The woman seems to consider it.

"Tell ya what, girl, I come with you, give you the lay of the land." She looks at Blackbow suggestively, "And you let my boys here go."

@others

Spoiler:

"Dissarm the men and let them go. Kressle comes with us, along with Varos and Greffen. She's proved she can be loyal. Let's just make sure it's to us. Blackbow's taken her fancy, at least."

"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."

Blackbow states as he looks the bandit leader up and down.

Ardell is clearly not happy that Blackbow recieves all of the womans attention. It was him, not blackbow, who had taken her out of the fight after all!

"Allright, enough chit chat, we need to get moving. There is a drunken stag that needs to be taken care of"

"aye"

Blackbow sets off.

So, are you heading directly for the Stag Lord's Fort? Or will you explore as you go? Remember that exploration takes longer. (You cannot claim a hex as part of your lands until it has been explored.)

I'm tempted to say "explore as we go", since acute curiosity is Pavla's flaw. The tactician in her player says otherwise, but I'm going with character for now.

I say we explore as we go, but go the straightest way to the fort. The land will be easier to claim if no bandits can interfere

Female Human

Explore

How many times has this game died and came back to life? A few dozen?

So, yeah, explore in a nice relatively-straight line to the fort. We'll have plenty of time to explore more when we don't have a bandit king breathing down our necks.

Cool. I'll correspond with Rosey (your mapper) and we'll get it up asap.

Poised to map.

Once, the other time was because our GM was on his honeymoon...

Get half-credit for exploring on the way there? then explore the rest after.

MAP

Exploring a hex takes a day. You are following directions from the bandits.

The Restov group head south with the 2 bandits and Kressle in tow. She gives the bare minimum of direction but does indulge in sly looks and suggestive remarks to the male party members, especially Blackbow.

The woodland gives way to low hill-country. Following the river, you come to a 20 foot gulch in the hills. An old wooden bridge provides passage over the river. It is clear that not many should cross at the same time.

You will need to cross to complete exploration of this hex. Pavla - please mark 'Rickety wooden bridge' in this hex

Updated map

"Over we go."

"I would advise a secondary line for safety..." "Wouldn't want to fall I think"

"Come on, it's just a damn bridge. You cowards can set up a handrail, I'll be waiting on the other side."

Korren begins crossing the bridge.

He's Overconfident, remember?

Female Human

"I agree with Korren." Kari says. "A couple of us should go, then the bandits, then rest of us." She'll wait for Korren to cross, then she follows along.

"I'll guard the prisoners and send them across when you guys are over" Ardell says while sending a lewd look Kressles way.

Korren and Kari make it across the bridge safely, bar some worryign swaying.

Kressle returns Ardell's look.

The bandits squawk, "Ye're sendin' us across one at a time, right?!"

"Hey, we could mind the horses, 'til ye come back from yer 'sploration!"

"Grow up. And walk."

"Look, lady, ye can't take horses cross there." they point out, "Ye can come back here, but no tellin what might happen if ye just leave em untended."

"And if'n we leave them with you? I can think of a few things that might happen..."

Kressle points out, "How about a little splittin' up? "she offers with an air of superior amusement, "Some of my boys with some o' your gang, some o' your'n with mine?"

"Weasels. If we're splitting up, anyone coming with me needs to remember them."

Blackbow shakes his head..."You seem to think you've gained our trust."

"Varos. Look after the horses. If you run off with them you're a bigger fool than you look and I'll hunt you down. That's not an idle threat."

Pavla comes to a decision and crosses the bridge.

Kressle smiles innocently, "Now, that weren't so hard." she says to Blackbow.

The day proceeds without any further incident, and the group can map the surrounding terrain until they return to Varos in the evening.

Congrats - your first explored hex. :) Please all receive 3 XP, and your Bennies return to full. Where to next? The bandits indicate that you should continue south-west (either the SW or S hex, up to you.

SW hex and fully explore it.

That night, there is an uneasy silence around the campfire, as the explorers and their prisoners share a meal.

Please deduct any rations. You also have 3 prisoners to take care off. Anyone foraging, please roll if you wish to gather more supplies in your exploration of the bridge hex.

Survival:1d6 ⇒ 5
Wild Die:1d6 ⇒ 5

Blackbow has found sustenance for 1 person. You have 2 more people with no food and water, unless you apportion some of your own rations to them.

Female Human

Survival:1d6 ⇒ 5, Wild:1d6 ⇒ 4

1d6 ⇒ 3 - survival
1d6 ⇒ 5 - wild

Pavla's new affinity with nature continues.

2 successes.

Between them, the heroes manage to gather supplies to make sure their captives are sustained. A new day dawns and they continue their exploration.

Heading to the southwest, the heroes continue through hilly terrain without any sightings of dangerous creatures. The group enter a long, thin valley between two hills, and spy a dense patch of berries that resemble raspberries. Much of the thicket is drenched in the gossamer silk of spiders' webs.

A Survival. or a Common Knowledge roll will tell you more.

Female Human

Kari looks around, more then a little worried by the sight of the webs.

Survival:1d6 ⇒ 3, Wild:1d6 ⇒ 3

"Spiders. Great." Korren looks at the bush with disdain.

Survival and wild die: 1d4 ⇒ 31d6 ⇒ 4

Fail. You can try a Common Knowledge roll (which is basically a Smarts roll), as you guys are from the area.

Alright. Just don't expect much. Smarts and wild die: 1d4 ⇒ 21d6 ⇒ 6

Uh, Wild die exploded. 1d6 ⇒ 5 more to that for a total of 11, assuming I should of rolled a wild die for this in the first place.

Yes, you should have. You're fine.

Korren recognises them as fangberries, and that they are quite rare. The best of the berries lies in the middle of the patch. He knows that they are sometimes used in potion-making, but they can also be eaten as a foodstuff. Gathering enough for a potion or day's meal will take 10 minutes, but great care will need to be taken.

Pavla looks on as Korren proves his intimate knowledge of the woodlands, flushing slightly with pleasure at his success.

"Just a patch of fangberries. You have steady hands, you should be able to pick some just fine." Korrne cracks his knuckles, grabs a bag and gets ready to begin harvesting.

So, what should I roll? Agility? Survival?

Each person gathering must make a Survival check. Failure means being damaged by the sharp thorns. Each person can gather 1 ration.

Alright. Another Survival check: 1d4 ⇒ 31d6 ⇒ 3

"Son of a $%^&*!"

Remember you can use a Benny.

Otto is up BTW, as of now. :)

1d6 ⇒ 2 - survival
1d6 ⇒ 3 - wild

Eager to emulate her hero, Pavla rips her hands to shreds. "Ouch. I don't think I was careful enough."

Fabes DM wrote:

Sure. 2 bennies left. 1d4 ⇒ 11d6 ⇒ 2
