You spray the mite with a hundred colors but it only further annoys the creature. It seethes when it sees Lililinda and snaps it's whip her way.
ROUND 4
Whip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Confirm crit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + (3) + 2 = 11
Lililinda you scream in horror and nearly drop as this whip of living spiders lashes you as a hundred bites rip into your skin.
Lililinda please make a Fortitude check DC 11. Also you are now distracted for this round
The spider once again tries to break Boros hold on it. Failing to break free of Boros tight grip it resorts to biting Boros and is able to sink it's fangs into Boros.
Break grapple: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Spider attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Boros take 3 damage and a Fortitude check DC 14
Him, Nicias. Your Turn.

Him'Wazir nar Maekra |

"Lililinda get back! And you pick on someone larger than your own size you little blue toad!" Him calls, aiming a clumsy slash at the creature.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

![]() |

Stringing another arrow to his bow, Nicias draws and looses in a smooth practised motion, sending another arrow at the remaining mite.
Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 1 = 21 +1 for Point Blank Shot
damage if hits: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 1 = 10 +1 for Point Blank Shot

GM Aumakua |

You are correct. The spider would have tried to break grapple so disregard the bite attack
The arrow takes the mite squarely in the shoulder almost throwing him back into the water.
ROUND 5
With a hiss you watch the mite back off the edge and fall into the rushing water.
The remaining spider takes a bite at Boros.
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Him'Wazir nar Maekra |

Should I not get an aoo there? Seems he cannot be withdrawing if he is turning into a fish.
Him's blade dances out attempting to skewer his fleeing foe.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

GM Aumakua |

Boros will need to make a Fortitude check DC 14.

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

Still flanking with Kirzon, Merelda looks for the singular blow that might take out the spider. Merelda selects her stab carefully.
Attack MW Rapier: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 = 26

I don't know if Innis' +2 is still with me or not since we are on the same action basically?
"Eat steel vermin!"

Innis |

Buffs
Merry: +2 attack, skills and ability check rolls
Innis: Bit of Luck ; touch spell held
Innis skirts the perimeter of the room her attention still focused on Merelda and the over-sized spider that seems to possess a will to live that could shame greater beings.

Him'Wazir nar Maekra |

You cannot take a five foot step and then move, nor can you take a five foot step around a hard corner so you could not take one down into the water. If he takes a five foot into air and then falls that should provoke. Sorry to be being pedantic, but I really hate GM fiat escapes.

Kirzon |
Boros and Kirzon did not take their previous turn, as I was trying to figure out if Boros was still up. So...
Previous round
Boros continues to bite down on his prey, trying to take down the spider. Grapple: 1d20 + 4 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 5 = 22; Damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Kirzon tries to hit the spider with his axe. Attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 1 + 2 = 21; Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
Current round
If the spider is still up, its attack is enough to render Boros unconscious. He lets go of the spider. Fortitude save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16. Fortunately, he is not poisoned. Stabilize?: 1d20 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 - 1 = 10. He just barely manages to stabilize.
Kirzon tries to avenge his fallen companion. Attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 1 + 2 = 23; Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2;
Crit confirm?: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 2 = 7; Crit Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4. Kirzon misses a vital spot, but still does a bit of damage.

GM Aumakua |

Boros and Kirzon are able to kill the spider before it makes it's last attack. The spider dissipates into smoke going back to wherever it came from.
Him you swing your blade kill the fey dropping it before it can make it over the edge of the landing.

Kirzon |
Kirzon pants heavily, catching his breath after the vigor of combat. "Methinks we're goin' tha right way," he says, stowing his axe and giving Boros a pat for a job well done. Didn't expect ta run inta them spiders, though." Kirzon searches the bodies of the mites for clues about what's going on. Loot the bodies!

With yet another group of fey creatures vanquished Innis calls out to Him'Wazir "Be a dear and check the spell-caster for any interesting trinkets and bring them to me so that I might inspect them."
When she notices the horribly injured gnome who is veiled in countless spider bites she can't help but fight between a mixture of horror and amazement that the little lady can find it in herself to bleed from that many wounds at once.
When Him is finished his inspection Innis will call to the group and let them know that anyone injured should attend her.
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Him'Wazir nar Maekra |

"As you command Lady," Him responds bowing with a florish, and nearly toppling over in his weakened state. With a rueful smile he checks the mite for useful possessions.

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

Smirking at the Keleshite's sad send of humor, Merelda feels the hair on the back of her neck stand up as Innis
channels the power of their goddess to heal their friends.
Pushing aside a minor feeling of jealously towards Innis, Merelda moves to examine the dead spider the mite rode in on.
"Nicias? Kirzon? Can one of you extract some of this spider's venom? One of the creatures that attacked us above
used bolts coated with spider venom, and I thought we might try the same eventually if we have a little time.
We could use every advantage we can find down here."

GM Aumakua |

Rifling through the dead mites you are able to find the following:
1 gp, 10 sp, 43 cp
5 daggers
25 darts
On the spellcasting mite you find:
1 dagger
6 darts
2 small clay pots
2 small bags
holly and mistletoe
2 gems

Him'Wazir nar Maekra |

Him cautiously examines the pots sniffing at their contents, but he can get no clue as to their contents, "Anybody tell what these are, Lililinda can you identify them?"
Perception to Identify Potion 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Perception to Identify Potion 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

Looking at the small pile of treasure taken from the dead mites, Merelda grimaces.
"Yes, we can all now retire to a life free of want or need...Why do all the tales talk of grand treasures and enemies easily slain?
Someone remind me to punch the next bard I see."

![]() |

"Sorry, I don't know how to extract poisons. My father always forbade me to learn much about them. I can identify the potions, though."
Holding the potions carefully one by one up to the meagre light, he examines each one
craft(Alchemy) to identify potion1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
craft(Alchemy) to identify potion2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

Innis |

Innis smiles amused by Merelda's comment "Liar's all but they are such pretty lies.
As for our meager bounty I think that we should just collect whatever we can and worry about dividing this all when we leave this wretched place. Since we've no place in combat perhaps Lady Lili can hold on to whatever coins we find and I can store the gems; none however noble of heart should hold on to all the riches after all." Innis suggests.

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

Merelda shrugs.
"Fine. Unless we can suddenly buy something to make us healthy, I'm not really worried about who carries the gold at the moment."

GM Aumakua |

The pots reek of fermented vegetation as Him quickly passes them over to Nicias. The young alchemist takes the two clay pots and removes from his pack the tools of his trade quickly running battery of tests on he contents of the pots.
Finally nodding he smiles at you and indicates that the he is certain that one of the pots contain restorative draught that will help to cure physical and mental ailments.
While he cannot be sure given the smell and taste of the second pot he believes it is the same thing.
2 potions of lesser restoration

GM Aumakua |

Looking over the map it would seem that you should head west from this chamber until you can head north and then west again. The line on the map ends at a symbol of a double headed vulture.

GM Aumakua |

No the water is at steady level. it probably would only rise in a large rainfall or if the water from the sea or the marshland around Cassomir started flowing into the city.
Rest is possible here. The smell while bad is not something you are going to die from. Might be hard to eat for those with weak stomachs though.

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

This is a fairly defensible position witha little work, but I still would hesitate to rest here.
How much longer before we start taking penalties for lack of rest? Minutes? Hours?

Lililinda |

"Get them off! Get them off!" Lililinda dances around in a circle, scratching and rubbing at herself. The spiders are long gone, but she can still feel them crawling and biting. The sight of hundreds of spiders, all strung out in a line, holding each others legs as they swing toward her will be burned into her brain forever.

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

"Ya did good there, standin' up ta them mites. Definitely would make yer fellow gnomes proud."
Merelda smirks and chuckles as she readies her sword and crossbow to move on down the next passage.
"You know, technically, the Gnomes are distantly related to Gremlins in some manner. Their both of Fey origin."
Smiling at Lililinda, Merleda takes the sting off the off-hand comment.
"Gnomes are prettier by far however."

GM Aumakua |

Following Kirzon's directions you head west through this chamber then north and west again. As you head along the west tunnel Kirzon calls for a halt.
You watch as he turns and faces a section of the wall. As his hands slide against the wall he stops at some sludge about two feet off the ground and he begins to scrape it off. Hidden by the sludge you see a circular depression in the wall.
As Kirzon pushes the depression it causes this section of the wall to slide open revealing a small ten by ten room. The room is completely bare except for a old wooden staircase that heads up into darkness.

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

Whispering softly, Merelda nods into the room.
Is it just me? Or does that room look REALLY inviting.
Stepping softly, Merelda will advance into the room motioning for the others to wait, while she looks for traps and up
into the darkness of the stairwell. Her Ioun Torch is still fluttering around her head providing light to chase away the shadows,
and her rapier and crossbow are still at the ready.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
You can add Innis' +2 bonuses to those too possibly?

Him'Wazir nar Maekra |

Him follows some twenty feet behind Merelda, moving stealthily, not wishing to leave her without nearby assistance, but staggering slightly under his own weight in his weakened state.
Only really following if Merelda goes somewhere if she is just going into the room he stays outside.
Stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

GM Aumakua |

Merelda you scan the room and stairs, both appear to be free of any traps. From the bottom of the stairs your ioun torch reveals a long set of steep stairs that rise and run about forty feet before hitting the landing and disappearing into darkness.

Him'Wazir nar Maekra |

Him looks at the room thoughtfully, "Shutting that door should alleviate the smell, if you wish to rest this would seem as good a place as we are likely to find."

Kirzon |
"Lemme see if there be any tracks 'ere." Kirzon looks for tracks or signs of whether this area was recently trafficked. If there are signs of tracks, Kirzon wants to know who and what they might be facing. Survival, Guidance, Innis, Inspiration: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 1 + 2 + (3) = 30

GM Aumakua |

This area has been used recently but how long ago you are not sure. Due to the moisture in the air there is no dust build up here but instead you see partial boot prints left in the mud and dirt that is scattered about the stone floor.
Some of this mud you find on the stairs and from the looks of it they are heel prints which appear to be heading down the stairs. You see none that would appear to be heading up.

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

Merelda heads up the stairs for a look.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

GM Aumakua |

Heading up the stairs you make it to the landing which turns into a roughly carved out passage that continues on for ten feet before bending around a corner.
Does Mereleda proceed? I know Him is with you but what of the others do you want them to come with you or stay below? Since you are in the lead Merelda you get to make the decision

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

Merelda will proceed. She doesn't know if Innis can handle herself in a close-up confrontation and Merelda has taken very little damage so
far compared to Him, so she will slowly and carefully make her way forward around the corner, Rapier and Crossbow ready.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

GM Aumakua |

Merelda puts up a hand and directs Him and Innis to stay back while she goes to investigate. Moving around corner the tunnel bends a couple more times until it ends at a closed door. The door looks rather new from this side and you can see that it is reinforced.

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

Checking for traps still, she listens at the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

GM Aumakua |

The door does not appear to have any traps and pressing your ear to the door you hear nothing on the other side. The door does not seem to be locked or barred from the inside as you press against it.

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

In for a penny...in for a pound? Let's take a look, shall we?
Merelda puts her crossbow away. Snuffing out the Ioun torch (grabbing it and holding it in her now free hand)
Merelda tries to open the door as quietly as possible to get a glance at beyond without giving herself away immediately.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

GM Aumakua |

The door swings open stiffly into a room with a very low ceiling. This appears to be a neglected store room. The entire room is packed with piles of broken and damaged furniture, the remnants of shat-tered barrels and crates, jagged pieces of scrap metal, and miscellaneous other debris, some of which is piled all the way to the ceiling.

Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |

Merelda will glance around, find a piece of loose wedge-shaped scrap metal near the door, and bring
it back with her then close the door again.
Releasing the Ioun torch to let it float over her head, she will then wedge the door shut as best she can
with the piece of scrap metal.
I don't know if the door opens in or out, but her main reasoning is to slow down anyone trying to open
the door and force them to make plenty of noise to do it if nothing else.
Merelda will then head down and tell everyone what she's found.
"OK it seems safe here for now. There is a solid door up there that leads to some unused store-room...probably
near ground level or in somebody's deep basement. The room looks pretty fake to me. Just a way to hide in the open
the door that leads down here to the sewer entrance...which shouldn't be here. The junk up there is piled really
high too. Could be trapped to fall on someone trying to go through it is my guess. I wedged the door up there for
now to slow anybody down trying to open it, or at least make some noise."
Merelda, looking seriously bedraggled and tired, watches the group carefully.
"This is the safest, and least offensive, location I think we can expect to find to rest right now. I don't
know who owns the floors above...and with the decent design and excellent construction...I'm not sure I
want to know unless its absolutely necessary."
