Amandine Santon |

I was accepted into another WftC campaign so I've jumped over to it.
Best of luck with your recruitment guys! If you find a DM and need to pick up a new player (or more), you could take a look at the recruitment thread for the other campaign.
One of the characters in particular,
Photinè Michèle was really excellent. I was very surprised she wasn't picked for the other one, and she seems like a good Amandine replacement. There are plenty of others as well.

Chiara "Chana" Durante |

I'm here too!

DM Vayelan |

Hello everyone. With your leave, I will be taking over as GM to continue the campaign. I've read over the Gameplay log, and now I am getting acquainted with the character backgrounds and familiarizing myself with the Gala portion of the AP book.
We should have the game running again by this evening.

Chiara "Chana" Durante |

Awesome! Let me know if you have questions on anything you see in Chana's profile. Also, let us know what kind of expectations/thoughts you may have for the campaign.
Big thumbs up from me for taking this on. It looks like a real doozy to GM for, so your willingness (and bravery :>) to do so is really appreciated.
Based on my past experience with games that slow down or sit idle for a bit, it'll take a little while to get up and running again, so bear with us!

Photinè Michèle |

Hey, my wife has been following this thread and noticed that Amandine recommended me! I was asked to join another WFTC campaign, but it seems to have died before it started (and honestly it didn't feel like a good fit anyways). Not trying to insert myself, but if y'all decide to pick up another player I would love to be considered. If not, it's still super flattering to have been mentioned, and best of luck to everyone!

Photinè Michèle |

Awesome! Provided everyone else is okay having me on board, @DM Vayelan is there a certain way you’d want me to introduce Photiné, or could I just hop in and say Martella met with her separately?

DM Vayelan |

@Photiné, I imagine you would be part of the crowd gathered around to hear the princess' address, giving you an opportunity to introduce yourself to the party afterwards.
Given the political cloak and dagger nature of the evening, though, it seems unlikely that the party would simply accept a random new acquaintance into their mission.
Therefore, it would probably be best to introduce Photiné as an existing agent of Martella's, brought along as additional help to ensure things go smoothly - and to also ensure that Martella actually gets to enjoy a gala, for once!

Chiara "Chana" Durante |

Welcome Photine! Really glad we managed to pick you up and get a full 6 man group going.
As for mission assignments, I think Fraud was not being done by 'Fraud' but by Chana! :D

Chiara "Chana" Durante |

I've been having a heck of a hard time keeping what Chana knows about the various nobility straight, so I made myself a little dossier and filled it in with what info she's been exposed to so far. I have a link to it in my stat bar.
If anyone else wants to do the same, feel free to make a copy of the sheet for yourself and adjust it to match what your character knows.

Chiara "Chana" Durante |

I think I'll hold off for a bit to allow Khalil and Olivia to catch up with their social rounds.
I just wanted to say, Vayelan, I'm really blown away with the interesting stuff that's coming out of our influence and other social round rolls. I'm not sure how much of that is directly baked into the written content in the AP and how much is your own improvisation based on what's provided, but either way I'm impressed and I'm really enjoying it :>
Happy 4th of July to all the US-based folks!

Well, that just made my day! Thank you!

Thanks Chana, sorry for falling behind
Regarding the comment about no slight of hand for the theft mission, I'm wondering if I could potentially use my heritage and convince Miss Vau to let me take back the items.
At first, I was planning to either stay far away from the theft mission, or help facilitate it, but now I'm wondering...

Regarding the comment about no slight of hand for the theft mission, I'm wondering if I could potentially use my heritage and convince Miss Vau to let me take back the items.
I was wondering something similar. If that doesn't work, could Bluff be used to try to concoct some story about the items needed to be taken away for cleaning or restoration or something?
Also I want to second Chana's comments about your performance as GM so far. Your responses are incredibly detailed, and it really helps get the feeling of being at a large social event with lots of interesting personalities.

Damrak Lendar |

@DM - just to second what the others have said, this is excellent and that tracker in particular is incredibly useful.
Can I just check though that Countess Pace is still un-influenced? Also, did we not discover during the speech that her true loyalties are to herself?
She's one of my targets so I just wanted to check that her details are up to date.

DM Vayelan |

Countess Pace remains un-influenced. Based on what you've observed about her, I will say that you have suspicions about her true loyalties but not solid evidence that can be brought to Martella.
As a result, I will give you a +2 bonus on Influence checks to put her at ease and a +4 to the Sense Motive check to confirm her attitude and complete her half of the Discovery Mission.

Khalil al-Shirin Duvan |

Yeah I'll confess I wasn't prepared to get back into this game as quickly. Id sort of given up hope for it after so long with no replies. So it took me a bit to get back into the head space to play Khalil and an intrigue game. But for what its worth I am gonna try to be more active. You're doing an amazing job Vayelan, thanks again for taking over.

Starting on the 16th I'm going to be away on a quasi-vacation to the other side of Canada. My grandfather is passing away and my family is travelling out to see him. I'll be back on the 29th. Unfortunately, internet isn't going to be a thing where I'm headed, so its very unlikely that I'll be able to post at all.

Damrak Lendar |

BTW, I know I previously mentioned it, but I've now set up a recruitment thread for the Kingmaker/Ultimate Intrigue mashup game. Link to the recruitment thread is here for anyone who's interested.

Khalil al-Shirin Duvan |

@Damrak - Yeah I definitely applied.
@DM Vayelan - So are we allowed to know a little about how the whole Weakness/Influence System works? I assume Influence is pretty simple since it appears there are a certain number of successful rolls with their Influence Skills. But how does Weakness work? Are Weaknesses always Influence Skills but just certain ones that have a bonus to them? If you discover a Weakness it is just a thematic bonus to your future Influence rolls cause you know that weakness? Like I think I learned that the Princess had a Weakness for animals. I dont know if that means that I gained a bonus that theoretically could have been spent on my Influence roll by mentioning a love of animals as well, or if really that was just hinting that Handle Animal would be a more worth while Influence skill. Just trying to understand whatever we are allowed to about the system itself.

DM Vayelan |

With Influence Checks on NPCs, once you achieve a certain number of successes - usually 2 or 3 - you unlock a mechanical gameplay benefit (such as the reroll from Princess Eutropia), as well as implicit roleplaying and story benefits, such as gaining new friends and allies.
As for how Weaknesses work, once you discover an NPC's "weakness," you gain a +4 bonus on future Influence Checks targeting them. This bonus also applies to the rest of the party, assuming you share the discovered information with them. In character, it's assumed that you use this "weakness" as a subject of discussion, a suggestion, a threat, or otherwise work it into the conversation to play upon the NPC's social vulnerabilities.

Khalil al-Shirin Duvan |

Okay great. So basically with the Princess, it could be assumed that part of why she welcomed me in was commenting about some favored pet of mine that I missed being so far away from it in the capital. Since I know she loves animals that gave me the mechanical +4 to Influence. It wasn't that I needed to roll Handle Animal. And anyone told about that could comment on similar things to attract her attention. Awesome that makes more sense to me now. I like this social engagements in this Campaign even if I dont have as many skills to participate in them as Id like. Hah

I'm back guys, thanks for the botting. I had completely forgotten about the Aide mission. Do I have any other messages on me that need to be delivered? Or just this one I'm waiting for?
Good luck on your game, Damrak. I really liked that concept.

DM Vayelan |

@Olivia: You've delivered the first message to Count Zespire. He then had you wait while he composed a new message to be delivered to Junior Senator Dou, who happens to be the guy that Malphene is intimidating.
After that, Martella has messages for Lady Gloriana (who will send a reply to Martella) and to Duke Centimus.
Finally, Martella will ask you to deliver a file folder to the archives.

DM Vayelan |

Hmmm. The book says that Martella hands over the messages for Gloriana and Centimus during the check in with her, which we just completed. I must have missed that.
Since it's reasonable to assume she gave Olivia the messages when the two briefly talked privately, we'll say that Olivia already has those two.
For the archive delivery, you'll have to report back to Martella after delivering the messages.

Photinè Michèle |

Reviewing the Sabotage mission, I don't believe any of us have ranks in Disable Device--can I attempt it untrained when the time comes or perhaps there's another skill I could reasonably use?
