When making a melee attack, you get a +2 flanking bonus if your opponent is threatened by another enemy character or creature on its opposite border or opposite corner.

When in doubt about whether two characters flank an opponent in the middle, trace an imaginary line between the two attackers’ centers. If the line passes through opposite borders of the opponent’s space (including corners of those borders), then the opponent is flanked.

You can't trace a line which makes for opposite borders with that positioning. You'd need to be 1 south and there's a wall there. You hit with both bites.

Since you have selective channeling and only a 14 charisma, I do have to ask because you are going to be healing more than excluding. It was sort of a hint that it may not be the best course of action.

Xandarian was just about respond to the inquisitor's exclaimation, when several things happened at the same time.

For several seconds, the evil fortification disappeared around Xandarian, to be replaced by a world of bright white light. Then a thunderous chorus of cheers assaulted the cleric's senses. The taldane found himself in the center of a large alehall, surrounded by well wishers of various races and ages. Xandarian felt the sensation of something licking the back of his hand only to find a majestic cayhound tasting his knuckles like it had been dipped in almond butter. The revelers each tried to be the first one to shove a full alemug into the cleric hand, taking the mug offered by an old smiling dwarf.
Confused, Xandarian took a sip from the mug. It was a very cold ale of superior quality. It felt like a blessing, quenching his thirst after the long attack on the fort. The sounds of celebration quickly died down quickly as someone was making their way through the alehouse patrons. Xandarian bowed his head low when he realized the person approaching was none other than Thais, Cayden Cailean's herald and friend.

Awestruck, Xandarian sputtered, "I-I'm dead. I'm dead. Cayden took me straight from the River of Souls and plopped me here."

A riotous cry of laughter burst from around the cleric, as the petitioners reacted as if the cleric told an witty baudy joke.

"You're not dead, Quartermain", spoke the herald over the tumultuous laughter. "Although by the end, I'm sure you wish you were." More laughter met the cleric's senses. Thias motioned Xandarian to follow her, and the cleric obeyed. As they made their way toward what looked like the exit, Thias continued her conversation with the taldane.

"Cayden wanted to be here to meet you in person, but as you know, Golarion is under the threat of a full blown demonic invasion from The Worldwound, so he's quite busy right now. And as his herald, he asked me to relay this message to you"
Xandarian nodded as he listened intently to Thias's words, trying his best not to examine the herald's curved rear as he followed in her wake.

"Seeing how you are Cayden's 'man-on-the-scene' right now, The Drunken Hero wishes to let you know that you may have experienced a great deal of difficulty in Sarkoris, but he has faith in you equal to the faith you have in him, and fact of the matter is: it's going to get a lot more difficult. So Cayden has seen fit to grant your the title of Divine Scion, essentially one of Cayden's top representatives on Golarion. The bond his faithful have with The Accidental God will be stronger in you and in others."

Both mortal and celestial being exit the alehall doors to an avenue full of other feasthalls, bars and breweries.
Thias turned to Xandarian and met his eye.

"The road you walk is immensely dangerous, perhaps fatal. But the rewards are just as immense. Keep the faith, Xandarian. Cayden will help when he can. Fight for those who can't. The fate of Golarion is in your hands. But no pressure. And I saw you checking out my ass, you pervert", the herald said with a knowing smirk.

Before Xandarian could form an apology, the world when all white again, then the cleric found himself looking at the confused face of Tanrov.

Looking around fervently, Xandarian exclaimed "Holy s#!t!!" "I was just on Elysium! In Cayden Cailean's Domain!"
In rapid-fire speak, Xandarian regaled his brief visit to the Outer Planes to the others.

Kevin walks through the room and gives each of the demon's bodies a good kick, making sure they are dead.

"When we face your brethren I will be ready." He looks at the others and says "I feel the power of the Wardstone as well. We should clear this place out and clean out the corruption we can. We have a few bodies to return for burial as well."


In the meantime, the PCs finally have a chance to rest and recover. With the pulse of sacred energy along the border having slain so many demons and driven off the others, the incursion of Kenabres ends. The PCs can explore and investigate their new powers (GM says 'no'), or spend a few well-deserved days to relax with friends. As days wear on, the crusaders likely grow nervous in anticipation of the next of the demonic attacks, as the wardstones are no more.


After the wardstone is destroyed, the next time the PCs rest, they have a singular, shared dream in which a scarred but beautiful woman dressed in plate armor visits them and thanks them for their kindness and service before apologizing for the fact that she cannot help them in the future. Yet she can grant them a token of her gratitude, and kisses each dreaming PC on the brow.

+5 HP

Both of these bonuses are permanent.


OK, now that you're all mythic and stuff, you don't have much trouble putting down any remaining trouble in the ruins of Kenabres. You get this done just in time for a relieving army to show up with the Queen of Mendev at the head. She requests an audience with you bunch. Being as though she is the queen, I'll take it that you accept.

“While there are some narrow-minded souls among the crusade who blame you for the destruction of the wardstone border, I do not begrudge you for what you did. Far from it. From the sound of it, you saved entire legions of crusaders from a most vile fate by preventing Vorlesh from transforming them, and the blast of energy gave us the time we needed to regroup and prepare for what will certainly come next. But you understand the implications of what you’ve done, I’m sure—the wardstones are gone, but Iomedae has seen fit that you will be their replacement. I can think of no other reason that would explain why their power would have settled in your bodies and souls and didn’t merely fade into the ether. In time, the demons will regroup and reorganize—we can trust their inherent chaos to make this period of regrouping longer than it otherwise would take, but we shouldn’t underestimate them. They’ll be back soon enough. Already I’ve had reports from along the front lines that small groups of demons are attacking fortifications and settlements along the southern border.

But what intrigues me most is news from several reliable sources that as our fiendish enemies are starting to mass in the southern reaches along the Riftshadow within the Worldwound, they have left several of their northern lairs relatively unprotected. In particular, the fiend Aponavicius has taken the bulk of her army from Drezen, leaving it only moderately protected as she joins with the Storm King in Iz to, no doubt, plot greater attacks on larger targets like Nerosyan, Karcau, and beyond. The time is right to strike into their territory. Drezen was the first of our cities to fall after the First Crusade, and we lost more than our kin and our pride that day. We lost the Sword of Valor, a magical banner carried by the Inheritor herself during the Shining Crusade. If Drezen could be retaken—if the Sword of Valor could once again be held by the crusade... well, I trust I don’t need to explain how well that would affect morale. But with the imminent attacks along the border, I cannot spare many to lead an assault on Drezen. And even if I could, a large army attacking the city would only draw Aponavicius back to defend the place. The obvious tactic is to send in a group of capable heroes with a modest but well-trained army to strike now, while the proverbial iron is hot. And this is why I’ve sought you out. If you can retake Drezen and reclaim the Sword of Valor, not only will you silence the fools who would brand you traitors for destroying the wardstone, but more importantly, you would bolster the entire war effort with your heroism. And I fear we need all the bolstering we can get!"

To sum up, you are going to be handed an army of paladins to take back a city in which you will find a holy relic.

He turns to the others. "Let's meet with the army commanders and begin our preparations for the expedition."


I should be clear, I'm going to skip the actual army stuff since the rules are pretty meh, and revolve around one person making the rolls. I'll just say you win the battles and have you do the party scale fights. There's enough of them.

Standing up a little straighter, the cleric continues, "Um, as Cayden Cailean's Divine Scion in this matter, it is his request that a several large barrels of ale be issued to our troops..for..the blessing of the troops before each battle."


"The commissary will be made available to you. And I will provide for your blessings. "

Which means you can buy normal goods, potions, scrolls, and wands (normal stuff, don't ask for odd stuff). Ask first.
