The Alternative is we let Keeya do facepalmingly bad interactions like just happened. =)

Seriously though I feel bad skipping over poor Pai her posts were fun. I hope shes okay. Might just be busy with traveling or school or something considering the time of the year?

I looked at her account and her last post was Sat on our discussion thread - I hope she's alright.

In looking over the rules, I think someday I want to play a Grippli Monk named Yoda and use annoying sentence structure :)

I'm alright!
Just suffering from the upcoming visit from the stork this April. (and I have no idea where to pick up!) This will make number 3!

As for picking up - you are at the Arvensoar, the place where the watch is based out of. You are trying to locate what has happened to Natalya, who was supposed to meet Lady Sheila, but never showed up. She had something for Lady Shiela. Natalya is a petty burglar who runs with a gang called The Tower Girls.

Should I just pop in? I think I've been too slow in posting.

Yeah, just jump in with Pai - I'm sure a dirty old guy like Zograthy would appreciate looking at a little bend like her. :3

@K'Nyaz: First, Talon's just going to call him Kay for now, because his name is really hard to pronounce. Secondly, do you think you can look around Zograthy's tent to see if there's anything actually magical about this guy? Make sure he's not a charlatan masquerading as a fortune teller.

Usually in PbP if the story or events get a little ahead of you, people are fine with you doing a back post.

Don't feel like if you missed it you can never go back when it's mostly just dialogue. Combat, maybe not so much, but other than that it's all well and good. I imagine Tiessa wouldn't have an issue with flashback conversations if you just want to catch up on scenes you missed.

@Talon, I was about to do just that. The crystal ball and harrow deck piqued his curiosity.

I'm perfectly fine with back conversations/actions - I'll tend to move the story along, like I did, assuming you ask for directions and enter the tent; rather than spend two days with posts trying to get in the entry of the tent. However, if the party really wants to do something before that, in lieu of it, take actions in the middle, etc - go right ahead.

In RL it would take seconds to have the PCs indicate they go in or take simple, obvious paths - in pbp, that could take days.

Sorry for the cross game posting, but just wanted to pass word along in case it was missed.

Talon and Taize, just a heads up since the recruitment did a vanish, both Midori and Scoria got into Valkur's RotRL game (as well as my Magus Thaddeus).

He didn't link the discussion in the recruitment, so here it is: Valkur's RotRL discussion. Didn't want you guys to miss out in case it snuck past you.

I hope that CaptMadJaq's doing all right - I know that baby stuff probably keeps them busy, and they've already missed a few chances for Pai to step in - regardless, I'll keep playing as if Pai's very much a part of the party until such a time as they've told us that they're dropping out. Which I do hope that they won't do.

I agree about Pai, I too wish her to continue with us - I've had a lot of fun with her posts.

Stop being overwhelmed, and just post. Can be short, can be long, but just get there and make everyone stop overlooking the lovely little gnome. ^_^

If she's a sneaky one, then she can definitely help us out in this next part. Talon just asked who's got good eyes and who can be stealthy - Keeya, certainly, but I'm not sure if she's got good night vision. Gnomes are probably better for that. Talon is absolutely rubbish (8 Wis, -1 Perception mod, no low light or darkvision).

Female Wish I was an elf, but stuck as human. 13th level DM (AC: 10 T: No touching FF: Not in these heels | Init: Five more minutes mom | Per: Oooo, look at the pretty butterfly)

I've been trying to slow it down a bit Pai, trying to limit to one, maybe two posts a day for a short while for you to catch up and not feel overwhelmed.

There's nothing wrong with feeling overwhelmed - I look at the 5 or 6 posts sometimes and go, "ugh, I have to read *all* of that?" :D

I'd suggest just read Talon's last post and go with the flow - everything before is back story.

We'll miss you Pai, you are such a wonderful spirit. I know how RL can all of a sudden become far too busy for diversions. Don't hesitate to check in and say Hi anytime you wish. And, if your circumstances change, pop in and you can rejoin us at an opportune break (there are numerous breaks in between modules and sub-modules), we'll level you up as appropriate. I also know how badly pregnancy and having a child can be a social blackhole where you crave adult conversations, so don't hesitate to PM me anytime.

I hadn't thought about the issue of party stealth rolls - I'll go with the average method for now, it seems reasonable enough. So, we have Keeya: 23 + K'nyaz: 17 + Talon: 13 + Taize: ???

I think my general practice for updates is going to be "one post per everyone saying/doing something with a minimum of one per day or weekend regardless of whether everyone chimes in." I feel this'll be self-regulating for speed. Faster for the times when everyone is free and checking in a lot, slower for times that people become busy. I'll answer questions everyday on the weekends, if possible, and do flavor bits that don't need everyone's action, but sneaking into dangerous situations like possible slavers, I'll wait until everyone is paying attention.

As a heads up, I'm traveling next week again, flying out Friday afternoon and coming back Monday evening. I'll try to do an update Friday morning and Monday night. Middle of the weekend, I don't plan to be near a computer.

I'm just curious, but does anyone mind Talon having assumed a sort of authority? It's just how I imagine his character being, tactically intelligent but prone to overlooking the simple details due to his lone wisdom - he didn't even consider enemy spellcasters when they walked into that ambush.

I know that some parties prefer having no leader, more of a democratic process, though Talon's pretty good about asking the others for their opinions and advice - he understands that he has a lot of gaps in his knowledge and abilities. I just feel like I should get an idea of if his constant instructions are annoying to everyone else and if I should stop.

Male Tiefling Conjurer 2 (AC/Mage Armor: 15/19 [T: 13 FF: 12/16] | HP: 17/24 | F+1, R+3, W+3 (+5 vs. Illusions) | Init: +3 |Perc: +2/+4 [Voroan: +9])

I have no problem with it. I do as much based on my Chr most of the time. If I have a med Chr soldier type, they tend to somewhat take up the role. If I have high Chr types, they mostly try to do things their way, and encourage others to follow.

For K'nyaz, I see his low Chr as self-doubt and self-hatred. He believes in the idea of original sin, so he feels that he will always approach things from an evil viewpoint. He also doubts his own ability to provide much input, so is somewhat relieved to have somebody take the lead, so that he doesn't have to make the decisions. He will add his thoughts on things, but rarely do planning.

We're taking a lap-top so I should be able to post at least once a day except Tuesday.

Itinerary:
Tuesday - drive to Orlando
Wednesday- if need be finish drive, then alternate Universal/Islands Of Adventure
Thursday - alternate Universal/Islands Of Adventure, night time for the haunted stuff
Friday - drive to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, park stuff & haunted stuff
Saturday - drive to King's Dominion, park stuff and haunted stuff
Sunday - drive home, collapse

I'm not abandoning anything, but I may not be real coherent

To save time, Tiessa, you have permission to NPC me during any fights.

Wow, I stepped in it :)

I applied for another 3 campaigns, hoping to get into 1 of them. Well, I've made it into 2 of them so far, a Shattered Star and a Jade Regent. Too bad I applied for each with almost the exact same tattooed sorcerer :D I think the one is going to find a sudden interest in being a bard at level 2 :)

Female Wish I was an elf, but stuck as human. 13th level DM (AC: 10 T: No touching FF: Not in these heels | Init: Five more minutes mom | Per: Oooo, look at the pretty butterfly)

This is totally off-topic :)

I was writing up a back story for a druid - it's a lvl 5 campaign set in Absalom and I was trying to think of a 'hook' and I was browsing through the books and I saw the Grippli and the alternate racial trait 'princely' for it. Something just clicked and I came up with a 'frog princess' background story, a backwards twist on the old favorite. I haven't had this much fun writing a background up in a long time.

You all have a good sense of humor and might enjoy it.

The Frog Princess
Once upon a time there was a dashing and handsome grippli prince who adventured throughout the swamp righting wrongs and doing good deeds. One day he came upon an old grippli woman by the path who was weeping and rending her clothes.

"Why are you crying grandmother?" asked the prince, who was moved to great emotion upon seeing her tears.

Stifling her sobs and sniffling she told him her tale, "Good prince, my granddaughter has been taken from me and she's barely older than a polliwog. An evil human hag has beguiled her and kidnapped her away." Unable to control her weeping any longer, she sobbed for a while and struggled to regain her composure. Finally, between sobs, she continued, "And more horribly she turned her into an ugly, dry-skinned human girl with *hair* the color of gold, skin the color of disgusting milk, and *blue* eyes of all things. The color of vile clear water, not our beautiful, stagnant swamp water."

Aghast, the prince said, "Grandmother! That is a dreadful tale and if it is possible to break this curse and rescue your granddaughter, I pledge I will do it!"

"Thank you good prince! I am lucky the fates led you to find me in my most desperate hour. I know the key to freeing her and you are the only one who can do it, although the task is not pleasant."

"Tell me please dear grandmother for I will do anything to rescue your granddaughter from this hideous fate."

With renewed hope, the old woman stopped her crying and told the prince how to free her granddaughter, "I have gone to the hag's hovel in that scary, dry and sunny forest to spy upon my poor enslaved granddaughter forced serve the old witch. One day, while my granddaughter was out tending the evil woman's sheep, the hag had a visitor, another evil enchantress. While talking, the vile hag told her that the only way to free my granddaughter from this awful fate was for a grippli prince to kiss her!" As she finishes, tears well up in her eyes as she recalls her granddaughter's enforced servitude.

"Loving grandmother, I shall take it upon myself to do this task, freeing your granddaughter. Even though kissing a human is reputed to remove our beautiful warts, it will be a small price to be disfigured if your granddaughter will once again be a beautiful grippli. I will return with her as quickly as possible." He mounted his magnificent lizard steed and headed off towards the scary depths of the dry, sunny forest.

He soon came upon the hag's house and saw the poor girl doing chores and he indeed saw that she'd been transformed into a most dreadful creature, she had a small mouth, a miniscule tongue, blue eyes, white, wartless skin, and golden *hair* growing from her head. He steeled himself for the odious task ahead of kissing her and thought, "It shouldn't be too hard to convince her to let me kiss her, I've been told I'm very handsome and quite charming, many beautiful grippli women want to kiss me."

He hopped toward her confidently with a splash as he left the pool of stagnant water he'd been sitting in and said to her,

"Come to me, my princess dear,
Be free! Kiss thy true love here!"

As he slowly hopped back to his pool, he wondered at her reaction, "Why did she scream like that and run into the hut, slamming the door? Doesn't she want to be free of that ugly body and back to her slick and slimy one?"

Thinking about it further, he realized, "Ah yes! The old grandmother said she didn't remember who she was! I shall have to sneak into the hovel under cloak of darkness, avoid the evil enchantments of the hag and kiss her in her sleep."

Night came and the prince sneaked into the house, starting at the old witch's snoring. He came upon the ensorceled girl lying in scratchy dry sheets instead of on damp leaves or a lily pad, he thought, "One kiss, even though like this you are hideously ugly, and I will return you to the fair swamp, far away from this hell."

Bending over, he closed his eyes, steeled himself, and kissed her upon the lips.

She felt the cold, wet lips upon hers and awoke, when she saw the prince sitting on her bed, she screamed. As she screamed the old woman ran into the room, the scream slowly turned into a long, drawn out croak as her skin turned green, her mouth broadened, her eyes bulged and turned red, and she shrunk, turning into an incredibly beautiful grippli.

"What have you done to me! You vile frog!" she croaked out.

"I have freed you from the evil spell laid upon you by this witch!" he replied.

"A witch! She's not a witch! She's my..." the beautiful grippli princess started to say, but the prince, seeing the old woman grab a broom and prepare to swat him realized the enchantment on the poor girl's mind had not faded yet. Ignoring her cries, he grabbed her, threw her over his shoulder and hopped as fast as he could out of the hut and onto his fast, magnificent steed, which slithered off quickly toward the swamp.

Screaming, "Let me go you hideous frog!" the entire way bent over the front of his saddle, kicking her heels; the girl struggled against the strong prince's firm grip.

"Do not fear, soon the evil spell on you will cease and you will remember who you really are," he said to her as he pulled up rein where the old grippli had been by the side of the path.

"I wonder where your grandmother has gone," he remarked, looking about into the gloomy swamp trying to see her.

"My grandmother?" said the enchanted girl, her webbed hands on her hips as she looked at him sternly, "You just stole me out of my grandmother's house in the middle of the night!"

"But I do not understand, the old grippli told me you were her transformed granddaughter, turned from a beautiful grippli into that hideous human by the evil hag you lived with. And that a kiss would free you!" he explained to the still addled girl who's tongue at that moment reflexively darted out to catch a passing fly, causing her to gulp in surprise as she swallowed it.

Spitting and wiping her mouth she yelled, "You idiot! That old grippli has been trying to get rid of us for years! She keeps bemoaning that we built our home in the middle of prime fly growing land. Well, I'm off to find a way to reverse this curse, good night and good riddance to you!" She hopped off back towards the forest.

"Too bad the spell still affects her mind, otherwise I would wed her and she would be the most beautiful princess in the world," sadly thought the prince.

And the prince lived perplexed ever after.

Recent Background
Since then, Princess Rose, as she calls herself, has traveled to Absalom in search of someway to free her from this curse. By day, she searches the city either wild-shaped into the form of a dog or cat or in the guise of a small non-descript human child via her hat of human guise and spends the nights in the sewers or other dark, damp places.

Physical Description
A diminutive humanoid frog with a rapier at its side, armor made of leaves, and a miniature wooden shield slung on her back. She wears a jaunty little cap on her head, and a dark grey cloak on her back.

When not dressed for combat, she wears a small princess' dress, pink, diaphamous, and glittery with very opulent jewelry and a beautiful tiara.

With her is her small velociraptor mount wearing a small saddle.

I hope so too. It's not like we bothered to find out. Just a heads up, that's going to stick in K'nyaz's craw for a bit. They were good enough to warn us to leave instead of outright firing from the shack. I would like to think jumping humans that offer us the opportunity to leave, when looking for goblins, doesn't become a habit.
