Otiophon
|
Unaccountably shaken, Oti casts protection from evil from his wand on Svetlana, then steps aside, stashing his wand and drawing his longsword, ready to meet the onrush.

Frindlikh Ardig
|
Taking the leadership of Otiophon to heart, Frindlikh understands what the plan is
Hellion, Oti, Brak. These orcs will be crashing into them like waves onto a shore.
Trying not to get in the way of that plan, Frindlikh draws both knives and tries to climb onto a coffin in the side niches.
Frindlikh Ardig

I think Oti stepped aside to allow you to charge, non? Frindlikh is just misinterpreting the situation to avoid becoming a front liner.
'Hellion' Svetlana Irriseni

OK I thought you guys were signalling to let them come in... but newp! TALLY HO!
Svetlana wades forward, Bardiche aimed straight at the first foe!

"Stitch that!" she screams back at the foes.
She has combat reflexes and a reach weapon... let them come :)

Ugh! I've had board crashes and power/net outages every time I log on to update, so I'm speed updating before something else zaps me!
The Hellion ends her opponent in one swipe as Li fells his mark as well. The archer fires at the tiefling but the shot goes wide as the last club wielding thug rushes in, his strikes going wild.

Oti withdraws, clearing the way for Svetlana's attack.
"Raising a sword is the best I can do, Kurse," Oti says, raising his sword as he moves around the column the other way.

Svetlana sends the female crashing to the stone floor under her crushing assault.
COMBAT OVER! Yay!
I will get your last map up soon.
Frindlikh quickly makes short work of the heavy lock on the slave cage and releases two more panicked Cassomir citizens from the bonds of the Cult.
"Oh thank you! I knew we could not lose hope. You must beware the thing below! T'is a terrible thing, like one of these mummified bodies, except it's up and walking around and shouting orders. It's got terrible teeth and... and... I think it's been eating the people they bring down to it. We never see them again, but a fresh, bloody skeleton is added to their ranks soon after!"
Her companion pats her back as he describes the layout. "It's a long narrow hall of burial niches that doubles back on itself before leading to a chamber 15 feet wide. That's where they stay."

Svetlana finds nothing of note on the half-orc guards, but Frind, Marla, Brak, Li and Oti notice a few bodies among those in the sarcophagi that look suitable for study, should anyone be interested in that. Kurse notices a gleaming scimitar lay next to the occupant of one...
The scimitar is of masterwork quality, but it bears no magical auras. It does appear to have a name engraved on the hilt;
'Rashim’s Caress'.
You descend the steps into the Undercrypt below and find yourselves in a narrow passageway surrounded by countless ornate burial niches which adorn the passage walls. The quiet hangs over this place like a death shroud. In the passage’s southwest corner, shattered niches reveal a massive set of iron double doors. An image carved on the doors depicts a dispassionate figure holding a gibbous moon.
Map is updated, decide on your order and make any preparations, once you are ready to breach the door I will remove the blind and roll initiative.
Otiophon
|
Oti casts Protection from Evil on himself, Frindlikh, and Svetlana just before Kurse casts Bless an the door is breached, then stows his wand.
So, since it takes 3 rounds to do, there would be about 7 rounds left for himself, 8 for Frindlikh, and 9 for Svetlana.
Oti positions himself behind Svetlana, with her quick reflexes and long reach.
He'll let Brak or someone stronger in ahead, however.

Frindlikh gives the nod that he can find no trap on the door and once Svetlana gets the go ahead, she opens the door revealing the room beyond. A purple glow washes over this cold chamber, creating an otherworldly sheen. A large desk adorns the south wall; behind it's oaken bulk hangs a large map of Cassomir. Straw-lined cages line the chamber’s east and west walls. In the center of the room, resting on a small pedestal, a black rock absorbs the chamber’s bright torch light.
Behind the great desk waits a terribly familiar figure, Dalirio Teppish, his features twisted in undeath into a predatory snarl. He locks eyes on the intruders. Eyes filled with a malevolent intelligence and hateful recognition.
"You! I hoped it would be you. Look upon my transformation and tremble, pawns of Cassomir! Behold, my love! Our vengeance is at hand."
Dalirio extends a twisted claw and the skeletons respond by turning in that direction. One of them wears a tattered bridal veil, tacked directly to it's bare skull like a morbid mockery of matrimony.

Moves swiftly in to room, and declaring Dalirio an abomination and vowing to smite him down, draws and throws a cold iron shortspear at the undead monster, then draws his longsword.

Otiophon's spear strikes the monstrosity hard, driving him back against the curved wall behind him. Svetlana moves in, shattering one of the skeletons with her bardiche in one blow.
The remaining skeleton moves toward the tiefling slashing with it's bony claws. Dalirio casts at the glacial beauty, and the Hellion is held fast in place, unable to move.

Seeing the hellion paralysed, Frindlikh rushes up, seeing if he can find an opening to sneak through.
Is the rubble on the sides passable? Difficult terrain?
Single move and ready attack if anything comes into range.
| GM bluedove |
Whoops! Ok, I was thinking that tieflings were still humanoids, that spell has no effect then!
But that is not rubble, they are cages and no, they are not passable. This scenario really brings home that hall fights suck!
Li's arrows pepper the undead cleric, and he looks severely weakened.
Frindlikh Ardig
|
I don't mind really. It's great torture for frindlikh and his inherent fear of failure.
Otiophon

Also, as a small bonus, Oti had used Protection from Evil on Svetlana, Frindlikh, and himself, which would add +2 to saves, although I don't think that would have been enough.
Suddenly passed and blocked by everyone, Oti moves forward and draws and throws a dagger at the skeleton.
