Yohoho and a bottle of Rep! (subSPUF Skull and Shackles)

Game Master Rynjin

Arrrrrrr, walk the plank, scallywag and all that. This be pirates and so do ye be.

Impositions:

Disgraceful Impositions:

Yes, Sir!: For the next hour, the PCs’ crew completes any mundane tasks they’re assigned in half the expected time. This typically relates to Craft and Profession (sailor) checks made to prepare, maintain, or repair the ship, and cannot be applied to combat or more complex deeds like crafting magic items. Costs 2 Disrepute.

Captain’s Orders!: As a standard action, a PC on board her ship can cast fog cloud, heroism, make whole, quench, or whispering wind with a caster level equal to her character level. Costs 5 Disrepute.

Walk the Plank!: The PCs may sacrifice one crew member or prisoner to grant themselves and their crew one of two bonuses: either a +2 bonus on all skill checks or a +2 bonus on attack rolls. These bonuses only apply while on board the PCs’ ship and last until either the next day or when the captain leaves the ship. If a sacrificed character is returned to life, the PCs and their crew members take a –2 penalty on both skill checks and attack rolls for 1 day. Costs 5 Disrepute.

Get Up, You Dogs!: Every PC and allied character on the deck of the PCs’ ship is affected as per the spell cure light wounds, as if cast by a cleric of the PCs’ average party level. This imposition can only be used once per week. Costs 10 Disrepute.

Despicable Impositions:

5: Lashings!: Your ship's speed doubles for 1 day.

5: Shiver Me Timbers!: While on board their ship, the PCs and their entire crew can reroll initiative or roll initiative in what would otherwise be a surprise round. The benefit of this imposition can be used immediately, but only once per week.

10: Besmara’s Blessings!: As a standard action, a PC on board her ship can cast animate rope, control water, remove curse, remove disease, or water breathing with a caster level equal to her character level.

10: Dead Men Tell No Tales!: While on board their ship, the PCs can use this imposition to automatically confirm a threatened critical hit.

Male Goblin Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 4 [dexed] | PERMANENTLY DECEASED

After deciding to be the bigger man and returning the equipment to the others without a big to-do (Because I am just so magnanimous), Slickjaw decides to take Rosie aside, and, with a flourish and a mysterious smile, offer her the fiddle.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Rosie's eyes widen.

"My fiddle! How in the world did you...? Who cares? Thank you!" she gives Slickjaw a big sloppy kiss on the top of his head and then sits down and starts tuning it.

"Hey, listen. If you EVER need a favor, just tell me, and I'll come running. You have no idea how much this fiddle means to me."

Male Goblin Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 4 [dexed] | PERMANENTLY DECEASED

Since that didn't take long, Slickjaw decides to practice some woman-related-patience and sneak into the armory and take a peak around.

The return of Cyrdic's coat was an immense relief to him. It was his sole possession, save the small stash of gold that he had hidden in a secret pocket of the coat. He had no idea how the goblin had gotten it, and he didn't want to know. Thankfully, nobody had questioned him about the fact that he was suddenly wearing the coat. After dinner, he saw a group of people playing some sort of card game. He went over, introduced himself and asked to play.

I'm gonna try gambling as my night-time action, what do I have to roll?

Lucy was surprised to find her possessions returned to her by that goblin who... had slapped one of the pirate girls they fought in the breasts. She tried not to dwell on who returned her gear, and instead be happy that she got her things back at all.

While walking around after dinner, she manages to find out the pirates often play a gambling game, and she decides it wouldn't be too much of a waste to figure out the game they played.

sign me up for some gambling too!

Being a natural hoarder, Ace was greatly relieved to get his items back.
He thanked Slickjaw.
He finds something odd, though, that nobody cared that he got his items back all of a sudden.

After dinner, he decides to explore teh ship a bit.

After a few moments of cautious observation - and subtly laughing his arse off at some fool making a fool of himself by telling everyone and their grandma that he could use magic Retconned, Slickjaw joins the gamblers, sitting on a higher point - half to feel not-short, and half to, ah, observe the
mannerisms of the female players.

Ace: Nobody cares if you have stuff, it's generally assumed you found a way to buy it back from the store. Just be careful around Grok, she might recognize it if you let her get too close a look... Also you don't find jack. Also also you need to tell me WHERE you were looking, precisely. I gave a list of all the locations on the ship in the Discussion page.

Slickjaw, Lucy, and Cyrdic walk around the ship to see if they can get in on a good game of something. There are a number of different games going at any given time.

Below decks, there are two men over in the corner are arm wrestling with a pile of silver laid off to the side for the winner.

A group of 4 topside are lobbing what appears to be an iron ingot in a cleared area as far as they can manage, again with some money on the line. The pirates refer to this as the "Hog Lob".

In the dining area a large crowd has been drawn to witness what seems to be a drinking contest, called "Heave". A good deal of gold is on the line for this one.

Arm Wrestling is an opposed Str check to the other person, highest result is the winner.

The Hog Lob is a CMB check, modified with a -4 because the "hog" counts as an Improvised Weapon unless you have the Throw Anything Feat. Person with the highest check wins (tossing it a number of feet equal to their roll).

Heave is a drinking contest. You take a drink (half a pint of rum) and make a Fort save. Last man on his feet wins.

Crap.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Cyrdic begins to wrestle his opponent, nearly overpowering him in the first second. His opponent looks at the table worriedly and exerts all his strength, putting the match back to a stalemate.

Cyrdic looks at him for a second, and then pays close attention to the table, something he hadn't done at the start.

At the edge of the "table" (really just a barrel with a plank of wood on it) are strewn pieces of broken glass and sharp metal...at prime distance to slice into the loser of the contest.

Round 2: FIGHT!

1d8 ⇒ 6

3 Con damage, and you have +3 Cha and Fatigued for 6 hours. Make sure to factor in that Con damage to your next Fort save, it imparts a -1 to Fort saves, and your max HP is dropped by 1.

The rest of the pirates look at Lucy and give her some gaptoothed grins, patting her on the back before downing their own drinks.

The other three pirates down their rum with considerably less enthusiasm this time.

Oh bloody hell.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Lucy downs another rum, looking somewhat queasy but keeping herself upright.

1 more damage, 1 less Fort. Also, I almost forgot...you lose Rage rounds too until all this is healed.

The other three pirates are looking decidedly green around the gills, but they go ahead and drink.

1d20 ⇒ 13
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

At that, two of the pirates begin puking their guts out, before collapsing on the deck.

One more round will decide it...

Meanwhile, Cyrdic is having a hard time getting a grip on his opponent's sweaty hands.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

The man grins and, with a grunt of effort, smashes Cyrdic's hand down onto the table, jabbing pieces of glass and rusty metal into his hand.

1d2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

For My Eyes Only:

Lucy: 7 Con/14 HP
Pirate 1: 0 Con/-11 HP

The third pirate grabs his drink and chokes it down, before immediately collapsing to the floor.

He gasps weakly, and stops breathing, which is when you notice the other 2 pirates are dead as well.

Plugg looks up from his table when he sees them expire.

"Dammit men, no more Heave, we're too short crewed already ye rockheaded lumps. Get rid of these, and if I see anyone else playin' Heave until we get back up to a full crew I'll put ye in the sweatbox!" he cries.

A trio of burly pirates comes over and picks the corpses up and slings them over their shoulders, carrying them up to the top deck and tossing them overboard.

Lucy gathers up about 10 gold and a massive hangover for the next day.

Ability score damage heals at a rate of 1 per day. So as long as you don't take any more you'll be back up to full strength in a little over a week as long as you don't take any more. I suggest not taking your rum ration for the next few days. =)

Grinning at the pirate, Cyrdic congratulates him on the win and flips him a gold piece, ignoring the throbbing in his hand. Grabbing his rum, he quickly drinks the liquid before motioning to Slickjaw. "Hey, doc-saw you had a medkit earlier. Think I should get this hand checked out? I slammed it in the tent door."

Same deal as with Ace.

So I'm going to handle tomorrow a little differently. In order to speed things up on the uneventful days (ones where you just do your jobs, and then your actions), I'm just going to tell you to do your Day/Night actions and roll the job checks for you. If it's close enough, it's close enough.

Day 3 Job Checks:

Cyrdic: 1d6 ⇒ 4 1d20 ⇒ 10

Cyrdic's good.

Slickjaw: 1d6 ⇒ 3 1d20 ⇒ 8

Fail, but no punishment.

Ace: 1d6 ⇒ 4 1d20 ⇒ 4

Fail, but no punishment (good thing you have a high Dex).

Lucy: 1d6 ⇒ 1 1d20 ⇒ 15

A 1 means you actually don't have a job to do today (Kroop cooks teh meal and you're assisting him). I'ma take that 15 and give it to you as a Perception check.

What Lucy finds in the kitchen:

Given time to breathe and look around, Lucy notices a few things in the messy kitchen.

She finds that one of the butcher knives is actually a Masterwork Dagger, and a large cookbook hidden in the corner gives very detailed directions on cooking a variety of dishes. It gives you a +1 bonus on Profession: Cook checks if you use it. Also, I forgot to mention this earlier (it hadn't come up where it would've mattered though), the entire galley (disorganized as it is) acts as Masterwork Cook's Tools and gives a +2 on Profession: Cook as well.

On the fourth day, the crew wakes up and goes to work as normal. However, only a few hours later, a man runs up from the bilges, screaming. Perception checks, please.

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Slickjaw overhears the conversation.

Plugg slaps the man to get him to calm down.

"What is it Jack? Spit it out ye bleedin' idiot!"

Jack replies with a quaver in his voice to match his ashen face.

"I was on rat catching duty and something popped out and bit me! It was way bigger than a rat's supposed to be Mr. Plugg!"

Plugg grimaces and looks around.

He points at Ace and Cyrdic, then says.

"You two, find your little goblin friend and the kitchen wench and go down to the bilges. If I don't see all four of ye down there in the next 10 minutes you'll be goin' down with stripes on your back, ye understand?"

The four make their way down to the bilges.

The first thing you notice is the blistering heat, that immediately makes you start to sweat and breathe heavily. You'll need to make at least 1 Fort save while you're down here.

The second thing is what sent Jack Scrimshaw screaming up the stairs: A bunch of giant crabs rats. Anyone with Kn. Nature can identify them.

They appear to have gnawed out of a sack of barley and are splashing around in the water looking for things to eat.

Upon your entry, they turn to look at you, and make as if to attack.

So Lucy, then Slickjaw downs his mutagen, then Ace...then the Ratpocalypse.

bah, should have gotten a AoE spell

Lucetia grips her falchion with both hands. "Rats. RATS? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!! THEY SENT US DOWN HER TO KILL RATS?!" She quickly descends into a rage.

Err... I have 3 rounds of Rage, if my Con's at what it should be at. :( But hey, the con bonus puts me to... -3 con while raging. I think.

Lucretia, shouting incoherent obscenities, swings at the rat that bit Cyrdic.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

These rats count as small, right?

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

You should have 4 rounds of Rage, not 3, because ability damage works really weird. Drain is a lot more straightforward but you, uh, you never wanna f#~& with things that have Ability Drain.

And they are indeed small. And you failed to hit them.

Ace, you're up. Also, guys, remember...you can post your actions before your Initiative order comes up. I'll just rearrange them so they're in order. If someone's previous action invalidates your action I'll just have you switch targets or let you go again. Speeds things up a little bit when everyone's posting so far apart sometimes.

I do a simple strike on the "lead rat" with my scimitar, to test it out.

attack roll:: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Male Human Monk 5 (Qinggong Master of Many Styles from the Sacred Mountain)/Fighter (Brawler) 3

Ace hits the first rat with a love tap, that nevertheless seems to enrage the rat. He chitters to the other rats and they all charge at the group.

One attacks Cyrdic, but manages to miss.

Two go after Ace, one sinking its teeth into his shin while the other flails around unsuccessfully. 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

One tries to bite Slickjaw, but he is deftly dodged.

And the final rat goes after Lucy, catching her on the arm. 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Spoiler:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

Confirmation: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Failure.

3 damage to both Ace and Lucy, and both make me a Fort save.

Initiative Order:

Cyrdic
Rat 1
Lucy
Slickjaw
Ace
Rat 2
Rat 3
Rat 4
Rat 5
Rat 6

Cyrdic you're up again.
