Akio breathes in deeply, savoring the fresh air. Now that that's taken care of... He slowly moves his right hand to his left foot and scratches, taking time to enjoy the small indulgence.

With that done, he sits up slowly and quietly, trying to get a sense of his surroundings without alerting anyone else to his presence.

Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Your eyes have difficult time adjusting form the pitch black to the dim light, your legs are bit stiff form the non-movement, but you do here a couple voices...a female and male echoing in the chamber above.

Hajime, I am Takeo. I know not were we are. I remeber fighting in the shade of arrows over head before waking here. I feel somthing happened to the shogun. Thouhg not with any certainty. Do you remember anything?

Takeo loosens up a bit not acting so defensive.

Takeo, Masumi, and Hajime you hear the familiar sound of stone scrapping stone, then another hand emerges followed by a head from across the room. It looks like four of the 24 stone tombs were filled with the living, someone's sick joke perhaps. Are there are others?

With the light coming from Hajime's robe, it is obvious that everyone is dressed in the same fashion - white kimonos with red trim on the sleeves and collar. The room is, in fact, square with 24 lids on the ground in neat orderly rows. Each with a random number on the lid.

No doors are visible. However there is a single torch in the center of each dark colored wall, but they are unlit. Small pieces of flint and steel hang on leather straps from the bottom of each torch sconce. This thirty-foot square room has a fifteen-foot high ceiling and is unlit except for the light coming form Hajime.

"I don't recall anything about how we ...."

Hajime trails off as she hears the sound of stone scrapping again and turns to see someone else climbing out of yet another stone coffin.

Pointing towards the person emerging: "Look, there is someone else. Perhaps there are yet more people in the other coffins as well who don't have the strength to move the heavy lids."

Hajime will move over towards the person emerging. "Excuse me, do you need any help getting out?"

Not like a captor to offer assistance. Still...

"I need nothing from you, whoever you are." With that, he straightens up, his powerful muscles unknotting themselves. He settles into a defensive posture.

"What am I doing here, and who are you?", he demands.

Hajime takes a step away from the man, taken aback by his response and wary of any attack.

"My name is Hajime and that is the only question of yours that I am capable of answering. If you are not in any need of assistance, I am going to go light one of those torches and then check the other coffins in case someone else does need some help."

She will take another step backward before she turns around and makes her way over to the nearest torch and lights it.

Calm yourself friend. We have all found ourselves awakening here today, but none have the memory how ans why. I do not believe us to be enemies, but you are right to be cautious. I am Takeo, and you are?

The tall man speaks. If we each stand 10 feet from the center of each wall and are quiet... We'll hear of there is anyone else. If there is no sign of life, we should busy ourselves with escape. This does not seem a place anyone would go willingly.

Kichiro groans and rolls over on his side. He didn't remember falling asleep, he didn't remember what he was doing before he fell asleep, but he was awake now and it couldn't compare to being asleep.

Now he was awake- and something was crawling all over him. He begins scratching at the sensation with stiff, achy fingers.

You wake up in a 2.5 wide by 7 ft long by 2.5 high smooth polished stone box, it is completely dark inside. Your skin tingles as your senses begin to come alive. The sound of your heartbeat seems to be echoing in your chest, while your breath makes the air stale.Lets keep thing under a spoiler until you get out and untied with the others.

As Hajime lights one of the torches, it becomes more clear that the walls and ceiling are deep crimson in color. With the added light, you can make out black symbols are painted on that wall, it is the symbol for “Botai” (womb).

What are the others doing?

Takeo will start opening other tombs, looking for more survivors.

Masumi lights the torch opposite Hajime. Looking for a way out. If you don't hear them, they are dead. Only the strong survive.

Hajime moves over to another torch and lights it as well, trying to both listen for any movement coming from the stone coffins and looking for any doors out.

Masumi when you light the torch the crimson aspect of the walls deepens. There are black symbols for the word “Haka” (tomb) written on the wall. You can, also, see there are symbols in the center of crimson ceiling, but it's hard to make it out from your angle. The crimson room really soaks up the light.

Both Masumi's and Hajime's keen eye sight and deft fingers reveal hidden panels on their respective wall.

Takeo begins to pull the lid off one of the random tombs, marked with runes for the number"1" on the lid, which reveals a lifeless body in a white kimono with red trim on the sleeves and collar.

Thinking to himself womb, and tomb. Ritual type burial. Seems like somthing may need our life force to be born or made. This all seems bay, should probably get out of here.

So you guys found possible doors. I say we try that one.

Kichiro's tongue lay heavy on the bottom of his mouth. His jaw pops as he tries to open his mouth.

"Wwwwuuuuh," he says, or tries to say. "Wuh emmm ayeeee?"

He struggles against his confines, striking at the stone walls with whatever he can- fists, shoulders, knees.

Masumi the torch does not appear to be trapped and yes, it can be removed from the sconce.

Masumi, Takeo, Akio and Hajime can all make perception check.

I have the others rolling a perception check to see if they hear your pounding. The stone does not feel as if it had moved when your banged. You do notice the seam around the edge of the lid and you are fairly confident which way is up.

Masumi takes the torch, hoping his eye was keen enough. Then, the tall man moves to the center of the room for a better look at the ceiling marks.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Nice to know this isn't any different from any other game, the die roller still hates me.

Funny you say the die roll hates you, I have dwarf in one game that swears his short bow is curse. He is currently asking the party priest to say a blessing. The die roller hate me there

Looking up you can observe that the symbol of the Shogunate dominates the ceiling.

Your eyes and hearing still seem to be adjusting from your recent confinement.

Sorry for being out of touch - thought I'd have internet access on a short trip, but didn't. Back home, now, and will resume regular posting.

...friend? Is he a friend to me? He doesn't sound familiar.

Still cautious, he answers. "My name is...Akio." That's right, isn't it? Seeing the others busying themselves around the room, he stands and quickly climbs out of his tomb. Noticing the symbols on the wall, he chuckles.

"It seems odd, don't you think? That here, in this tomb, we are as babes born from a womb, with no memories of our lives before?"

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Akio your legs are stiff from the lack of movement and your senses are a bit dulled from non-use. You see three nearby stone lids each having random numbers - 8, 11, 19 - on their lids.

You can see there are three others in the room with you, one nearby (Takeo) who asked you to calm down, he is staring at a body in an open tomb, and then two others lighting torches on the opposite ends of the square room and examining the crimson walls and ceiling.

Masumi and Takeo each grab a brass handle and they lift the 300 pound lid, to reveal another living soul. The light from the room, temporarily, causing the body eyes to blink and water. (Kichiro your lid has been removed)

Standing above you like grave robbers are two men dressed in white kimonos with red trimmed sleeves and collar.

Akio stumbles a bit as he leaves his tomb. I guess I was in there a little longer than I'd thought. He sits on the edge working the kinks out of his legs and reflecting on how close to death he'd come. Who knows? The other bodies in here might just not have woken up in time. That could have been me.

He takes a few more deep breaths to center himself, then stands and investigates the room once more.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Akio there are three sources of light going on - a spell being held by the female (Hajime) who is also by a lit torch, then there is a lit torch in Masumi's hand who is assisting dragging a lid off a coffin. You can see that the room is crimson in color and there are unlit torches on two other walls.

So all five of the PCs have now been released from their tombs, along with one additional tomb being opened which holds a dead body. What is everyone doing from this point in time?

What possible reason would anyone have to put us here? Unless they thought we were dead? Perhaps we were all poisoned, and only we few survived it? I hate this, not knowing...

Looking at the others, he asks, "Have any of you found any way out of this room?"

Takeo will move to the door to his left and start feeling around the seem. Trying to figure out a way to open the door.

Anyone any good at this type of thing He looks to the group as he fumbles around the seem trying to pry it open with his fingers.

You remember climbing a wooden of a keep, a dagger clenched between your teeth.

The remaining two walls each have the symbol for “Yami” (darkness) on them, and the torches light and are removable.

While Takeo is examining the lever there is a noticeable rustling sound coming from within the room.

You will, also, note that I put three light wall torches and there is a fourth torch but it is not lit.

* If a torch is used in combat, treat it as a one-handed improvised weapon that deals bludgeoning damage equal to that of a gauntlet of its size(1d3), plus 1 point of fire damage.

A bit freaked out, Hajime unleashes a little burst of flame at the re-animated woman.

For a few posts, Masumi has had a torch in hand. Please consider him armed. He removed the torch from the wall, then used it to light the center of the room/ceiling (to read the mark) and to light the other torch.

Does your 20 on Init count for a snippet?

Masumi, if he hesitates... is not outwardly visible. Could the man have moved faster?

The warrior's arm is quick as it moves back and snaps forward, savagely throwing the lit torch at the walking dead's head. Masumi then staps back to take the unlit torch, rearming himself.

Attack, torch, improv: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 6 - 4 = 3
Damage, torch, sneak vs flat-footed enemy: 1d3 + 1 + 4d6 ⇒ (1) + 1 + (3, 5, 3, 4) = 17

5-foot step back to H7, taking torch. Hey look! Another snippet... 2 then? Hope you have enough snippets, cause I can roll 1's all day long.

Masumi is armed with the lit torch which he was using to look a the ceiling. Your hands a bit sweaty and you fumble the torch badly.

Roll a d20 and add your dex bonus to see if you dropped the torch. I use fumble rules on a nat 1, see the house-rules under the info tab.

memory snippet:
You remember the sound of rain on the roof, musicians playing and laughter of merry souls.

No you don't get snippets when the GM rolls - heck at your rate there won't be any let by the time you exit the room!
