I got the splash damage, thanks. Just got lazy and didn't find a way to describe it.

You're up again. Valgrim's sling strikes true and the wolf looks a bit worse for wear. Bubba's song fills you with newfound strength.

As the Wolves close and attack Chisora, she takes the chance to swing in with her Hanbo at the Wolf she nicked with her Whip. The Wolf however ducks under the blow and snarls at her.

Attack Wolf in L3 with Hanbo (Inspire Courage): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

Vug Vang takes the lit torch in her hand and gleefully throws it at the wolf she thinks is the most injured.

Vug sheathes her sword, picks up her hurled torch and lights it again. "Gee, that was f-fun! Come on, patch up that bite and let's go! Say Valgrim -- if you can f-follow f-f-footprints, we can track those wolves back to their lair. Maybe there's more of them!" She bounces up and down slightly in anticipation.

Chisora checks to make sure the Friar is alright and then answers Vug's question. "That's as good a suggestion as any. They may even have a few trinkets from past meals."

As you advance deeper into the dungeon the central hallway opens into a large (40 feet across) chamber with wings leading to the east and west. Across the chamber to the north yawns a twenty-foot-wide open arch draped from top to bottom in translucent cobwebs. An eerie green light flickers from beyond the webs, casting strange shadows about this room. The place smells of animal spoor and wet fur.

To the west, three short stairs lead to a wide marble dais, but the far end of the wing is obscured by darkness.

Huge slabs of cracked masonry and irregular piles of scattered debris choke the eastern wing, giving the appearance of complete collapse. The tracks on the floor indicate that the wolves made their lair there.

The sibilant, almost human whispers present in the passage become a chorus in this massive chamber, eerily echoing off the walls.

Vug Vang will look through the piles of debris in the east wing.

The passage through the rubble is cramped and irregular, and you will have to get down on your hands and knees to negotiate it. The far side is rank with the smell of wolf. Irregular piles of rubble litter the den,
as do hundreds of bones and bone fragments from the creatures’ past
meals. Most of these belong to animals, but a few are unmistakably human.

If you still want to go in there those who do can make Perception checks.

"Bah, I am the shortest one, so I'll take a look." Valgrim bends down and has a look in the pile of debris, holding his breath due to the awful smell. Valgrim went back and picked up sling after fight but he has his morningstar in his hand as he looks

Poking into the rubble Valgrim finds an old leather backpack half-buried under a pile of humanoid bones in the northern part of the den. The bag contains an elaborate lantern of indigo metal inset with indigo glass panes.

"Pretty lantern for the flighty elf", says Valgrim, as he hands it to Vug. He then puts his morning star away and reloads his sling. "Guess we go west."

Bubba's eyes light up when he sees the lantern.

"May I examine it?" he asks Vug.


Following the wolf attack: "Is anyone wounded?" Feres asks. "Does anyone need healing?"

After Valgrim returns with the lantern: Feres looks on with interest as Bubba examines the lantern. "Hmmm. I wonder if it has some sort of mystical significance," he muses.

I'm rolling Vug's Perception check, which works fine with me. Just don't forget to tell me when you want me to roll for you. except for Valgrim's stonecunning, with is automatic.

The western hall extends perhaps forty feet, ending at a small marble platform raised about six inches off the floor. A strange, shattered arcane apparatus rests upon this platform, its curved ovular frame giving the appearance of a noble’s dressing mirror. Only a third of this frame remains. An unusual arcane glyph about the size of a man’s head has been delicately carved into the baseplate of the support platform.

Knowledge (history or arcana) DC 10: If you happen to have both skills you still make only one roll and apply the highest bonus.

The glyphs don’t seem to be formed from a common alphabet, although they are reminiscent of arcane symbols representing elemental air.

called Vaati, which some unorthodox scholars consider the original written form of Auran.

Vug finds no obvious traps, but she does fined a few shards of an unidentifiable shiny black substance that feels like stone, but is slightly cold to the touch. These shards may be worth something to the right buyer.

Vug gleefully scoops up the unknown black substance and sniffs it, looking forward to submitting it to alchemical analysis later.

While Vug examines the black substance, Urg stands guard, watching out for anyone coming from behind them in the hall. His attention is not entirely undivided, however, as he keeps taking nervous glances in the general direction of the platform.

"You're right," Feres agrees with Bubba. "The glyphs represent names, with each referring to a single individual. But I can't make out much more than that."

The shards are some kind of black glass.

There is only one symbol carved in the base, but upon closer inspection you notice a number of smaller runes carved into the inside of the frame, where the "mirror" would have been held.

"Hey, do you think this is some kind of puzzle, like?" Vug hazards, looking at the glass shards and the mirror frame. She tentatively tries fitting some of the glass pieces into the frame to test the principle.

It's quite possible that the shards once fit into the frame, but there is far to little of them left to actually combine into anything.

Unless you want to search more thoroughly the only way ahead is through the webbed arcade, where a number of tiny spiders skitter around. Through the webs a faint green light flickers.

Valgrim puts his sling away, takes out his waraxe and moves toward the webbed arcade, movin the webs out of his way with his waraxe, moving towards the green light. "Pesky spiders, hope there's no mama spider lurkin' about."
