Corba Recalls: The big one has a once a day healing spell for the little ones. And the little ones can be worn by the big one, which would then allow damage to be shared among them (big one hurt, little one(s) take half).
The group backtracks, searching frantically for another way out. There is none and they end up on the other side of the chamber looking in at the same situation.
There should reasonably be some sort of Shoanti command code to bypass these guardians or some sort of item that allows safe passage, but you were given neither of those. Since the scenario doesn't list any method to bypass them I have to conclude you aren't allowed to do so.
__________________________
Regarding the length of the scenario, you have faced four encounters and have one remaining. In my experience most scenarios have about four encounters. One of the haunts that you have already faced was a 'time optional' encounter that would have been skipped if the group was close to the 'in person' four hour mark. We are just past the three month mark for this scenario, which is about normal for my groups' pace due to my work schedule preventing a higher posting rate. That speed is why I no longer run PbP convention games or specials as those are usually limited to two months.

No one stepped in to engage them in the room. As I mentioned we weren’t in initiative. Now with that knowledge in place, make another plan and try to execute it. We shall see what happens. You can certainly move back to the other side to try to bait them to chase. Or split up to use both sides to your benefit.

![]() |

"All right, I have an idea. I'm not thrilled with it, but..." He shrugs. "...it's the best I can come up with. There are a couple of ways we can do this...one of us has to go back to the other entrance to that room, while the rest of us stay here. Whoever it is has to be fast. I could use my amulet to cast expeditious retreat, or Lini could ride Droogami, or Corba could ride her dog. Anyway, whoever goes over steps into the room, and if the guardians follow them the rest of us slip out the door. In the meantime, the decoy runs back around to here and exits the tomb. Once they're out, we close the door and fix it with the stone. How does that sound?"

![]() |

Or I could summon one or more creatures to use as decoys. A few eagles could lure our foes quickly out of our ways, without endangering anyone of us.

GM TOP |

Sounds like a decent consensus. Position yourselves for the plan please. I would recommend not being in plain sight through the bottom doorway or a distraction from the other doorway probably won’t do much. Handle Animal Skill is usually used to command summoned eagles.

Point of clarification: The monster in the room is not caged. He 'shoots' cages, but is limited to shooting two at a time. He caged up Des's first eagle, which then got destroyed. Then caged up Des. He has been beating on the first cage so he can destroy it, absorb it and shoot another at one of you all. Otherwise he doesn't have any ranged attacks and you all are... at range.
The large magical construct of bone, sinew and skulls appears completely immune to the flaming sphere as it rolls up in his business. It then winks out, having been summoned for four rounds.
