I have found that I have to go to some national guard mandatory fun in June. From the 3rd to the 23rd I’ll have limited internet connectivity. While I’ll finally learn how to use an m249 light machine gun...it’ll limit my posting. My apologies in advance.

Hooah!! I was an m249 gunner for the first four years of my time in the army, and it was my favorite of all the weapons I used. Enjoy it!

Sven is going to go into NPC status while I make a new Hellknight. While Sven is fun, he’s too “hyper-efficient” and I wanted to go with someone more versatile.

So, meet Aurilous. Fighter->Hellknight/Oracle. He’s an Iron Caster, which makes him highly mobile (Dimension Door and Flight) and good at support (Breath of Life and Restoration) as Spell like abilities 8x times per day.

Character isn’t finished yet, but most likely he’ll be the warrior we are rescuing from the fire.

Order of the Godclaw!

It just feels the most "Crusader" of the Orders. From the wiki...

The Hellknights follow revised doctrines to stamp out disorder, particularly its divine embodiments and beings of absolute chaos, with religious zeal. Rather than targeting the faiths of prominent religions, the order sets its eyes on supporting lawful crusades (such as the wars fought by Molthune and Mendev) and being at the vanguard of battles against the forces of chaos

The Order of the Godclaw began with Seldinin Choaz, a ranking member of the Order of the Pyre, who led four of his fellow Hellknights to aid the First Mendevian Crusade in 4623 AR. Their successes abroad won them the unofficial title, Order of the Godclaw. The group continued its crusade against the Worldwound demons until 4665 AR, when they abandoned the Leaden Cathedral in Mendev at the start of the Third Mendevian Crusade to return to Cheliax. Impressed by their efforts, the Order of the Pyre sponsored the small but wealthy group, formalizing the Order of the Godclaw as a recognised Hellknight order. Construction of Citadel Dinyar began soon afterwards.

Aurilous Background, based on Stolen Fury Campaign Trait:

Aurilous was born in the crusader city of Kenabres. He was born a normal child, in the family of crusaders. He had thought that he would walk in their footsteps, and that in time he too would take up arms against the demons of the world-wound. That is, until his life changed.

Aurilous forced to take part in a demonic ritual as a youth after having been captured by cultists. Whatever the ritual’s purpose may have been, it didn’t work out the way his captors envisioned—rather than corrupting his soul, he absorbed the ritual’s energy and made it your own before he escaped to safety. Ever since, he has been haunted by strange nightmares about the ritual, and has long felt that the energies it bathed him in has changed him.

While he did manage to escape, the young Aurilous was forever changed. It started with the nightmares, and slowly got worse from there. As he reached maturity, he began to find that he was physically changing as well. On his hand, a symbol was beginning to form. It was the sign of Asmodeus Horrified at what was happening, and afraid of going to his parents, the young Aurilous eventually confided what he had gone through and what happened to him to a dwarven cleric of Torag. He begged the dwarf to cure him of the curse, before the Iomedean Inquisitors found out his secret.

Little did he know that the cleric was a follower of the Godclaw, who had come to Kenarbres to lend his hammer to the front-lines against Chaos. The dwarf explained to Aurilous that he was not doomed to evil, no more than he was born to good. But rather, there was a path that he could walk which would save him. The path of order. With little else to hold onto, Aurilous readily agreed.

The dwarf, much to Aurilous' horror, went to his parents. Within a week, rather than facing the flames of the inquisitors, he was instead sent to Isger, and the Hellknight fortress that is Citadel Dinyar.

Since then, Aurilous has grown into a man. He has learned through constant practice and meditation to not only control the energies that he has absorbed, but to control them, in the name of the Godclaw. Where once he was horrified at the symbol of Asmodeus, burnt onto his hand, he now displays it proudly. It is but one of the many holy symbols that has been burnt onto his flesh.

With the fall of Kenabres, he has returned to his homeland. Now an adult, he sees the world with a new perspective. He has seen first hand the depravity of evil. He has experienced that fear that comes with good unrestrained. What he has learned is that what the world needs is order. For without order, everything falls apart.

As a child, Aurilous dreamed of marching against the demons of the world wound. That dream has now come true, only he marches under the colors of the Hellknights.

There is his background. Did my best to base it off of his campaign trait.


So...I just realized that the hellknight disciplines are neutered by a sentence:

"The Hell Knight can use any one discipline a number of times per day equal to the total number of disciplines he has access to, so at 3rd level he can use his discipline once per day."

However, Penatmic Faith gives the Hellknight a Cleric Domain. For example:

Law Domain (Touch of Law (Sp): You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, infusing it with the power of divine order and allowing it to treat all attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 round as if the natural d20 roll resulted in an 11. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.")

Would the hellknight use touch of law 1/day, or 3+wis per day? I believe RAW is 1/day, but wanted to check with you.

(1) Legendary Armor. Intelligent and spellcasting
-1x day Bed of Iron (can sleep in armor without penalty)
-3x day Lessor Restoration
-3x day Grace (swift action, 1 Round movement doesn’t provoke AOOs)

Also doesn’t require food, and while he needs 2x water he can create it via a cantrip.

Gave him this to make his armor as adventurable as possible. Plus it just felt right to have Legendary Hellknight armor

Ah, damn! You're right. I threw Maw and Claw in at the last moment because I liked the idea of never being disarmed. I'll replace the Claws with:

Soul Seer (Rare tieflings have a peculiar sight that allows them to see the state of a creature’s soul. They can use deathwatch at will as spell-like ability. This racial trait replaces the spell-like ability and fiendish sorcery racial traits.)
