Katia Shelensdottir |
As they reach the temple again, she replies to Garrett. "I'd really like to see what's in. We need all the information and resources we can. Let's do it."
Lethander Grey |
"Agreed, we shouldn't skip any opportunity to improve our odds."
Well aware of his strengths -or rather, his lack of strength- Lethander kept his crossbow at the ready, guarding his companions as they tried to force the door.
"That said, we still have to decide who gets this scale... I'm afraid it's power is rather wasted on me."
Talking about the Align Weapon scale to defeat demon DR.
How are we handling loot, by the way... anyone taking notes?
nightdeath |
No else bothered to find out what the scales did. Didn't they? I'll setup a loot list.
The door opens up easily, sending you all sprawling. It looks as good as new though.
Katia Shelensdottir |
As it took something like 2 hours to find what a scale did, I guess we were focused on getting out of the first cave. That said, it's still on my secret list of thing to do:)
Katia Shelensdottir |
Not bothering to be silent, with all the noise they did, Katia walks around the sprawled Gareth and Zakon and inspect the fisrt room (B2).

Anevia grows despodent at the declaration of the temple's patron, making complaints about her leg. This however prompts Horgus to make choice remarks about spliting up implying that the party is better off with the lame and infirm.
Unfortunately this drives Anevia beyond her limits.
"At least I'm not ashamed like a certain flop to afraid of his own religon and is no better than with consorting with demons!!!"
At this Horgus Retorts.
"And so a gutter rat decides to lecture on morals. Oh the Irony!"
Anevia is troubled by something and has taken this excuse to lash out at somebody which is the unfortunate Horgus.
Horgus on the other hand is restraining himself admirably though he's taken aback.
Their quarrel looks ready to escalate with Horgus's face getting redder by the minute.
This occurence of course negates the party's attempts to be silent.
Lethander Grey |
Horgus' was becoming increasingly irritating to Lethander and was about to suggest that splitting up the party would indeed be a good idea, one group with Horgus and one group with all the rest.
But Garret's action stopped him from doing so.
He readied his crossbow but didn't point it in the direction he appeared to be focusing on. If there were potential allies, he didn't want to seem to hostile.
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 1
nightdeath |
The shuffling seemed to come from inside the temple but Garrett is unable to pinpoint its exact location due to Horgus and Anevia's bickering.
Anevia's voice rises in pitch and volume while Horgus surprisingly catching Garrett's action tries to back down to no avail.
Katia Shelensdottir |
Alerted by Garrett, Katia tries to hear what is going on. But the distractions of Anevia and Horgus quarrel prove too strong as well.

Trying again to understand what Garrett is worried, Beth looks for any tracks that were not disturbed by the group entrance.
survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Exceeded by the noise outside and her difficulty to find anything, Katia moves out of the temple and walks furiously towards the aggravating couple ready to chew them out for endangering the group. sense motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Catching out some undertone, she stops herself just short of hurling abuses, realizing it will not work. Instead, she reaches out to Anevia, taking her face gently between her hands almost as a lover would. Face to face, she whispers: "The Lady tells me you are troubled. But why taking it out at someone who has nothing to do with it? I'm ready to listen to you whenever you need and I'll pray the Lady to watch over your dreams."
Kissing her softly, she adds "Now, please, keep your calm, we'll shortly need your archery skills if Garrett is right."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Abigail Merosa |
Abigail goes to the bickering survivors.
Please, there is the possibility of shelter here but we need to ensure its safety. please we must put our differences aside and work together to find a way out of here.

Have removed 1 map.
Katia's move breaks up the quarrel and earns her a slap.
"Mind yourself for I'm a married woman and my wife will not take kindly to such liberties to my person. Seeing this place made me think of her."
Horgus mouths a Thank you to Katia as he so quietly slinks away glad to not be in the firing range.
"Something smells in the air." He remarks.
Aravashnial looks up and sniffs a little.
"I concur though I'm tempted to remark on the possibility of the current company."
Abigail's efforts though nets her a nod from the already grateful Horgus and serves to calm drown Aneiva further.
"I am sorry for losing control" as she hobble away to sit heavily on a jutting rock.
Lethander Grey |
"So, there's movement in the temple? We should seek entry but avoid hostility. Torag is very opposed to the forces of Chaos. Why not ask them to open the door?", Lethander suggested now things had quieted down.
Katia Shelensdottir |
Katia lifts her hand to her cheek and, taking a step back, she smiles at Aneiva. "No offence intended to you or your wife, but I had to get you back down here."
Turning back, she winks to Horgus, and replies to Lethander. "With a stuck door, either those in have a second entrance or they are long dead... That could explain the smell.", she says, opening a second quiver and checking her blunt arrows.
Pausing a second she adds, "Garrett, are you able to detect undead?"

Claw Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 211d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
A wicked gash opens up on Garrett's chest, spraying blood as a creature screams at Garrett while flailing wildly at him.
"Y...es......ho..me....."
It looks like a rotting shambling with its tattered robes indicating it as a priest once.
Garrett feels slightly nauseous from that wicked swipe.

nightdeath |
Katia after glancing at it knows:
That its a Huecuva, a priest who dies denouncing his faith.
It attacks with disease infected claws and has an aura of Faithlessness giving it resistance to channeled energy and positive energy effects and also affects other undead within 30 feet of it.
It has unusally tough skin and only magical or silver weapons can cut through it. Like most undead, it has their strengths and weakness as well though this one seems abit more different being tougher and stronger.
Also it's ugly.
nightdeath |
Zakon's slash cleaves through the priest attracting its attention to himself as it swipes twice!

Abigail hear the sudden sounds of battle, for some reason she recalles those sounds from somewhere in her past.
perhaps the sound of an ally in pain., who knows but her necessary actions are clear
By Sarenrae's light heal the fallen, close the wounds, restore the faithful to fulfill your plan she says as she holds her holy symbol out and a wave of energy washes over the party healing those that have suffered wounds.
channel to heal the living. Heal for 1d6 ⇒ 1 oh great, that was useless
Katia Shelensdottir |
"Magic, you need magic or silver to hurt it. It's a Huecuva, an undead renegade cleric."
"Desna, help me send this creature back to where it belongs.", she prays as she moves into the temple, firing on the undead
Move action: move into the templs. Swift action: activate Judgement of smiting: weapon counts as magical.

greatsword: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 2 = 12 (smite)
damage: 2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4) + 3 + 1 = 9
Garrett's AC is 21 vs the creature he's smiting. Smite bypasses any damage resistance, of course the attack still has to hit :-(

Everybody up again. Huecuva is tripped.
A great Nimbus of light radiates the area with Abigail's plea but it dies out soon enough as if smothered.
Lethander's bolt flies true only to bounce off the Huecuva's thick hide as both Katia and Garrett flail at the cleric with it nimbly dodging their blows.
The presence of so many holy warriors seemes to enraged the Huecuva.
A hissing splash of acid ends on the ceiling as a surprising new foe enters the fray, avoiding the claws and then tripping up the Undead priest as a heavyset Horgus slams into its legs with bone jarring impact, just as an arrow sails overhead.
"In the name of Torag or whatever god of good you worship. Take it down now" A puffy faced Horgus screams as he holds on to a bucking Huecuva trying its best to claw his face off.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Acid came from Aravashnial.
Garrett's heavy blow swings in and nearly cleaves it in half but for a timely block with its claws, the huecuva manages to avoid that fate but barely as it broke off several bones by atempting to starve off the blow.
Lethander Grey |
His shot had been good but the bolt he'd fired had been completely ineffective against the creature. Lethander knew it would be pointless to try again.
Instead, he tried another tactic; tossing a bottle of Holy Water at the vile creature. At least this should work equally well against both demons and undead.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 4 = 142d4 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 (Included +4 for prone?)
Katia Shelensdottir |
Dropping her bow, Katia draws a wicked morningstar and joins the fight.
morningstar: 1d20 + 2 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 2 + 4 = 22, damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 (it still counts as magical to bypass DR, included the +4 bonus for prone)
Lethander Grey |
Even at point blank? Frack. Hope I'm allowed to change it then ;(
If not, at least it'll do 1 damage for splash. Yay!
If allowed to change... wait, scratch that. Can't do squat against this thing anyhow. Color Spray doesn't work vs undead neither. Guess I'll just get out of the way, heh.
nightdeath |
At touched? Yeah it'll hit and Katia just pounded it to mush......
Holy water splashes against the creature, bubbling as skin and undead flesh melts upon contact. Screaming the Huecuva whirls towards Lethander to meet Katia's morningstar in the smashing its snarl short and leaving nothing much to imagination.
Combat over. Horgus @ -1 hp.

Aneiva's screams echoes through the cavern.
"Help me. So much blood....Can't stop it....Help....."
Her pleas as she vainly fails to staunch the blood flow from Horgus's chest, a shallow pool starting to form.
Horgus doesn't look to well off with his face pale and his wounds oozing black blood mixed with red....
