Furnok of Ferd Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Ikvvy Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

MonsterInitiative: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (7) - 5 = 2
I'm afraid I haven't figured out yet how to make tokens and place them on the map. I think I will have time to get it figured out this weekend, so this should be the only combat without them. The hold is the far left deckplan for The Golden Princess. The top of the stairs is to the north, bottom to the south.
Once you reach the stairs leading to the hold you smell a foul stench which makes you slightly sick to your stomachs. You can't hear the sounds of conflict from below their is a loud crash and then silence. Descending the stairs you see the captain slumbed against the eastern bulkhead accross from the bottom of the stairs with a dazed expression on her face. A sailor and a marine lay dead in the middle of the hold, the marine directly north of the base of the main mast and the sailor to directly to the south. As you watch what appears to be the half digested remains of a large sea creature flows over atop of the sailor engulfing her. You hear slurping sounds. The stench smell is now overpowering.
Everyone needs to make a DC 18 Fort save or be sickened for 10 rounds
The party goes first as all of you beat the monster's initiative
Marcos DeAngelis
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 fort
"Wow. They thought this might be a naturally occurring funk? That's not right, not right at all."
Marcos heads towards the captain, intent on securing her and getting her back out of the hold. He draws his shield but leaves his sword hand free as he does.
"Haven't you ever heard of allowing you more expendable people to handle the dangerous, unknown assignments, Captain? You remind me of a man I heard about in stories, always reckless and traveling with his marines and away teams."
Braden Swanson
Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Sickened!
"Blech, foul creature!"
Steeling himself from the stench, Brad is going to try and grapple the creature! Improved Grapple: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
GMGhost1776
Furnok you feel certain that you hit it solidly but you don't appear to have harmed it at all.
Arean Star-Eyed
Fort+2vs18: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
"Dear G..huh...", Arean begins to respond to the smell, but chooses instead to marshall her breath. Moving to the captain, in Marcos' shadow from the thing, Arean clenches a hand, opening it to a burst of whiteish fire, and touches the captain...
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
OK, who touched my dice? :)
Braden Swanson
"Furnok's blunt attacks seem ineffective. We need to slice it open."
GMGhost1776
attack on Furnok: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 for damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 1) + 9 = 14 confirm crit: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 for damage: 1d2d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 3) + 9 = 14
The creature slams Furnok aside, ignores Brad and flows overtop the other dead crewman. You all hear slurping sounds. The first's crewwoman's body is no longer there.
Furnok you need to make a dc 18 Fort Save or be nauseated for 1 round.
Party is up.
Edit I forgot Ikvvy hasn't acted yet.
So Ikvvy gets to act then then the creature then the party again.
Ikvvy
Busy day.
Fort: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1 ...
Knowledge Arcana/History: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Although still trying to identify the creature, Ikvvy reacts immediately, pulling an acid flask with her left hand and sending a magical bolt of acid with her right, that splashes over the creature!
Acid Splash: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 - 2 - 4 = 18! Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Confirm: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 - 2 - 4 = 2! Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Marcos DeAngelis
"How about, no, go sail this ship. Let the monster killers take care of your monster problem."
Marcos draws his sword and slashes at the creature.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 power attack; 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 damage
Marcos DeAngelis
I thought she was mobile...
"Take her! Get her and Furnok out of here!"
GMGhost1776
Ikvvy and Eldrian are you still on the stairs? Nothing that you have posted makes me think that your at the bottom, which is okay for one of you but not both, because I think a second person on the stairs would mean that the person higher up on the steps couldn't see into the hold.
Frunock now that you are up the stairs roll perception please. Anyone else at the top of the stairs needs to roll perception too.
Arean Star-Eyed
"Sorry, did not prepare Fireball today..."
Ikvvy delays
Clenching her cracking fists, Arean pleads in notes of pain, "Give me space...", before fanning her smoldering fingers toward the unknown thing. An arc of fire streams forth, while Arean sobs.
Burning Hands, trying to miss everyone but the thing.
d4: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Arean Star-Eyed
"It's not enough!", Arean sobs. "What will destroy it?!", she pleads, her eyes beginning to fill with swirling starshine...
KN:?what applies? here's the d20: 1d20 ⇒ 8
KN: and if that fails, trance: 1d20 ⇒ 8
and if Trance, d6 rounds: 1d6 ⇒ 6
OK, so Arean is lost in the Intersect-ing halls and mirrors of her mind, unless 8+whatever gives her something to share with the group
GMGhost1776
Arean Star-Eyed
Arean seems to wander, moving toward where she might have remembered the stairs, her eyes and head and hands seeming to find and turn pages, or catch at books, or trace glyphs upon walls. At last, she says hollowly,
"Again, again, the arrows fell,
the creature's heart they sought.
The hammers, spears, and stones-call spell,
all struck, but all for nought.
But Braun's great axe, stuck deep and true
and cleft the mass in twain
Again, again, the broad head fell
till twitching scraps remain."
Braden Swanson
"You heard the lady - everyone get an axe. Or a sword, or something that slashes. We need to cut this thing down!" As he says this, Brad tries to flank the creature with Marcos, and restrain it again to aid his ally's sword.
Improved Grapple, flanking?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
But he's not sure how to grapple this foul creature.
Ikvvy
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
I'm on the stairs, I believe, but if there's not enough space she will go up.
Funny thing is, the only weapon I have is both Piercing and Bludgeoning type...
Ikvvy will grab the key ring on the captain's belt and proceed back to open the locket.
Eldrian
Eldrian will, with the news from Arean, draw his mighty blade while moving towards the 'thing' and slashing at it's body, leaving a deep wound.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Damage: 2d10 + 6 ⇒ (5, 10) + 6 = 21
GMGhost1776
slam on Eldrian: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 for damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (6, 4) + 9 = 19
grab on Eldrian: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29constrict damgage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Eldrian definately gets the creatures attention. It slams him visciously and tries to swallow Eldrian whole but for some reason can't fit Eldrian down it's "throat" so it spits him back out where he lands at the base of the stairs.
Eldrian Fort Save DC 18 or be nausated for 1 round.
The creature now starts to sway and twist back and forth while pulsing in and out. In a human you might think it was about to throw up.
constrict attack only half damage because creature is full and couldn't swallow Eldrian.
Next Round
Ikvvy you are now at the top of the stairs
Eldrian
so 21 damage. ouch!
Fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Eryan grunts as the creature slams him and throws him back towards the stairs. "That thing is strong. Any more ideas?"
Marcos DeAngelis
Marcos moves to chop at the creature again.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 power attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 damage
GMGhost1776
Marcos you rolled a d20 instead of a d8 but since you only rolled a 5 it's fine with me
Ikvvy opens the weapons locker, and is done for the round, She and Furnok see a number of weapons in sets of 5, Specifically 5 each of javelins, scimitars, spears, hand axes, throwing axes, morning stars, clubs, and chakrams .
Marcos DeAngelis
"We're trying here! This thing hits like a ton of bricks!"
