Is there even a joke to be made? The punchline's already literally what just happened...

"I'm with ya, Sarine," Jenner growls, a murderous light in his normally placid face. He decides Sarine has the false Alba in hand, and turns to look at Ashlyn with her own foes. "--alright, I'm with Ashlyn."

Shouting a short word of invocation of Abadar, Jenner turns and tears for the nearest of the monsters attacking Ashlyn.

Use of fervor to cast Bull's Strength as a swift, move to move, std to attack with power attack/furious focus, bull's stength, vital strike

Sarine cleaves 'Alba' neatly in twaine, the eldritch glow of her word giving her the appearance of a hero of old. Jenner and Elizar agree on something for once and between them bludgeon a second stalker into a shapeless pile of bones. Their sudden action leaves Ashlyn without a foe in range and her hastily conjured trident is ineffective.

With only two of their number remaining the stalkers howl and throw themselves at the crew of the ship, seemingly determined to take some with them!

Attacked from two sides, the leading crewman desperately fends off one blow with his club but the other stalker slams its sharpened fingers into his throat, seemingly exaulting in the blood that spurts across its hands.

Party up, 2 stalkers remain. Eli/Jen/Ash can all 5ft step into combat. Sar/Tet would need to move/charge.

Aurelian ducks under Tobias' embrace and drills his rapier neatly into each of the man's eyes. His former lover falls stone dead to the floor as 'Marguerite' lets out a scream! "You killed him!"

With that her disguise disappears, leaving a hairless, leathery biped has a face dominated by grotesque and unsettling whorls and slits instead of actual features. She leaps on Aurelian, seemingly intent on his throat! Her hands find a breif grip, but the swordsman is too wily to be pinned down by one woman for long!

Jenner grimly steps forward and tries to cut down another of the shapeshifters. "Yeh are doin' good work there, Ashlyn," he remarks.

In a flurry of blades and blows the remaining faceless stalkers are cut down. Ashlyn is able to help one of the more lightly wounded sailors, but the bosun's mate who went one to one with a stalker is too far gone to be saved.

It is only in the aftermath of this short and brutal fight that something becomes clear... Aurelian still isn't here!

Said swordsman however is holding his own easily. Unhampered by either trousers or modesty Aurelian ducks easily under Tobias' first blow, pierces his side with his own blade and then finishes the creature with a precise thrust to the throat.

Standing amongst the bleeding bodies of two aberrations the swordsman is forced to reflect that trysts don't normally end like this. Even for him!

Out of round mode for a little (hoping you're going to get the party back together again! :))


Chelaxian Bloodrager 8

I think it's been a while since Sarine went into combat and didn't get hurt! Yay!

"There could be other attacks in the village and I don't see Ramona. Let's go scout it out," Sarine says to the others around her.

"Is your captain about?" Sarine asks the remaining sailors. "We're going to check the settlement, but these creatures wanted your ship for some reason. We need the supplies you have, but you may want to sail into the bay some distance for protection."

As amusing as it would be for Sarine to treat Aurelian like a damsel in distress, I don't think she'd do that. Sarine's plan is to ensure Ramona's safety and then to check on Alba's home on the chance that the dwarven woman is still alive. If that brings the group within shouting distance of Tobias & Marguerite's home, she'll yell at Aurelian to get his pants on.

Details to clear up: were any of the townsfolk battling the sailors earlier that didn't later turn into monsters? Is the ship on fire from the concoction Alba threw at it?

Assuming someone directs her to the home of his paramours ...

"Aurelian! Are you ok? We ..." she begins before noticing his lack of lower apparel and turns crimson as she tries to direct her eyes somewhere ... else.

"No!" Aurelian says, for once incredibly focused as he looks around the house. "Something has happened to Tobias and Marguerite.

"Aurelian hopes they were just taken and these ... things ... impersonated them, but he fears the worst. They knew too much about how Tobias and Marguerite act when they are only with those they love," he says.

He quickly begins putting on his clothes and armor, and then looks around the house for clues.

"Help me, please," he asks.

Then suddenly realizing he had been distracted earlier: "What is happening outside?"

No, all the 'townsfolk' turned out to be monsters. The alchemists fire Alba threw has been successfully stifled.

Ashlyn stays with the sailors, determined to protect them from any other monsters or deranged townsfolk.

"I'm so sorry! I had no idea the people were... candle-people! Let's get you back on your boat. It'll be easier to defend you that way!"


The sailors scurry to obey Ashlyn and take the corpse with them before pulling up the gangplank and setting sail for the deeper water of the bay.

Aurelian is found (fortunately with his trousers on) and the group returns to the centre of the settlement. Bedlam reigns, with scuffles, panic and even some looting going on as everyone accuses their neighbours, friends and sometimes even family of being imposters. Unfortunately the troubles are too numerous and minor for intervention until you catch sight of Carver duelling furiously with one of the face-melted creatures.

Just as the group arrives Carver manages to duck away as the creature over-extends and rams his sword into its chest. The half-person collapses to the floor and Carter leans over, breathing heavily.

"I'm getting too old for this." He mutters before looking up. "Thank the gods you're here. They have Ramona! I saw her being dragged into the meeting hall before that thing attacked me. We need to move quickly!"

God's wounds, if these bastards have killed so many close to us, I'll see the scales balanced with blood before I sheathe this axe again."

It seems that we're too busy to be paranoid. ;)


Carver quickly leads you into the open hall of the government house, a couple of injured colonists groaning on the floor just inside. Once you are in the center of the building, though, the pair swiftly leap to their feet and slam the doors closed, turning the lock.

Carver looks in the direction of the slamming doors, his face elongated with momentary shock, readying his crossbow as he does. Then, with a subtle shift of his expression, he laments, "This all would have been easier if I'd just killed you first. Ah well, live and learn."

The flesh of his face peels back as the faceless stalker that was impersonating the bard reveals its true form! The other "colonists" in the building follow suit.

Ashlyn focuses on the melted-looking fellow about to surround Aurelian. "Taaaaaaake.... THIS!" A magical trident appears in the air and stabs at the faceless stalker.

Elizar rushes up to the enemy nearest to Ashlyn and slams into it!

The stalkers all react similarly even as Sarine carves a great gash into one's chest, Ashlyn stabs another with a trident of spiritual force and Elizar slams into a third. All the creatures fall back from combat and hurl vials of alchemists fire - two aim at the walls and set fire licking hungrily across the walls. Another aims into a space, splashing Elizar and Jenner with flame, whilst the final one throws at Sarine from point-blank range.

The former-Carver pulls out his longsword and slashes at Aurelian, just avoiding the swordsman parry and opening a gash in Aurelian's arm. The creature then attempts to smack him around the head, but again the swordsman is too nimble!

(Has it been less than six minutes since the last fight? If so, my bull's strength is still up. But it might be expired. Move to move, swift to cast ironskin on myself with a fervor use, and std to power attack/furious focus, vital strike, on Yellow)

"Oh!" Ashlyn exclaims. "I do!" She thrusts her arms out at the nearest flames, sending a powerful gout of water flying at the fiery walls.

She's using hydraulic push as a spell-like ability on the walls that are on fire. It extinguishes any normal fires on a creature, object, or in a single 5-foot square which it is targeted against. I put a blue X over the fire she just put out. Rolling an attack roll for it, in case you want one. Not sure if its needed.

Elizar takes a five foot step forward and slams into the monster that just burnt him.

Sarine carves the creature in front of her into two separate pieces as the fires behind her continue to eat away at the walls.

All three creatures facing Aurelian target him, the leader with his sword which Aurelian flicks away in a parry and other two with their brutal fist blows.

Tettia fires a pinpoint ray of fire at Elizar's foe as Ashlyn attempts to control the fire and Elizar batters it with his fists. Jenner meanwhile attempts to save Aurelian Fache and lands a mighty blow on one of his assailants.

The fires continue to burn, spreading across the walls. As the fires blaze across the walls, particularly on the eastern side, thick smoke begins to fill the government house.

Anyone within 5 feet of a burning square must make a DC15 fort save or be staggered for a round as they choke and cough.

You can move directly, so your chosen square is fine. One fire got 'doesn't spread'. Another got 'spread 2 squares in all directions'...

Sarine cleaves yet another aberration nearly in twain although it continues to fight on, for now.
