Reposting initiative:
Wolf 2--22+
Yessai--22-
Mundarion--20
Hozela--18
Humanoid--14
Wolf 1--12
De--7
Gemheart--4
Gemheart pounds on the nearest wolf, causing it to let forth a howl of pain. It's still alive, but not by much...
The second wolf bites again at Mundarion:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
natural 1 reroll: 1d20 - 13 ⇒ (8) - 13 = -5
but misses wildly, gnawing furiously at the air.
Yessai's turn again.
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai |
Yessai sees her allies wearing down their oposition. Still, the humanoid still represents a significant threat. Armoring herself against enchantments, the githyanki swings again at the beast that bit her...
Swift Action: Enact terror pool - +2 to saves vs spells, SLAs and hexes for three rounds. 1 point from Terror Pool.
Standard Action: Attack!
Shnirr!!!: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 - 1 = 15 [+3 BAB, +1 Str, +1 enchantment, -2 Large, -1 fatigued] [-2 to beasts AC from stricken inimica]
Skatch!!!: 2d8 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (5, 3) + 1 + 1 + 2 - 1 = 11 [+1 Str, +1 enchantment, +2 terror pool, -1 fatigued]
1 round remaining of terror pool buff to damage. Terror pool points remaining 2/5[/dice]
Deranged_Maniac_Ben |
Mundarion misses.
Hozela turns around and releases a barrage of force missiles at the first wolf:
magic missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 4, 4) + 3 = 15
The creature lets forth a final howl, which increases in pitch. The energy surrounding the wolf floats into the air, and the eater of knowledge twists in pain. Finally all its alterations are gone, and an ordinary wolf remains, which promptly dissolves into dust.
W1 is down...
The humanoid, whatever it is, holds out its clawed, gnarly hands. With a crackle, its claws detach themselves from its hands and shoot out towards De'arv'ki!
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
2d4 + 1 ⇒ (2, 2) + 1 = 5
The map has been updated.
De'arv'ki's turn.
De'arv'ki Paddfoot |
De'Arv'Ki hisses loudly in pain, baring her slight fangs at the creature, before dropping down from the wall and vanishing again, drawing her wyroot katana as she does.
Standard action: Change weapons
Move action: Drop down and behind the humanoid
Swift action: Vanishing trick
Ki points: 0/4
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai |
Which wolf have I been attacking? W1 that is now gone, or W2? Did I hit it last round? I would have hit AC 17...
Regardless
Yes sees one enemy fall, and hacks at the last remain wolfed creature...
Standard Action: Attack!
Schwarr!!: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 - 1 = 16 [+3 BAB, +1 Str, +1 enchantment, -2 Large, -1 fatigued] [-2 to beasts AC from stricken inimica]
Skatch!!!: 2d8 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (6, 8) + 1 + 1 + 2 - 1 = 17 [+1 Str, +1 enchantment, +2 terror pool, -1 fatigued]
1 round remaining of terror pool buff saves. Terror pool points remaining 2/5
Deranged_Maniac_Ben |
Which wolf have I been attacking? W1 that is now gone, or W2? Did I hit it last round? I would have hit AC 17...
You had said you were attacking W2 previously, so that is what I assumed. Huh, somehow I forgot to count your hit from last round...
Yessai strikes the second wolf, which howls in pain, and pants from exhaustion.De'arv'ki drops down, and Gemheart runs forwards.
The remaining wolf makes a desperate final gnash at Yessai:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
but to no effect.
Yessai slashes it again, causing the second wolf to collapse, twist, and dissolve the same as the first.
Both wolves are now out of the fight.
Hozela fires at the humanoid with another round of magic missiles at the humanoid
3d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3, 1) + 4 = 11
It is still standing, though heavily wounded.
"No, I cannot end this way!"
It hisses, while its claws spontaneously regrow, then detach themselves and fire again, this time at Gemheart:
ranged claws: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
But to no effect.
The map has been updated. It is back to De'arv'ki's turn.
De'arv'ki Paddfoot |
De'arv'ki stabs her blade at the back of the foul creature, snarling as she does.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Dear. Lord.
I'm having a fail this battle >_<
Deranged_Maniac_Ben |
As Gemheart stabs the creature, it cries out in pain
"My end...all my knowledge is lost to you!" Much like the wolves, an aura of dark energy pulls itself up from the humanoid, causing him to contort in pain. Finally it evaporates completely, leaving behind the corpse of an ordinary catfolk, which subsequently disintegrates into dust.
The combat is over.
When the dust settles, Vyrellis speaks up.
"Strange, I hast thought to find the next piece of mine life energy in yon statue, but it is not hither. Someone else must hath taken it from its place in my statue. I would to know who, and whence it was brought, but methinks that mayest need to wait."
but most consist entirely of blank pages! The Eaters of Knowledge have devoured the books' contents.
By searching hard enough, though, you can find several books which are mostly intact, including:
Organic Oozing--which appears to be a cookbook for recipes with Oozes as ingredients.
A book written in Elven:
In Giant:
There are also twelve different magic scrolls of different strengths and results of spellcraft checks will be put in another post.
Gemheart |
if you mean Search, as in the INT-based skill, then here is a Search roll. If you meant Perception, then take the unmodified dice value (untrained and no WIS mod, but the +3 represents my INT mod if you meant Search and not Perception)
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
EDIT: didnt matter anyway. at best, maybe I could aid someone with that roll
De'arv'ki Paddfoot |
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
De'Arv'Ki takes the cook book and starts flipping through it curiously, muttering quietly to herself about the different recipes, making note of different ones.
Deranged_Maniac_Ben |
Hozela's perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
The dragonborn seems oblivious to the groups' findings...
The "In Giant" spoiler is empty...[/iooc]
[ooc]Dang, that's the fourth (ish) time that bug has happened. And there's no way I know of to 'retrieve' the text that is inside the unopenable spoiler without editing the post, which I can't do since it's been more than an hour.
At least it wasn't too long...It said something like
Do you want me to make a dozen spellcraft rolls for the scrolls?
Huh, for some reason I thought you had had Read Magic prepared, but apparently you don't.

Vassekh-Arokh Yessai |
"Hmm, scrolls?" mutters Yessai.
She peruses them, handing each to Mundarion in turn, able to identify all but the last three scrolls:
Scroll 1:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Scroll 2:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Scroll 3:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Scroll 4:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Scroll 5:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Scroll 6:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Scroll 7:

Scroll 8:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Scroll 9:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Scroll 10:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Scroll 11:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Scroll 12:
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Gemheart |
Last 3 scrolls:
spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 vs DC 22
spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 vs DC 24
spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 vs DC 24
Gemheart is no help for the scrolls. though his roll as an assist could give Yessai the answer for the second-to-last scroll, and Yessai's roll as an assist could give Gemheart the answer for the third-to-last scroll.
De'arv'ki Paddfoot |
De'Arv'Ki tucks the cook book into her bag, keeping her katana drawn but hanging at her side, glancing at the runes on the forth scroll curiously, flicking her ears and tail about.
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Deranged_Maniac_Ben |
The group has little difficulty getting up the ladders, which are strong enough to hold Gemheart. At the northern wall on top of the bookshelves, the small passageway leads to a chamber with a granite tiled floor.
A stone angel, its wings folded around its body, stands on an ornate pedestal. A gleaming symbol of Boccob is cradled in its hands, its eye gazing directly at you. An L-shaped table and a heavy cabinet stand against the opposite wall, with a closed door between them and another door stands to the left.
More shelves of books line these walls, although they are not as high or numerous as the lower room.
Two other small chambers lie to the north and west of this one, each passed a medium sized doorway (without doors).
On the base of the statue lies an inscription which reads
stars.
I updated the map: you would be entering the chamber via the entrance at I-J 13. The dark blue is the statue, and the white in the northwest corner is an area you can't see from where you are.
When you approach the chamber, the Head of Vyrellis whispers in a hushed tone
"Something powerful doth lie dormant here. I can feel its energy pulsating. I knoweth not what, or whom."
Deranged_Maniac_Ben |
"Where? I canst be certain, for it doth come from all around this chamber. Possibly the northwest."
Deranged_Maniac_Ben |
As Mundarion steps forwards, a blast of energy is emitted from the statue.
RINGRINGRINGRINGRINGRINGRINGRINGRING!
The minds of everyone in the room are bombarded for 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4, and dazed
(DC 15 Will save to avoid being dazed. If you are dazed, you get another save on each subsequent round to end the effect.)
A trio of creatures appears--two to the west and one to the north. These creatures resemble panthers, but they are distorted Eaters of Knowledge like the wolves you fought below.
Gemheart Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 6

Panther 2 initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

H8
will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 +2 vs disease, mind-affecting, poison, exhaustion, fatigue, fear
Stalwart: As long as the aegis is wearing the astral suit,if the aegis is subjected to an attack that normally allows a Fortitude or Will save for a reduced or partial effect, he ignores the effect if he makes a successful saving throw. The aegis must be at least 2nd level before selecting this customization.
De'arv'ki Paddfoot |
I'd probably be near the rear of the party, so J9 for me.
Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Oh my goodness, my cat's running out of her nine lives >_<
Deranged_Maniac_Ben |
One panther runs towards Gemheart, leaping into a pounce before biting and clawing at him.
bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
As it bites Gemheart, its teeth clamp down into a grapple
grab: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 to no avail.
claw 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
claw 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
both its claws have no impact on the forgeborn.
The second panther's eyes glow, and it abruptly vanishes, reappearing right behind Hozela and De'arv'ki!
The final panther pounces towards Mundarion:
bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
As it bites at the elf, its teeth clamp down into a grapple
grab: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Mundarion is pushed to the ground by the corrupted cat!
Even as it holds Mundarion down, the panther continues to claw at him:
claw 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
claw 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
though to no effect.
The map has been updated.
Yessai's turn.
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai |
Yessai sees the panther push 'Darion down, and another appear nearby. Torn by indecision, the githyanki ensorcels her fell blade, then moves to the south to better combat the surrounded creature.
"Dee - help 'Darion!!!

but the creature is momentarily disoriented from its teleportation and so makes no attack.
Yessai strikes the creature directly in a joint, mortally wounding it! The panther contorts itself in pain, and coughs up black and red mist. It is enveloped in red fog for a few moments before the fog dissipates, leaving behind the corpse of an ordinary panther, which subsequently turns to dust.
But Yessai is still dazed, so she cannot move or attack.
Yessai can try to shake off the daze effect again DC 15 will save, but even then she won't be able to act until next round.
Next is Mundarion, who is also dazed. What happens after that depends on who is still dazed, so I'll wait until both Yessai and Mundarion roll their saves.
