When the will defies fear, when duty throws the gauntlet down to fate, when honor scorns to compromise with death - that is heroism.

Didn't *quite* kill him... he's on death's door though (1HP). Let's say she impaled in through a lung.

"Why does it seem they are always in the wrong spot today?"

You have no idea...

This module does have several things to like about it, but the plot as written has everything happen just as the PCs stumble by. Be prepared to have your sense of credulity stretched...

I think I'll stick with Paizo stuff the next time I want to run a random adventure, it's generally better written and avoids situations like that.

Actually I wasn't complaining, Lummel sent them to the barracks, It seemed a good thing to say though.

The general rules is one diplomacy attempt per target per person per day. Somehow you got on this fellow's bad side, so you are going to have difficulties with further social interactions... you may have better luck with intimidate.

Sorry guys, I lost my wallet with all the id and cards, being chasing bureaucracy the whole day, I hope to be able to get back posting tomorrow.

That's no fun. Good luck!

@Ziz: I'm pretty sure you used the wand previously...

Quote:

Ziz is momentarily overcome with morbid fascination as the light from the flames flickers in his eyes; he has forced people to laugh before, but never with the intent of harming them. the sizzling flesh and cackling laughter was gruesome, but the irony was strangely satisfying.

directing his attention to more pressing matters, he drops the scroll at his feet, grabs his wand of magic missile (move action), and lets a bolt fly at the large rat in front of him before stepping in to a flanking position (5' to N18).

1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

"finish this one! capture the man-rat! yip!"

notes:
the laughing rat-man has 4 rounds of horrific hilarity remaining.
wand of magic missile, 1st level:49/50 charges remain

I came across a rule that I am considering stealing:

Quote:

I want to try something I've seen a fellow player do in a PbP in which I am playing which I believe will make my life whole lot easier as DM. In the profile section, under the Race tab, instead of race, put your HPs, AC and Save scores and under the Class/Levels tab, put your Perception and Initiative bonuses. So next to your character name instead of it saying, halfling rogue 1, for example, it will say:

X (HP 11/11 AC 18/11/17 F +3, R +1, W -1, Initiative +0, Perception +5)

This will speed up combat as the main bonuses will be readily available to me without having to click on your profiles, which gets annoying very quickly when rolling initiative/saves/perception checks.

Thoughts?

OK with me

Fine with me.

Eles,

I sent a PM to you a couple days ago. I saw you had some posts about Raging Swan Press' Retribution adventure. I'm thinking of getting it (especially as it's 25% off at DriveThru RPG through today).

What did you think of it?

Thanks.

I bought it when it first came out and really enjoyed it.

I wanted to read it again before replying because I can't remember much beyond 'it was good'. I haven't had time to read it yet though, sorry, I should have let you know.

You could get the free supplement (The Lonely Coast) to get a feel of Raging Swan stuff and the region.

I'll try to read it again this weekend (it's about 60 pages).

HP: 18/18, AC 18 /15/11, F:+1,R:+5,W:+4, Init :+10, Percep: +10 (light sens), spells:1st:8 2nd :4

i think that's a good idea. i could even include spell slots.

good catch on the wand use. i'll figure it in.

Male Half-Elf Urban Ranger/3

No problem. I bought it and the village of Swallowfeld in a bundle package since they were on sale.

I got Lonely Road last year and thought that Creighton Broadhurst has a nice style.

@Elesandira: If you use firefox, you might want to give the Lazarus plugin a try. It automatically saves and backs up text and form information in case you accidentally leave/refresh the page or have a browser crash.

ta, i'll give it a try.

note: im watching the thread, Ziz just hasn't had much to contribute recently.

oh, it'll pick up for you when Lummel is forced to arrest you and Bricker for assorted breaking and entering and assault charges.

You should demand kosher kobold food in the cell. Not sure what that would be....

HP: 18/18, AC 18 /15/11, F:+1,R:+5,W:+4, Init :+10, Percep: +10 (light sens), spells:1st:8 2nd :4

lol, i look forward to it =).

p.s. i meant "rope" not "roap" in my last post. not quite sure what my phone was thinking.....

Anybody with some suggestions? We rushed to the tower, and now?
I suck at searching clues.

Sovereign Court

I favour finding the target of this distraction: what might we be distracted from.
Perhaps good use of knowledge: local and whatever shady connections we have might steer us true?

Kosher kobold food = babies. I thought everyone knew that.

good thinking. i think the sewers below the towers and locations of the attacks should be scouted for clues as well. could get lucky...

I was wondering whether that old fellow would manage to keep you out...

Close-quarter combat in d20 has always been rough, Bricker might have gotten himself into a bit of a tough spot!

Would everyone please do as Lummel has done and put your stats in the race/class field? It really does make things a bit quicker during combat...

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

And we'll see how this looks.

I show the last post as over 72 hours ago. Everybody still out there? Alviss isn't on the scene yet, so nothing from me...

I'm here, Lummel should be the next one on, but I was waiting for the GM prompt, in case he want's to recap round 1 and give other indications about round 2
BTW Lummel will sweep again under the rat feet, I like this combo: Lummel sweeps, foe gets prone and AC decreased, Elesandira hits and gets AoO, with the foe unable losing his attack. With more space and Alvis it would be 2 attacks and 3 AoO at lower AC, instead of 3 attacks at full AC

Sorry for the delay!

I had some last-minute travel come up this week and won't be home until Friday evening. I meant to post about it earlier, but I was affected by the problems with Paizo's ISP changeover.

HP: 18/18, AC 18 /15/11, F:+1,R:+5,W:+4, Init :+10, Percep: +10 (light sens), spells:1st:8 2nd :4

these cramped quarters are going to be rough on ziz. i need LOS and 5 feet!

So, home life kept me busier than I thought it would. I promise an update tomorrow... thanks for being patient!

No prob

To any homeowners who don't have a back deck: if you decide to add one (and they're great), powerwashing and sealing a big one is about the biggest pain in the rear in the maintenance department.

I highly recommend treated lumber, which the owners before me did NOT use...

HP: 18/18, AC 18 /15/11, F:+1,R:+5,W:+4, Init :+10, Percep: +10 (light sens), spells:1st:8 2nd :4

looking for a bit of game advice: im at a bit of a loss about how ziz can contribute in this situation other than by drawing some of the heat off of the mele capable characters - any ideas?

Grease could make a difference, and that sleep scroll might be useful too. Acid splash or alchemist's fire can work if there's nothing else to do.

HP: 18/18, AC 18 /15/11, F:+1,R:+5,W:+4, Init :+10, Percep: +10 (light sens), spells:1st:8 2nd :4

yeah, i have considered those spells, but i have no room to cast without seriously endangering ziz - all it would take is one shot and he would be rat food. hmm....

Meandering ramble from an old geezer...

I remember playing Ravenloft in high school. A guy in our group was playing a first level magic user. It seemed like the only spell he had was Grease. Every time we got in combat, he'd cast Grease. It became a running joke.

I also remember my Cleric needing a 3 to turn something and I threw a 1. The fighter got level drained and was pissed.

Ah, good times..

We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

I had a gnome that could solve 90% of his problems with grease or glitterdust. Ravenloft was a lot of "fun"... I had a paladin get turned into a wererat and be swallowed by the mists during the full moon. Some unpleasantness ensued and the campaign only lasted a few more sessions, but it was certainly memorable.

@Ziz: You have a 60% chance of successfully casting defensively; vanish might buy you some breathing room.

Male hp: 19/52; AC:20/17/13; F+6, R+3, W+3; Initiative +6, Perception +3

I'll have Lummel sweep again. I was waiting for the end of the round summary. Should I just go instead?

We're still in block 3 right now, until Ziz posts an action. As long as you're comfortable with where everyone is, feel free to post your attack and I'll start my summary at block 2 of the next round.

Any of you Heroes of Neverwinterers on facebook? I've only recently accepted Facebook as a necessary evil and, surprisingly enough, HoN isn't blocked at work. I played at lunch today and it's a fun little game. Of course, it ended with a 2/3 party kill.

I will gladly HoN friend any of you for in game use.

Not yet accepted Facebook as a necessary, only evil : )

Until a month or two ago, I was completely with you. I'm expecting major drama shortly because I won't accept a Friend request from a niece who I can't stand. Those problems don't happen without facebook.

If you focus it on interacting with people you really are interested in (as opposed to everybody from your high school graduating class, who it seems will want to friend you...), it's not too bad.

Based on her frequency of posting, I think my mom spends about 15 hours a day on it, which probably isn't that unusual, sad to say.

But HoN is kinda like an online Wrath of Ashardalon, which is nice.

I find the paizo forums much more interesting than Facebook, all in all.

female Half-Elf Ranger 5 (Hit Points 49 Current 54; AC 18; Initiative +3; Perception +14)

I go on about once a week: never heard of Heroes of Neverwinter: wassit like?

Male Half-Elf Urban Ranger/3

Quit a bit like 4th edition. Graphics are, well facebookish. But it's fun.

female Half-Elf Ranger 5 (Hit Points 49 Current 54; AC 18; Initiative +3; Perception +14)

Never even picked up a 4e book.

Just gave it a play, a bit too battle-focused for me, I get that with a lot of computer games.

This morning, the first post at the Black Gate website had links to my Sherlock Holmes sites. That is cool!

Black Gate

I had some more short-notice travel pop up. I bought a small netbook for traveling but I don't have a copy of my maptools files on it yet. I'll be back home tomorrow evening and should have an update for you then.

As a heads-up I will be traveling on the 22nd for PRK. The side effects might keep me away from a computer monitor for a few days, it's impossible to say for sure.

ok, no worries

I'm spreading the word to all of my discussion threads... there's a 'werewolf' forum game kicking off on Sunday and we could always use a few more players/victims. You can check it out here.
