Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36
The prof analyses the scenes and states that these corpses are girallons, magical beasts that are four-armed gorilla-like creatures. Why they're headless, he doesn't quite know...
Prof Augustus Tournesol |
Nobody hit Caesar...
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Go ahead and heal up everyone, Sonny. You will have had time before you entered this room. Zanu, I suggest you read all the posts before you post; the leeches are dead and you're in a new room.
From above, there comes an echoing sound of leathery wings, like large bats stretching.
Risbeth Von'Hogmede |
Risbeth posts another post to not be read, to prove she's still lurking
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Just as Risbeth speaks up to prove she's still here, there is a horrid shriek from above! Three blackened heads, detached with bat's wings where the ears should be are flapping around above you, hissing and shrieking!

Risbeth find any oil or alcohol in the lab?
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Sorry, thought that was aborted when the leeches were slain. No oil, but 1d4 ⇒ 4 flasks of clear alcohol for specimen preservation.
Prof Augustus Tournesol |
Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 Wow, no info!
Augustus shouts "Beware, these are giant vargouilles, apparently created from the girallons!"
Right after that, he starts muttering arcane words looking at Risbeth.
Casting Enlarge Person, will take effect next round.

Xerice sticks a finger in each ear, dreading what comes next.

Zanu, Neutral evil and they cannot be tamed, but exist to spread their horrid curse to others! Sonny, no special defenses, but they have a shriek attack that leaves failed saved listeners paralyzed, a posionous bite and their kiss can turn you into one of them!
The trio of demonic creatures fly down! One opens its mouth to shriek, causing you each to need a Fort Save, DC 14 or be paralyzed for 2d4 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 rounds! The other two fly down (charge!) to attack Risbeth and Caesare!

Caesare Montoya |
I really have to apologize, I was sure I had told everybody that I was moving this weekend. Had also some major internet connection issues, but finally the ordeal is over and I am more less back as always.
Shaking off the scream Caesare takes a quick a look at his opponents
KnowPlanes: 1d20 + 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (15) + (2) + 10 = 27 before choosing one, looking at his movements Studied combat and attacking it with a quick thrust of his longspear.

Combat over!
From the floor of this cylindrical room you can see exits to the north on this floor as well as exits 30 feet above you.
Prof Augustus Tournesol |
"Phew!" says the prof. "I... Thank you, friends."
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Risbeth notices that her wounds still burn from whatever poison the fiend's bite contained.
Risbeth Von'Hogmede |
"Anyone have some antidote? I got some poison in my wound apparently."
Sonny Wright |
"I don't have any antidote on me, but please let me take a look and maybe I can help with it some. If I may.." When Risbeth allows Sonny to look at it he examines it and tries to help her with the poison.
Heal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Sonny, the wound appears cursed. Damage from this bite will not heal unless the healer makes a Caster Level 20 check.
Risbeth Von'Hogmede |
I was waiting on Sonny to indicate the poison issue, and see who could make a check to heal it...
Xerice Lockhart |
"It just looks like a little bit to me." Xerice says and channels some dark energy into her finger, with which she teasingly strokes the wound, closing it completely and removing any curses from the bite.
caster lvl check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
"There you go darling, as good as new."
Risbeth Von'Hogmede |
Risbeth stretches, twisting her neck where the thing bit. "Not at all like mother's bites. Those heal on their own... usually. Now then, shall we go?" She stomps on the remains of one of the heads, shattering bone with a crunch.
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
The wounds healed and the curse lifted, you look around. There's a door at ground level to the north, which looks like it goes into another cylinder. There are doors above you, about 30' feet up, that look like they lead to a catwalk that can access the cylinders and beyond. The only issue is they're 30' up.
Prof Augustus Tournesol |
Augustus shakes his head.
"I don't have any trick to go up there, friends."
Risbeth Von'Hogmede |
Risbeth takes her rope out again. "Please be ready to catch me should I fall..."
She begins to climb the wall carefully. Will Take 10 work? 18
Risbeth Von'Hogmede |
Sorry, I thought I posted, been hammered at work. Anyone have ideas?
Prof Augustus Tournesol |
Well Augustus has nothing to help, sadly. No spell to help.
Xerice Lockhart |
urrrmmmm try talking with rats and have them make a piramid for us? :p
-Posted with Wayfinder
Risbeth Von'Hogmede |
Risbeth looks around, and then smiles. "Chh chh chh, little ones?"
She calls out in Rat, calling for any little ones that might be in ear shot, now that the heads are dead. Once done, she turns to the others. "Does anyone have some twine? Or see any? I'm sure there's some around. If we can find some, I'm sure we can find a rat who'll climb up to the rafter and drop the twine over. Once that's done, we can use the twine to pull a rope up to the doors. Beyond that, I can try punching some hand and foot holes in the wall, but would prefer not to damage your friends house if I don't have to."
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
A few moments pass, then a small grey form tentatively slips inside, wet from the water. It peers up at Risbeth with a look of trepidation.
Risbeth Von'Hogmede |
Risbeth smiles, and digs out some cheese and jerky for the rat, holding it out to him while squatting down.
"No need to fear little one, we speak the true tongue." She gives him the nibbles of cheese and meat. "I need some help. We killed the flying heads, so you and yours can reclaim this room. I need a strong climber to carry a bit of twine over the wooden beam in the ceiling, the one you use to spy on the two-legs when they don't know you are there." She wiggles her nose in amusement. "There's more cheese and meat in it for whoever can do it." She smiles. "Although it might need a bigger one, one of the long tailed big ones? I assume they made you come in first?"
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
The rat bobs his head, take the food and swims back out of the room. A few minutes pass and suddenly there are three rats: the small one and two larger black rats. They swim over to Risbeth and chirp at her.
There is a flurry of activity as twine is tied to the smallest rat and the other two rats begin to ferry him the wall, moving slowly up the slick wall, scrabbling in places to keep attached. Finally they mount the beam, the twine trailing and toss the smaller rat over the side, like some sort of rat-bungee jumper! He stops just shy of the water and looks terrified, and immensely grateful when you untie him and tie a rope instead. With care the rope and grappel are hauled up, where they stick fast. The two larger rats shimmy down the rope, looking pleased with themselves.
