Cassadar |
Cassadar looked at the flames with an appreciative smile on his face. Considering the numbers, and that the torches were still within the bodies of flame, he could guess what needed to be done. What he wondered was how difficult it was going to be.
"Claim the torches.. if you can", mused aloud, mostly to himself. [b]"For we must carry the light ourselves.."
In what had become ritual, he took a deep breath, settling himself for the upcoming engagement, and stepped within arm's reach of his elemental.

Gorak "The Beast" |

Gorak-kong calmly moves up to one of the elementals.
Then in a burst of movement does a stationary backwards flip and attempts to grab the torch with one of his opposable feet. (Just an unexpected move for flavor purposes, but it's just a disarm)
Disarm 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
AC is currently 17

Torgus"The Brawling Bear"Voss |

After hearing the dwarf's and half-orcs ideas on what to do here, the pit fighter remembers a fight a wizards bodyguard that wielded guanlets of flame. He used a tatic half way through that fight that would be useful here. The large man wraps his cloak around his arm and pours out his water skin on it. Then focus's on the torch inside and readies his hand to grab the item. He grunts to the creature, "The Arcane Guard FlameFist was no match for me and neither will you!"

Cassadar |
Wary of the elementals, Cassadar knew that reaching for the torch was going to potentially allow him to get hit by the elemental, which was not particularly preferable. Those flames may have been warmer than the average flame. He knew nothing about elementals. Still, it had to be done..
With a fast motion that was somewhat difficult to track, Cassadar snatched at the torch, wary of the elemental's response.
Disarm:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Frakdar Stonefist |

This is going to hurt.
Frakdar carefully watches the elemental and its torch. Finally, unsure of an alternative, he simply reaches in and attempts to take the torch.
Disarm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Hmm, I have gotten a few of these rolls recently, kinda nice after a string of <5s.

Javi the Wasp |

Javi watches the others. Having already taken some punishment in the rooms below, he looks to see if the tactic is worth the potential danger.
If any of the others show the desired outcome by their disarm attempts, then javi follows suit.
Disarm 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

My internet was down at home last night - so no map unfortunately. You've each got a single fire-torch guy about 25ft in front of you.
Frakdar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Gorak: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Javi: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Torgus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Firey Torches: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Initiative Tracker (Round 1): Firey Torches, Cassadar, Javi, Frakdar, Torgus, Gorak
Cassadar dances forward to the elemental being opposite him and thrusts his hand forward into the flames, but is unable to grip the torch. His hand is removed singed by the experience.
Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
A reconfirmation from the others if possible on their chosen course of action. Rolls can be kept, just wanted to give you an option of changing after seeing Cassadar's success / lack thereof.

Javi the Wasp |

javi will stick to his plan... seeing if any of the others have success stealing the torches, and what happens when/if they do. If stealing the torch seems to be the answer, then he'll go ahead and step up and use the pre-rolled Disarm to try to grab his own torch.
So, basically, delay until after the others, then act as above.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Frakdar walks beliggerently up to his opponent and calmly plucks the heart from the elemental. It screams a silent death as it dissipates before him.
1d6 ⇒ 1 fire damage for Frakdar
Torgus' charge tackle is more spectacular to watch, but sadly far less effective. The Brawling Bear's chest hair catches fire...
1d6 ⇒ 4 fire damage for Torgus
Gorak is similarly unlucky in his attempt to purloin the creature's heart, ending up with a scorched foot.
1d6 ⇒ 2 fire damage for Gorak
After pausing to watch the others, Javi attempts his own retrieval operation and although the elemental twists away it is not quick enough to prevent his lunge from meeting with success. The creature
1d6 ⇒ 6 fire damage for Javi
Seeming to take note of what happened to their kin, the remaining firey elementals wrap their burning arms around their wooden heart - shielding it from your predation. Effectively taken total defence
Initiative Tracker (Round 2): Firey Torches, Cassadar, Frakdar, Torgus, Gorak, Javi
As Nisk hasn't checked in, I'll ignore his opponent. So two torches down and three to go. Frakdar and Javi can move to assist, try to replace their torches, or another action as they wish.

Javi the Wasp |

Javi gasps as the flame scorches his hand and arm -- only the skin under his cestus remaining untouched. He cradles the torch and his burned arm as he slides back, a grimace on his face, "Not sure I'm able to take much more of that heat, guys."
Regardless of his words, he moves to team up with Ape-Gorak against his flame, using his usual dancing, jittery style to hopefully throw the thing off-balance for Gorak's attempt.
AA attempt to help Gorak's next attack roll 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

All of the attempts at the torches meet with failure, and forsaking their defensive attempts - the three remaining elementals move towards the centre of the room.
1d6 fire negated by DC 14 Reflex is still valid
Elementals provoke AoO (that can be used for a disarm) as they move towards the middle.

Javi the Wasp |

As they retreat, Javi makes a snatch at the flame formerly in front of Ape-Gorak.
AoO - Disarm 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Reflex DC 14 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
-- or 1d6 ⇒ 1 fire damage.
The heat forces him to retreat before any serious burn can occur; unfortunately no disarm occurs, either.

Frakdar Stonefist |

Come on fire boys.
Frakdar again attempts to grab another torch.
AoO-Disarm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
As I have Combat Reflexes, second AoO if applicable.
AoO-Disarm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
My actual attack for this round is posted above.
Those are some pretty bad, and probably painful, rolls.
@ DM VoV - I am +1 on saves vs. Fire from my Desert Child trait, would that apply here? Would not make any difference with these rolls, but just for future reference.

Cassadar |
Reflex(14): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
AoO(Disarm): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Reflex(14): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Not having much luck when it came to grabbing the shifting torches, Cassadar nevertheless managed to not get as burned as he did the first time. As the elementals moved towards the center, he took a step back, wary of the flames becoming bigger.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

+1 on saves vs Fire would apply in this instance - and only one AoO in this instance.
Torgus manages to grab a third torch, making it's previous owner sputter out as the two remaining fire elementals evade your attempts to reach the room's center. The two fire elementals embrace, making it seemingly impossible to reach the remaining two torches without suffering serious burns. However you also see the fire begin to dissipate and a greater solidity come over the elementals... as though an outer skin were hardening.
Initiative Tracker (Round 3): Firey Torches, Cassadar, Frakdar, Torgus, Gorak, Javi
You've an opportunity to position, reflect, inspect or even attack for a round before whatever is happening will happen.
But the disarm trick is out of reach for now.

Gorak "The Beast" |

Curious as to how it will effect the creature Gorak moves int range and casts a spell. A deluge of 8 gallons of water appears over the creature. Then gravity takes effect and the water pours down upon it.
Create Water
School: conjuration (creation) [water]
Level: cleric 0, druid 0, paladin 1, inquisitor 0
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Components: V, S
Range: close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Effect: up to 2 gallons of water/level
Duration: instantaneous
Saving Throw: none
Spell Resistance: no
This spell generates wholesome, drinkable water, just like clean rain water. Water can be created in an area as small as will actually contain the liquid, or in an area three times as large--possibly creating a downpour or filling many small receptacles. This water disappears after 1 day if not consumed.
Note: Conjuration spells can't create substances or objects within a creature. Water weighs about 8 pounds per gallon. One cubic foot of water contains roughly 8 gallons and weighs about 60 pounds.

Frakdar Stonefist |

Frakdar looks over at Gorak and gives him a big grin: If they had given us the rulebook, I am pretty sure that would be cheating. Fortunately they didn't give us the rulebook. Can you do that again.
I shall delay to see whether Gorak can do his water trick any more. It is much better than getting burned.
Action: Full Defense - not that I expect it to attack, but better to be prepared.

Javi the Wasp |

"BRILLIANT!"
Javi follows suit, moving to stand next to the flame while readying a fake attack to distract it on Gorak's next water-attack.
Move next to the flame.
Standard: Ready an AA attack to assist Gorak's next ranged attack roll; doing so defensively.
Cestus AA DC10 1d20 + 9 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 1 = 28; Combat expertise. Gonna call that a success. :)

Gorak "The Beast" |

Gorak-ape grins widely and will continue until it's dead. Otherwise dodging its attacks.
"water bender attack " 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 132d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6
And again
"water bender attack " 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 72d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7
And again
"water bender attack " 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 82d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7
And again
"water bender attack " 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 232d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5
And again

Frakdar Stonefist |

Frakdar goes and picks up the torches after looking at them to see if there is anything unusual about them, he turns to the others. So what now? Put the torches back in their holders? Or does someone else have a better idea?
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 <-- examining the torches
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 <-- examining the room again
