Cinder, Wasp Familiar |

Cinder quickly orients on Merelda and lands easily on her shoulder, curling up against her neck, his watchful antennae flickering carefully for signs of more enemies.

GM Aumakua |

Gathering on the platform you can see an archway on the west wall. It opens into an unlit chamber.
The other option is to cross over another beam to the southeast platform where there is an archway, that those with darkvision and those able to perceive in the dim light, notice that it turns into a passage that continues east.

Innis |

Innis borrows the dark power in the infernal wand to restore her wounded companions.
Infernal Healing wand x2 22=> 24
Kirzon 10 => 20/33
Amigail 32 => 42/42
She looks between Meredla and the dark chasm offering the pit a shrug before following the elf into the west chamber.
Merry: +2 skills, ability, to hit

Amigail Trentwell |

Amigail thanks Innis for the still rather unsettling infernal healing; then she seems to have a silent internal debate before also thanking Merelda's giant wasp friend for helping her out during the fight.
Then she follows Merelda and Innis into the western chamber.

GM Aumakua |

The hall you enter is narrow and long. A few dusty cobwebs hang from the walls and ceiling in this otherwise empty chamber. In the middle of the south wall your light is able to show you an entry heading further south. Whether it opens into another hall or a room you cannot tell.

GM Aumakua |

Alright pushing us ahead
Surprise Round
You file into the room moving towards the entrance in the south. You hear no sounds coming from the southern entrance and see no light. You push aside the occasional harmless cobweb noting that it seems that nothing has come down this way in quite some time.
With Merelda flanked on either side by Cassandra and Amigail you almost reach the south entrance when from out of the western wall five figures, the gray pallor of their skin drawn tightly back, seem to leap straight out of the stone wall in unison.
Three of them move quickly flanking the party while the remaining two strike at you with a fist but neither is able to connect.

Lililinda |

Lililinda screams and cowers as she is surrounded by ghostly apparitions!
Total Defense for +4 dodge bonus to AC
AC14 T14

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

Knowledge(religion): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Merelda hisses a warning, trying to figure out what these things were...
"Defensive positions! Watch our flanks! Protect our casters!!"
Swift action to begin my Judgement ability- SMITING: All of Inquisitor’s weapons count as magic for the purposes of bypassing damage reduction!
She then strikes at the enemy closest to Cassie (Blue) in hopes to give her room to swing her deadly weapon...

Amigail Trentwell |

Amigail's falcata's swinging toward the nearest gray creeper (black) before she's even aware that she's acting.
Hack first, think later, she decides. Or better yet...eliminate a whole step! Hack first, think never. I can do that!
+1 falcata: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 for magic, slashing damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
While that method sounds good in theory (Does it, really?), Amigail's rushed hack is wild and inaccurate.

GM Aumakua |

With the skin drawn back on their face like a leathery mask and the grayish pallor of skin remind you both of the zombies you fought that before encountering the huecuva. You remember them as juju zombies.
Special Defenses = DR 5/magic or slashing, resist fire 10, immune to magic missile/cold/electricity is what you remembered from before.
In addition you know this useful piece of knowledge: juju zombies are able to retain memories of their past lives. In game terms this means that they maintain knowledge of their previous class (i.e fighter, thief or in this case monk.
Cassandra. Your turn.

Cassandra Leigh |

Did any of them take more than a 5' step when they attack? Combat Reflexes let's me smack them even if they surprised us.

GM Aumakua |

Yes black and yellow would have passed through your threatening area so go for it

Cassandra lashed out at two of the creatures when they attacked by sheer reflex. She couldn't tell for sure but she thought she got one of them. She stepped away from the nearest of the hecueva and prepared to lash out at it once it began to move.
5' step, ready attack on blue when it begins to act.

Cassandra watches as one of the juju zombie monks tries to get behind Innis and then cuts it down with one swift strike of her glaive as she tears her weapon through the undead creature's chest.
Merelda encouraged by Cassandra's quick strike stabs with her rapier trying to defend Cassandra while her attention is turned. Her rapier pierces the zombie and as she pulls the rapier back out she tears away at the muscle keeping its head upright. The injured creature however continues to stand.
Amigail swings and is easily evaded by the quick reflexes of the zombie. You hear her talking to herself under her breath no doubt trying to focus.
Lililinda does her best to look even smaller than she is as she findss herself surrounded.
The zombies move to attack and as the one in front of Innis attempts to strike her Cassandra comes down with her glaive slicing a deep gash in the creature's abdomen region you watch as the liquefied black ooze of it once living organs drains down its leg and the creature falls.
Watching two of their numbers fall does nothing to phase the zombies as they launch into a flurry of kicks, elbows and fists. An knee crashes into Kirzon's chest Kirzon takes 6 damage while a open palmed chop knocks the little gnome in the temple. Lililinda takes 3 damage
Innis and Kirzon/Boros. Your Turn. Followed by everyone else.

Innis |

Innis,Boros,Lili +4 AC; Mage Armor
Ami: +2 skills, ability, to hit
Innis: 1 Mirror Image, R: 1/2
Innis backs up from the initial flurry of combat while summoning a mirror image to keep herself safe. She also uses her blessing's guiding hand to assist Amigail who is perhaps better at fighting men than monsters.
@Lili: You, me and Boros have mage armor on, as long as we are adventuring in a danger zone. I'll reapply it as needs be via the wand. It was cast as we went down stairs after resting

Kirzon |
"Ock! 'Ow'd these zombies git 'ere?" Reeling from the blow of a zombie, Kirzon staggers back to safety, then calls on the Great Tree Spirit to imbue Boros's bite with magical force. 5-foot step, cast Magic Fang
Boros purposely engages all three remaining zombies to try and protect Kirzon, then tries to bite one of them. 5-foot step, bite Green.
Bite, Magic Fang: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27; Damage: 1d4 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Grab: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Bite damage is piercing/slashing/bludgeoning, so I believe with magic fang, it should pierce DR

GM Aumakua |

@Kirzon: That would be correct
Even before Boros can wrap its serpentine body around the zombie the powerful jaws of the snake snuffs out the life essence out of the zombie.

O.O" You've been saving that up for a while feel.
I almost favorited my own post just to have proof in the future that such things CAN happen...even with Amigail!

GM Aumakua |

Still shaking off the blow from the zombie Lililinda looks like an easy target for another attack. Fearing for the gnome's health Amigail pivots reactively as she calls out to the gnome seamstress to fall back.
Even before she finishes the last word the falcata hacks with devastating accuracy as the blade cleaved off half of the zombie's head. Both the body and the severed cranuium fall to the stone floor with a Thud.
well done Amigail! One left

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

"Move back!" Ami suggests to Lililinda as she takes the fight to one of the remaining zombies.

Innis shakes her head as Kirzon does little but tangle himself in cobwebs. The team moves further into the tunnel system.

GM Aumakua |

The passage quickly opens into another chamber. A large slab of black basalt sits against the middle of the south wall of this large tomb chamber. The dusty, cobweb-covered remains of a man wearing tattered funerary linens lay unmoving on the slab. A stone chest sits on the floor directly in front of the slab.

Cassandra Leigh |

Cassandra shuddered, "Yeah, I'll be glad when we get done with this place. These zombies everywhere are giving me the creeps."
