Also, whatever this nkemba's properties, it's looking like a fantastic weapon so far with two critical hits in as many throws!

Hubristic Efreeti |

Yes, the nkemba that Yuma gave you is much better than a typical throwing dagger - you won't find one like that elsewhere.
Sansetsukon - I think we can reflavor this as another spear, with curved points on each end going in opposite directions (so roughly an elongated S shape) Call it ijika, keep same properties.
Dan Bong - knobkierie, keep same properties. These would likely be sticks instead of batons, but same idea.
Lungchuan Tamo - call it a simi, keep the same properties. Again, small change it would likely be daggers inside wooden tubes rather than batons, but same idea.
(yes some of these names don't exactly reflect what they are, but I can see there being something like the Lungchuan Tamo for example in african tribes)
I definitely want there to be
A) minimal work on your part (pretty much renaming only)
B) minimal disruption to the monk class in general (it's not like its an overpowered class)
Let me know if that covers all the weapons you are interested in!

Hubristic Efreeti |

And to actually answer your previous question Wamblee,
--If you like the new flavor, feel free to rename your existing weapons.
--All your weapons keep the same stats I think (for simplicity just change double chain kama to "assegai" and keep the same stats)
--The one exception is the shuriken - since normal hunting daggers are heavier, let's say you have 5 njiga instead of 20 shuriken. Between the nkemba and your njiga I think you still have ranged options, but let me know if this is not okay.

Wamblee Firenze |

Those change are all fine by me. I'll update Wamblee's sheet later.

Re: Samoon's HP
Ok, let's take it step at a time. Potential PC deaths need to be audited so no one gets shafted.
1) I'm not 100% sure about Samoon's current HP. That is, I was going off the 17 HP I saw in the header at the beginning of combat.
2) Looking back, you were at -2 after getting hit for 15 damage a few pages ago, which confuses me because the original total was 17. You got healed for 3, so I can see where the 1 HP you mentioned is coming from.
3) Now, technically speaking, the first thing that happened was the acid attack for 10, and let's say worst case scenario you are at -9 at that point.
4) I fastforwarded a bit in "combat" because I figured the second bout of acid damage would not matter that much, so,
--Samen and Wamblee still have a round of actions left before the second acid effect takes place
--Although I'm almost positive no one has any healing items left
--So here's a quick houserule to make things interesting:
**Ongoing acid damage can be neutralized by taking a standard action to apply the Heal skill. DC = any save DC that might be associated with the acid effect.**
--There wasn't any save for the original acid effect, but the attack itself was at +4 so I'm going to say it is Heal DC 14 to save Samoon
--Marianne made DC 10, so Wamblee she is giving you a +2 aid another
--Samen you can try something as well, but you will not have the +2 from Marianne.

Samoon Firenze |

Btw, did you factor in his AC being 21 with those attacks? He had Shield up due to impending doom. I would have used Invisibility, but Samoon wanted to attack something and not be a coward! Hence the Shield, complaining, and attempt to staff ex machina :D
Regrettably I wouldn't be able to keep my HP current in my header during combat, as things happen quickly. :(

Hubristic Efreeti |

It was 14 versus your touch AC. I wasn't 100% which was touch and which was flat footed, but touch being low (14) was what made sense to me (let me know if that was wrong).
I think I'll get in the habit of always putting PC's current HP total after an attack, which will make things a little easier to track. I've been doing it here and there, but it will be better to just always do it and make it consistent.

Samen lives!
It'll be tomorrow evening at least before I get to level.

Oh yeah, you too, I guess. Being the youngest, everyone's just naturally more concerned for my well-being.

Hubristic Efreeti |

Thanks for the level up info!
I was going to post this in gameplay, but it turned into a long explanation and a vote, so I figured it was better in Discussion.
The only place Wamblee would know for sure how to get to would be a nearby Branch monastery, found on a high plateau that rises above the treeline. It is more or less on your way - it is east of here. Anything else, like exactly how to get to Cedar Smoke or Light through these trails and paths, would require a guide, a map, asking directions, or a fair amount of luck and error.
So right now your choices boil down to:
--Branch, to ask for directions
--Don't stop at all. Keep going toward a different location by heading east

Wamblee Firenze |

I vote for Branch, and plan to post soon in gameplay. Paizo accessibility went to the Dark for me yesterday, hence only a discussion post and no tagline change. Working on that now.

Samen Vloe Firenze |

As much fun as wandering aimlessly through the wilderness sounds, asking for directions makes sense.

Samoon Firenze |

My post aside, I think that if I get a night's rest, I'm still at -4 HP unless Marianne did long term care, am I right? I've never studied the healing rules that carefully! :D

Samoon Firenze |

Samoon upgrades:
Feat: Rapid Shot
Extracts: Cure Moderate Wounds (duhhh!)
Blurred Movement
Skills:
+1 Craft Alchemy
+1 Craft Glassblowing
+1 Fly
+1 Kn Arcana
+1 Kn Nature
+1 Perception
uh, I forget what else I improved :P

Hubristic Efreeti |

Thanks for the level up!
Technically my rule is "if you get your full restful sleep, you are at full HP", but I reserve the right to change this under circumstances like starvation, exposure, dehydration, disease, etc etc.
None of those really apply here, but I'll still leave it up to you - Marianne can provide long term care with aid from Wamblee, so you could choose:
--Samoon has almost died twice in the last two days (Abby almost killed you outright, and this time you were at -9), so you need more time to recover fully. Start the day at 1 HP.
--In the midst of discovering your 'cure moderate wounds' extract you made a batch of almost worthless cures, but taken altogether they were enough to heal you over a few hours' work (you don't actually have a cantrip of curing or anything, but just flavor to get you back into the game)
If you find it more dramatic/interesting to continue to be hurt, by all means do so, but no big deal if you choose to be at full like the rest.

Wamblee Firenze |

I neglected to have Wamblee fully recover his HP, corrected now.

Hubristic Efreeti |

So between 1) the party's overall survival skills and 2) the fact you are in a part of Forest not very heavily traveled (everyone takes the rivers to travel)
I'm just going to say no encounters for the four days of travel. I'm also going to say because Samoon is still feeling half-dead, there won't be any forced marches, etc.
So over the next say two days real time, I'll just post new updates here and there to reflect another day of travel gone by. Feel free to RP amongst yourselves as much as you'd like. I'll update at the Branch monastery on either Monday or Tuesday night.
Samoon - if you want to keep with the "Samoon is having a tough time" idea, we could say you are only gaining a max of 5 HP per day. You will be at 21 the day you arrive at the next monastery.

Samoon Firenze |

I haven't had time to post; lemme work on it with some extracts. :) And thanks, yes, I was going to say we'd need to avoid conflicts for a few days, RP some hiding and roll some stealth and the like.

Damn, but Wamblee has been doing well on Sense Motive lately!

Hubristic Efreeti |

Just for convenience sake:
Wamblee and Samoon can both sense that their relics hold no ill will. You can both talk to them freely (with spoilers) for the time being - let's say we'll RP until Thursday night or so instead, since many of you are expressing interest in talking to your relics.
Samen, let me know what your plans are during this time.

Wamblee Firenze |

It msy be tomorrow evening before I get to post again.

Samen Vloe Firenze |

It lasts for five minutes, so I would think so.

Wamblee Firenze |

Apologies, a busy week and I was pretty exhausted yesterday.
Wamblee is finally cracking out ki points, which combined with his already magical fists, should cause some impacts!
If concealment from blindness is an issue, then he has missed one attack anyway.

Wamblee Firenze |

Blind-fight is a possible acquisition for the future. Though some good rolls in my last post.

Wamblee Firenze |

Yes, good point!
Edit: Level 12 Ki ability. But I still get it.

Hubristic Efreeti |

Is this a busy weekend for anyone? I will be around to post, but we can let the scene sit if 2 or more of you are going to be out of touch for the next few days.
Any word from your friend Samoon? It's ok if the answer is 'no', it's just good to know for sure. It's also ok if the answer is 'I haven't decided yet'. If she has any questions, I'm happy to get the process started (which is sometimes the toughest part) by starting a dialogue here. Either way!

Wamblee Firenze |

I should be able to post, but there might be big gaps.

Samen Vloe Firenze |

This is a somewhat busy weekend for me. We're babysitting for my brother and we have a family thing on Monday, but I should be able to sneak in a post here or there as necessary.

At the other table, I have had questions about some of the minor tribes that are roughly located in the North Tribe's territory. I think Wamblee would have gotten news of these tribes from time to time (news traveled upriver as well), and known the same basics:
--Ambrosia: extremely spiritual, given to ingesting herbs, mushrooms, etc as part of ceremonies to connect with Forest and elementals. More tolerant than the East concerning agnostics.
--Night Shade: near the northern tip of forest, hard warriors that fight the Dark and survive in one of the coldest places in the land. Difficult training from all warriors from a young age.
--The Weeping Willows: concerned with funeral rites, tending of grave trees, planting of Graywoods. Respected by the more religious tribes, scoffed at by more militaristic tribes.
--Kudzu: One of several splinter tribes all calling themselves Kudzu (there is one in the West and East territory as well). Masters of medicine, and strong culture towards birth and expanding the tribe's strength.
But those are all far north of your current position. You are unsure of which tribes roam this area.

Wamblee Firenze |

Hear, hear!

Wamblee Firenze |

Anything from this? The place does seem to be of significance spiritually to past Oreads, and Wamblee would naturally see if the stone remembers anything of that.
Wamblee does his best to feel the stone around and beneath him as the group walks. With one hand and both feet on stone, he extends his senses.

Hubristic Efreeti |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Apologies, I missed it among the book entries.
You are amazed by the sheer size of this place - your senses hint at open spaces within the stone that go all throughout the innards of the plateau, perhaps even into the rock beneath as well. You also get a similar feeling as when you were at Root - the rock itself is vaguely alive in a way that most stone is not; whether this occurred naturally and oreads flocked to it, or it occurred because of the presence of so many oreads over so many years, you cannot say for sure.

Wamblee Firenze |

@GM: No trouble, things get overlooked. And I suspected something like that might be the case.
@All: My free time is going to be quite limited over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I might be able to post later on over the three days, but I can't guarantee that I'll be able to.
