Sanjay Gupachandra |
Sanjay sits cross-legged on the floor, glancing up at the newest potential crusaders to arrive in 'his' city. The tieflings will have a hard time of it here, he knows, but he's also seen more and more of them lately.
He plucks at a stray thread on his long brown tunic then speaks up, smiling to show he's a harmless lad. "Pardon my intrusion, newcomers-- I couldn't help but overhear your discussion...
"Orcs may be honest, but it cannot be argued they also tend to great conflict with other races. The little fae trick and twist, but are less bloodthirsty. Things with claws and fangs tend to use them, in my experience."
He smiles apologetically for his nerve in joining their conversation, then rolls to his feet. "You are all new to Kenabres, yes? May I offer my services as a guide, warriors?"
The slim, slight figure in the nondescript clothing is closer to manhood than he probably appears-- but his mannerisms are that of any street urchin hoping to earn a few coins guiding some new arrivals.

"Angels bound to demon-spawn?" A broad Ulfen man snorts, shrugging off his heavy cloak and draping it over the saddle of an equally broad and shaggy horse. "Now I've seen everything."

Oh hey - question here, GM. I built Jens in HeroLab, and haven't purchased all the additional material yet. I just found the animal companion archetypes in Animal Archive while browsing the PFSRD, and think the Charger archetype would be great for Alfsigr. Is it too late to change that?

Not too late! Go ahead and make the change.

Okay, everybody, we're closing in on the start of the game. Yesterday was quiet because I was wiped out after working a double. But I did manage to add some more info to my makeshift Kenabres gazeteer, featuring some of the prominent locations in the city. Definitely have a look at that under the Campaign Info tab. Game thread goes live tonight after work! :)

Many thanks. I shall make the necessary adjustments now, then have a squiz at the campaign info.

Stoked to finally have this in my campaigns tab. My constant refreshing has been made easier!
Kel the Guardsman |
I swear I won't always spend so much time talking to myself. Figured I'd set the tone of the character with the introduction. :)
oh, and as a cosmetic note, Kel has the Tail racial trait, but he doesn't actually have a tail. The mechanics are the same, but instead it's Asara manipulating the objects instead. It's a sort of very minor telekinetic manifestation.
Kel the Guardsman |
I'm enjoying it too. If anyone gets annoyed at Kel and Asara's back-and-forth stuff, let me know and I'll tone it down. I'm not trying to hog the spotlight.
Do we have our gear when we wake up?
Aaliyah El-Amin |
Just a heads-up folks - I'll be taking a trip to Japan in mid-September through October. I had thought I would have access to wifi basically throughout, but there was a last-minute change due to bedbugs at the inn I was going to be staying at in Tokyo and the hotel I've been moved to by the travel agency . . . well, doesn't.
I'll have my phone rigged up for internet, but when that comes up I'll need to be GMPCd most likely. I'll let you know closer to the day about things like combat priorities and such.
Kel the Guardsman |
I'm hoping calm words will do the trick. :)
If it comes to that, I think I'd rather the paladin did the manhandling of ladies we barely know. Us teiflings have a bad enough time with our reputations as is.

I should also say that I will be unavailable most of Labor Day weekend, August 30 - September 2. I am the Pathfinder Society organizer for Animefest here in Dallas, TX.

I'm unemployed, live with my parents, and spend some weekends at my boyfriend's house. Other than that, I'm a web junkie. I have a wedding on October 3rd I'll be out of town for, but that's it. Good lord, I need a job; I'm going crazy.

Everything's better after a good meal and a night of restful sleep. Don't worry about us. Hope you feel better soon.

Well...our first combat!
My thoughts on running things:
1. Let me know what you think of the map. It's crude, I know, but I think it should do the job for now. Please include coordinates whenever possible, so I can be precise with your movements and targets.
2. Please roll damage for any attack roll, even if you think it's going to be a miss.
3. I intend to always make passive rolls for the PCs (like I did with your initiative in this battle) to keep things moving along quicker.
I know several of you have experience as players/GMs in other pbp games, and I welcome your thoughts and experiences on what works well for keeping combats smooth and easy for all concerned. Thanks!

Well, the one thing I can think of that kills PBP games right quick that I've seen (only on here once, but elsewhere a couple of times) is trying to be a stickler on acting in initiative order. Just for example, say Vaashti nat-20d her init roll - most of the players would be stuck waiting until she wakes up in the morning to act, and then some of us sleep during the "day" for various reasons, which would cause combat to extend out for about three times as long as it needs to.
Also, your map doesn't seem to include who's where, so just declaring a charge at the closest maggot.
EDIT: Oh, right. One last thing and then I'll need to step out for a bit - especially in this campaign with Mythic, try to be aware of who's got a "Last Word" style effect that might help things. These are spells like Timely Inspiration or Saving Finale that work on Immediate-or-faster actions to change a final outcome. Typically, you'll probably only want to hold up the action on particularly dramatic, "that failed save just killed someone" potential uses, but Mythic has a fairly large number of them added to the great ones Bards and Clerics can already have as spells.

Did you see the link I posted right after the initiative order? I edited it in there after you posted I think. You should be able to see 'tokens' I made for all the PCs as well as the enemies (and the dead spider as terrain).

Does anyone have a problem with initiative 'clusters'? I think some games handle things where all of the PCs' actions are resolved in post order until it's time for the enemies/NPCs to act. In this case, I would resolve Aaliyah's action, then Jens' and then Kel's. After the enemies act, then we cluster up the next PC actions in order of posting to conclude the round.
Jens Varmodsson |
If I'm reading this right, then Aaliyah would have charged to J-3. So... ignore my post, I guess Jens will just move this round.
