I am going to test the waters and try and destroy the closest piece of Tapestry, I cannot see the map so just target whichever piece is closest to me
Executioner's Noose ranged 5, 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29 vs fort, 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 force damage and it is slowed until the end of my next turn.
Lynore throws a loop of shadowy darkness at the tapestry.

Barel gestures to one part of the closest curtain. "If we take out this side, we can ease our way between the tapestries through to the next part of the room."
[ooc] I suggest aiming for N27. If we can take out N26 and N27, we should be able to the fire without provoking more attacks by the tapestries (if we can push a table a little bit). After that it will get more tricky...particularly if the fire is not just a fire!
edit--oops...to late.

Thom nods at the wisdom of Lynore and steps into position to destroy more of the tapestry.

Attack: Thunderwave
At Will; KEYWORDS Arcane, Implement, Thunder
You create a whip-crack of sonic power that lashes up from the ground.
Standard Action, Close Blast 3 (target squares I27 and I28
Attack: Intelligence 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21 vs. Fortitude
Hit: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 thunder damage, and you push the target a number of squares equal to your Wisdom modifier (+0).

Sonic waves make the tapestries billow with an additional travesty of the life they seem to contain, but does not destroy any part of them.
I've got a class later today and if Kidlat hasn't posted by then, I'll act on his behalf. Both he and Tavar are potentially computer free at the moment.

Outraged by the pervision before him, Tavar shows his displeasure by incinerating an entire row of the dangerous fabrics.

Barel looks at the damage to the tapestry and decides to try his luck. He takes a few careful steps towards Arishat and then walks towards Kidlat, finally turning 90 degrees to walk toward the next table.
Double move action: from K27 to L28, then to O28. Right turn and forward to O22. I am trying to stay at least 5 feet from all tapestries...if the tapestry end near P22 extends into that square, then Barel will stop at O23 and consider pushing the table next turn.

Barel eases his way cautiously around the tapestries, coming to no harm in the process, but looking rather as if he is indulging in an elaborate dance.
Arishat - to answer your question of a few posts ago, you can push the tables into the tapestries. They are heavy and laden with food, so it would be a Strength check of some kind. Probably DC20. As long as you don't end adjacent to a tapestry, it won't attack you.

Arishat's spear lashes out, targeting the nearest section of undamaged tapestry. Taking care not to get too close to the tapestries, she moves up to Barel.

I don't think we need to shift the furniture. Unless something happens when the tapestries get destroyed, we don't even need to get close to them.
This seems a slightly odd room, from a design viewpoint. 4e characters have plenty of ranged powers, as at-wills. Destroying all the tapestries from the safety of the doorway doesn't seem like it should constitute a challenge.
| Barel Dlode |
Barel winces at the further destruction of the tapestries.
"Perhaps we shouldn't destroy all of them...think of the innocent adventurers that are trapped in there. If we can end the reign of this Acerak-thingy, then maybe all the innocent will be set free. But if we destroy all these tapestries, are we not sinking to his level? I think I have plotted a way through the maze. If we destroy the tapestries at here, there and then over there, we should be able to get through with minimal damage and minimal use of our powers. What do you think?"
@Arishat: Perhaps this isn't meant to be a hack and slash encounter...just a maze to ease our way through, with as little destruction as possible. We could get sucked into the tapestries, so presumably other adventurers have also.
@all: If we destroy the sections at M18-19, N13-14, R-U4, we should be able to get through without drawing further attacks. Unclear to me are whether we need to take out P21-22 and R-S7 (I think they are clear, but would like RevDM's clarification, please).
Also, this all assumes there are not other traps (such as potentially something around the fire).
Barel is not trying to take over, but he is used to squeezing through dangerous, tight spaces; And this just seems like a version of that (thinking of equating this to a dungeoneering check which Barel has +16, so he should be able to plot a safe way through, just as he would plot his way through a dangerous mineshaft?). Thoughts or input?

One thing is presume we cannot see the exit since it is covered in Tapestries as well
I assumed we could see the evidence of the alcove underneat the tapestries...but I could also be metagaming too much. I try to avoid that, but it is difficult sometimes.
That is a good thought about freeing the people inside
Maybe we should cut some down and roll them up to be removed back to somewhere that the people can be freed later?
If we can simply make our way through, it would be less dangerous to us...however, that is pretty selfish on our part. I would be willing to try that if the group wants to. Another option is just to cut them down and roll them up to get them out of our (and other adventurers') way.

Arishat removes another section of tapestry and advances.
Barel - R-S7 and P21-22 are clear. You are adjacent in both areas, but they don't have tapestry in them.
Really, Thom would need to be adjacent to be sure, but he can be assumed to be making a check as a standard and moving away.
To his sorrow, Thom realises that the trapped figures are probably beyond hope or help.

Thom rolls up his sleeves and blasts the tapestries and their unwilling inhabitants into pieces. Meanwhile, Lynore rootles through the nearest tables and takes enough of the magically enhanced food for each of the group to benefit once.
It takes 5 minutes to eat the stuff, but once consumed, has the effect of an extended rest and restores surges/hp/powers as such.
A result I'm fairly confident WoTC hadn't anticipated when they set up this room :) It seems legitimate to me according to the rules as we know them. And not everyone has a wizard. Group 1 don't for a start.

Barel will explore some, but will steer clear of the fire. He will go to the alcove on the western wall. Barel is not interested in eating right now, but will save his food for another time.
Move North in Column 23, west on Row K, South on Column 6, and stops on S6 to look into the alcove.
Maybe that is too much detail, but just wanted to be clear where I was exploring.

Damn you, Group 2. I keep having to drop everything and make new maps for you :D
That's okay RevDM, we still have some ravenous characters that will take at least 5 minutes to eat...is that enough time?
Barel is glad to see the others join him. He, too is curious about the fire, but is not going to tempt fate.
"I am going to store some of this food in a sack in my bag of holding...anyone else interested in saving their serving for later?"
