I must admit I do feel a slight bit outclassed by some of you folks in regards to the mechanics of character-building (that's off-hand class knowledge & such; not story development), and the original deluge of monster races also put me on my heels a bit.

That said, I'm still putting things together; likely won't be making a goblin myself (I like the feel of this character, & monster races are just too unfamiliar yet).

For a quick look: Gysella is a young, LN Sister of the Golden Erinyes. Orphan of the Isgeri Goblinblood Wars; being trained as a medic. Her life is a moral quandary, balancing her innate desire to improve others' lives with the Dark Prince's vicious indoctrination.. & maybe a certain disdain for goblinkind ;)

Final class breakdown is Unchained Monk/Alchemist (vivisectionist) (internal alchemist) (chirurgeon). Although she herself doesn't perceive things through any sort of elemental filters, she'd likely be associated with Air or Water (but that might needs a bit more thought).

I'll put the crunch and a full background up sometime tonight. Also, any suggestions on monk archetypes, or other mechanical options that preserve the feel of the character are certainly welcome :)

I'm sorry if I put you off. If I get the chance to play a non standard race I jump on it. So few other games allow it.

Ok, I think I've hit some inspiration. This thing is one of the hardest builds I've done, but it might finally be coming together! :)

Liberty's Edge

Hey Devon,

I was curious, I haven't read through the entire thread, did a quick search but didn't see anything, what do you think of Path of War?

Was considering building an Unchained Rogue/Stalker to apply with.

No worries, Sir Gavin will stay as is, and he can't even detect if you guys are little evil, crazy fire enthralled creatures :)

@GM do we PM you our vote? I haven't chosen yet waiting for the deadline and completed submissions. When do you want to have it by?

wow, i'm surprised there's not more fire...

if anyone's trying to think of potential earth builds:
- a Shaman [speaker of the past] with the stone spirit would have a nice elemental tie-in and doesn't use a familiar so you don't need to fear being without when you start.
- a Witch [ley line guardian] also doesn't use a familiar; ley lines are a little more outside of the box, but are definitely earth-related, and you could strength that with the mountains patron (though strength or wisdom both feel like a good fit too).
- a Druid [menhir savant] has the same earth connection through their use of ley lines and could enhance that further (and avoid having to scrounge material to summon a new companion) by choosing the earth domain instead of an animal companion.

all of those would pair very well with a ranger (which already has kind of an earthy feel IMO), and the divine tracker archetype would allow you to augment that with the earth blessing (and whichever other one seems appropriate to you).

Hmmm, still playing around with things, but I think that the only way to offset this horde of goblins is to find a way to get under them.

Considering a ratfolk rogue(unchained)/witch or arcanist
--> archetypes are still being reviewed

That's right! All of you should be beneath me!*

Lantern Lodge

Dot it up.

Trying to figure out how I want to make a character for this, but it should be rather interesting.

Trying to figure out the P6/E6 stuff. I find the P6CodexAlpha, but it seems to only go to Rangers. Is there a full writeup somewhere? Especially for the newer classes that everyone here seems to be taking.

We will need to hash out stuff after 6, but for the most part just build a level 2 gestalt. The e6 part will be a bit collaborative because its not set in stone as a system.

Well if you are still taking applications, because I have a great idea for a duel-wielding Swashbuckler/Cleric that centers around his ability to heal quickly. Oh yeah. Of course the duel-wielding part is hoping that I can get my hands on anything. I can get a build up soon, hopefully by tonight.

I've made a move to diversify the field a bit and I've changed into a Vanilla Kineteist/ Unchained Rogue. This are looking much clearer and less MAD now with a more defined focus as a ranged ambusher with Skills.

Sheet still isn't complete, and my story needs a re-work. However, progress has been made! It's more of a step to the side, but still! Don't diss my progress! :P

You are good. Dots are through Sunday. Apps aren't even due until next Tuesday so folks have time to navigate the various issues.

On a broader note today has been rough at works and I podcast tonight so if I am slow to answer some of the pending questions and comments I will get to it either later tonight or first thing in the AM.

Oh? What do you podcast?

Comics, graphic novels type stuff. Funny enough I'm missing tonight's show now as some things at work and home boiled my brain, heh.

Yeah I honestly expected there to be way more people going for fire, and that I would be in the minority with water. NOPE.

I'm biased against Rogues in general, but even with that I'm a bit surprised you didn't go Slayer (with the corresponding Sniper archetype). Although, actually I guess the Unchained rogue gets two free early-level Feats over what the rogue used to get. That's pretty cool.

I like the backstory a lot - it's interesting that both of ours involve finding these ancient books. It would be pretty cool to see it come up if we both got in - if they came from somewhere and if we intentionally found them, etc.

** spoiler omitted **

Oddly I don't think I've heard of it, and I swore I emailed every comics site in existence when I was trying to get some attention on the one I co-wrote last autumn.

Me alchemist, all about the fire, not. Sadly, this alchemist will not be a mad bomber, but instead a man obsessed with the line between life and death, and what the differences are between alive and undead.

There's already a hunter/kineticist submitted. Slayer would step on his toes a bit, I feel.

Yeah when we get to the voting phase I will present some clearer instructions. I don't really want folks voting until all subs are in.

YAh. Dots are good through the weekend, you have plenty of time to submit.

Although I am wondering if I should narrow the window down a bit, have apps due on Sunday instead of Tues. Traction in the thread has died down a bit. Thoughts anyone?

Scarab Sages

Fine by me.

not by me, I'm a bit busy this week to actually sit down and make the character. Next week opens up.

It's simply a matter of priorities. If you let yourself get bogged down with minor things like work and family and sleep then you'll never have time for gaming. :)

Scarab Sages

Oh, completed apps? Maybe. If you want to close open recruitment though I won't say nay.

The Exchange

Enh based on all that I will just leave the timelines as they are so folks aren't feeling rushed. A few more dots may drift in though I am surprised at the number of folks who have doted and not returned but *shrug* that happens.

The Exchange

HHeeyyy now something I forgot about...

For now the gestalts need to be 2 classes but that restriction can change through in game actions. So it *might* be possible to split your classes/levels up more. IT doesn't change anything about subs but it might be helpful info for folks contemplating builds moving forward...

Uh, what do you mean? Because right now I'm doing an alchemist/alchemist build? Say moving forward I could double my up my level on either side of the gestalt? say, if I were a wizard2 barbarian2, to start, upon my next level I could become wizard 4 intead? Or do you mean addint in other classes?

The Exchange

More like you could go from alchemist 2/Alchemist 2 to Alchemist 3/ Wizard 1 - Alchemist 2.

Retraining is possible so you could go from Barb to Wiz but I was more expanding the complexity of added levels. That make sense?

so basically more multiclassing, later on, maybe. So we're stuck in our original gestalt classes initially?

Very tempted. Thinking of possibly an Amnesiac Psychic--seems to fit the castaway flavor. Let me mull on it!

Ok. Should be done. I'll do a couple checks tomorrow, but nothing major should change.

I DON"T KNOW!!!

Well, it makes for a very easy background. ;p

This is one_one_six with my crunched character, I'll get a backstory up as soon as possible. I'm pretty pumped about this character.

Well, I spoke up about this when it seemed to hamper my chances (i.e. when there were more fire's than air's) so I feel allowed to speak up now it might improve them: Markan was supposed to be Fire/Water.

I'm still earth/air. :)

@11-Six_Click - note that you need to pick two elements to associate you character with.

Is that everyone so far?

Edit: Fixed Shattertooth

I am now a kinetecist/ unchained rogue

Yep, I'm planning on getting my elements figured when I get a backstory together. Which should be pretty soon.

Pretty sure I am going ratfolk rogue(unchained)/alchemist, although still playing with ways to have a full caster (arcanist/witch/wizard) instead. Unfortunately, alchemist just works so well with the backstory I have in my head. Elements are most likely earth (thats where ratfolk tend to live) and fire (everyone likes to burn things with alchemy).

I'm out. The idea is great, I love it. But even without the extra math that throws my brain for a loop Gestalt is just too annoying to me. I used to be pretty excited about it until I built my first gestalt charaacter, now it leaves a bad taste in my brain. Have fun guys and good luck! Korak out!

Dotting for interest

The Exchange

I'll leave the thread open until 9:00pm -8 GMT tonight for dots. Final subs will be due 9:00 PM -8 GMT Wednesday Sept 2nd. Votes via pm will be cast for two days until 9:00 PM -8 GMT September 4th with an intended start of the weekend of Saturday Sept 5th.

As we approach final submissions I will talk a bit more about a couple other pieces if info I want as part of your vote (narrative element questions).

I also want to announce that I am clearly consistent creature and can't help myself, the part size has been increased to 5, I will be recruiting 4 players. The 5th player is not taking one of the four elemental slots.

PirateDevon wrote:

More like the Fifth Player is The Avatar and gets all of the elements.
