Schmitty: Your rat went poof after the hyena dropped it to 0 hp. Also, the nearest enemy is 110 ft. away, and there's a boulder blocking your shot. You could try arcing over, but the hyena effectively has total cover from you due to current positions. Unless you say otherwise, I'm going to have you and Chavi move her speed (50 ft.) closer to everything that's going on.

Niko casts a spell and, starts out after the wagon, laughing at the irony of things.

Moneta manages to get Sadie to move a little closer to the action.

Schmitty and Chavi move in a little on things, and Schmitty fires a bolt at the hyena next to Karg. His bolt skids to a stop in the sands and rocks 20 ft. from the hyena.

The hyena bites at Karg, but fails to do more than sling a little slobber on his boot.

Priggle yells back,"Don't worry, we're not leaving. I'm just heading for something that needs to be run over!" He laughs, snaps the reins and turns the wagon towards the gnoll that fired the magic missiles at hims seconds ago. The gnoll feebly tries to stab one of the horses, but the horse and wagon easily overrun him, crushing him to nothing but a bloody mess. And the wagon is out of movement with the gnoll shaman underneath.

Karg slams his greatsword down hard towards the gnoll below him.

In the event, the gnoll is still standing, Spitz will try to finish him off.

Karg will then flick the reigns of Spitz, and urge him forward 50' towards the two gnolls that are now in front of the cart.

Assuming Evan is still safely out of range of the hyena in the wagon, he will shoot at it, trying to kill it before focusing on the new threat. His short sword is still in his right hand.

If it doesn't prompt an attack of opportunity due to the gnoll being so far away from his perch on the roof, Evan will use his move action to get off the now-stopped wagon so that he doesn't have to go toe-to-toe with the bad guy. Ranged fighting is where it's at.


Evan: Thanks for pointing out your hyena, I'd forgotten about it. ;)
FYI, the wagon is still moving. Priggle didn't stop it, he used it to overrun the gnoll shaman. He's going to stop actively driving, which means the horses will slow to a stop over the course of the next two rounds, coming to a halt at the end of Priggle's turn in round 5.

The hyena in the wagon lunges forward, trying in vain to bite Evan, and failing pathetically.

Karg puts a vicious gash into the body of the hyena near him, causing it to drop to the ground. He and Spitz then start hastily making their way towards the wagon.

As Evan lifts his pistol to fire again at the hyena, the hyena bites his right ankle and pulls his leg forward enough that he falls off balance, nearly out the back of the wagon, but instead lands on one of the crates. As he crashes through the crate, his pistol goes off, lodging a bullet in the right eye of the hyena. It flops to the bed of the wagon, unmoving.

The gnoll in the tree tries to continue climbing towards his bow, but slips, and fails to catch himself. He crashes to the ground with a loud thud and a puff of dust. He doesn't move after the fall.

The two gnolls the wagon just pasted fire an arrow each at Karg and Spitz. The one nearly strikes Karg, while the other lands solidly into Spitz. Karg feels his trusted friend nearly topple after the arrow connects. 9 more damage to Spitz, putting him at 0 and staggered.

The savage brute of a gnoll roars and rips a large hole in the wagon cover, and drops into the wagon with ease, but nearly stumbles over the corpse of the hyena.

Seeing the caster-gnoll get run over, and the tree-gnoll fall to his death, Niko will laugh some more. Mentally changing targets Niko will continue running after the wagon, getting closer to both it and the gnolls still on the ground.

Did the savage gnoll traveling the distance from the top of the wagon to the interior -- I'm guessing potentially more than a 5-foot step -- provoke an AoO from me?

Also, I'd still like to use my move action to get off the wagon. Can I make an Acrobatics check to see if I can jump & roll safely off and avoid the horses? Evan can't go toe-to-toe with melee combatants. Please advise on what sort of roll(s) I need to make.

Editing Evan's round 3 action description: As Evan lifts his pistol to fire again at the hyena, the hyena bites his right ankle and pulls his leg forward enough that he falls off balance, squeezes the trigger, planting a bullet in the hyena's right eye, and manages to push with his left leg, lifting him up off the wagon, and out the back. He barely misses the horses and lands flat on his back on the hard dirt. He's next to the remains of the gnoll shaman. 6 damage from the hyena bite, 9 damage from the fall. 15 damage total.

Niko and Moneta continue chasing after the wagon.

Schmitty plants a bolt in the body of the unconscious hyena between he and Niko, finishing it off.

Karg heals Spitz, allowing her to continue towards the gnoll archers, biting one where its neck and should join viciously.

The wagon, and presumably Priggle and the gnoll savage, move another 50 ft., obviously slowing.

Though you can't really see, I'm posting this anyway. Priggle hops over the back of the drivers bench, and stabs the gnoll savage.

Moneta manages to get a firm grip on the reins and reaches an understanding with Sadie, moving in roughly the right direction.

100' double move closer to the wagon. This gets her about 40' from Karg if I'm reading the maps right.

Evan gets up and dusts himself off. He sheathes his short sword as he moves 30 feet diagonally to the northwest (4 squares), reloading his pistol at the same time. He is looking to put as much distance between the Wagon of Assured Death and himself as possible, and hopefully regroup with the party.

The two gnolls swing axes, but fail to strike anything but air.

Rule 0: Chavi can move up to 100 ft. with Schmitty being able to cast a spell (Concentration DC 10 + spell level), or Chavi can move between 101 ft and 200 ft. with Schmitty being able to cast a spell (Concentration DC 15 + spell level). That's a variant from the corebook. Corebook says's the vigorous motion part, which is why I had Chavi stop before I cast. However, in light of this I'll just have Chavi close the distance this round and I'll base next round's actions based on what the situation looks like then.

The savage gnoll finally crashes to the dirt before the wagon moves a little farther, and then comes to a stop. Priggle climbs out the whole the savage ripped, but falls on his face.

She'll gesture with her free hand, and a glittering bird of razorblades and wire manifests itself in the air 25' away from her, towards the wagon. "Kill any Gnolls in the wagon!" And it takes off.

Summon Bladehawk (Standard action)

Bladehawk moves 60' towards the wagon; I don't know if it will make it there with anything to attack with.

Evan moves 30 feet southeast and then south again towards the rest of the party. Once he's within range of Schmitty and Niko, he stands up straight and brings his hands to his sides -- including the one with the loaded pistol.

He tips his hat back ever so slightly and begins to recite a soliloquy that sounds like it comes from a play or book of some sort, his accent going away entirely, as he speaks in a confident tone:

"Tired, we are:
tired from injury and warmaking -- but not bowed.
The enemy will never see us bowed."

Moving 3 squares diagonally SE, then 2 squares south, now standing 30' behind Niko and 20' away from Chavi and Schmitty. Evan already made his Knowledge check to ID the gnolls in a previous round. All of those within 30' of him now gain a +1 insight bonus to AC and on attack rolls vs. the gnolls, plus a +1 insight bonus on any (Sp), (Su), or (Ex) abilities they may have.

(If I am within range to do so - I am having trouble identifying targets on your map, I will attempt to do a Single Target Intimidate after moving closer to the one fleeing, to get him to stop.)


Karg will ride right up beside the gnoll and will shout down, "Stop, surrender and you may yet live!"

Karg and Spitz will double move to the square directly below the gnoll, so if he moves more than 5', he will drawn an AoO. Moving to that square though, will have drawn an AoO from the gnoll.

0 hp is disabled and staggered, but conscious, actually ... you can take a single move action with no problem, or a single standard action (not both). Taking a standard or 'other strenuous' action will make you lose 1 hp, though.

I wasn't sure. Thank you.

When his turn rolls around Schmitty takes a standard action to cast a spell (Infernal Healing). He loses one hit point, falling unconscious, but quickly comes to as the spell does it's work.

Over the course of the next minute, Schmitty's wounds seem to knit themselves together.

Soooo....What's going on?

DM Black Fang is currently without both a car (needed to get to his job) and an Internet connection outside of going to a coffee shop. He's working on both of these problems, and will be happy to resume the game when at least one of them is solved. (Car likely comes first, but makes it easier for him to go to a coffee shop.)
