Setting the Stage |

The room with shaft is dark. You would need to be in that room and and have dark vision to see what's at the bottom of the shaft. Or have a light source. The undead sense only penitrates a few feet of rock so you will need to be at the bottom of the shaft to see what undead are down there. Or the undead would have to be in the room at bottom of the shaft.

Setting the Stage |

Anapa you were trying to see if the pole could be fitted to hold the wheel so you aren't in the room to see the bottom of the shaft. It might be a good idea to mark where everyone is on the map. Just type or initials into whichever square you're in. remove the old initials.

could you link the map at the top?

Setting the Stage |

The light drops down the shaft the glow of the rock showing that the rope tied to piton ends some ten feet down. the shaft itself is smooth and continues fifty feet down before dropping through empty air for another ten feet and landing in a pile of rope. The floor is made of marble and there are some strange streaks in the floor.
Anyone at the shaft can make a perception check to see what the streaks are.

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 why can't she be like my half-elf with a +13 perception at first
Akina tries to decipher what the strange marks are but leaves it to the others to figure and tests the rope tied to the piton.

Ryuu Rossburg |

also have DV 60ft
yes it is... Welp. We aren't getting anywhere hanging around up here.
Ryuu will take out 50ft of rope And find a place to tie it to that seems sturdy enough. He will then toss the rope down and climb down. Pausing at intervals to check around .
perception : 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
do you want one or more rolls for that?

Setting the Stage |

The streaks at the bottom look like blood. Very old blood.
The 9nly place to tie a rope is the piton. It is still set deep and will secure a rope. You'll have to tahe off the old one , which is practically dust.
No you can take 10 and climb down. It's pretty simple to climb down a rope.

Anapa Scion of Anubis |

"you maybe right. Let us continue" he says softly

Darius slams in a fresh piton to make sure we have a safe piton to attach the rope to.
"I will go down first. Ryuu after me, Anapa guard the rear." Darius says as he starts to climb down.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Down below Darius takes out his greatsword and looks for any sign of trouble.

Setting the Stage |

Ryuu climbs down, as he passes the other rope he sees that the end of the rope looks hacked apart. He continues past easy and finds his rope hangs a foot above the opening, so he hangs down into the room about five feet from the floor. Dangling from the rope he finds himself hanging in the middle of a room.
In the steady glow of the sun torch Ryuu sees two figures facing each other sculpted onto a pair of doors to the west. They are intricately carved with padded armor and a scarab shield facing out and the other hand with a raised Kopesh ready to strike each other. They are beautifully sculpted. Some of the edges gleam with gold leaf and there are even some diamond chips worked into the eyes to give them a menacing glint.
Before these doors lies the crumpled form of the person that fell down the shaft. His legs twisted and sticking out at odd angles. A trail of blood stains the floor from him to the spot where tRyuu hangs above the remains of the rope. It must be where he fell. The body died facing the door, it's arms outstretched as if in the middle of dragging itself. The body is long since decayed and fills the chamber with a faint musty odor.
The shaft he hangs in is in the exact middle of this square room's ceiling. All the walls are ten feet away from it.
Ryuu hears Darius hammering in a piton and dropping a rope down.
Darius begins climbing down the rope when he reaches the ten foot mark, about where the other rope was cut when his foot touches the wall and he sees a flash of some pattern of arcane writing appear under his foot. He then begins to hear scratching and crumbling noises. He sees spots on the wall being eaten away by scarabs coming from behind the wall right at eye level.
Everyone hears a man's voice say something in ancient Osiriani "use your weapon..." Darius only hears some gibberish being said by a disembodied voice.
Ryuu swears he saw the mouth's of the figures on the doors moving.
Darious make two Will saves. DC 13. If you fail the first one you lose your action to trying to take out a weapon. If you succeed you get one action before the biting mass comes swarming out.
And in case anyone asks. No you don't see any other holes, just that rope that ends ten feet down.

Setting the Stage |

Darius pauses as his mind tries to comprehend what it is telling him but in hopeless. He has no clue. The scarabs burst our of the wall flying and swarming around Darius as he clings to the rope. They circle around while landing on the rope and crawling down the rope after him. All the while their chittering clicking sounds fill the shaft.
Akina looks at the swarm below but something seems off about it. Something is nagging at her head, then she realizes the scarabs are flying in a circle around Darius but the orbit of the outer ones takes them into and out of the wall as if it wasn't there... or as if they weren't really there.
Darius what do you do? Obviously you don't know what Akina does

Ryuu Rossburg |

will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
not sure if I need one? If so Ryuu will speak.
Something is not right... Ryuu will will wrap the rope around his arm and hold on with his legs, attempting to grab a torch and a flint and steel from his pack to then light said torch then climb towards the swarm holding the torch in its direction
climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 to keep grip with his legs

"Darius I don't think they're real just keep climbing down and if they are still there when you get to the floor just close your eyes I'll be right down." Akina calls out before casting detect magic down the shaft.

Setting the Stage |

Akina's eyes glow as she peers down the shaft Studying the situation. Right at the level where Darius is there are more patterns circling the shaft. She is pretty sure they are wards of some kind. There is a path through them below the original rope and now where Darius is. The wards seem to be in pairs casting some kind of illusion magic and a suggestion spell which luckily Darius didn't understand.

"Scarabs" he hisses quietly, then he looks at Akina as if asking Are you sure?

Darius hears Akina's words but does not know what to make of them. will if applicable: 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 1 + 4 = 19 He climbs down the rope as quick as he can and jumps down the last 10 feet if need be. Accelerated climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Mak'e Ral |

Mak'e Ral is just about to go for the rope to try and help Darius pull up and out of the pit when Akina mentions her plan. He keeps a hand on the hilt of his kukri still watching the swarm around Darius
will for staring at the swarm: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15

Setting the Stage |

Darius practically slides down the rope, Meeting Ryuu climbing toward him with a blazing torch finally alight in his hand.
Ryuu can't climb very fast with just one hand while keeping the torch away from the rope. It's just as well as Darius goes zipping past him on the other rope.
The scarabs swarm and buzz and chitter but they don't move from their original area of the shaft.
Darius hits the ground and finds that he doesn't have any of the scarabs on him. He doesn't even have any bites or feel any pain other than burned palms from descending the ropes so quick. He finally takes his great sword out and can look around.
In the steady glow of the rock Darius sees the same scene Ryuu saw. Sculpted doors, a marble floor with streaks of blood leading to a corpse with broken legs that had almost reached the door when it stopped and empty smooth walls. This is another empty room like the room above the shaft.

Anapa Scion of Anubis |

WS: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 another 7

Setting the Stage |

Ryuu waves the torch through the swarm and sees them fly right through the fire without noticing it. As he climbs up waving the torch the entire swarm fades from view along with the holes in the wall.
Its quiet again and the shaft looks as quiet and featureless as when you first saw it.

Setting the Stage |

Yeah that's my fault. lets set a schedule. I'll respond to posts at 6-7AM before work, 6-7 on way from work...got a long ass bus ride and post by phone, and 10-11PM before I turn in. So if I don't see your posts that night i'll check in the morning. During the day I may check in to answer questions in the Discussion thread or questions like this here. If you have particular times that you like to post let me know in discussion. I can always work something out. I really don't want anyone feeling like they are missing out on the action. In Gin's case I should have waited for him.

"Bloody magics! Give me a tangible foe any day!" Darius says in disgust.
"Let's hope we get some skellies or more vermin to smash now."

Anapa Scion of Anubis |

well, detect undead is kinda cool. So yah :P Anapa turns around at the sound, his DU still. He then shakes his head WS: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
if the dice keeps doing this, i will have to stab u at some point for making the paladin on edge. Especially because they in a romb :P =^^=

Setting the Stage |

With Darius down, Ryuu follows then Anapa, Gin quietly joins them at the bottom, he finds his rock sitting in the crumbled rope left by the unfortunate corpse. Akina and Mak'e are still up top.
The light from the rock and from the torch show that the room is empty except for the double doors and the corpse that broke their legs.

Anapa Scion of Anubis |

Anapa kneels by the corpse and says a quick prayer
-Posted with Wayfinder

Setting the Stage |

The end of each of the ropes hangs down 49 feet so to reach the floor everyone has to hang from the bottom and drop. For most of you that isn't that hard a jump. it's like five feet. For Mak'e Ral it will be closer to eight feet. He'll need to make an acrobatic roll to get safely to the ground unless anyone wants to help him get down.
Anapa kneels and prays next to the corpse. The corpse is laying face down as if he was crawling when he finally died. His left side is covered in cuts and slashes. In his right hand he still holds a bloody dagger that he must have slashed himself and the rope with when he was trying to kill the scarabs when he fell. His legs are twisted and badly broken. He is in fine leathers that have rotted with age. The backpack he wears has holes torn by broken bottles within. He is also wearing a scabbard with a rapier.
