As regards my health.
Turns out that my aching knee and swollen calf were being caused by a skin infection that has now fully bloomed. Which leaves me on my back, keeping it elevated and dry while taking lots of anti-biotics.
In other news did you know that taking lots of anti-biotics can cause diarrhea?

Dilana Hemlock |

Yes, anti-biotics can do that! I find the older I get the worse that little side effect. So fun.
Get better were here when you are.
Happy New Years all! I get to work until 1am as the produce on the local event.

It is a bad case of Cellulitis
The major problem is the infected area is constantly weeping. This means the dressings get soaked and make the infection worse. So I'm on a powerful diuretic as well as taking antibiotics 4 times a day as well.
It does seem to be working, slowly. I had the dressings changed today and the infected area is shrinking thankfully.
I still can't recall how I got the infection though? A small scratch on my ankle that suddenly flared up into a painful infection.
Hopefully it will keep improving and I'll be back to updating by Monday. Thanks for your patience.

GM_DBH |

Bad news no update tonight.
Good news the infection is visibly getting better and hopefully it won't be much longer before it is gone.
By visibly better I mean the surrounding area is no longer red and inflamed. Still a small, infected area that is very painful.
Very painful as the dressings were changed today and I got an old school nurse who poured saline solution over the area and scrubbed it clean. She looked a little disappointed that she didn't get any screams out of me. :)

Got to love the ones that enjoy their job a little too much.

I screamed a little just reading this. :)

That's because Paizo brought the hammer down on those scumbags from Wizards of the Coast who are out to destroy 3PP creators and pretty much anybody else using OGL that's not them.
I hope those jerks burn to the ground. Paizo is hitting back with their OWN OGL that's called ORC. :)
Check this out: LINK
And for the record, the dude in the video is a WOTC guy. Even HE'S exposing the lies and the BS that is WOTC.
The good thing is, it was insiders from WOTC that leaked out this "new" OGL they were going to put out there. So at least not all of them are traitors.
They were going to release this "new" OGL on the 13th of January, but with all the backlash they received, they've put that on hold.
So we'll see what happens but I REALLY hope they burn for this. I don't like WOTC and have no dealing with them - and am totally glad for that - but a part of me wished I did have a subscription to D&D Beyond so I could cancel that crap.
Heck, type in WOTC in your Google header and look under "Top Stories". You'll see what I'm talking about.
Go people go! I'm for the people and against those pigs at Hasbro. I hope Hasbro suffers big time. Freaking communist jerks.

Javell DeLeon |

Anyway, the site crashed because of the massive influx of new folks and they had to work on it.
They offered folks 25% off the Core book. 25% royalties are what WOTC is demanding from ANYBODY who uses "their" OGL. Bullcrap. It was NEVER meant to be exclusive but they are trying to make it so.
It's all about the dollar for these scumbags and they don't care who they crush to get it. I hope it crushes THEM.

There was a scenario from the Grand March in Living Greyhawk where their military leader had been turned to stone and taken somewhere by an enemy instead of killed so that clerical magic could not raise him. Even Resurrection would not work because he was not dead. The mission was to rescue the statue. Interesting idea.

Hey everyone, I wanted to drop a note that for the next month I will be less active as I have a major work deadline to meet. I will try to maintain a good posting rate but please do not hesitate to bot Elena to keep things moving. I apologize for the inconvenience.
I'll drop her archery macro's in the profile tonight when I get back.

Go ahead and snag it, Olimpia. No worries here.
There are at least 3 Dex focused characters. Seems reasonable to roll for this as its great for all of us.
I think the linguistics roll is only to change the setting, which begs the question, can we change it to a different stat?

Javell DeLeon |

Yeah, Luthor could actually make one of those if it wasn't for that linguistics roll. (It would've taken a ton of money but he still could've done it).
I didn't even know that item existed. I would've put some more ranks in linguistics if I had known about it. But, it is what it is. Can't build for everything.

Dilana Hemlock |

Not that I want to roll on it but cant it be set to another stat with a check?

Elrys Valrassedin |

It's unclear; i think it might be intended to be resettable. Nothing states that it vcan but also nothing states that it can't, so it seems to be purely up to the GM. If it can be reset it would require a character with the technologist feat making the dc 20 linguistics. As it now is it is already succesfully set to dex apparently.
I will roll regardless, highest gets it?
Luck roll, high is good: 1d100 ⇒ 31

Javell DeLeon |

When a cortex gun is found as treasure, roll 1d8 to determine which ability score it’s programmed to.
I guess the only thing is, it doesn't say anything about being reprogrammed.
But then it says this:
It can be programmed to enhance a Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma score.
Which gives you the impression it can be programmed.
Heck, I don't know. It's not very clear.
Olimpia has the best shot at changing it if it is changeable. She's got the best linguistics.

Olimpia Beta II |

Luck Roll: 1d100 ⇒ 23
The nanites are yours Elyrs, unless Jaavell intends to roll.
I would be willing to try to reset the gun, but I would hate to mess it up.

After a couple of bad days things got so severe I had to go to the GP. It seems I have something called a Atrial flutter.
Take it from me it is very unpleasant. I tried doing my weekly grocery shopping and nearly passed out, which lead to me seeing my Doctor.
So I'm flat on my back and very tired at the moment. I'll keep you updated as to how I'm doing and when it looks like I can return.

Elrys Valrassedin |

My best wishes for you in this thread as well, DBH!

An update for everyone.
After getting home I received a call from my Doctor saying that the blood tests had shown possible heart damage. Could I get to the emergency dept of Wellington hospital to get it checked?
I went in and was given the full barrage of tests. It took a couple of days. It seems it's not a heart attack as first feared thankfully, but the Atrial flutter is playing havoc with my pulse rate. A resting pulse of 120 - 300 isn't good.
The solution is giving me an electric shock to the heart to reset it. So I'm at home again on a lot of medication, Waiting for a slot to open up so I can be treated.
it seems my family has a history of this problem. My mother has it and my brother had to be treated twice as he suffered from Atrial fibrillation
The medication I'm on seems to be working thankfully. I'm a lot more relaxed and comfortable. A few more days of the medication calming things down and I should be back to posting.
Thanks for your patience.

Olimpia Beta II |

Glad you are doing better. Not sure if you have already had the shocks or that is in your future.
My perspective for the US is that many nurses are underpaid while most doctors are well compensated, if not overcompensated. I believe in supply and demand economics but in medical care there is so much government involvement here that we really do not let the market decide things. Too much lobbying and money from drug companies. Too many poorly managed entitlements. And too much subjective after the procedure billing. Medical care is one of the only things we purchase without first knowing the cost.

GM_DBH |

Turns out I was overly optimistic about adjusting to a new regime of medication. It's taken me a week to get it sorted in a way that doesn't leave me a zombie.
I've spent most of last week napping and lacking any energy to do anything.
Happily I'm feeling better and regaining my energy after working out what pills to take with each other, and when to take them. I'll start posting again tomorrow. I have a few things to catch up on.
Thanks for your patience.

Dilana Hemlock |

Keep at at. Being as healthy as you can as long as you can is pretty much the most important thing.

GM_DBH |

My Mother had a Hip replacement operation on the 2nd this month. Thursday she had a nasty problem with her medication while recovering at home.
She went into hospital and got things fixed by Saturday thankfully. She's back at home and getting used to her new hip again.

Dilana Hemlock |

Wow, that is a lot. I hope she recovers well.

Elrys Valrassedin |

Is everyone else still here? It feels a bit quiet...
