If you weren't in such a hurry, I would ask for the name of your supervisor." Gregor admonishes the guard, unable to help but suggest the proper procedures for filing reports for inappropriate behavior or conduct unbecoming.

The guard looks as though he's about to retort to Nik'o's saucy banter when Gregor cuts into him. He immediately casts his eyes downward and motions you through. "You're right sir, be safe on the roads." as his voice cracks a little. Another group follows on you heels, then...

"That was the last group through, all entry and egress must be through the main gate until sunrise..." He shouts as the gate begins to lower.

as Mai got through the gate and about 25 ft after she thinks
We got passed the gate and the guards, and I have to keep the drunk act up for about another 6 blocks, so the sudden change of state does not raise any flags from the more observant guards.
And If I find out which guard felt my butt as I was going though the gate, I'll tie him up outside with his pants down hanging off a wall.

Gregor breathes a sigh of relief upon leaving the gate, he walks in silence a little out of earshot before he turns to the group. "We must hasten to deliver these fine ladies to their safe house. I do not want to stay away long, between those warning bells and the catapults firing, I will want to return to see if there is any way I can aid our fair city. Sgt Drakus and I just may be called to duty." He turns and hurries in the direction they were to lead their wards.


Nik'o straighten at Gregor's words. Keeping a perfect posture, she quickens her pace, keeping a watchful eye on her surroundings.

Almost as soon as the words are out of Gregor's mouth, the all-clear bells are rung. In the foggy distance you can hear the last gasp of a sinking ship, however you hear no screams of drowning sailors.

Though eerie, no one confronts you on the way to the safehouse, the fogs clinging cold the only lingering effect.

As they arrive at the safehouse Gregor gets visibly antsy. He sweeps a brief bow to the two ladies and kisses each of their hands. "Well, ladies, it is here that we must part ways. It was nice to make your acquaintances, and I wish you success in your future endeavors." He stands upright, straightens his uniform and turns on his heel. "I must away back to the city. I am eager to know the news of what happened at the bay. Our mission is accomplished here is it not? We have delivered these two young women safely." he calls to the others from over his shoulder.


Nik'o, on the way there, wonders as the bells tell of safety: "I wonder what those had been for? I mean, when's the last time the city has fired on ships!?" She makes a mental note of going for information after they drop the girls.

As they reach the safehouse, she frowns at Gregor's expedious answer: "We could at least make sure the safehouse is safe, no?"

And it gives me a horrible feeling of events to come, like a plague of famine, or the storm of war.

At Mr. Orisini's arrival Gregor snaps to readiness, not that it's far to go from a slightly relaxed state of parade rest, and straightens his uniform. He makes ready to head out, when the the mention of black sails comes up. Gregor is certain he knows the signifigance of such a sign. As he thinks on it he readies to make haste back to the city. "Thank you Sir, for your hastened arrival" the last two word he seems reluctant to say. "Now that you are here, we... I must hurry back to the city to attend her." He pauses and adds between slightly clenched teeth, "Unless of course you still have need of us?"

Gregor shifts lightly back and forth from foot to foot, before he makes the decision for himself. "Well, Pai and Donager, despite the most interesting nature of the variances in linguistical differences between societies, it appears that Mr. Orisini has no further work for us. I will be heading back to the city proper, and looking to render my aid to any in need from the ship sunk at the docks." He salutes Vencarlo, nods to Sgt. Drakus and Nik'o and turns to begin walking stridently back to the city. His anxiety about the events of the city getting the better of him, he waits no longer. His gait very soldierly, as if marching in time with others beside him as they keep count.


Nik'o looks at Gregor as he departs, visibly ready to go, but waiting for a clearer signal.
