I set some people on fire last time. Plus the ships are already burning. And pirates. Pretty good day so far. And I bet they have more stuff we can steal like last time.

Once the longboat is brought aboard the ship, you can see people climbing about the rigging, preparing to set sail out of the harbor. You also notice a couple people at the other ships railing looking out at your ship.

M Half Orc Bloodrager 6 / Init +3; Perc +10 / AC 22(26), 11, 20 / hp 31/(76) / F+9, R+5, W+7

Let's go over for a visit!

Since the consensus seems to be attacking the other ship, Ragnar orders everyone to get their weapons ready and turns the wheel to head over to the pirate ship. Judging from the activity on their deck, they realize that you intend to attack them and are making preparations to both repell boarders and to try to outsail you if possible.

When we get close enough to exchange blows, Patch will cast Shield.
Sailor check to help us catch the pirates: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Initiative: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31

What exactly...are we doing? Just blowing up their ship?

Deron just gives a grunt as a response and lifts his sword for battle.

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

"I would rather we save any captives and then burn their ship down. Or kill them and sell it. Or capture them and turn them over to the authorities of the town they just set on fire."

Same here. The ship's worth money, and there could be something in it for us, too.

Everyone go ahead and roll initiative.
Pirates Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 3

Due to your superior sailing and their getting a late start, you will be able to catch up to the pirate vessel. I will have initiative begin when you are 30 feet from their ship. You may post your first round actions accordingly.

Round 1

Init: 31, AC: 14, HP: 14/14

Lunthawg will cast Evil Eye on any target that it looks like his allies will be firing on.

Will save DC: 15, -2 AC

Round 1 Initiative: 6, AC: 20, hp: 22/22

Deron readies to attack anything that comes on to the ship.

Round 1 Actions

From previous experience, Lunthawg knows his allies are likely to fire upon the pirates archers. So he attempts to hex one. save 1d20 ⇒ 3 failed

Hoga, Patch and Daniel all fire upon the pirates. Hoga's shot thunks into the side of the ship while Patch and Daniel's both find their mark and two pirates fall to the deck. Deron readies to repel any boarders.

Your crew: Signe is below deck right now with the girls since they are not ready for combat yet. Ragnar is at the helm, Olaf in the crowsnest and Jens up in the rigging.

Two remaining crossbowmen fire, aiming at Patch and Daniel t/p 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 confirm 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 nope 1d8 ⇒ 5 and t/d 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 1d8 ⇒ 4 Both pirates find their mark, hitting both Patch 5pts and Daniel 4pts

Lunthawg, your target died.

A man who appears in command of the pirates (he's giving orders at least) comes up upon the deck, but he is holding one of the women that they had just kidnapped in front of him as a shield. Someone is beside him holding onto the other woman and he appears to be casting something. If you make a spellcraft check you can recognize Mage Armor.

Two pirates attempt to swing over 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 one makes it onto your ship the other doesn't make it off his and two throw out grapples 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 one hits and one does not.

The pirate that makes it over sets off Deron's ready, go ahead and state that and then everyone make your round 2 actions.

An 8 doesn't hit me, I assume what happened is you saw the crit and inserted the confirm after it, which on these forums shifts the dice around. I'm guessing you actually got a 16 to hit me, which does.

Round 3

The combined efforts of Patch and Daniel fells the enlarged sorcerer as both bolts find their mark. The woman he was holding onto is knocked down by his fall, but looks to be ok otherwise.
Lunthawg casts upon one of the pirates failed his save flanking Deron as he gives one a mighty slash with his sword. Hoga misses an archer by mere inches.

The Captain of the other ship holds a dagger to the woman's throat and yells out to you all. "Stop fighting and surrender or I will kill both of these women as you watch!" The remaining pirates on their ship hold their actions to see what you do.

Is it possible for Mage Hand to wrest the dagger out of his hand?

No, Mage Hand specifies only unattended items can picked up.

I agree. Patch will reload as well, but will wait for what the captain says.

attack deron 1d20 ⇒ 10
girl break grapple 1d20 ⇒ 6

Lunthawg casts at another pirate and Deron fells one of the pirates he is fighting and the other misses his blow.

Captain Ragnar counter offers: "Let the girls go unharmed and we will consider letting you live!"

On the pirate ship the captain's hostage struggles feebly against him, but fails to break free. The girl that was held by the now dead sorcerer stands up and attempts to stab at the captain with a dagger. Seeing the movement out of the corner of his eye he easily turns and dodges her clumsy attack, however until his next action the girl is no longer directly between you and the captain.

M Half Orc Bloodrager 6 / Init +3; Perc +10 / AC 22(26), 11, 20 / hp 31/(76) / F+9, R+5, W+7

On your own ship, Deron and the remaining pirate continue to fight. Deron deals a mighty slash while his opponent misses yet again.

Three shots are fired at the Captain, though only one hit it's target. The Captain curses aloud and slashes out at his hostage, though his blow is weak from the wound just taken and he barely grazes her. The other girl lashes out at the Captain again and grazes his arm as he fended off her clumsy blow. Still hanging onto the girls arm, he 5 foot steps towards the railing of his ship. Clearly intending to fling her overboard with his next move.
