575

Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Having no clue what this strange creature might be, 575 decides to give it some in return, as he does his best to stomp it into the ground.
Unknown sightless worm
Its intentions are quite clear.
Pummel it in kind

"Parkour!" When 575 moves into strike with fists of fury, Aiden leaps up and kicks off the wall, sending him sailing over the worm. He lands and hacks at the worm, nearly simultaneously, managing to look cool and be effective for the first time in a long while.

END COMBAT
The unidentified (possibly Agathion creature they've got birds and fox headed things so why not land lampreys too, right?) worm thing settles into two distinct halves on the dank dungeon floor spilling out its clear blood.
575, I'll still need that Fort save from above. What does everyone want to do?

"Oy, what's this!" Aquavius stands proudly, her trident ready to... watch Aiden bisect it.

Candledark tries to conceal himself in the crowd...
Stealth, Shadow Speaker: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25
Top-Side
The crowd scatters as nearly everyone looks concerned about what the revelation that Jaks (Or was it Jacks? Or maybe Jax?) was secretly spying on them all along and now under his guise as the notorious Printsmith might reveal their secrets to the world!

Reggie, Candledark, what do you do?
...looks out at the small-but-ominous fleet...

“Noodles! Madge got yer doodly oodly noodles! Get these crabby shrimpy noodlies in a bowl! In a cup! In yer hands! I don’t care where! Buy my dang noodles! Save Pezzack! The end is near! The end is near! Save your noodles! The devil hates my noodles! Abrogail hates my noodles! Madge’s noodles! HAHAHAHA!”
While Old Madge cackles madly, her goblin assistant, Snapjack, pelts the crowd with rotten fish heads he's been carrying around all morning in a big sack.
...then back to Mad Madge and the Ooodly-Doodlies.

Yes.

While the miracle of the noodle cart people in the crowd believe they have more pressing things to worry about.
"Damn House Thrune!"
"How did they get in so close!?"
"Why aren't they firing from the Shorewall!?"
"They're making for Whaler's Point!"
"Where's Curl, and the other rebels!? Why aren't they doing something!?"
"It'll be the Ashes all over again!"

Weekend got away from me, so hopefully, it's not too late to do any of this.
Reggie finds no other openings and rides back around to the stage side of the warehouse just in time to see Candledark do his literal magic with the noodles. He hears the crowd beginning to panic and drags Rowdy to a halt, standing up in the saddle.
He begins to speak.
"Friends! You fear that Jacks(ks)(x) is going to reveal your true allegiances! So what? Who cares? Everyone here knows your allegiance. Or where your allegiance should be!"
He points to one random guy in the crowd. "I know your true allegiance!"
His finger goes to a woman. "And yours!"
He points to another man. "And yours!
"You are Pezzackis! That is your true allegiance. These men and women who stand next to you are the ones who you should stand with and who you should trust to stand with you!"
Now he points out to the Chelaxians. "These thrice damned devil thralls have forced you to live like rats in a cage, feeding off each other for too long! Band together! Stand together and show them that you are men and women, not rats! And know that there are people outside who will stand with you outside these borders!"
"Thank you...excuse me."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
He does not wait long enough to see if his speech inspires anyone but instead drops back into the saddle, wheels Rowdy around and barrels into the warehouse.
He takes one look at the trapdoor and curses softly. He climbs down from Rowdy and then down the ladder then coaxes the wolf down after him.
I assume it's not such a long drop it would kill Rowdy? He can't climb down, obviously.
575
|
575 continues on the trail of their quarry but, after getting ambushed by the giant grub, he is now a little more wary of unexpected ambushes and traps on the way. Though he does wonder how Jax/ks/cks managed to avoid the worm...
Can't be far ahead
Yet walked right by that creature.
What else has he passed?
Continue the pursuit... a little less pell-mell! =)

Down the stairs through a long, long, low-vaulted gallery that echoes eerily with every foot fall, through a small tangle of rough-hewn corridors, and finally up more stairs, around a corner and--Whoa!
575 finds himself confronted by a dusty section of floor without any foot prints along its surface. Just beyond one corner the trail picks up again.

Obviously*. ;) Actually Reggie could probably get his canine companion to climb a ladder. He wouldn't be able to ride him down and if you had a really ornate saddle on him Reggie might have to remove it. It would be a handle animal check to 'push' Rowdy to do it (DC 25). Now your war mammoth mount, that's another story. It's about 20' feet down. Alternately, Reggie could (assuming he is strong enough) 'fireman carry' Rowdy down.
* GM Fun Fact I used to have an Aussie Cattle Dog--though he didn't have a docked tail. They're great!

Wait, some sort of pit trap?
575 holds up one scaled hand, with a frown, as he kneels down and looks at the floor.
Clear demarcation
From here all the way to there
I think it's a pit
He says, quietly, trying to point out the edges as best he can.
Is it possible to jump to that corner? Or enough of a ledge to squeeze past? Or are we going to need to disable it?
If so:
Our quarry went past
So there must be a trigger
Perhaps over there?

Ah yes, I have to remember that I should never underestimate the intelligence of a dog or their dedication to doing things to please their humans.
Reggie shows Rowdy how to climb down the ladder a couple times then does what he can to coax his wolf down in imitation.
Handle Animal (Push) plus Link: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 4 = 30
Rowdy gets it easily. Or at least makes it seem easy. Reggie spends several seconds ruffling his fur and telling him what a good wolf he is before jumping on Rowdy's back and rushing to follow his fellow Pathfinders.

It is possible to jump it and land in a hall you want. Basically you run at it from a slight angle, and aim for the opposing hallway wall. If you slam into the wall you know you've made it.
Our quarry went past
So there must be a trigger
Perhaps over there?
575 springs across to a short hallway that ends in a door 10 feet in.
Meanwhile, further back, Reggie and Rowdy come upon the remains of the horrible worm.
| The World's Most Interesting GM |
575 will look to see if there's some sort of mechanism to deactivate the trap on this side...
No luck. Remember too that there are no footprints on the area 575 believes is trapped.
575

Finding nothing, he instead turns his attention to the door, watching it carefully for other threats, as the others figure out how to get past the potentially trapped area, ready to assist those trying to cross if needed.
Hopefully someone can disable it =)
If not, he'll try to aid anyone jumping/climbing/etc past.

Map (slide 5) updated. Everyone make sure you are in the right spot.
Now, since we are still technically not in tactical movement mode you have the choice of being all squeezed together in a 5x10' corridor or having the remainder of the party stay back while the group that is up near the door opens it. Just be aware that there is such a thing as being in an illegal space once a tactical situation begins.

Aiden fiddles with what he thinks is the controlling mechanism along one of the floor section's seams.
Aquavius waves helpfully, but something in the back of her mind is trying to tell her something.
Meanwhile, Reggie--letting Rowdy sniff his way along the corridors, closes in on his friends.

Aiden, did you include the +2 for using your masterwork tools?
575 looks at the section of floor dubiously, after Aiden finishes with it.

575 tests the suspicious mechanism. It still looks like a floor.
Alas, without disable device (or maybe knowledge (engineering), and a good roll) you can never be quite sure.
| The World's Most Interesting GM |
The floor remains unaccountably still.
Aquavius
|
"So, are we secure?" Aquavius shrugs. Impatient, she grabs some rope, secures it to the floor, ties it around her waist, then kicks the probable trap door. If it doesn't fly open, she walks across.
"Sometimes we gotta take some risk to hurry things up."
| The World's Most Interesting GM |
The spring-loaded floor does not catapult Aquavius upward into the stone ceiling laminating her there.
It seems okay.
Aquavius

Huh, that's actually a good counter to someone expecting a spike pit.
Aquavius returns to her rope and unties it. "Good job. Let's get going before we turn gray."

Aiden puts away his tools as the halfling shows up. "Nice of you to join us. Is the crowd rioting yet? Or did our guy actually do something with that wand?" He draws his sword again.
"Ok, open that door and let's find him"
Reggie Bottleberry
|
"Sorry to take so long. I tried to find another way in then tried to get the crowd riled up, but they weren't particularly riley, unfortunately."
He looks around in confusion. "I didn't expect to find you so soon, actually. What happened?"
He hasn't noticed anything unusual about the floor and rides right out on it.

Someone has put a sort of large modern art installation seemingly made of rock or dull coral or such right in the doorway--Wait. Did it just move? AAAAAH!
575 finds himself staring into a collection of complicated, scything mouthparts.
Aquavius suddenly remembers what Jaks (or whatever his name is) was trying to tell her and the others.
