"There are no masters in this world," Angrboda calmly admonishes the Necromancer. "The serpent swallows its own, stone melts with the ages, and even the weak may kill the strong as they catch them in their sleep."
Goran Baldaros
|
Well, that was interesting. Come...let me ease our wounds... Goran holds up his hands and a wave of warmth flows outwards.channel: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 5) + 1 = 10
channel: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 2) + 1 = 8save your charges...i have channels to burn..3 left after these 2

The vampire wouldn't have died without the channel damage that destroyed one of the skeletons. The other one is badly damaged and only has a few hp left, though it didn't take the hit from the vampire that I originally recorded.
Evariel
|
"And one of these survived as well," Evariel muses to himself, ignoring Angrboda. "Good, good. Badly damaged though." The skeleton stands still, awaiting orders, while the elf inspects it like a critical buyer. He fiddles with his healing wand. "I could fix you up, but we're eventually going to have to destroy you, and I'd hate to waste it. No, I think I won't. Perhaps if you're needed. Stay close to me until I tell you otherwise." He stashes his wand. "Well done, everyone."
| GM Netherpongo |
The skeleton shambles over to Evariel, its bones cracking slightly from the weight of its armor in its damaged state.
An examination of the vampire turns up some finely made gear. She was wearing masterwork lamellar steel armor & had a masterwork naginata & wakizashi.
The skeletons are/were wearing breastplates and they bear heavy steel shields along with masterwork longswords.
Where would you like to go now? Probably the party needs to heal up first? I don't think Goran's channel covered it all.

The first room you enter is a crypt, with a prominently displayed sarcophagus flanked by stone recesses to hold (presumably) the bodies of the less important deceased. All are empty save for bits of burial cloth.
As you proceed further down the crypt, you find two more rooms built in a similar fashion.
Returning back to the primary terminus chamber, you examine the sarcophagus on the south wall that bears the name of General Dame Vheist along with the holy symbol of Aroden.
[spoiler=History or Nobility 15]You recognize the name of this general. She died in 3825 AR at the decisive battle of Crumblespine Ridge while leading her troops to victory.[/dice]
As you go down the stairs, you find draconic and celestial symbols etched into the walls at seemingly random intervals. An unadorned stone table stands in the east side of the room. Shelves worked into the walls are full of old books.

"It all seems to be done in early Blah. Why are tombs always so depressing?"
Rilia, Sacred Hetaira
|
"We practice cremation so most tend to be places of natural beauty, mountains, fields of flowers and small islands and such. With the occasional midden mind you. And how is it done in your faith?"
Goran Baldaros
|
It varies, but a remembrance of the departed, prayers and service. Sometimes a cremation, but not always. Doves are a common part of the celebration, releasing them. A feast afterwards is standard. I helped with a few funerals during my studies. Some more somber, some rather joyous.

As Rilia & Goran move about & search the room, their movements kick up a surprising amount of dust.
Make Fortitude saves if your character entered the room.

"I oversaw a funeral once. He was very old and very sick at the end of a long life of bravery and adventure, so, as were his final wishes, we ritually sacrificed him to his god, and set him in his boat out onto a marsh. Being that this was a wise and beloved man, however, it was not sufficient merely to burn him; rather, we gave the boat an extra layer of peat tar, and filled it with boiling water before placing the corpse in and shoving out to the marsh to boil for a day, an hour, and a minute. At that time, we returned, fetched the resulting stew, and I ate it with his kith and kin, that the old man's prowess, mettle, and wisdom may add to our own."
Seeing trouble of the respiratory variety ahead, Angrboda blesses Eniac and Herself with vitality.

Sweet!
Taking 10 in Spellcraft for a 25 to identify each item. Feel free to read the spoilers.
"Interesting. You've found a wand of minor invisibility, it's good for just a few seconds each time. The dust in this bag is infused with illusion magic, sort of like an instant disguise."
Rilia, Sacred Hetaira

"Fascinating. It certainly looks like a dust bin...."

At this point, your party has explored each room in the dungeon. Are you done here, or are you going to give things a second look?
Rilia, Sacred Hetaira
|
Rilia is prepared to go over the place with a fine tooth comb (Take 20 on perception for, ultimately, a 28--a full minute each and every 5-foot square) for hours or even a couple of days if need be.
| GM Netherpongo |
You can roll a check to try to recall anything you might of missed if you like. Intelligence or Wisdom? It sounds like Rilia is willing to go over the place with a fine-toothed comb, though. Any thoughts from Goran or Angrboda?

"Stirgeland, perhaps? We should go check. How is everyone feeling?"
Rilia, Sacred Hetaira

Rilia heads toward Stirgeland, rapier in hand.
Though I, the player, can't remember exactly which room that was.
Rilia, Sacred Hetaira
|
"So which do you suppose came first the stirge or the egg?" Rilia muses as she waits for the others to arrive.
| GM Netherpongo |
No stirges remain in the area when the party goes to check, but they do find a Belt of Tumbling, a pair of Daredevil Boots and two Potions of Aid stuffed away in the stirge's nesting area.
That basically concludes our adventure! I don't have time to get the chronicles out today, but I'll work on that tomorrow or over the weekend.
Rilia, Sacred Hetaira
|
"Does anyone feel like going for a tumble?" Rilia asks holding up the used belt she found.
Eniac, Slug Savant

Eniac follows the others, its slime trail like the party's victory signature as they leave the dungeon; it foams at the mention of ale and spirits....
