M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

Concerned with Seram Grafire eyes take on a sinister look and he rumbles "Come to Poppa you slimy bastards." A ball of white energy engulfs the Dragonborn warlord as he activates his Light Shield of Protection: Daily Power: Standard action- You and adjacent ally gain resist 10 to all damage until the end of my next turn. He then wades down into the flocking fans of destruction with a giggle that could only come from a borderline crazy warrior. Grafire's thought drift to his happy place as he raises his shield and prepares for what could prove to be disastrous to his health. Feat-Defensive Mobility: +2 AC against opportunity attacks.Grafire moves S1 and then W-1. Seram is granted 1 healing surge minor action - Inspired word +1D6. 2 of 2 Inspired word healing surge for Seram +(2d6=7)

Grafire, sorry to tell you this - you can't move through enemies the same size as you. Well, you can but only if they're helpless. If the cultists were Huge or Tiny then you could move through them and provoke an OA. You don't have to be adjacent to Seram to use the Inspiring Word either. It's a close burst 5, he's within range.

Male Human Cleric of Bahamut 8th

Rowan employs his healing word on Seram He gets to spend a healing surge and gains an additional 1d6+3 hit points.

Rowan then cuts loose with another Sacred Flame on Cultist#3 Rolled a 17+9 for 26-2 for stench which makes it 24 to hit reflexes doing 1d6+5pts of radiant damage rolling a 6 for 11pts of radiant damage hoping it does hit this power also grants 6 pts of temporary hp which will go to Seram and then Rowan makes use of Its action to move into the space he's left.

I am assuming Grafire hasn't moved back which if he does means Rowan remains where he is and all depending on when Rowan gets to act of course

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

No problem got to make sure its legit. I read the rules late last night. I will attempt a failed bull rush on FM3. Bull rush FM3 (1d20+9=10) Which obviously failed miserably.

Grafire bellows at Seram to fight back against his wounds, and the barbarian hears the clarion call deep within his soul to keep going. The dragonborn tries to shove the fish-man and fails miserably as the abomination shoves back.

Seram spends a healing surge and now has 24 HP.

Rowan calls upon the power of the Platinum Dragon and a ray of searing light burns the cultist facing him. A cry of divine joy springs from his throat and Seram feels once more inspired. He then ducks out of the way, giving It the chance to take the front line.

Seram spends another healing surge and is brought to a total of 50 HP and 6 temp HP. (I rolled for Rowan's healing word)

SERAM TO GO. You'll need to stand from prone. We have worked out the effects of Rowan's turn as you all go before the fish-men so it will make no differance.

Minor action stand. Hammer fall on C1 1d20+14=30; Damage 4d4+8=17; the target is also knocked prone

The cultists look on in horror and amazement as, against all odds, their enemy stands to his full 7ft height, bloodied but unbowed and proceeds to smash one of them to the ground!

Do you want him dead or knocked out?

One of the fish-men emerges from the cloud, looking distinctly green round the gills. In conjunction with its fellow denizen of the deep, it slashes with its rusty rapier and cuts the barbarian. As does the other one, slipping to the other side and stabbing.

FM3 - 10 poison damage from cloud. Shift SW. Hits Seram. 13 damage and 2 poison damage. FM5 shift NW. Hits Seram. 14 damage and 2 poison damage. That should take you to 25HP.

I'm not going to be able to post any more today so in case it goes back to the top and back to Rowan he'll use that Summon Guardian spirit I mentioned and plant it next to the cultists where he can see an open space and let it back up Seram with flanking where possible otherwise keep watch on the rear unless Grafire gets into trouble. Take care!

Fabes DM wrote:

I can accept dead. Dead is good, plus I get 2 temp hp cause of it.

2nd attempt, lost my first post,...

"Arrrrgh! What IS it with these overgrown, testosterone-laden, metal-wearing, meat-cleaving,...?!?" He declares to no one inparticular. He waves a hand in front of his face and his poisonous cloud begins to dissipate. He lowers his staff and mutters to IT, "I hope he's really as stubborn as he's been acting!" And speaks a single, soft mystic word.

In response, there is a flash of light from the cultist in the centermost part of the room. It slowly, silently and inexorably spreads until it has engulfed almost half the room. Upon examination, it looks like tiny grains of sand, glowing slightly. And eyelids begin to droop,...

NOT going to continue cloud anymore. DOes it still last until after THIS round?
SLEEP daily power, burst 2 centered on C2. It should cover all the bad guys except the southernmost caster-man. Unfortunately this also includes Seram. (Hence the comment about hoping he's stubborn.) It is a Burst 2, HIt or miss, all in area are slowed, (save ends) If your hit and fail your first save, your asleep!(save ends)

Manny's SLEEP spell Att: (1d20+11=26, 1d20+11=30, 1d20+11=28, 1d20+11=26, 1d20+11=29)

Oops! I forgot to roll an attack vs Seram,...

Manny's SLEEP spell Att:(Seram) (1d20+11=19)

OK, I hope this turns out to be a GOOD thing! This might not be my smartest move, but it's the only thing I can think of to take out a large group at once! (And it IS in MAnny's character!) I rolled good against the fish & cultists! Did I clobber Seram too? Unfortunately, I don't know how hard/easy it is to make a save in this version. (Haven't had to do it myself yet!)

Please don't hate me! ;)
SAVE Seram SAVE!!! :)

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

If anybody uses an action point to attempt a save and can see me I have a feat - Inspired Recovery: When an ally who can see you spends an action point to take an extra standard action, that ally can make a saving throw as a free action, adding your Charisma modifier to the roll. +3

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

Save is 10 or more on a d20. It looks like a sensible move to me - gives us a chance to get in there and clout a few as even if they don't collapse into lovely slumber, they'll be slowed. It's a fantastic spell. Many, many of my monsters have been dropped by it.

From everything I've read Will is one of the weakest saves in 4e. So any power affecting it is almost guaranted to work. On that note let's see if Seram makes his save...12

Cloud disperses. FM5, C3, FM3, C2, Sharallan are all slowed. They must now make Saves at the ends of their turns. If they succeed, they are no longer slowed. If they fail, they become unconscious. C3 shifts W. Attacks Seram. Crits. 20 damage to Seram. C2 shifts W. Misses. Both pass their save and will no longer be slowed. Mother Sharallan moves to 4 squares to the S of Seram Zal. Dagon's Maw attack. First attack hits for 10 psychic damage. Second attack hits for 10 psychic damage. Seram has taken 40 damage. Seram is on -15 now and unconscious. Sharallan makes her save and is no longer slowed.

The townsfolk swarm Seram Zal and smash him up, leaving him dazed as Mother Sharallan's dark energies course through him, bringing him to the floor again.

Akahale is up.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

After a cursory look at the staircase, Akahale considers his options, hears the shouts of triumph from the cultists and returns to the fray.

"There may be other entrances, but now is not the time" he murmurs to Manny. Taking in the now familiar sight of Seram's prone form, he shakes his head. "Some people are very hard to help."

He hopes against hope that he may be able to drop a curse on one of the demon worshipers, but realises his opportunity is still to come.

Grafire Serpenthelm wrote:

Just been reading back and I'm pretty sure we've pumped every healing power any of us has into Seram. Grafire has used both his Inspiring Words and Rowan has doled out both his Healing Words. Akahale has nothing in that department at all, and nor do Manny or It. Prepare to collect a body part for resurrection I fear.

"What does it take to get through to these people?!? Back OFF!" The frustrated wiz shouts as he tries to make room for Akahale on the stairs.

"IT, Gra, Akahale, can one of you,.. I don't know, BREATHE on them or something?!? I'm out of party tricks here!"

can Manny take a minor action and shift UP the staircase one space to make room for Akahale? IF so he will. Maybe HE'LL have better luck!

Sorry guys, That was complete waste, I was at least hoping that we would be able to get off the stairs while they were slowed so we wouldn't take AoO's. It didn't seem to affect them at all.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

Don't fret. These are (a) tough cookies and (b) Fabes is rolling hot. Our time will come. Hopefully very soon... Keep Manny within range if you can, he still does area attacks and nobody else has them for the most part. Akahale has two, but one of them is useless unless he's cursed half the room first and the other deals poison damage which which we've already tried.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

Actually one of Rowans at-wills will give 6 temp HP to an ally. He also has Daily-Cure Serious Wounds, which should get Seram up and then he can take an action point for a healing. But we need to get down there and give him some breathing room.

Mystic Cultist moves behind curtain. Dagon's Fang misses It.

The portly blond man retreats behind the curtain again and It feels a dark presence enter his mind, but he is able to ignore it with ease.

Grafire storms down the stairs and attempts to help Seram. He moves 1 sqr south and attempts to stabilize Seram. Grafire growls and snaps his jaws at FM3 and C3 in attempt to make them back away.
Heal skill Seram (1d20+9=16)
Stabilize the Dying: Make a DC 15 Heal check to stabilize an adjacent dying character. If you succeed, the character can stop making death saving throws until he or she takes damage. The character’s current hit point total doesn’t change as a result of being stabilized.

Hmm never done that before so I am not sure exactly how it works. I used my heal skill for the check.

That works. Though it's only a DC10 to get someone to use their Second Wind and get them awake and kicking -- I'm not sure if the big guy has used his already.

Grafire succeeds either way. Seram has not used his Second Wind in this encounter. If you guys want to have Grafire activate Seram's Second Wind, Seram is now on 17HP but does not gain the usual bonuses to defences. (Seram succeeds on his saving throw to stave off the sleep spell.)

Grafire's fury alarms the cultists and the fish-men, who were all set on finishing off Seram. Staunching the wounds with his meaty fist the dragonborn stems the flow of blood.

Seram's turn now if he has Second Wind activated. You will have to stand from prone.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

Oh I thought I had to use my second wind for that. At least now he doesn't need to make the death save.I will activate Serams second wind.

Minor action stand. Am I able to go defensive?

Move action to stand, and yes you can use a standard action to go on total defense (+2 to all defenses until start of your next turn)

Fabes DM wrote:

Alrighty going defensive, my acrobat boots let me stand as a minor.

Sorry! Forgot you had those.

Seram grits his teeth and using his magical footwear almost bounces back onto his feet. The cultists can hardly believe it. Surely this must be some devil from Hell itself!

Rowan with his Sacred Guardian?

Okay: Guardian of Faith, Rowan's 1st level daily power conjures a guardian with a range of 5 which allows the guardian to occupy 1 square within range, can every round use Rowan's move action to move it up to 3 squares this guardian lasts until the end of the encounter however any creature that ends its turn next to this guardian suffers a +9 attack which if it hits does 1d8+5pts of radiant damage, please note will need a dm decision if more than one foe is adjacent does the guardian get to attack each or only one of them?

"Bahamut hear my plea, Bahamut I call upon thee, I call upon your holy light send forth an ally to aid us in this fight, bring hope against the vile evil that is beset upon us!" Rowan prays as a shining white light manifests and then moves suddenly heading past Grafire, past the cultists and Seram slowly descending to land behind Cultist#2.

Grants Seram flanking bonus as well as being given that flanking bonus to the guardian

The light suddenly blossoms as it becomes a ghostly guardian bearing a sword, shield and armour with only the shield bearing any identifying symbol... that of Bahamut.

The Guardian has to wait until the enemy acts and if they remain adjacent to it, it then gets an attack against them

Seems pretty clear to me. It would have been odd if that were on Rowan's turn, but it's just taking one shot per enemy turn (at most), which is reasonable. Also, note that this power was erratad -- any enemy, not any creature.

Ah, you edited! I don't know that conjurations flank; I can't find anything on it in the PHB, except that the flanker must be an "ally"

N Warforged Fighter

It, finally clear to act, descends the stairs and lines up a flanking attack on one of the Fish-men, even though It has to open itself to an attack to do so. Striking a solid blow on the creature, It then slides further toward one of the cultists beleaguring Seram and strikes the human a glancing blow with It's craghammer.

Passing attack on F3 (with flank) and, if hits, attack on C2. Mark F3 regardless. (1d20 16=28, 1d8 10=15, 1d20 16=35, 1d8 10=11)

Move 2 South, drawing an AO from F3. Passing attack to move SW. F3 is marked. If either F3 or C2 hits Seram, Savage Parry to deflect part of the blow (Fabes can roll it for me if it comes up). Also, if F3 attacks Seram I get a free basic attack on it, before F3's attack is resolved.

Rowan's cry summons forth a spectral knight.

12 damage and 1 poison damage (resistance included) to It from FM3 OA.

It surges past the fray and smashes the fish-man and the cultist, the fish-man getting a stab in before the warforged can dodge.

FM3 attacks It and misses. FM5 attacks Seram and hits. 15 damage and 2 poison damage. Seram is on 0 HP.

Distracted by the flurry around him, Seram is stabbed by the other fish-man and drops to the floor. The fish-man stands, its horrid gasping breathing resounding, it seemingly waits for the barbarian to rise once more.

MANNY!

"'Bout Bloody time!" Mandrake mutters as IT clanks down the stairs and into the fray like a large, clunky Cuisinart. The wizard winces as IT takes a solid blow the mechanical man was too slow to dodge.

"Hey! Watch the paint job! Body work aint cheap!" He cries snippily.

"YOU!" The mage declares in a dangerously low, deceptively calm voice, pointing at the fish-man next to Grafire. "Are beginning to annoy me. BEGONE!" HE cries, and flames leap from his eyes towards the googling eyes of the fish-man,...

Manny's Eyebite: (Vs WILL) on F3(1d20+6=20, 1d6+2=7)
If that hit, I am invisible to it until my next turn

I will SHIFT 1 square S to the bottom of the stairs, if I can see the woman from there, I do the following, if I can NOT see her, I make it a move action and end up in the square above IT.

Manny then steps forward down the stairs, and surveys the din with preternatural calm. When he sees the woman, his eyes narrow.

"I don't think I like you,..." He says calmly. The hairs (or scales) on the back of your neck stand up as he summons his power and moves with sudden speed, lowering his staff towards the woman as he cries in an unrecognizable tongue,...

ACTION point! Extra action, Spectral Ram on the Lead B!@#$.

And from his staff a blast of force rolls out with an accompanying roll of thunder, blasting the woman from her feet. Each echo of thunder seems to pummel the woman again,...

Manny's Spectral Ram: (Vs FORT) (1d20+11=31, 2d10+7=12)

FOrgot to add my +3 for Human Action point bonus (feat) total is 34 to hit!
Never mind it was a crit! (Is Crit automatic now with Nat 20?)
FREE action, Staff of THunder! INstead of knocking the woman back three squares, knocks her prone and does 3d6 extra damage, PLUS the 2d8 Thunder damage from the crit!

Manny's extra damage, from Crit and staff power: (3d6=11, 2d8=7)

18 extra damage, plus the original 12= 30 points!

Oooo! I hope I hit! ;)

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

A crit is a 20 or perhaps lower if the weapon designates it and I believe an automatic hit. But the result is max damage.

Yes, crits are max damage so its 27. And then 18. A total of 45 (!). I do need to check that it all works out... ;D

Sharallan is knocked prone. You are indeed invisible to FM3, Manny.

Mother Sharallan is knocked to the floor by Mandrake's amazing display of arcane might. It is obvious that the fish-man is oblivious to him.

C2 moves to 7 squares S of Grafire. Drops Flail. Take out crossbow (minor). Load crossbow (minor).

One of the cultists moves away from the melee, and unslings a crossbow from his back and starts loading...

The other raises his flail high to smash Grafire but the plucky dragonborn dodges.

Used encounter power on Grafire but missed. :(

Mother Sharallan stands up and snarls with fury. Dark power leaks from her eyes, as Grafire feels himself come under psychic attack!

Dagon's Maw - first attack hit - 9 psychic damage to Grafire. Second misses.

Akahale heads down the stairs, "At last!" he mutters, "You will be annihilated, fish-thing." he says sternly as he curses the fish-man he can see, and a bolt of force flies towards it. It hits the fish-man and sears the creature to a crisp.

Curse. Add 1 to Darkspiral Aura. FM3 is dead.

The blond man also mutters and prays, and a storm of cold and ice erupts near It. It and Mandrake duck, but Grafire gets stunned by the icy chill.

Storm of the Ocean Lord - misses It, hits Grafire, misses Mandrake. 17 cold damage to Grafire and Grafire is immobilized until the end of the mystic cultist's next turn.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

Even though I am not a healer I will attempt to stabilize Seram again. I will need clarification on how it works out though.
Grafire, try's with earnest to move but realizes his feet will not respond. He looks down at Seram and sighs..."here we go again." He concentrates hard and his chain mail surrounds himself with a glow. (Dwarvin Chainmail +2:Daily Power: Free action- Regain HP same as healing surge. - 17HP)

Heal Seram (1d20+9=19) If I can I will activate his surge.

Second Wind can only be activated once per encounter. You have already used Seram's. But you have stabilised him. Which means he now no longer needs to make death saving throws. (Until he takes damage again that is)

Heroically, Grafire ministers to his fallen comrade. Seram has taken more punishment than any mortal should be able to stand, but somehow he lives.

Seram is unconscious, so ROWAN is up now

Male Human Cleric of Bahamut 8th

"In Bahamut's name I call down upon thee his holy light of retribution!" Rowan intones as he casts Sacred Flame upon Cultist#2

He's the only one within 5 square range Rowan can see so I rolled 16+9 for 25 to hit does that -2 still count now that Fishman#3 is down? Thats against his reflex and if it hits does 1d8+5 which i rolled a 1 for 6pts of radiant damage and Seram who I think I can see gains 6 temporary hp

And now for the Guardian since Cultist#2 didn't move last turn
14+9 for 23 to hit Cultists#2's Fortitude which if it does inflicts 1d8+5 radiant damage rolled a 7+5 for 12pts of radiant damage

The Guardian now shifts one square to stand next to both Cultist#2 (if still alive) and Fishman#5 so it help Seram.

Talk about mistakes should have said to help Seram and I ended up thinking there's a bad guy where Seram is!
In any case this is assuming Cultist#2 survives but the Fishman is not in Rowan's sight so he doesn't know its there and once Seram can get up and not be immediately attacked and Rowan can get close to heal him the Guardian will be heading over to Sharallen but thats for another round...

Rowan, the Guardian attacks enemies who end their turn adjacent to it. There are no enemies adjacent to it (the guardian is the sort of statuey/knight thingy on the map. Cultist 2 has indeed moved. As is the case for any attacks that occur on an enemies' turn, it will be easier if I make the Guardian attacks. Please check the current map for the position of the enemies. Would you like to reconsider your actions?

On closer inspection, you can't really see Seram from where you are. You can see all the others. Would you like to nominate someone else? The guardian has shifted. C2 took 6 radiant damage.

temp hp will be better then a save bonus. The immobilize effect is on until the end of the wichs' next turn and then I can move. There is no save for it. I have a +2AC against all OA's so that will help. If that is how I understand it. More over we gotta get Seram healed up.

It, no longer adjacent to an enemy, sees that the priestess is exposed. It first launches another missile from It's torso compartment, this one leaving a sticky goo beside the woman. It then cranks back It's craghammer and charges the woman, swinging a mighty blow at her.

Tanglefoot Bag (miss); Move to NE of woman; action point; Brute Strike (daily, reliable, probably missed). Mark the woman.

Tanglefoot bag on priestess; Brute strike on priestess (1d20 10=12, 1d20 14=18, 3d8 14=34)
