Shadow Lodge

It is 10 rounds to put on heavy armor, 5 if someone helps you. Does this change your tactics?

Male Tiefling Zen Archer Monk

Seeing the horseman too far off to shoot with his bow, Wraith glances quickly at the stones in the trough to make sure they are in position. He looks back down to check that his companions are awake and arming themselves. This should be the 3rd round now?

Male Human Fighter

Eddric grabs his armor and runs up the ramp, "Mind strapping me in."

Shadow Lodge

I will wait to see how Anga and Thaegrin want to handle things. Audrey hears nothing so far and is still asleep.

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

Rubbing sleep from his eyes Anga rises from his bed. Ignoring his armor he grabs his weapons and walks sleepily over to where Audrey bedded down for the evening. Gently shaking her he waits till her eyes open then says "Come on, 's time to go." He yawns. "They're here."

Shuffling out the door he make his way up the ramparts. The night air does a bit for him and he wakes up considerably. Getting to the top, he asks, "So, do we know what we've got?"

Wraith merely looks at him. "I have no idea how that works. Have Oleg help you into it, I'm needed on the wall with my bow."

These men and their shiny coats of metal. If one would just train their body and become one with themselves, they would have no need for such fancy trinkets.

Male Feraweni Wizard 9

Thaegrin steps out the office at the clamor, thanking the fates that he'd risen early to prepare his spells.

SPELLS:

Cantrips
-Ray of Frost
-Daze
-Detect Magic
1st Level
-Burning Hands
-Color Spray
-Vanish (school slot)
-(bonded item slot)

Deducing the cause for the shouts and commotion, Thaegrin opens the canister containing a scroll. Unrolling the parchment, he mutters a brief incantation. Cyan fog seems to pour from the inscriptions onto his hands, and spread over his arms and shoulder. The vapor grows thinner, until it is transparent, quickly coating his entire body. His visage warbles a bit, as though standing behind heat waves.
Casts Mage Armor from scroll, + 4 armor bonus to AC
He lets the useless paper fall, and looks haughtily up to his companions on the battlements.
"Dammit knight! Am I the only one prepared for this altercation?"

Thaegrin hammers on the door to the Leventon's living quarters. "Oleg! Up! It is time to repay these vermin in kind!"

He calls to Eddric. "Come down. I will not help you into your armor while exposed on the wall."

Thaegrin will help Eddric get into his armor, but if the bandits break through too quick, he will stop to cast spells and grouse.

Male Human Fighter

Perfect example of why i need a squire or a slave

Male Human Fighter

"My gods, its much easier picking up a piece of paper then equip armor." The flustered Eddric follows Theagrin.

Oleg opens the door in the middle of sliding on his left boot.

"I thought I heard hoof beats."

He slams his foot into the shoe, takes up a weather beaten cross bow, and shuffles up the wall at what must be a trot for the old man.

Last round before they are at the walls (100 feet away now).

Oleg screams "Come then you sons of wolves!"

Crossbow at on of the bandits. 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 for 1d8 ⇒ 1

His bolt misses wide by a foot or so.

Shadow Lodge

Please tell me if you're attacking 1. the hobgoblin 2. a soldier or 3. a bandit ON EACH ROUND. If I am not sure who you are hitting, I will default you to the least armored enemy closest to you.

Male Tiefling Zen Archer Monk

Wraith furrows his brow. "A red sun rises, blood has been spilled this night." he murmurs as he flurries arrows toward the nearest bandit, dismissing the knight as he runs down to get clothed by the wizard.

Crunch:

While 200 ft out.
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 141d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Shadow Lodge

With two arrows, one to each lung, Wraith slays one of the bandits.

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

"Battle is it then? Ah well." The Half-Elf straightens to his full six foot ten and raises his hands over his head. Bellowing forth in the enraged voice of a sea captain, a little trick he learned from the sailors of Wakewill, he challenges the opposition. "WELL COME YOU COWARDS! COME YOU MOTHERLESS SONS OF WHORES! COME AND TASTE STEEL AND FLAME! COME, FOR THE DREAD PIRATE FACION IS HERE FOR YOUR SOUUUUUUUUULS!

Intimidate 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 (one standard action)

Taking a deep breath he launches back into his tirade. "I WAS BORN ON THE BLACKEST MIDNIGHT! THE WILDEST STORM WAS ME FATHER, THE KRAKEN ME NURSEMAID, AND IN THE HOLD OF A SINKING SHIP DID I DRAW ME FIRST BREATH! I'VE KILLED COUNTLESS MEN, BEDDED AS MANY WOMEN, AND DRUNK MORE THAN BOTH COMBINED! THE LION, AND THE BEAR I'VE SLAIN, WITH NOT BUT A SLING! AND SO TO SHALL YOU FALL BEFORE ME!

SO COME YOU INBRED SACKS OF FILTH! COME AND FACE YOUR DOOOOOM! YOUR LAST SIGHT WILL BE MY FACE, AND YOUR LAST SOUND MY NAME!" He draws air into his lungs till they nearly burst, then roars forth:

"ANGA... FACIOOOOONNNN!"

If you saw that, oooops.

Leaning back over the ramparts towards the fort he loudly whispers to Thaegrin, "Hey Elf, seems like we've got some local color up here, a bit of grand mumbo-jumbo wouldn't go amiss." Checking his crossbow, he readies if for when the enemy is in range.

Male Feraweni Wizard 9

Thaegrin sends a frowning glance at the half elf's display, but keeps his concentration on Eddic's armor.
"I don't have time to take part in your mummer's show," he replies, "Just keep them off the gate for as long as you can."

He emphasizes his frustration by jerking a buckle into place.

Helping someone into armor is a full round action, yes?

Shadow Lodge

yes.

The remaining 6 bandits and the hobgoblin loose a volley.

Attacks on Wraith:

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 for 1d8 ⇒ 4
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 for 1d8 ⇒ 6
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 for 1d8 ⇒ 1

Attacks on Anga:

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 for 1d8 ⇒ 1
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 for 1d8 ⇒ 7
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 for 1d8 ⇒ 1
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 for 1d8 ⇒ 4

Thanks to the protective cover of the wall, Anga is unharmed. Wraith takes an arrow just above the lung and narrowly escapes his death as he dodges a second arrow.

The enemy are now 50 feet from the walls. Your move guys. Eddric has 3 more rounds 'til armor is on.

Male Tiefling Zen Archer Monk

Wraith, gasping for air, kneels down out of sight behind the edge of the wall and fumbles at a pouch to his side and pulls out a potion and drinks it. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Male Feraweni Wizard 9

Thaegrin continues to assist the knight with his armor.

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

Wow none of them were affected by intimidate? Dang.

Anga takes aim and fires off his crossbow at the nearest bandit before duking behind cover again.

Lght Crossbow Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Lght Crossbow Dmg 1d8 ⇒ 7

Female Fetchling Oracle 1

Intimidate is single target within 30 feet

Audrey steps out of the guesthouse fully armored and ready for battle. She scans the area and sees the wizard aiding the knight. She bolts across the yard and motions for Thaegrin to join the battle, she'll take over from here. 2 more rounds Eddric.

Shadow Lodge

Most of the force hangs back at the 50 foot mark, while the two soldiers ride up on their enormous destriers. The reach the gate in the blink of an eye and urge their horses to break the gate.

Hoof Attacks from 2 horses.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

One of the horses seemed to do less damage than it simply placed its hoof on the gate. The other though hit the gate with a resounding crack and the door splintered a bit.

Male Human Fighter

Armor Donning is fun, although I don't even have a bow

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

Are the horsemen in perfect position to be hit by our acid and large rock trough?

Shadow Lodge

I made a derp. I forgot about your lovely pit trap.

The horses approach the gate and the ground begins to give way under them.

Reflex saves not to fall.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

One of the horses falls! His rider wildly dives off his mount to avoid the spikes himself.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

His foot is stuck in the stirrup and he goes down.

Damage to horse 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
Damage to the soldier 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4

Seeing that they won't be able to slam the gate directly, the second soldier motions to 2 more riders.

All three throw grapples to the gate.

Attack against AC 5
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

The grapples set and they prepare to pull down the gate.

Now it's your turn :P

Oleg roars and fires at a lightly armored bandit at the gate.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 for 1d10 ⇒ 10

Male Feraweni Wizard 9

Thaegrin climbs to the wall to assess the situation. Noting the fallen horsemen, and the ropes straining against the gate, he shakes his head as he moves above the gate. Once at its center, he extends a hand over the edge, his fingertips spread. A faint red light outlines his hand before welling in his down-turned palm. The coalesced light intensifies, and then blasts a cone of fire onto the ropes, and the trapped horse and rider.

Casts Burning Hands. Reflex save to half 1d4 ⇒ 2 fire damage. Targeting the rider, the grappling ropes, the horse, and anything else that falls into the 15 ft cone.

Male Tiefling Zen Archer Monk

Wiping the blood from his now healed wound, Wraith turns and fires off a single arrow at the soldier in the pit.

crunch:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 141d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

"Now we're cooking!" Anga lets out a whoop reloads his crossbow and fires at bandit Oleg fired at.

Rope (It's an attended object) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

1 rope takes 2 damage. Everything else takes 1

Shadow Lodge

Wraith's arrow goes wide. Anga's strikes a bandit in the throat and brings him down.

Shadow Lodge

Seeing the bandit fall from his horse, the soldier nearest the bandit's animal attempts to grab hold of it and keep it pulling at the gate.

Reflex Save 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Handle Animal 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

The soldier fails to take hold of or lead the animal, so he and the remaining bandit spur their horses hard.

Strength checks for the horses to pull down the gate.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
12/20 hit points left on the gate

The gate creaks and splinters as the horses begin to add momentum.

Five bandits and the hobgoblin fire their bows to cover the gate-crashers.

Attacks on Anga:

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 for 1d8 ⇒ 4
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 for 1d8 ⇒ 6

Attacks on Oleg:

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 for 1d8 ⇒ 3

Attacks on Wraith:

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 for 1d8 ⇒ 6

Attacks on Thaegrin:

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 for 1d8 ⇒ 5

A bandit buries an arrow deep in Anga's gut. 6 damage
Oleg takes an arrow to the knee. 3 damage

Audrey rushes up to the battlements and yanks the arrow out of Anga's stomach with one hand and presses her other, spell-charged, hand against the wound. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 healing

Eddric is now armored and free to act.

Male Feraweni Wizard 9

"Eddric! Find a glaive, or a halberd! Try to cut the ropes from the wall."

Thaegrin flicks a hand out toward the mounted soldier, and a thin, silver beam flashes directly toward the face of the foe.
Shimmering Ray: The ray causes creatures to be blinded for 1 round. Creatures with more HD than your wizard level are dazzled for 1 round instead.
Ranged touch attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

Anga stumbles backward as the arrow catches him. Reeling from the pain he grunts as Audrey pulls it out and attempts to close the wound. "My thanks" He mumbles as he reloads his crossbow. Noting that Eddric is now in the fight he climbs down and tosses him his crossbow and bolts before he begins to hastily don his armor. "I assume you know how to use this." He calls out as he tries to shimmy into his chain shirt.

Two move actions?

Shadow Lodge

I made a mistake. To don Eddric's armor WITH help should have taken 20 rounds. Alone, Anga will need 10 rounds to put his armor on, with help he'll need 5. For this fight, Anga, just take a full round action.

Sleeping in light armor is ALWAYS a good idea. Anga, there is no mechanical reason for you to take your armor off. Now, for role play, it is fun and will not stop you from making that choice. The same is true for you Eddric, you may choose to sleep in light armor to be better in a surprise fight or not. I would HIGHLY recommend it though since getting you into your armor as fast as possible would put 2 party members out of commission for 20 rounds.

Thaegrin's spell just misses the soldier.

Male Tiefling Zen Archer Monk

Wraith curses as his arrow goes wide and the gates creak with the combined might of the horses.

Perception check to see if the trough is as wide as the gate 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Shadow Lodge

I do not require perception checks to see obvious things, especially if you know of both. I'm not sure why you are asking, but the gate is about 6" wide and the trough is at least 2.5 feet wide to accommodate the cauldron.

Male Tiefling Zen Archer Monk

Wraith pulls out an acid flask and drops it on top of the ropes.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 61d6 ⇒ 5

Male Feraweni Wizard 9

Thaegrin made the trough as wide as the gate.

Shadow Lodge

The ropes snap and the soldier and horse are doused in acid!

Everyone but Wraith still has an action. Thaegrin, the trough would have to be wide enough to hold the cauldron. The gate is more narrow than that.

Male Human Fighter

Now Armored Eddric moves to the battlements sword in hand. "Keep FIRING LADS!" Eddric moves up and yells, "End this now, we will stop you! Lay down your arms, and join us!"

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

Shadow Lodge

See discussion. Diplomacy cannot be used in combat. Eddric would you like to change your action? Intimidate is a combat option, especially when used to demoralize. However, it could be used to attain a surrender, but note that it lasts 1d6x10 minutes whereupon the target becomes unfriendly.

Male Human Fighter

Ya after having some kick ass friendliness, Eddric is gonna shoot the crossbow at the hobgoblin.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
1d8 ⇒ 4

Shadow Lodge

:P

Seeing that they cannot easily breach the gate, the enemy force retreats Run - 250 feet.

Male Tiefling Zen Archer Monk

Wraith hollered over to the finally clothed knight. "Eddric! Open the gate and capture that soldier in the pit! We need information from him. You spent all that time donning your armor, go put it to good use."

Male Human Fighter

Sarcastically Eddric replies,"I was leading!"

After trotting to the gate and opening it, he looks at the downed man. "Aye your probably about to die. I am no healer, so I may not be the best of judge. Are you going to be a good little prisoner and talk or one of those stone faced I like to melt away till death warheroes. I'll give you a guess as to which one gets saved by my very lovely little cleric." He kneels next to the downed solider and checks his vitals.

Male Half-Feraweni Rogue HP: 69/69 AC: 27

Anga struggles into his chain shirt stumbling over his own feet and bleeding from the gut.

Male Feraweni Wizard 9

Climbing down from the wall, Thaegrin watches the knight approach the trapped soldier. He nods to Wraith's command.
"Yes. Bind him first. There may be some fight left in him. Bring him inside."

Brushing off his robes, he grouses, "Well, that was much less challenging than I'd hoped. But we surely have not seen the last of them, let us not forget to make repairs before they return."

Is the horse in the pit dead? Eddric just might have found a replacement...

Shadow Lodge

The horse is not dead, but it is badly wounded.

The prisoner blinks and sighs heavily, "Just get me outta here and we can talk."
