Gergo |
Irony was too weak a word to use in this situation. Gergo of all people put his finger to his lips in the universal gesture of asking for silence, following that he quickly motioned the others to gather around him.
"Something is flapping it's wings somewhere above the stairs south of us, and a smell of something rotting from the door to the south" Whispered Gergo before he pointed at the stairs with his sword [b]"Since we know our crow friends don't have wings, it's probably the Harpy that's flying around. You did say that she's the one your new boss is pining for, right Ishga?
Friday Daud |
"Might be the dead, since they like just leaving corpses around." Friday says while inclining his head towards the southern door.
Moving over to the stairs he waits for the others before heading up. He was really interested in seeing this deadly winged woman.
Kavell Speranta |
Kavell pointed at himself then the southern door. If it were something undead in there he would keep his eyes out for it, He went ahead and motioned for Gergo and Friday to perhaps do there thing with the feathers.
Haru Yoshioka |
Did we ever make a knowledge roll to determine the abilities of Harpies?
GM_Jadecat |
Creeping up the stone steps of the tower, Friday notices that the odour of rot and filth has been replaced with the scent of soap and... some manner of sweet-smelling perfume.
The walls of this semicircular room are lined with bookshelves, although the majority of the books lie in disorganized piles on the floor. A large nest of grass, branches, and strips of cloth is tucked in the northeastern corner of the room, while a wooden door sits in the wall to the northwest...
GM_Zaiobe |
Sitting in on a stool, with a massive longbow leaning on a nearby bookshelf and a book opened in her talons, is a curiously-clean harpy. Her red hair falls to her shoulders as she delicately flips a page of her book with a sharp fingernail. Her reddish-brown wings are folded neatly behind her back, and her chain shirt *clinks* softly.
She looks up as Friday enters the room, her red eyes clear and focused on him. She arches an eyebrow, her expression a mixture of surprise and slight irritation. She dog-ears the page of her book and closes it, setting it on her stool as she stands up.
She waves at him with one hand held out, her mood visibly lightening.
Friday Daud |
A beckoning was... definitely not the greeting he was expecting from the deadly woman, though a small part didn't mind that. Ignoring everything in the room he marveled at what he saw before him, though to his credit he kept the same stoic look on his face. Still he considered himself rather lucky, to be constantly meeting more and more beautiful women.
Since she didn't seem to be angry with his prescence, in fact, quite the opposite, he decided to approach. "Um, hello Miss..." he offered meekly while also trying to keep aware of his surroundings.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Gergo |
Wondering why there had been not much sounds of battle when Friday entered, Gergo followed after him in a casual manner and peeked his head from the door...but not really trying to hide his presence.
The sight of the harpy surprised him; he didn't expect a beauty...or the lack of body odor, not that he minded really..."Hello beautiful" He muttered as he stepped from behind the door...still though he kept his senses locked in her, in search of a hunch about her personality or motive.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 LOL, why am I not surprise that this particular check got a 1.
Friday Daud |
"Oh! My apologies, um..." fretting at offending her Friday does as she implies and gently takes her hand in his.
GM_Zaiobe |
The harpy takes Friday's hand with a little smile.
Her voice starts speaking in your head. It sounds strangely melodic, if somewhat hollow.
<My name's Zaiobe. What's yours, sir?>
Friday Daud |
Friday actually smiles back slightly before his eyes widen. "Oh it's..." he starts before stopping himself.
GM_Zaiobe |
The harpy nods at Friday.
She glances over at Gergo and arches an eyebrow at him before holding out a hand to him as well.
Friday Daud |
Friday smiles some more, like he did usually whenever someone said something nice to him.
Friday gets a nervous look on his face for a moment, obviously thinking about something important, but relents.
Ishgana did say she was the mate of the crow headed man they had come to kill, would they have to kill her too? He hoped they wouldn't have to.
Valeria Skendar |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
While Valeria was worried about the harpy, she couldn't help twitching her eyebrow in irritation at how she dog-eared the page. She only hoped it wasn't a valuable book.
Finding it curious why Friday was just standing there holding the harpy's hand, she spoke up.
"Friday; what's going on? Either she's got you seriously entranced or something else is happening."
Haru Yoshioka |
Haru was ready to begin singing a countersong to block the Harpy's entrancing voice, but is nonplussed when the Harpy seems to signal that she can't speak. "Is she speaking to you somehow, Friday?"
Sense Motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Friday Daud |
Ignoring the others for a moment, it was rather difficult to have multiple conversations on two different fronts, Friday bows to the woman before turning around to the others.
"Sorry, this is Miss Zaiobe, and she says we may be able to help each other." he says aloud to everyone without letting go of her hand.
Haru Yoshioka |
"Maybe she wishes to turn against him as well, as you have," Haru whispers to the hobgoblin.

Kavell Speranta |
Kavell said nothing, instead he focused inward concentrating on the Harpy and her...aura.
Detect evil focusing on the harpy,
He didnt like to do it, and he knew it was not how one must judge a soul, but... he had a bad feeling about things.
GM_Zaiobe |
Zaiobe curtseys briefly before looking back at Friday.
The harpy arches an eyebrow at Ishgha, who scoffs.
She beckons for the others to enter the room.
Haru Yoshioka |
Haru steps forward cautiously. "Can you hear me? I would like to hear what you're saying to Friday as well," she says, holding out her hand.
Friday Daud |
Friday smiles as Haru steps up and joins the conversation.
Valeria Skendar |
"Since you don't need to talk to answer this one; can this telepathy link daisy-chain through people? Like could I put my hand on Friday's shoulder and hear you?" Valeria had come across scenes like this in various novels - though in those cases the telepathic mutes were seers or other mystics who would impart cryptic-yet-prophetic clues to the protagonists (or, in one of her more favourite books, only pretended to be mute purely to screw with the protagonists and send them on a comedic wild goose chase). She'd never seen one that had been written smoothly without just omitting the instances of messages being relayed verbally.
Now that she was actually living through one, she realised the writing in those scenes was as smooth as a baby's backside by comparison.
Haru Yoshioka |
"She wishes to speak to all of us. Gather round?"

Valeria Skendar |
Hoping that it could daisy-chain, Valeria put her hand on Friday's shoulder and focused.
If she gets no response, she'll shift over and try again with her hand on part of Zaiobe's arm.
Friday Daud |
Although he doesn't say aloud Friday turns and narrows his eyes at the warrior once he sees the finger rudely appear and go for the Hrpy's face. Using his free hand he smacks the offending digit away before it touches her.
Friday Daud |
"No, I'm telling you to touch her hand like the rest of us and not poke her like a rude twit," the bodyguard growls out, sounding rather low and off coming from him.
Gergo |
"Ooooh, you could have said so I don't read minds...and if I could I wouldn't start with yours, you'd be oh I'd say fifth on the list" Replied Gergo casually, his tone having no distinction from a tone he'd use when he's talking to a friend at a tavern.
The warrior craned his neck to the left and only stopped when he felt his muscles loosen a bit, then he reached out with the finger that had been swatted away the last time and touched the Harpy's hand.
Friday Daud |
"I shouldn't have to tell you not to poke people in the face." Friday growls out.
Gergo |
"Would be useful if I could give people a plague with a touch, I could see many people wanting to hire me for mercenary work...but it could get annoying when I want to spend time with the ladies" Gergo's free hand began combing his unruly hair, his mind racing with ideas of being both a mind reader and a spreader of a plague.
"You civilized folk would scoff at the smallest things and call them disrespectful. Bah, such a complicated way of living, its no wonder you look bored all the time" Gergo yawned and shrugged his left arm several times.
Friday Daud |
"I have absolutely no idea where got the thought that I was civilized. But even I know poking people in the face is rude." Friday said, his voice getting hoarse as he wasn't used to this much talking in such a short period of time.
Gergo |
Gergo looked in Friday's direction, his eyes focusing directly on the man, but there was no anger or mockery in them, just a a pure gleam of curiosity "You never talked this much before...maybe you really do have something for her" His eyes shifted towards the Harpy "Well I can't say I blame you she is beautiful"
Friday Daud |
"You've never annoyed me this much before." he coughs out.
Kavell Speranta |
Kavell said nothing, though his glare at the two said volumes. He didnt want to do this link thing, but after the wild man's antics he felt like he couldnt not do it. He just had to pray it didnt somehow end up turning out ver badly.
Third best behavior for the moment Gergo, could you manage that? Try to remember the serious nature as to why we are here. Please leave off as well Friday, you two can argue later.
He added words to his chastisement finally, though he didnt chide too hard. Mentally he said another quick prayer then cautiously joined the link.
