The water is far colder than Angrboda expected to be swimming in, but she manages to descend on her second effort and she takes hold of the metal object down below. When she surfaces, she finds that she is holding what appears to be a small symbol that depicts a katana set against a sunburst. The object is finely made of silver but is pitted, scarred & bent as though someone had set about purposely trying to destroy it.

This is a holy symbol of Shizuru, goddess of honor, the sun & swordplay from the Tian continent.

OK, we're going to do the rewind I mentioned above now. This takes us to after the Local/History check Terevalis had you make on December 27th. There's an additional check after that to try to discern the location of the dungeon based off the poem that I don't see him having you make. The result of the check could have an impact on the game, so I'll need that now. Relevant skills are Knowledge (Geography), Survival or another skill that would be relevant to interpreting the poetry.

Additionally, Terevalis gave out the wrong treasure at this point. I debated for a while just letting his earlier grant stand, but the difference is too much. You will get something, but for the moment you have lost the Gem of All Elements, Belt of Tumbling, Daredevil Boots, 2 potions of Aid, Dust of Illusion & Wand of Vanish.

Venture-Captain Shevar Besnik retrieves a map of Lastwall from the clutter in his office and lays it out before you. "The poem is intriguing, but where could this Mordesha be referring to?"

Linguistics (if allowed): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

Warhammer Game Notes & Maps

If you guys are trying a skill and want to roll a possibly-allowed alternate, go ahead and roll the non-alternate skills as well in the interest of shortening up post-resolution cycles (Survival here). In this case it doesn't really matter either way since Rilia beat the Geography DC.

Though several old documents reference a town named Mordesha, it appears on no official maps. There is a fire-blackened field 46 miles north of Vellumis with tall cairns called Yua’s Fingers. Locals believe it is an old druid site, fouled by evil magic. Other rumors report the area to be haunted. The roads in the area curve a mile around it, requiring a forest hike to reach the location.

"An intriguing find. Could that be where Mordesha once resided? If so, why has it been forgotten so thoroughly?" Venture-Captain Besnik wonders aloud. A grin spreads across his face as he turns to you, "Mysteries like this don't answer themselves. Come, I have some provisions to help you on your journey."

The party gains:
Traveler's Any-Tool
Wand of Cure Moderate Wounds (6 charges)
Wand of Protection from Evil (7 charges)
Oil of Bless Weapon
2 +1 Flaming Ammunition

That concludes the rewind unless someone has questions for or otherwise wants to roleplay with the Venture-Captain some. If there aren't any other plans made first, I'll assume that the party continues moving west in the dungeon (the rest of the water-choked stairway is Not Appearing In This Scenario)

Earlier outside the dungeon. "See? I told you it was in Lastwall."

Later, inside said dungeon.

"Take a look at this ammunition." Rilia says, holding the objects up seemingly through magic.

Warhammer Game Notes & Maps

The scenario actually says that the ammunition is arrows, but then it qualifies it as "or any type of ammunition the players want it to be". That was a change somewhere around year 7: they started giving out ammunition instead of arrows or crossbow bolts or bullets so that a gun user, for instance, wouldn't be unnecessarily deprived of chronicle benefits when few enemies use guns.

Moving along...the party goes west.

You come to a passageway filled with alcoves, one to the west but most to the east as the passageway opens up toward the south. The alcoves are bear niches in the wall that are filled with stone boxes, some of which have been opened. Fragments of bone lay strewn throughout the room.

Let's move all the character minis up. Do we have an established marching order that we can use for times like these?

We're rolling initiative. The way I've seen to roll initiative in play-by-post games is to average the initiative of the players and the monsters and everyone on the same side goes all at once) in the order of who posts first in the case of the players). It's less technically correct but doing initiative with monsters and players mixed would be crazy slow in this format. Are you guys fine with that method or would you prefer something else?

Stirges also expose their victims to diseases such as filth fever & blinding sickness among others.

You need a Perception result of 22 in order to act in the surprise round. The stirges went first and moved to the targets they will attack. Since we're in a dungeon setting, my assumption is that party members will have a weapon drawn unless they say otherwise,

That's fine. That's how I usually see it done, and normally there aren't too many breaks in the initiative order between PCs and NPCs (as most times the NPCs go in one or two gobs of critters at once).

Evariel can use Burning Hands but it will affect entire squares, so probably they'll want to 5' step out of their own square before burning it. Angrboda's attack misses the stirge that is sucking her blood, perhaps distracted by its proximity. Eniac's attack strikes the creature, however, and a sizzle of corroding flesh fills the air amid the din of battle. This assumes that Eniac had the defend trick active on Angrboda before combat started. These critters are magical beasts, which would give Eniac trouble otherwise. (I should have mentioned their type earlier)

Goran's attack similarly misses the stirge that is drinking his blood.

Rilia strikes down the stirge that fled from her earlier and (barely) manages to complete her Unnatural Lust spell. It seems to slow in its attempts to drink her blood. Before it has a chance to act, however, Evariel's Gust of Wind tears the stirge from its position. All three stirges within the spell's area of effect fail to maintain their position and are slammed against the wall to the southwest. Goran & Rilia have their hair & clothes blown about wildly but are otherwise unharmed by the spell (-4 Perception & ranged attacks though).

The stirges that were blown away by Evariel's spell flee from the battle, continuing down the hallway & quickly going out of sight. If one of them is amorously chasing the other, it's hard to tell. The stirge attached to Angrboda continues to maintain its grapple against Angrboda. One more point of Constitution damage to Angrboda.

GM Dice:

Will Save vs Rilia: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Fortitude Save vs Evariel (Rilia Stirge): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Fortitude Save vs Evariel (Goran Stirge - Attached): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Fortitude Save vs Evariel (Goran Stirge - Unattached): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Fly Check (Rilia Stirge): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Fly Check (Goran Stirge - Attached): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Fly Check (Goran Stirge - Unattached): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Stirge vs Angrboda CMD: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

Remaining Stirge: 4 damage taken

All the remaining stirges are bloodied (half HP or less). The only one that is not dead or fleeing from the party is the one attached to Angrboda. Keep in mind that while otherwise unharmed, Goran & Angrboda do need to make Strength checks (DC 15) if they want to move toward the source of the Gust of Wind spell. This is likely only a problem for Goran if the idea is to move up to where Angrboda is.

Angrboda's scimitar cuts cleanly through the stirge, spattering a gush of blood across the floor.

We can leave initiative unless you guys want to chase down some of those fleeing bird-bugs. Let me know what you guys would like to do.

Goran fishes out thr end of the stirge's nose with the help of his dagger. He looks around at the wounds caused by the creatures.

Ugh, I need a Pathfinder autocorrect dictionary.

"Never actually used that spell before," Evariel comments as he smoothens his robe. "I'm intact, yes."

Warhammer Game Notes & Maps

For recovery purposes, keep in mind that 1 point of Con damage doesn't actually apply any penalty at all. The only one that is suffering any reduction in HP & Fort Save & such so far is Angrboda.

As an aside, I've decided that (at least in my personal head-canon) Evariel memorizes Gust of Wind due to an unnatural hatred of chipmunks.
