Meepo meanwhile has slipped out of the room and you hear him call out, louder than you would have liked, "There's more stuff in here!"

He comes back into the room with the cages and begins dropping stuff on the floor.

"These were in that room with all the boxes. There's more stuff too."

In total, you find the following:
-3 unmarked potions
-a set of masterwork studded leather that has a large black X sewn onto its back
-a masterwork longsword that has a band of deep black metal halfway up the length
-22gp

Savien was keeping the Loot Sheet on his character sheet. I'll link to a new loot sheet in the header that you guys can keep updated. The only thing I will move to it for now is the gold.

GM: I replied to your spoiler with a spoiler of my own on the previous page....

Kessai pulls a spiked gauntlet and a dagger from the barrel. Both appear to be rusted but serviceable.

Meepo looks at the longspear and says, "Whoa. That's big. How do you even use something like that?"

After a minute he tilts his head and says, "I could fix that for you. But you don't have any way to pay me in kind..."

Kessai stops examining her forlorn equipment to consider the kobold.

"Yes, if you could fix it, you could fix it. And then...I could repay you by saving your life with it some day. Then again, you could leave it broken, and then we both might die."

The woman shakes the spear in the shadowy light.

"It's really up to you Meepo."

Kessai nods toward the half-orc by way of assent.

"At the next rest."

To Blitz:

"I am joining you to stay alive. Saving dragons is not my speciality, but I have heard they are gracious to their rescuers."

Kessai dons her rusty equipment, strapping the gauntlet to her left wrist and stowing the dagger in her sash. The forlorn longspear rests easily in her right hand.

"I am no warrior, but a spear keeps the enemy at length. [here makes a show of waving the spear from side to side by waggling it at her hip]. Mostly I can ensorcel our enemies to make them unfortunate. And I have a few spells of my own."

Mal'kolenth equips his own gear keeping the rapier drawn.

He asks meepo,"So what is this dragon like anyway?"

As he walks toward the door to next room he mimes the action of brushing something off his chest but keeps his hand about half a foot away. As he does so all the blood pulls off his armor and falls to the ground.

Meepo stares at the drow and blinks once. "She is blue. I think that is the question you are asking...she also is completely loyal to me."

"Come. Let's follow the orc."

Akula:
I think you still are due to level up

OK I'm going to assume based on what Akula said that you will press on through the storage room where you murdered the goblins.

Akula carefully opens the door. Several torches mounted in crude wall sconces burn fitfully in this chamber, filling the air with a haze that blurs sight. A double row of marble columns carved with entwining dragons marches the length of the hall.

You notice there are a total of 5 doors leading out of this room. Three to the North, and one each to the West and South.

This room is well lit but that is not always the case...who is holding the torch?

Also the map has been updated

Thanks! That got lost in life getting busy. I'll take care of it tonight.

Akula does not have the torch.

Akula began checking each door for locks and traps.

Take 10 on Perception to check over all the doors. Julio can help me out. One of us will Aid Another for the other.

Drow Male Magus 2 [HP11/18] [AC:17 T:13 FF:14 CMD:14] [Init +4] [Fort +4 Ref +3 Will +2] [Perception +2]

Following Akula, Mal'kolenth replies to Meepo,"That's a good start. What's her personality like?"

Not able to see in the dark, Kessai takes a smouldering torch from a sconce and stands attentive, trying not to blind anyone. Occasionally the witch peers at the dragons on the pillars to make sure they do not begin to writhe...

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 alternatively peering into the gloom outside of the torchlighht and close at the pillars

Akula takes his time, quietly moving to each door and checking them. One thing of note is that each door, including the one you came through has a dragon head carved into the door. The head is approximately the size of a man's head and its eyes are right at eye level.

Starting at the easternmost door along the north wall:
-There are no traps present and Akula can't hear sounds coming through the door. Strangely though, the doorknob is slightly cold to the touch.
-The middle and westernmost door along the north wall are also untrapped and devoid of any noise to indicate what might be on the other side.
-As Akula moves west in the room, he begins to hear things...voices, scuffing sounds, thumps. The noises are most obvious outside the door leading west. Once again there are no traps but there are definitely a number of voices on the other side.
-Finally, the door leading south is also untrapped. Akula is just about to move away from the door when he hear a loud goblin cackle come from the other side.

Kessai acquires a torch and examines one of the pillars. Even to your untrained eye, it is clear that the stonework is masterfully done, if VERY old. In several places, newer residents of the citadel have chipped away parts of the engraving or defaced them entirely.

Mal inquires further about Calcryx with Meepo. Meepo shakes his head and whispers as they enter the long hall, "She's too young to have too much of a personality yet. We were just about to make a new, larger cage for her when she was stolen."

Human Male Unchained Rouge [HP 4/14] [AC:15 T:12 FF:13 CMD:13] [Init +2] [Fort +0 Ref +5 Will +1] [Perception +6]

Julio follows along with this sunrod. He moves to the western door and listens to the voice to see if he can here what they are saying.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

After a moment it is clear nothing can be learned.

He then moves to the northwest corner of the room where he can watch the doors along those walls.

Akula uses his chalk to mark the cold knob with a symbol, mostly as a reminder to himself. before moving on to the other doors.

Then he holds up a hand for silence when he starts hearing things on the other side of doors. The first sounds were indistinct. Too quiet or far away to be sure of. The other though... unmistakable.

"Goblin." he said quietly.

He notched an arrow and readied to open the door, giving his allies a short countdown to prepare themselves.

Place yourselves on the map. I'm going to open the goblin door.

Drow Male Magus 2 [HP11/18] [AC:17 T:13 FF:14 CMD:14] [Init +4] [Fort +4 Ref +3 Will +2] [Perception +2]

Mal'kolenth is about to reply to Meepo when he hears Akulas warning and slides to the left of the door ready to strike if it opens.

I can't seem to locate the map - the Citadel map has three slides, none of which seem to pertain to this area. What am I missing?

Kessai stands behind Akula, ready to step to the side to look in the door, or spear something over the orc's shoulde.

You're not missing anything. Akula was prompting me to get a combat map up...which I still have not. I'll try to have it up tonight. It will be in the Citadel map link in the header, probably the last sheet of the file.

Map is up...as soon as everybody is in position, Akula can open the door.

Ok, I see it now...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Akula opens the door. The stench, garbage, rotted carrion, and half-eaten legs of strange animals speak of the years of use by unsanitary tenants. Tattered hides form six unstable hammocks slung up with makeshift spikes in the wall. Battered cooking equipment lies mixed indiscriminately with broken or worn arms and armor.

I'll assume Akula was taking 10 on Stealth as usual while opening the door.

Do they see you?:

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Four goblins are sitting in a circle throwing dice. In the far corner, a mangy creature that looks like a cross between a dog and a rat lays half asleep. Instinct more than anything causes one of the goblins to look up and gasp in surprise. There is something different about this goblin...an intelligence in its eyes...and a sizable gold chain around its neck.

Kessai's eyes widen as she spots the mangy creatures. With a flick of one bony wrist and a sibilant hiss the wyrdcaster sends a cascade of misfortune toward the closest goblin, then slips past Akula, in and into the corner, longspear held out in front of her.

Round 1
Standard Action: Misfortune hex on red goblin, DC 14.

Move Action: Move to top right corner of goblin's room, below Mal'kolenth.

Kessai reacts quickly, acting on a blend of instinct and hatred for her former captors.

Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5

She bursts into the room, all semblance of caution gone.

Goblins Turn

The small green humanoids scramble quickly to their feet. The one with the gold chain around its neck barks some orders and the three nearest the party converge on the door and surround Kessai, drawing their weapons in the process. Kessai, for her part raises her damaged spear and thrusts at the nearest goblins as it approaches.

AoO/damaged spear: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 - 2 = 8

The lead goblin draws a shortbow and takes a shot through the crowd at Akula.

Shortbow/Into Melee/Cover: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

The shot goes wild and the goblin spits out what sounds like a curse. He the gestures to his beast and it comes to heel at his feet, growling at the party.

Shortsword to the gut?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
...the goblin jabs its sword at Akula but the big man dodges with ease. Akula then liberates the poor goblins head from its shoulders.

Akula:

Mal'kolenth begins moving supernaturally fast and bursts into the room after Akula. He is sprayed with goblin blood as Akula fells the first foe in front of him.
Shortsword jab!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
The second goblin manages to raise its sword but does not get anywhere close to the fast moving drow. Mal's strike though goes wide on the lead goblin.

Blitz moves up, stepping past the dead goblin and slashing at the next one in line.

Meepo moves up and leans over to Julio to ask, "Do you think I should have just fixed the woman's spear?"

Blitz slashes with his scizore and indeed misses gloriously, the hardened steel strikes the stone floor with a clang and sprays the goblin with a handful of sparks.

The shouting goblin pushes Akula's attention back the way the party came momentarily.

Akula:
You don't see or hear anything coming from that direction, but you do know the door you heard commotion behind when you were checking them all is just to the west.

Mal'kolenth:
Sorry - didn't notice you had goblin.Beyond the general alarm Meepo mentioned, the goblin you are fighting is also doing his best to direct the goblin dog. The dog isn't really following his instructions but doesn't need much incentive to attack.

...briefly latching on to the Drow's arm, tearing at the skin.

Watching this happen, the lead goblin stops yelling and starts cackling at the elf's pain.

I believe that puts you below 0 with a total of 21 damage from the last 2 rounds.

I mentioned I got on my gear but forgot to change the AC for it on my profile. The first goblin dog strike did not hit AC 17.Sorry for the mistake. Did the goblin dog hit through my armor at that point or did it actually miss?

Nah. You're good. Just remember next time. I thought an AC of 13 looked low! Also...you're not out of the woods yet.

If the gray goblin is dead....

Julio moves to the middle of the room to provide support (or maybe just to keep Akula between himself and that ugly dog).
"Go ahead shut the door Meepo."

If the gray goblin is still alive...

"I would move into the room so we can shut the door but it's a little crowded right now."

Blitz does much better this time, getting his weapon up and drawing it across the throat of the goblin. It collapses to the ground, quite dead.

Akula sees the goblin fall and then channels his inner Gozreh. He moves to the lead goblin, raising his axe high. The small creature only has time to glance briefly over its shoulder before the axe comes down, sundering it nearly in two.

Mal - Just redirecting your attack here since the goblin is dead.
Mal'kolenth manages to redirect his strike through a spray of goblin blood at the large beast to his side. His sword slices through the skin along the front of the monster, leaving a shallow cut.

Julio enters the room. Meepo takes one look backward and then follows, shutting the door behind him.
Julio - I took the opportunity to move you into the room.
