For bookkeeping records, If any of you are playing on slow track, let me know so I can fill out the sheet properly.
You can only get credit for this module once per player. Have you already claimed credit for this module with past characters? If so let me know, as you won't be getting a chronicle sheet at the end.
Are all of your characters free (not tied up in another adventure)? If not, let us know when it might be available.
Please visit this link where you can find the slides we will be gaming on. Please fill out Slide 2. I will put your tokens on the slides, unless you know how, go for it.
Does anyone object to starting before the 15th?
If you have any questions before game day, let us know.

GM: I know you said you didn't want to start until the 15th, but do you want us to introduce ourselves in the gameplay thread to 'dot' in? Maybe get a little pre-game meet-and-greet role-play in?

![]() |

Yes, although it took some doing.
+1 Dex 12
+2 trait bonus, Warrior of Old trait
+2 racial bonus, Fleet Footed Elven Alternate Racial Trait
+4 untyped, Improved Initiative
+4 untyped, Compsognathus familiar
+1 untyped, for Divination (Foresight) school wizard
--
+14 base, with another +4 if I dismiss heightened awareness when making an initiative check.

![]() |

As long as I have time to reactivate the wand of heighten awareness, and I don't run out of charges, yes.

![]() |

In case it comes up, I also always get to go in a surprise round.

![]() |

GM: I believe we all still get the reflex save to get out of the way even if we cannot take an AoO.
Also: I believe Helena always acts in the surprise rounds as well, as she has the curse of powerless prophecy.

GM Deadly Secret |

If you get a chance to re-read the sentence I stated the two things you can normally do and the one thing you won't be-able to do.
Can Helena express that? She would go after the pyramid if that's the case.
Also, does anyone else have special initiative or perception rules that I have to consider when rolling for you?

Apologies, I parsed the sentence wrong, I thought you meant 'because you are denied AoO, you are denied the ability to make a reflex save. Again, sorry.

Helena, in fact never acts in surprise rounds due to her Powerless Prophecy. And if there is not a surprise round she is staggered during the first round of combat.
However, this also grant's her Uncanny Dodge, and thus she is never Flat-Footed.
Though she is also not in her Blinded Blade style, and thus the Pyramid still has total concealment and thus she still cannot attempt the attack of opportunity.
Also I believe trampling is a full-round action, and thus is not normally applicable during a surprise round.

![]() |

That is perfectly fine and understandable. Just pointing that out, as it was also news to me when I was informed of that fact.
Also somehow before now, I have completely missed the -4 on the AoO provoked from trample.
Happy to proceed.

GM Deadly Secret |

Hello players,
Given some suggestions and some thought I have considered to do block intiative after all. I'll be using another GM's very good example and making my own method. Hope fully this will make some of you feel a little better about timing and your post.
I will try to implement this into each game on the next combat.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

So, hi! Sorry I didn't bring the big guns - only character in range I have is a support oracle with a seeing-eye wolf. Yay?
He's got several uses of Cure Moderate, he can make the pyramid, uh, lame and blind (?), and he can boost AC and AB with Shield of Faith and Bless. Karma's here for bodyguard purposes - she can trip, but hasn't put much effort into getting good at it.
So, how do we want to take this thing down? Or, how do we want to gracefully withdraw for the time being?

![]() |

Oh man, I'm one trample from death so I'm out of this room if I make it another turn. If you think you can keep Helena up and this thing hampered enough, you can probably whittle it down eventually, but that Hardness is going to make it take awhile.

![]() |

That's fair. But nice job on the Obscuring Mist - that should keep it from charging for the time being. And if we limit its "vision" to 30 ft with Oracle's Burden, that could let us withdraw and regroup. Pity nobody has any portable pits handy. Or anything that targets a Reflex save. Anybody got Enlarge Person somehow?

![]() |

I know, right? It's either perfect, or it's going to be perfectly wrong.

![]() |

Yeah, sadly thought of many things that could help, but nothing other than the obscuring mist wand.
Also if you heal Helena, she regains an extra 2 hp per die rolled (due to Fey Foundling).

![]() |

So is the plan to withdraw for the time being? Or do we stay and fight? Does the pyramid look, uh, bloodied?

![]() |

It has been damaged a few times, but not sure how much.
I'd be ok with leaving. I could prep an enlarge person or two.

![]() |

At least it's not likely to heal on its own since its a construct and we haven't heard anything about it seeming to repair itself.

![]() |

Sorry about that last post in this thread, wrong persona.
Also just to be clear, I don't receive any mechanical benefit for performing Vildeis's Obedience, but Helena performs it out of devotion.

GM Deadly Secret |

Hello everyone,
Hope you all had a great weekend. I ended up taking the rest of the weekend to enjoy the vacation and now I'm back to work. I will have everyone's threads updated at some point today as I have many to get through. Thanks for your patience and let's get this ball rolling again.
Happy Gaming!

Goodness, if this is the pace we're taking it's going to take us months just to finish this combat, let alone multiple ones. Is there any way we as players can help keep things moving?

![]() |

No offense to the GM, I know they didn’t write this scenario, but wow, it is just one dick move after another. I think our wizard’s dead as whatever this is does construct damage, which means if it maintains the grapple (which it does automatically ‘cuse he’s unconscious) and does redonkukus constrict damage as soon as the grapple is maintained. We cannot heal through that. Also it goes again before our healers. Also apparently we didn’t get a perception check to notice it (I assume, as I said I was continuing to look for stuff) and apparently there is no way to free him according to the GM. Again, no fault of the GM, I am sure they are running the game as written, but wow, this is apparently just dick move after dick move, not fun.
I mean, unless the GM lets our tetori grapple it? Which would theoretically break the grapple it has on Byron? Maybe? Not sure if a creature with the grappled condition can grapple another, different creature. Not a master of the grapple rules.

GM DeadlySecret - society |

You did get a perception check. Even if you all rolled a 20 on perception or sense motive, you would not have seen through it's disguise which was a 45. So I did check on that and it's roll was made. Also, Byron is stuck to the box with an adhesive so no matter what, he's staying attached unless you figure out ways to detach him.
If you want to know more, a knowledge dungeoneering will be required.
Another GM taught me to have no shame as he party wiped our entire party in a society game and it was game over for us. I am sorry but the nature of low level games is rather rough.
