Abraxi frowns. "Should we go back over the areas we have been, to try and find the missing pieces?"

Wembly nods quickly

"Yep. Great idea. We can check quickly for anything weve missed then head back upstairs."

"I don't like our odds of finding anything else in this mess. I think time is more of the essence here, no matter how beautiful the poetry."

Well, there is one more spot where you haven't been: the scriptorium.

You head back to the upper level, pass the lobby, and climb the stairs to the scriptorium. The stairs end in front of a door.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 9

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Perception : 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 wembly peers at the door with interest.

"Hey! Check this out...a wire...maybe a trap?"

Abraxi's raises an eyebrow at Wembly's discovery, then moves closer to examine it.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Frowning, he takes more time to examine the wire.

Is it a trap? T20 perception: 20 + 7 = 27

If he believes it is a trap, Abraxi will try to disable it.

Disable: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

"What's this? Traps? Wires? We have no time for wires! We need poetry and motion!" Raul declares without the least bit of irony.

"We need poetry and motion!"

Antonella turns her tender eyes back to the overflow. "As deep as any ocean."

"As sweet as any harmony."

Abraxi doesn't know where the wire is connected to, but he can disable the trap easily.

Abraxi stands up, and puts away his tools. "Done." He states, then motions toward the door. "Ready"

He then opens the door.

A large room dedicated to copying texts occupies the space above the lobby, and it tends to see far more use than the adjoining archives. Its 20-foot-high coffered ceiling bears an elaborate mural with stylized representations of ten long-dead gnome priests of Desna. Everburning torches light the room.

This large chamber is crammed with desks and lecterns designed for copying scrolls and manuscripts. Along the north wall, a tall, broad shelf sags with sheaves of parchment, while near the exit to the south, a stack of ceramic ink jugs stands near wall-mounted racks of quills. Two bays of windows on the west wall offer an impressive view of the Lodge’s greatest landmark, Skyreach Tower, while the eastern windows overlook the library’s main stacks.

Kreighton Shaine sits at one of the desks, reading texts. A crocodile lurks next to him. Kreighton Shaine looks at you and asks "Did you finish your mission? Did the flooding stop?"

Ticlo approaches Kreighton Shaine, and pokes him.

"What are you doing to that man, you strange Tickler?"

"Checking to see if it really was Mr. Shaine. Seems to be. Sorry, sir. What did you do with Virml? He was a kitsune in disguise; we found the real Virml downstairs."

"Are you mad? You can't just go around poking fellows! And what is this blathering to this man when there's illusions and such about? Have some sense, man! Why, this is none other than--" Raul slaps his hand on the shoulder of the man to proudly declare,

"Would you please stop shouting!? This is a scriptorium and not an inn in the Puddles! And what's wrong with you? Why are you poking me? Virml finished his work and I sent him back to the other recruits. I think you need a break, Virml can't be downstairs at the same time he's upstairs. " Kreighton Shaine answers.

While Ticlo thinks the man at the desk is the real Master of Scrolls, Raul thinks he's not. The man's hair color is slightly different and a birthmark is on the left hand instead of right.

"--An imposter! And I am not shouting, you shameless charlatan! Enough of this charade!"

"Who are you really?"

Abraxi looks back and forth between Raul and Shaine, trying to focus on the imposter.

"Uh, sir, can we have those pieces of paper? We need them to stop the flooding."

Sihir takes in the room with his arcane sight - and tries to take a very good look at "Kreighton" when Raul sounds his alarm.

Antonella smiles at the nearby crocodile. “Oh, I see you’ve let Dundee out of his pen, Master of Scrolls.”

“Really?” The contrary cleric arches an eyebrow and tests Raul’s theory.

"Actually, it seems that you can. And what's more ... I'm almost certain *GASP* this gentleman is NOT VC Shaine!"

"Do you recognise him, Wembly?" Antonella clenches her fists. "Could it be Aram Zey trying to trick us like that Virmyl kitsune did before?"

Wembly will move up at Antonella's suggestion.

He will try to shake the man's hand with respect.

Um, good to meet you...whomever you are."

Sooner or later you all recognize that it's not Shaine and the 'person' in front of you gets very angry. "Stop! Don't touch anything!" he shouts "No one shall catch me who can’t catch my name!" He attempts to flee.

"Dogpile!"

AoO to trip?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

I provoke.

"I would say you have already been caught, dogcat!" Abraxi bellows as he moves to threaten the man.

Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

"You are 'Caught', Brother." The paladin is appalled at the man's Shaineful behavior.

Intimidate to demoralize: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

"Oh, and I believe it would be a foxpile, Ticlo."

Raul prepares to engage the crocodile, should it come to that. "Get the door!"
Readied: Power Attack if crocodile becomes aggressive.

When hearing 'Caught' twice the kitsune looks a bit shocked. Ticlo tries to stop him with a bodycheck but the kitsune tries to strike back before he goes down. "Hehe, you know my name, but you don't know how to get me back into the prison."
he has no weapon drawn so he uses an unarmed strike

Unless he has IUS, I get an AoO for that (but kitsunes have a bite attack, if that's what he is). And yes, I have Combat Reflexes.

Ticlo takes a minor hit, but tries to grapple the (surely prone) creature.

That provokes too.

Ticlo gets the kitsune down, but he's not able to grapple him. he forgoes the Aoo, not sure if he gets one if he's prone

We're in a candlelit study, right? So I'm assuming that qualifies as dim light conditions? I cast Tenebrous shadow anchor on Caught. The Will DC is 23 and it will last for 6 rounds and has a CMD of 20 (but subtract 1 from all those figures if this isn't darkness or dim light).

There are two windows and everburning torches, so I'd say it's normal light

Sihir casts a spell and the kitsune bard is attached to his shadow. The croc waits for orders.

Antonella shifts 15' next to the kitsune and attempts to propel the heel of her open palm into the creature's jaw.

Antonella hits the foxy guy on the head with her palm. The fox smiles and says something in Sylvan to the crocodile. Then he whispers some words while looking at Ticlo. casting

The crocodile moves closer, shifting aside desks and toppling chairs. It opens its mouth and tries to bite Raul. Instead of Raul the animal bites a chair. only 5 ft. reach

Seeing the dogcat somewhat subdued, Abraxi darts forward, swinging his axe at the croc.

Ticlo starts to laugh like crazy. He holds his stomach and rops to the floor and continues to laugh. hideous laughter
"How does that feel?" the kitsune asks gleefully.

Abraxi swings his axe at the crocodile and hits. Blood and a few teeth drop to the floor.

FYI, I'm not helpless, just can't take any actions. But I can spend my turn making a second save to snap out of it; if I fail, then I'm stuck for the whole 7 rounds. I'll go ahead and roll.

Ticlo's rage manages to overcome his mirth, and his eyes flare with anger!

Full-round action on my turn to make another save. Free action to go into rage for that sweet, sweet +2 to Will saves!

Raul swings at the crocodile with terrible fury. "For the glory!"

Wembly, seeing the fight about out of the fox and croc, decides to recover the letter from the desk for safe keeping.

He will move to avoid reach of both and pick up the letter and stay away from the combat, calling Whiskers to ready/guard him.

Raul swings at the crocodile and creates a big laceration on the crocodile's head. Wembly gets another piece of the scroll from the desk. added the piece to the list Ticlo manages to snap out of the influence of the spell and stops laughing.

Sihir steps back and unleashes an incredibly intense barrage of scintillating light and darkness on the fox, the crocodile, and regrettably, the priest.

That is a DC 20 Persistent color spray - sorry to have to rope you into it, Raul. I guess the 3 of you will now have a shared hallucination of walking into a bar together....

If Caught makes his saves, Antonella continues *ahem* whaling on him.

If he falls unconscious or becomes otherwise helpless, she will produce some rope from her pack to bind him.

So I have to make two saving throws, one of them has to be successful

Caught looks directly into the rainbow spray. Antonella continues to smack the kitsune. The bard has several bruises in his face, but he does not drop unconscious.

He can't take any actions and is prone, I think a successful grapple check and a binding trick should end the combat.

The crocodile tries to take a bit out of Raul, but he has to wait a little longer to get dinner.

Did the crocodile need to make a Will Save as well?

Yes he did - and it's not that one of them has to be successful, BOTH of them have to be.
