Innis |
if you don't attack the magic isn't broken, you can cast supportive & non-harmful magics still
Next ally to make a saving throw +2 saves
GM Aumakua |
Innis you are pretty sure the spell was resisted by the undead
Amigail Trentwell |
With an exaggerated sigh, Amigail stands back up and moves toward the southern door, drawing her falcata en route.
Innis |
@GM I'm not contesting. Just giving a Kirzon a heads up if things don't go south we can still use this after.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Standing unsteadily, Merelda gets up and draws her Rapier as she moves towards the door.
"In for a penny, in for a pound of flesh..."
Lililinda |
"Oh heavens, now what?" Lililinda staggers back to her feet at the sound of shouts coming down the corridor. "I thought they were just scouting!"
Boros the Snake |
Wait, Kirzon has an action? He slammed the door shut and ran away!
Now that you mention it, I guess Boros has an action!
The much braver snake companion of Kirzon takes up a position across from Amigail, lying in wait for its prey to come by. Double move.
Innis |
Innis readies her blessing to bolster the team's resilience if they need it.

ROUND 2
Combat Status
1. Undead w/ greatsword (?? HP)
2.
Merelda (22/25)
Kirzon (31/31) (+2 ability, skills & ToHit), (Prot from Evil)
Boros (12/17)
Cassandra (HP 39/39)
Lililinda (HP 16/16)
Innis (HP 19/19) (+2 save vs Fear (Party), (Prot from Evil)
Amigail (35/35)
*******************************************************************
Kirzon closes the door and the party waits for the figure to emerge from the room, but nothing happens.
Party is up!
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
"Maybe its mindless? Cinder? Go see if there is a back way that thing can come at us? I surely don't want to get flanked by it."
Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Cinder, Wasp Familiar |
Perking up at the request, Cinder buzzes a bit and takes off. He then flies back the way the party came, looking for a possible side passage the sword wielding creature could use.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
GM Aumakua |
Cinder flies off looking for any other ways that might secretly lead to the party's doom.
Merelda I ll hold the roll but you weren't able to see the creature in the darkness only Innis and Kirzon were able with their darkvision
Innis |
"it's not mindless Merelda else my magic would have worked. I think perhaps just not stupid it's already dead what does haste mean a creature like that?" Innis offers.
Innis will cast Protection from Evil on whoever opens the door or whoever is in front when it does open
Kirzon |
Kirzon sees if the Great Tree Spirit recognizes what he's seen:
Knowledge (religion) to identify creature: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Kirzon whispers back to the others: "Tha thing's pro'lly castin' more spells 'fore it comes out!"
Kirzon moves forward again to provide Guidance for Boros. And the snake waits, ready to strike. Ready action to attack when the door opens.
Cassandra Leigh |
Cassandra rose when Merelda did and unslung her glaive. She started to move in the direction of the fighting and said, "We should have gone to rest instead of press on." She sighed then, "Let's get this over with, Merelda, stay close to me so I can take down anything coming for you." She looked to Lillinda, "You too Lill."
Innis |
Innis shrugs understandably things did not proceed as she planned. "Leaving an enemy caster unchecked? What if it repaired his broken friends then all your hard work would be for naught?"
Lililinda |
Lililinda dutifully slips behind Cassandra. "Perhaps whatever it is, is bound to that room?" She suggests hopefully.
GM Aumakua |
Kirzon is surprised at what he realizes the creature to be. The creature while it appears to be a zombie is actually an huecuva.
Typically risen corpses of heretical clerics who blasphemed and renounced their deities before meeting death. In unlife, they hate and seek to destroy those pious souls who keep their vows. Huecuvas have a spark of intelligence that makes them cunning and deceptive foes.
Kirzon you can know 2 facts. Choose from the following categories: Special Defenses (DR, SR, Resistances, etc)| Special Attacks (breath weapon, blood drain, grab, etc) | Spell-Like Abilities | Special Qualities | Weaknesses.
Merelda you can know 3 facts since Kirzon has told you what creature it is. Choose from the following categories: Special Defenses (DR, SR, Resistances, etc)| Special Attacks (breath weapon, blood drain, grab, etc) | Spell-Like Abilities | Special Qualities | Weaknesses.
Note: Specific numbers wont be given but you will know if it resistant to certain weapons for instance). Each listed item in a category is considered to be one separate fact. Therefore you don't know everything under one category if multiple items are listed.
If you choose a category where nothing exists you can choose again
GM Aumakua |
Kirzon you know the creature has a minor resistance to weapons that are not silver OR magical in nature. You are unsure what spells it can cast although you have a good feeling that whatever spells it had in the past are still retained. This is also the case for any abilities it might have had in it's former life.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
While I'd love to say the other three that Kirzon didn't ask for, that doesn't make much sense. Merelda would want to know weaknesses, defenses, and special qualities in order to hurt it better. That's her focus as an inquisitor anyway.
"A WHAT? That's...maybe we should run..."
NOTE: None of you have heard Merelda say that EVER.
GM Aumakua |
Merelda you knowledge of the undead is astounding and that knowledge does not fail you here. You remember from an old tale that spoke of huecuva being able to take the appearance during the day of what they looked like in their former life, but when night falls upon them they take their true undead form.
Their claws are tainted with filth and they are able to transfer disease if they strike you.
Finally their rejection of their deity has strengthened their resolve making them and any other undead around them more difficult to affect with positive energy.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
"That thing can look 'alive' in daylight, its claws are diseased, and they are resistant to any gods' rebuke of the undead. We really need..."
Innis |
A wave of realization hits Innis like a bucket of cold water. She made a mistake not her shrouding spell even failed as it did chances were meant to be taken. No she failed to see just how thin the team's morale really was. Perhaps her own heated terrorization of Amigail blinded her to this. It was like a weight in the air everyone's sluggish movements, the old dwarf first to the wind seeking the comfort of his snake and her fellow sister caught between fight and flight.
"Steel yourself Sister! I'll not have you preach our demise before the battle has even begun." Innis calls sharply her own courage not yet broken. Fear after all should be earned not freely given.

ROUND 3
Combat Status
1. Undead w/ greatsword (?? HP)
2.
Merelda (22/25)
Kirzon (31/31) (+2 ability, skills & ToHit), (Prot from Evil)
Boros (12/17)
Cassandra (HP 39/39)
Lililinda (HP 16/16)
Innis (HP 19/19) (+2 save vs Fear (Party), (Prot from Evil)
Amigail (35/35)
*******************************************************************
Amigail: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Cassandra: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Innis: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Kirzon: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Merelda: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Lililinda: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
As the group stands in front of the door, they wait wondering when the creature might finally appear.
Cinder returns back from his reconnaissance and indicates he has noticed no other holes for the huecuva to get through.
From inside several of you can hear the creature still speaking in some eldritch tongue.
Im moving it along so if you don't make an action I take it you are just waiting until otherwise indicated. Party's is UP!
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Merelda hisses back as Cinder lands on her left shoulder.
"I'm preaching intelligence! It is obviously a superior foe...who is now prepared for us! Probably layering on defensive spell upon defensive spell right now! We should retreat and return later!"
She then coughs and turns her head to spit up some bloody phlegm into the corner of the room.
Amigail Trentwell |
Amigail stands by the closed door, looking to Merelda and Innis for a final decision now that the wasp has returned from its scouting mission.
She's a follower more than a leader...and is wary about pissing Innis off again.
Innis |
"Very well Sister, we shall regain our composure elsewhere. Come." She turns heel and strides away making sure her defiant courage is unblemished and well noted.
So are i guess we head up stairs and rest in the reliquary's large chamber (unless you guys have other ideas or want to go further, might have to due to skeletor), can we get a alarm spell placed at the top of the C4 stairs or at the entrance of the reliquary if we decide to go further away?
One day Ami you will have your revenge just bide your time ;)
There was more to the upper reliquary map right or am i getting locales mixed up?
GM Aumakua |
The group heads off to the stairs ignoring the huecuva. Returning to the ground floor you do not hear nor see the creature pursuing you.
Rest time? If so are you setting up a watch and what room in the shrine above are you resting in?
Innis |
yea rest time, don't actually see the link for the shrine's main area but if possible could we possibly could we setup on the roof (we do have ropes excreta)? Else the entrance room would be fine i suppose(closet to outside)
Yes setting up a watch: Kirzon, => innis, lili => merry => Cass => Ami
GM Aumakua |
I think setting up on the roof of the shrine which is about 60 feet high might be a little much. Resting in the shrine where dwarven squire was laid to rest would be fine enough.
Innis |
right-o then
Innis calls forth a wave of positive energy as the group settles for their much demanded rest.
channel: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Innis |
Innis gently plays on her harp and hums a dark lullaby both beautiful and full of dread.
perform: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23.
Wolves asleep amidst the trees / Bats all swayin' in the breeze / But one soul lies anxious, wide awake / Fearing all manner of ghouls, hags and wraiths...
Her performance is great, almost enchanting. Her raw talent seems to greatly outweigh her lack of experience and training.
Amigail Trentwell |
Perhaps as an aftereffect from Innis's lullaby, Amigails has some disturbing, uncomfortable dreams before Cassandra wakes her for her watch shift. The young warrior woman is obviously distracted and does a rather poor job of keeping watch.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
GM Aumakua |
Sorry about the failure to get a post up. Here we go I'll just make the saves for you guys to speed up things. I'll be adding Kirzon's +4 heal bonus to the saves.
Saves vs Reaping Sickness DC20:
Amigail: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 4 = 12
Cassandra: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 4 = 23
Innis: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 4 = 27
Kirzon: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 4 = 14
Merelda: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 4 = 17
Lililinda: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Saves vs Necrotic Boils DC11:
Cassandra: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 4 = 22
The night while uneventful is wrought with pain as the Reaping Sickness wracks your body. Only Innis and Cassandra – maybe from the bond they have formed? – seem to escape its wrath.
Regardless you find the willpower to rise and to find the cure for this unnatural disease. Although time is definitely slipping away...
Where to next? All spells and abilities are restored
Amigail, Kirzon, Merelda, Lililinda all take -1 CON
***********************************************
CURRENT CONDITIONS:
Amigail = -2 CON (RS)
Cassandra = -2 CON (RS)
Innis= -2 CON (RS)
Kirzon = -2 CON (RS)
Merelda = -2 CON (RS)
Lililinda = -3 CON (RS)
(RS) = Reaping Sickness
PLEASE READ: There is a lot to track here so I apologize for jamming this post with all this information.
Currently this is the minus you should be at for CON due to the Reaping Sickness disease.
Everyone would have lost -1 CON upon contracting it initially. The original barroom fight everyone starts off with it (this includes Amigail). Cassandra got it later in a fight. I have created a spoiler under CAMPAIGN tab with the current conditions.
Innis |
While certainly unwell Innis does not feel worse when the team is ready to get moving she takes that as a small personal victory. She takes the time to read a war prayer to the group emboldening them for the trails ahead. Then uses the protective magics at her disposal to weave defenses.
"One of you sword-swinger's take the lead. As we learned during our last...excursion there's not but boorish trouble to be found. Assume a thick headed enemy around every corner." her words drip with contempt and frustration as this seemingly underground fortress minimizes her subtle arts.
everyone should be at full hp
Party: +2 save vs Fear (morale) | ∞
Innis,Boros,Lili +4 AC; Mage Armor | 11/23
lead character: +2 skills, ability, to hit
back to the Huecuvas lair?
Kirzon |
Kirzon made his first fort save against the disease. My understanding was he contracted it but didn't lose a point of CON. So he's just at -1 CON now. Otherwise, why did we make a fort save?
Boros Fort DC 20 reaping sickness: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 4 = 8 :( Boros is at -3 CON.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
@GM:
Also, I believe there is something Ghoulish I need to save for as well...?
Hopefully I saved for it FIRST before the other one.
Lililinda |
Lililinda wakes rested, yet somehow weaker than the day before. "Ugh. Let's be done with this."
Have I recovered any of my Wisdom damage?
