Minwae |
Holding his wound, Minwae staggers back. Well, that did not go as expected.
Could I tell if the gate attacked me or if someone with a spear behind the gate did so?
Minwae |
I searched it and did not find traps. Perhaps I should search it again, but I do not believe it was a trap. I was attacked by that gate. Does anyone know the spell Disrupt Undead? It might be a safe way to destroy it from a distance. Or even positive energy?
Minwae |
The elf removes hand to expose a gruesome wound. The visual is tainted with the stench of bowel. Yes, Ogrim, healing would be most welcome.
Minwae |
healed from most of his wound Minwae will again approach the wall and inspect it, looking for traps.
Ogrim, perhaps I could get a guidance from you for this attempt?
Detect Traps with Guidance: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 9 + 1 = 23
Minwae |
Ah, tricky. Now I see the device. Minwae exclaims. Hit me with another guidance and stand ready with a heal. I have a chance to disarm this thing. He readies both his tools and his nerves and sets to work.
Disarm: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 = 24
GM Idyll |
This time, you hear a satisfying click as the spear drops and the gate swings open.
Repeated lines of footprints mark the dust on the floor of this crypt, all leading to an alcove in the northeast portion of the chamber. The burial niches lining the stone walls are empty save for ancient scraps of yellowed linen.
Six skeletons stand rigid in the alcoves of the room. When the group enters, they instantly jump to action. You hear the creaking and cracking of bones as the others join in the fracas.
Some of the skeletons wield old, rusted armor and weapons - others are unarmed and unarmored. All, however, glow with an unnatural green light from inside their chest cavities.
Skeletons - 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Hagar - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Minwae - 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Ogrim - 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Vigan - 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Darius - 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Round 1 - No surprise round - you were all wary.
Init Order: Darius, Vigan, Minwae, Ogrim, Skeletons, Hagar (I'll act for him if he hasn't posted by the time you all post).
Running dungeons as a PBP makes me chuckle sometimes. Combat after combat. Who needs story when you're underground, right? ;)
Darius Palenthar |
I can't access Dropbox from work so I'm mapless for this.
Darius sees the undead in the room ahead and raises his hand quickly. With a quick incantation, a bolt of magic force lances out and strikes one of the skeletons in the chest.
Magic Missle, auto hit. Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
GM Idyll |
The missile weaves around your comrades and strikes with surprising impact, catching the skeleton off-guard. It lands squarely in its chest, sending splinters of bone flying. Additionally, what appears to be a vial of a strange green liquid shatters, spilling the liquid onto the stone floor.
One down - five to go!
How would you prefer I share the maps so you can see them? I guess Google Docs?
GM Idyll |
Aid is still active.
Vigan attempts to tumble into position, but unfortunately, he just tumbles, bumping into Minwae.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Ogrim steps forward - his channel of energy fills the room. All of the skeletons shake but only one takes the full effect of the energy. However, rather than crumble, each of their green glows grow brighter and they look as strong as ever.
Hagar steps forward and swings his axe at one of the glowing skeletons.
Greataxe Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 for 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
The attack is devastating and the skeleton crumbles to the ground - again, with green fluid spewing forth. Some splashes on Haga, but with no ill-effect.
The remaining skeletons move forward to attack - two focusing their attention on Hagar and two delaying.
Skeleton 1 Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Skeleton 2 Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Both attacks land in quick succession, causing significant damage to Hagar. Hagar has 2HP remaining.
Round 2
Updated Map
Darius Palenthar |
Darius moves towards the skeletons near Hagar, his staff striking out towards the undead. He pushes a bit of his magical strength into the wood, a slight glow permeating the staff.
Move action to get into melee with a skeleton.
Swift action to use an Arcane Pool point.
Standard attack on a skeleton: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22, Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Minwae |
Concerned about the half orc Minwae advances to AR32 and attacks the skeleton directly in front of him. Is the skeleton to his left, in AR31 animated?
Club Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 91d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Ok a 9. That was not worth waiting for...
GM Idyll |
Yes, they are all active. However, ]Minwae and Vigan, your moves don't work as Darius is higher in initiative. He would move into the square you requested. Please repost your actions. Sorry I'm just now catching this.
Darius steps in and smashes the skeleton in front of him. It crumbles into a pile of broken bones and alchemical liquid.
Ogrim's spell washes over Hagar, healing him slightly.
Minwae |
hmm. Now you are making me post from my phone as I am in a day long meeting. Hard to see the map but I'll manage.
Minwae moves up to AS33 and throws his club at the skeleton not in melee at AP33.
Thrown Club: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 161d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
GM Idyll |
The order's kind of screwy, so I'll do my best to get everything caught up correctly.
Vigan tumbles across the floor and lands near one of the skeletons. He lashes out with his fists, but is unable to land a blow.
AR31 Skeleton Attack on Darius: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
AQ33 Skeleton Attack on Hagar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
AP33 Skeleton Attack on Vigan: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 2 = 9 for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The skeletons all attempt to attack, but fail horribly [ooc}(sorry for the lazy description - but those rolls were pretty awful)[/ooc].
Hagar lashes out with his greataxe and attempts to end the skeleton in front of him.
Greataxe Attack:: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 for 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
He too fails to connect.
Round 3
Init Order: Darius, Vigan, Minwae, Ogrim (already posted with Guidance), Skeletons, Hagar
Minwae |
Since Darius moved up, Minwae will pull his long sword and 5 foot up to attack the skeleton in AR31.
Long Sword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 171d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
