Everyone know's not to split... but we love doing it anyway! ...makes things interesting...
I fully agree! Hahaha!

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

I'm curious? Who's Burnscar? I take it that's Vara?

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

Question Master Bob: Your posts says "less than 2500". Do you mean it is available as long as it is less than 2500?
I hope so since between the two of us we might only have a little over 200!

GM_TheBobJones |

You cannot buy an item whose base worth is more than 500gp and a total transaction more than 2500 gp in Jace's Stanchion even if you had the money to do so.
An item worth 500 would cost you 1250 gp so you could buy 2 if you had the money.

Dolok Pickering |

And please pardon my ignorance! One more question, what is CRB or UP?

Vara. |

CRB traditionally stands for 'Core Rulebook'.
UP is Ultimate Psionics.

Yes

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

Thanks! Abbreviations just kill me!

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

Am I doing my math right? Potions of healing (Cure Light) would cost 125 GP?

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

This is if I'm correct - Neils? Since your with me what say you? I'm willing to put in 65 if you'll put in 60 GP to buy 1 potion, with the understanding that it gets used by whoever is the nearest to death if that seems acceptable? And remember I still have one potion on my character that the Caravan guards gave us.

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

You now have 1 CureLightWounds potion, or CLW as we say.
Hahaha! I'm positive that clarification was for me as I said the abbreviations kill me! I appreciate it!

Posting rates and types
So we are in the Sandbox phase where even the best PbPers can slow down. This is just a reminder that posting guidelines are a post every day, and please make sure your post is Moving the Game Forward. See Painlord's guide, which I have linked, for more information on that.
Another reason why no one is rolling skills like Diplomacy, is in a Real Life group there is always a face character with high social skills (Roll) or a person who is just a natural at acting (Role) who takes the lead.
In PbP with no reliance on skills, this is everyone's opportunity to be the face character.
Sorry about all the italics.
Next week for those of us who live in the US is Thanksgiving, the greatest holiday ever. I will post a modified posting schedule on Sunday so everyone is aware.
Keep up the good work; you are all doing so great!

Im following what is happening but I really have nothing constructive to add. There's nothing I'm really curious about

I will try to make the sotry more interesting. Challenge accepted!

Neils D. Lafont |

It's not like that, trust me. I'm just not very good at mysteries IRL is all.

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

I'm sorry If I don't post as often as you like, but honestly I'm at something of a loss as to what to do other than trying to gather info around the town. I can post frequently when I have something to go on - and I'm sorry, I'm not trying to say your doing a bad job DM'ing either! I like what you've done so far, I'm just looking for some other clues or something as to what to do. If you want to compare to see how often I post, I'm in another game on here, http://paizo.com/campaigns/MendedWallsPBPForBeginners/discussion&page=1 6#793
And I play Dolok Pickering on there.

Neils D. Lafont |

Maybe if we break down the problem it will help set us on the right track.
Firstly: what is it that we are trying to solve/what's our goal in this investigation?
The townspeople are weird, but that's not much of a crime. Is there anything else about Jace's Stanchion that is pointing to nefarious goings-on?

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

To me the very fact that there are so many of these creatures right outside town, but not attacking the town is very suspicious.
Also the fact that it is apparently part of a trade route, yet they apparently have nothing new in the market in a long time is suspicious.
But yes, what is our purpose here? What are we supposed to be doing? I don't know to be honest.

Neils D. Lafont |

Ok, so it's hard to say how any of those things may be connected other than the army of monsters contributing to the lack of goods. Before we entered town did we have to wade through a sea of broken/failed caravans?
Also, do any of these things put the town at any sort of risk? They seem to be doing fine despite having limited trade.
Perhaps its some kind of werewolf type situation. While the creatures and townsfolk may not be in league, there could be some sort of incentive to stay out of each others way. Is it linked in some way to our characters being psychic? After all, the creatures treated us differently then some of the other guards. Could we return to the veteran guards and ask them what it was like fighting at the front? I don't recall any of them being overtly psionic. Maybe they were treated differently?

Squirm |

Our purpose here is our own, we were all on the caravan for different reasons and I guess we all have different motivations now we're at a loose end.
Squirm is naturally social and inquisitive so wants to speak to people and find out why the town is so odd. Specifically why everyone seems to be brain dead zombies... Although some towns are just like that I guess...
My bad on the spoiler there Bob consider my hands slapped.

Neils D. Lafont |

I understand that, but this is OOC discussion. Figuring out what questions we want asked/answered could go a long ways to shuffling this along. I'd hazard guess that we're probably behind the other table already.

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

And I agree with both of you. My character is all about knowledge & learning. In this case learning why this town is the way it is, because this does not seem natural. Christaph has a strong, nagging suspicion that something is wrong here. What exactly that is? I don't know. Are we supposed to figure it out & do something about it? I don't know.

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

Upon re-reading the description when we arrived in town, ie:"The buildings of Jace’s Stanchion tend to be single story affairs. With a foundation of stone that must be drawn from the local quarry, the floors have puzzle-like tiles that have been placed together for added stability and do not seem to use mortar. The walls of many buildings are constructed of heavy, knotty logs, seemingly at odds with the ingenious stonework. The roofs are composed of thin, geometric stone shingles, interlocking almost like a turtle shell, supported by thick wooden columns. These shingles are expertly crafted phrenoric ore. All buildings look solidly made and in good condition, obvious pride has been taken in their appearance." There seems to be a lot of emphasis on the stone in this place. Is all this stone made of this 'phrenoric' ore? Seeing there is a mine on the map maybe this is some sort of clue? Maybe we need to get our group back together & see if Squirm & Vara have found out anything of worth?

GM_TheBobJones |

No hand slap - gentle reminder.
Glad we are using the Discussion Thread. Keep
It up
Reminder you are headed backwards to the inn after 2 explorations.

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

Considering all my languages - Lumiese, Alyrian, Oroki, Astis, & Siamni, Did I overhear any of these languages spoken? Going by my memory Lumiese would be the equivalent of Common correct? Did I hear anything else?

GM_TheBobJones |

Normal languages. Remember I am 'reskinning the setting' for one on a made up portion of Golarion.

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

Hmmmm ... just looking over the map some more & I notice the only docks or piers on the rivers seem to be at the points closest to the waterfalls? Not exactly a great design ... Hahaha!
Also, just noticed the fence all the way around house Duarran & all 3 bldgs. there & it's all part of the same fence for the mine as well? Wow! Quite a fence! OBVIOUSLY all the answers are hiding behind that fence! ;)

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

I have the benefit that I can post from work pretty much all day long. If my posting is becoming too frequent or anybody feels I'm railroading the party or anything like that please let me know! I don't mean to be running things for everyone else, I just tend to be impatient & want the game to move forwards.

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

Uuuummmmm ... Has anyone heard from Vara? I don't see any posts from her since Wed 11/16? I hope she's ok!

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

I'm waiting to see the reaction from Bertrand & Syonne to Squirm's actions before my next in-game post.

GM_TheBobJones |

Just logged in now to say I will be spotty posting until Friday at best. Enjoy your time with family, eat lots of turkey, watch football (if you are in the US), and enjoy yourselves.

Dolok Pickering |

Happy Thanksgiving all! (Sorry, I don't follow sports so I'll pass on the watching football.)

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

Sorry! That last post from Dolok Pickering was supposed to be from Christaph! I just now noticed it, too late to edit it.

GM_TheBobJones |

Just popping in to say these Sandbox/Mystery types are challenging. Currently you are all doing a great job. To assist you, you know that the townsfolk are acting oddly, and now part of the caravan guards are missing and the others are 'changed' so that they resemble the townsfolks.
So you have the problem. Now you need to concentrate your efforts on the 'why'.
The only theory I have seen bandied about is the food, which is an intelligent theory, but ultimately wrong as Squirm has eaten to no ill effects.

Neils D. Lafont |

I think the rocks from the mine are having an effect on non psions.

GM_TheBobJones |

I think the rocks from the mine are having an effect on non psions.

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

Ok, so not the food or the rocks of the mine. What could affect some of the guards, but not all? And the two missing guards - maybe they could not be affected & were taken by force? We were gone from the tavern long enough that any signs of a scuffle could have been cleaned up.
EDIT: Correction, it may be the rocks of the mine, just that for some reason they have not affected us.

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

"Mmm. It's getting later. We may consider turning in for now. Besides, we don't really have any reason to go bursting down doors just yet, do we?"
Neils, I think your getting confused on the time frame. We were meeting back at the tavern for lunch! It's a bit early to turn in!
Yeah, the DM makes a good point that I don't know where Bertrand & Syonne went while we were out.
I do think we need to try to find out about our caravan master & the two missing guards. I'd say those are our 2 biggest clues at the moment besides House Duarran. I doubt were getting in there w/o an invite.

Neils D. Lafont |

Real heros take a siesta around lunchtime.

Christaph - The Elan Psion |

Real heros take a siesta around lunchtime.
Hahaha! You funny! Good save!

Neils D. Lafont |

I'm planning a little nighttime raid to the mine. I'm not doing much good questioning.
