"Those weapons are the katana, the shotel, the falcata, the khopesh, and the kusarigama. I know them from my knightly training," Aasimarra says proudly. "That would make her...hmm...the marilith general, Aponavicius. I should hope she is not here. That might be unpleasant."

Eli opens the doors into a yawning abyss of darkness. Even those that usually are not troubled by regular darkness cannot pierce the inky black veil within the room.

Suddenly, an invisible *push* hits the big man in front, sending him tumbling 15 feet back and into the pit where he disapears through the illusory wall that is the floor and continues on for many more feet.

He shrugs again, and digs deeper, looking for his fallback - the Oil of Daylight… S@+$…

”Can anyone deal with this damnable darkness?”

He takes the rope and grapple out of his pack (move), hooks the grapple on the edge of the pit (standard), and drops the rope into the pit (free?). It is a 50' silk rope. Hope the pit isn't deeper than that!

"HEY!" protests Mathilda "That was a cheap shot!" In a resolute tone she states, "I'm gonna go get the Army. You guys wait here."

Cole:
You think you feel the bow tug lightly to the left.

She continues on, slightly dejected. "Oh, I forgot. This won't do." Her voice then brightens. "But many, many can play at this game."

"Ok, everyone. Wait for whatever it is to come through, then step aside and push it into its own trap. Don't let it get on the rope! she whispers.

She calls mockingly into the darkness "HEY! You in the dark! What's the matter with you?! Are you so weak you have to resort to nasty traps and silly tricks?"

Serra sees:
The north and south walls of this chamber feature at least 2 alcoves each, and each contains a large, jagged purple crystal on a pedestal. Eerie red lichen clings to the walls, providing a nasty dim light within the glow of the daylight. More importantly is what he doesn't see. He sees no sign of The culprit that has bullrushed two of his companions into the pit.

Your scalp beings to itch a little as you realize that Mathilda is currently very puzzled.

The fluttering sound as of a bird in flight can be heard as Mathilda politely clears her throat.

"But, what do you mean that there is 'nothing' to see? That there is 'nothing' there? Did you not just switch on a light? Surely it can not be The Void! Did you at least see a room with things in it or something like that?"

Cole:
Now you're becoming a skosh dizzy as Mathilda starts thinking in circles.

"I give up. What do you think the Pushiness is? Is it an invisible Being from The Void? Maybe it's a SpellTrap that can be disarmed? I know Cole!!! Let's just shoot into the open doorway! I mean -- once Jurin is not in the way!"

Her voice trills in anticipation.

Eli opened the door.
The Darkness threw him into the pit. There was a loud thumpgroan, and the tiny sizzleslurp of slime beginning to feast.

Cole uses some rope and begins to help Eli Climb up. The Darkness did nothing, so Jestak stormed the doors, only to be tossed unceremoniously into the pit. more slizzleslurp was heard.
Serra cast daylight and went to peek inside, then moved back to a safer position.
Jurin casts fly then moves into the Darkness. Except for the doorway where Serra's light currently fights back the gloom, Jurin can see nothing.

knowledge dungeoneering: 19(slime):
This dungeon peril is a dangerous variety of normal slime. Green slime devours flesh and organic materials on contact and is even capable of dissolving metal. Bright green, wet, and sticky, it clings to walls, floors, and ceilings in patches, reproducing as it consumes organic matter. It drops from walls and ceilings when it detects movement (and possible food) below.

A single 5-foot square of green slime deals 1d6 points of Constitution damage per round while it devours flesh. On the first round of contact, the slime can be scraped off a creature (destroying the scraping device), but after that it must be frozen, burned, or cut away (dealing damage to the victim as well). Anything that deals cold or fire damage, sunlight, or a remove disease spell destroys a patch of green slime. Against wood or metal, green slime deals 2d6 points of damage per round, ignoring metal's hardness but not that of wood. It does not harm stone.

The north and south walls of this chamber feature three alcoves each, and each contains a large, jagged purple crystal on a pedestal. Just at the end of the dim light, Serra can make out a marble slab. A small bit of crumbled bit of red fabric is also visible hanging off the top.A seventh crystal sits on a seventh pedestal to east, just behind a marble slab on which sits a crumpled red banner. Two statues of demonic figures flank this slab in alcoves—the northern one depicts a goat-headed winged demon and the southern one is an insectoid horror armed with a scythe.
whisps of a darkness squat above the banner, an ugly black frown splitting the lower face from the upper.

Cole shoots at the doorway, but misses.
Eli tries to climb out of the pit, partially succeeding, though he takes more damage as the slime continues to eat at his armor and anything else non stone on his person.
Jestak ruins her sword but scrapes the slime off of her.
The Darkness tries to claim Jurin's soul, but finds it too alien to hold.
Serra takes his Daylight into the pitch black night, finally revealing the darkness to be, well, dark. quickly, he sprinkles some aasimarian sparkles into the area, and covering the darkness in glitter.

Joran, emboldened by Serra's action, timidly follows after.

"Are you sure we should be in here? Hey, that's kind of pretty!"

Eli drops to the floor of the pit, but not before willing a 20' wide wall of fire to come into being ten feet above the floor, facing downwards. Cast Wall of Fire

He stands, simmering, on the floor of the pit, allowing the fire to rinse over him, and purge as much of the pit of the green slime as his magic will allow. As an afterthought, he hopes Jestaka was given the same resistance to fire as the rest of them.

Cole gets a good look at the shadowy creature, and becomes even more intent upon killing it off.

Below, Eli casts Wall of Fire, burning the slim from himself, Jestak and the pit itself.

Jestak screams and tries to to climb the wall to get out.

The Shadow's grin broadens, nearly engulfing its entire face, before it sinks into the stone of the altar below it, disappearing from view.

Serra:
The creature tries to work its shadowy wiles upon him, but cannot gain purchase. Serra can almost, but not quite hear/feel/sense his attack, like faint vibration through a stone wall.

He thinks on the contents of his pack, but can't recall any rope. He does recall a certain scale however, safely nestled in his mithral skillet. Sadly it cannot levitate his companions, only make them laugh themselves to death. Instead he casts light on the wall so once the fire is gone he can see what's going on down in the pit.

Eli looks up through the flames, and grimaces as he notes Jestaka's alarm. Only then, does he himself feel the waiver of the protections cast earlier, and readies to remove himself, post-haste, unless he begins to burn himself.
