A nighttime raid to a place that's already naturally dark, with no dark-vision available to the group ... sounds interesting.

DM question: My Psicrystal is considered sighted, which under the Psicrystal entry on the d20pfsrd for Pathfinder says: "Although it has no physical sensory organs, a psicrystal can telepathically sense its environment as well as a creature with normal vision and hearing. Darkness (even supernatural darkness) is irrelevant, as are areas of supernatural silence, though a psicrystal still can’t discern invisible or ethereal beings. A psicrystal’s sighted range is 40 feet." - That part about darkness being irrelevant - Since we have a Telepathic link, which is described as: "The owner has a telepathic link with his psicrystal out to a distance of up to 1 mile. The owner cannot see through the psicrystal’s senses, but the two of them can communicate telepathically as if the psicrystal were the target of a mindlink power manifested by the owner. For instance, a psicrystal placed in a distant room could relay the activities occurring in that room. Because of the telepathic link between a psicrystal and its owner, the owner has the same connection to an item or place that the psicrystal does. For instance, if his psicrystal has seen a room, the owner can teleport into that room as if he has seen it too." - So, I can't see through it's senses, but I could teleport into a room as if I had seen it? So, If I decide to go to the mine, will my Psicrystal be able to guide me through the darkness? - sorry for the length of this.

It would kind of work.

There are a lot of limitations. For instance, if the psicrystal saw a monster it would need to relay a series of information to you. There would be a lag if you will.

Imagine you are blindfolded and a person who isn't is giving you information.

Hahaha! That was funny to watch! At work I can't hear it. But that is about how I imagined this would work, just wanted to get the DM's viewpoint of it & that video certainly told me what you think! So ... doing this could be dangerous & the potential for falling off cliffs or into pits is rather high. Maybe we could find some torches?
- Now I'm just talking out loud so to say, voicing my thoughts to anybody who reads this - But what if it is the dust or rocks in the mine that cause this apathy? Would we not be affected then & fall under this 'curse'? I'm really not sure about what to do. And I'm guessing the entrance to the mine will still be guarded at night, so how are we - or Neils - planning to gain entrance to the mine?

Just wanted to say that after some cyberstalking All good GMs should by the way it seems that Burnscar aka Vara has been offline for almost 2 weeks. For the time being I am going to put her in permanent delay and we shall carry on as if Vara is not there.

If Vara is indeed 'gone' we can either move forward with a GM adjustment for a smaller party, or I could throw in a request for a 4th player. Think it over, no decisions until the next week or so.

I'm fine either way, recruit or adjust, whatever you as the DM feel most comfortable with.

AS far as where to go to w/Squirm, I'm not sure. Squirm mentioned the church? If we go there then I would suggest then following the road on over to the Quarry? - bldg. # 3. Or squirm also mentioned the colony, we could go by bldg. # 6 - the general store. Where say you Squirm?

Basically I intend for us to ask at EVERY location until we either find all 3 people I'm looking for, or have received no answers at all locations or some event or answer causes me to change my plans. Or evening comes upon us. I do intend to walk quickly between each destination, not slowly or dilly-dallying wasting time. Anybody who observes me walking between locations will more than likely realize I am on a mission.

ok, I'm back. My supervisor at work has caught me a few times on this or other websights & kept 'reminding' me that I'm not allowed to do non-work related stuff on the computer. Yesterday she finally told me that if she caught me again she would have to do something about it, which could mean me losing my job. So, now I can't get on here during the day & I don't usually get home 'til about 10 pm. I will still check in every night & post, but this is why you won't see me as much regrettably.

I won't. This PBP we are slow enough that it shouldn't be a big deal. The main issue is the other PBP I'm in. Such a HUGE diff between the two! Granted the other one has 7 players, but it started about the same time this one did and we are at 1,197 posts in the discussion tab & 571 in the game-play! And we just did finish our first encounter. That one 2 of the other players post frequently throughout the day, and me not being there is going to delay things.

Probably by either being out of range of the light or covering our eyes momentarily. I dont think its that much of a problem.

Its AoE is only 30 ft, so it should be more than fine. I'd like Christaph to throw them - it's only against AC 5 so there's no problem there - that way I'll still have my turn to act.

Our real concern should how we are going to be sneaking up in the first place. Between the three of us we have exactly 0 ranks of stealth. I'm open to suggestions on that front.

Well Squirm is little and a good bluffer, I just walk up, making up some balderdash on the way and then pop the flask point blank, you can scoop me up on the way in, I'll try closing my eyes and everything!

My worry is that the flask only last for a couple of rounds at best, what stops them raising hell once we're in, are we tying them up?

So Neils was already planning to incapacitate them. I would reccomend tying them up, gagging them, & hiding them out of sight somewhere? And perhaps we should make sure all this happens right after a guard shift change so that there won't be anyone else coming anytime soon hopefully?

Once you open the gates to the mine, you are free to enter. Some procedures for how this will work.

First, the Tactical is updated for the whole mine; second I need a 'marching order'. I need to know who goes in first and who is in the rear.

Here are the universal crawl rules I use:
So we have a crawl (dungeon, house, castle, manor to name a few I have run/played in)- to me the most challenging aspect of PbP. I am going to outline the procedures. Feel free to offer suggestions or feedback. Just don't be mean. I am sensitive and prone to fits of crying.

  • Most important - you lead the way. Once two or more agree on a course of action move yourselves and delete the spoiler on the map.
  • For all traps and evil things I will roll for you assuming that you are actively looking for these types of things. As I have stated I am not a punitive GM. That said, you might fail a roll or two. If you want to aid the primary 'Perception' state that in your SOP.
  • If you have something special that you'd like me to do every time you walk into a new room, let me know. We call this a SOP (standard operating procedure) i.e I cast Guidance on Warpac. Sometimes we will be in rounds and that can't happen. Say one action a character.
  • It only makes sense that you have a weapon drawn so please declare which one you have.
  • Some rooms/scenes will call for specific actions - like read the book you found in the desk. For these special situations, I will prompt you by asking 'Please describe what you are going' or 'Do you read the book?'
  • As Painlord says keep pushing.

Hopefully this will keep the action up and we can slog through this with maximum enjoyment.

My suggested marching order would be Squirm≥Cristaph≥Neils. Neils at the front. Squirm has some melee ability and a passable AC. Oh and a light!

EDIT: Never mind, I just checked all the character sheets & no one else has Disable Device. I also noticed the one bringing up the rear (Squirm) has the highest AC! 18 vrs Neils & I 14

Finally got on a PC, I've put lines on the tactical map to signify Squirm's moves over the last 3 rounds (broken lines mean positions at round ends)
