No problemo. Re: the potential spellcasters... (it would take Rath forever to try and explain the concept - hence why I'm saying it ooc) could also be someone with spell-like abilities - a low to mid-level thief, etc. Or even a low level human caster, say 3rd, who spent her feats on Silent Spell, etc. Lots of headaches. Bottomline, I think it most likely that IF some of the prisoners are in on it (a good bet) then I would guess there is at least one agent among the regular colonists or crew - someone who can assist them at getting out, getting weapons, causing a distraction, etc.
EDIT - ah hell, it could be anyone with a good UMD and a cleverly concealed wand! Ugh. Screw it - let's go CE and butcher all the prisoners, that should kink the plan... think Gram would like the job? LOL.

LMAO! Why not just unload them on a raft and leave them as a decoy? ;)
Nazard: Pending the "council" that Alexis requested, I would assume that searching the ship in this fashion will consume the totality of their first day out of port. In fact, if it is possible to take 10 or 20 while completing everything in a single pass (even if they have to skip a meal) then that would be Alexis' preference if only to minimize the risk of things and people moving around overly much.

If we could trap that raft... with Symbol of Death or my PERSONAL favorite - 2 Greater Glyphs (set for when anyone new touches it or gets off it). One that sets off Harm and then a Blasting one.
I think the real reason I suggested butchery was because Rath is actually a bloodthirsty pirate at heart.

Biter |

If you want a Perception check from me while we're playing Predator, just call for one, Naz.
Curious Biter will continue to put his nose into every cranny of the ship (other than officer's quarters, for now), while simultaneously preying on Long'Ears as he tries to learn to be sneaky - minus the second day, when the Big Boat hits real deep sea waves, and he spends a day learning just how big those swells can be… and, of course, puking vast amounts of puke. (We all remember how much he eats, yes?)

Rath's activities:
- Step up 'wandering patrols'
- Engage people by playing up his curiosity and playing down his ability to speak common - "Oh you sail-maker are? How do that - very great skill!" , "How is wife liking trip? Seasicknesses not too bad hope." Rath plays the perfect bartender - happy to listen attentively while people talk about themselves. He will encourage that behavior - finding every occupation and life-story simply fascinating
- Do climbing 'practice' at least once a day - particularly running along the outside of the hull looking for signs of tampering or anything else unusual - damage to rudder chains or whatnot.
- And always Perception checks

Nazard |

Minor point...there was a halfling family of farmers who came on board, and a human couple that is with child...not a pregnant halfling farmer! :)
The ship sails for several minutes before clearing the edges of the port and hits the open sea. The ship turns to port, which is odd, since you're fairly certain that Arcadia is the other way (and knowing this group, they'll probably complain about it to somebody).
Eventually, you head down below to get some sleep. The lower hold is jammed full to bursting with people and supplies, and you can't imagine how you'll manage an entire two months of open ocean crossing stuffed like this.
You don't know how much longer (unless you've setup a watch rotation for guard duty, in which case you know it's the wee hours of the morning) when you are awoken by the sound of the anchor chain being lowered and the anchor splashing into the water. You notice that the ship is no longer moving. Soldiers come down below to wake people up if they aren't already awake. An under-officer of Sir Kheiron, Lieutenant Andrells, addresses the lower hold.
"Good morning, folks. Sorry to wake you so early. I'm sure many of you have been wondering and worrying about the tight quarters around here. I wish to assure you that for the most part, this was all part of an elaborate ruse to disguise our arrival time at the Arch. Chelish privateers are on the look-out for our vessel. As per the plan, we have rendezvoused with our sister ships, the Desert Rose and the Cloud Climber along the north side of the main island and need to off-load these extra supplies and personnel to their intended ships. If all able-bodied individuals would be willing to come and help with the off-loading, it would be much appreciated by both the Captain and Lord Brycen. Those of you who were originally supposed to set sail on either of the other two ships, please gather your things. There are launches arriving to take you over." With that, the Lieutenant and his soldiers head back up the ladder. The soldiers guarding the prisoners get them up and begin escorting them up the ladder. It seems that they aren't being asked like the rest of you were.
Those of you who choose to go and offer assistance find your eyes assailed by bright lights, glowing from the main mast of the Lady Iona and those of the two ships off the port and starboard bow. To port, is a three-masted caravel of Rahadoumi design, slightly larger than the Lady Iona, named the Desert Rose, and to starboard is a much smaller vessel of Andoran origins, the Cloud Climber.
It's hard work loading first people, and then crates onto the launches bobbing in the waves. The Captain and First Mate are working the crew, keeping the ship as stationary as possible, while everybody else is down helping load supplies. At one point, you pass a crate to Falcon Gray who smiles wearily beneath his sweating brow; another time it's Lord Brycen himself in his shirt-sleeves.
Dawn is breaking over the aft deck when you finish the transfer and the ship feels positively roomy afterwards. Despite the pre-dawn hours of hard labour, crew morale is extremely high; people seem excited to be doing something, and as the news gets around that this is all part of a cunning plan by the colonial leaders to foil the evil Chelish privateers at the Arch, morale goes even higher. Even the usually-silent father-to-be Maxalis is laughing and joking around, and the prisoners don't sneer at you with quite as much enthusiasm as normal. Once you are finished, you all manage to get back down below for some much needed shut-eye. As you're settling into your hammocks, you hear the screeching sound of the anchor chain being raised and the ocean swells resume the nauseating rocking motion some of you are starting to get used to (but others haven't yet).

Alexis Kirmoon |

Not long after shoving-off, Alexis approaches Elorin, "I regret that our attempts at vigilance placed you under suspicion. It would have been nice if Brycen had confided his concerns to me. However..." her voice trails off and she frowns slightly, "as a royal without an inheritance and the niece of a rival Taldane house, I can see where Brycen may have had reason to not rule out the possibility of foul play on the part of the Society's Taldor faction. I'll admit, it has perturbed me somewhat that the 3rd son of a viceroy who is a rogue and a philanderer and can't even rule his own wife has been appointed governor of a new colony while I've been denied requests for similar charters..."
She looks the tall ranger up and down as if looking for marring on a statue. "I do hope you weren't harmed as a result of Brycen's she sighs, "suspicions about my motivations... Were you?"
EDIT: Son of a mother!

Alexis Kirmoon |

After the transfer of goods and passengers is complete, Alexis approaches Lord Brycen, sore from the unusual amount of physical exertion she just went thru, but in high spirits. "My Lord," she begins, "while your delivery might yet leave something to be desired, I must admit that you are one clever rogue. I just hope that you have enough port on board to repay good Theodric for the part he played. I can assure you, I did not let it come cheaply!"
With that, Alexis cleans herself up with a prestidigitation and laughs to herself as she rendezvous with the rest of The Society's contingent. You still have a lot to learn, Alexis — what a clever bastard!

Brycen smiles at her. As she's leaving, she hears him say, "Perhaps you'd like to come try the bottle of even nicer brandy I have in my cabin?"

EDIT: Son of a mother!
"I understand the subterfuge by Lord Brycen, but I don't have to be happy about it."
Elorin faces Alexis squarely, rests his hands on her shoulders and gives them a soft squeeze, "Milady, what you did was for the protection of this group, this ship, and also of Lord Brycen himself. I trust your judgement in these matters. I believe that Lord Brycen will eventually become to depend upon us.....we will make him see you as an equal in this endeavour. If it is not by your birthright, then we will make it happen by deed! This might be a motley group of adventurers we have gathered on this ship, but there are good hearts here capable of great deeds." He pauses to let his words set in for a moment before continuing, "So no, I wasn't harmed but "our" attempt to protect this ship and I stand steadfast by your side and your decision to act decisively."After another moment where he seems to want to say something else, he lets go of Alexis "Milady, I should go help with the transfer of supplies and passengers." After a quick nod he heads up to the deck to help out where he can.

Alexis Kirmoon |

"Perhaps you'd like to come try the bottle of even nicer brandy I have in my cabin?"
Alexis laughs lightly, "You will have to excuse me, my lord, but after all that bustle I shall sleep the more soundly in my own place than if I fall asleep by way of your spirits in yours."
With a dainty wave, she hops down the open hatch and feather falls to the lower deck while Brycen shrugs his shoulders before meeting the gaze of an attractive young colonist...

Biter |

As the voyage finally begins to set out in earnest, with all the sly maneuverings and plottings behind them, Biter's responsibilities on the trip spur him to gather a meeting of the security personnel. He'll gather up the members of the team who are tasked with defense and seem to have more time on their hands (ie - not Praying Man, Gold-Hair, or the Old Woodsy Man), and he will offer his one idea.
+++
After gathering the group of men together on deck, Biter looks around to make sure no one is eavesdropping. Then he gives each man a heavy look, "Now the group must'ing be more careful than before. Biter is notting to know about sea-travel, but Biter is'ing to know about the Wilds." He gives them a second to let that sink in. "From now on, this group musting to be overly careful. The Wilds is'ing killing those who are foolish, stupid, blind, or weak. We must'ing be none of these things. Quick eyes will be saving us much trouble in the moons to come. This in mind, we sleeping no more without a lookout, 'specially withing those prisoners near. Every moon, two of us is to being splitting the watch, and will catch up on sleeping during the day."
The group discusses how they plan to execute the watch, and will enact the practice the following night.
I didn't want to beleaguer the point, and i'm not sure if every conversation has to happen in full in character, but from now on, the security detail is responsible for people's health. And we're definitely in a compromised position with these prisoners. If you have any specific plans for this, go ahead and speak up, but I say we just have a "standing guard" every night. One person on sentry while the group sleeps.

Elorin |

That does make sense since Biter and Stinky both have Darkvision, so we have someone who can see in darkness. I have Low-light vision, but not as good as ye old Darkvision.
Elorin agrees and starts this new watch. Did we want the stealthy one on each watch doing the wandering patrol, while the not so stealthy one watches over the party?

Alexis Kirmoon |

The watch plans sound like a good idea to me.
Alexis doesn't necessarily sleep a lot except for when she's been partaking of strong drink. Rather than spending much time below-deck in the vicinity of the prisoners, she seems to find greater rest and contentment studying her spellbook while seated on a small cushion near the prow where she is out-of-the-way of any sailors working the rigging. She takes short cat-naps mainly during Elorin's turn at watch since Pete and she seem to talk shop a bit too much for her to easily nod-off.

Lord Brycen |

Those of you searching the ship for magical auras find none, save on the persons of Gray, Brycen, Theodric, and Sir Kheiron, and auras coming from behind a locked and guarded door that soldiers tell you is the armoury (one of the forward compartments in the Upper Hold). If there is a spy on board, he's not giving himself away by carrying magical loot (at least, not loot that doesn't have an undetectable aura spell placed on it).
It's early early on the 10th of Gozran when you finish your cargo transfer, and you set sail just as you collapse in your hammocks. The ship sails for 5 days along the Inner Sea, heading inexorably towards your rendezvous with the Chelish privateers who infest the Arch of Aroden, the bottleneck between the Inner Sea and the Arcadian Ocean.
Early on the 15th of Gozran, the remainder of Brycen's plan for getting through the Arch is revealed. All ships drop anchor out in the middle of nowhere; no land or ships within view at all. Again, soldiers come to roust you from you hammocks and you get brought up on deck.
Lord Brycen stands at the edge of the aft deck to address the crowd below him. "Friends, we are a little over 1 day from the Arch. Even though we've tried to convince the Chels that we're now a fleet of only one, there's no guarantee that it worked, and as soon as we show up with a Taldane, a Rahadoumi, and an Andoran ship, they'll know it's us. Our sister ships are joining a Rahadoumi merchant marine caravan, while we are disguising ourselves as a Chelaxian vessel. We need to switch our colours and flags, repaint our hull markings to rename the ship, and we need a team to replace the bowsprit with a slightly more unsavoury one that is curently being rowed over from the Desert Rose. After our re-decorating, we'll spend the rest of the day drilling. Any colonists willing to come to the defense of the ship during our run at the Arch, should report to Sir Kheiron and Lieutenant Andrells. If it comes to it, Mr. Gray and I will use magic to propel the sails with magical wind. This creates very sudden bursts of speed, pushing the ship about 50 feet each time. We'll have to practice holding on, so I need all cargo secured below. We'll take a few practice bursts to get used to it; I don't want anybody going over the side because they forgot to hold on. Let's get this done, folks." With that, he takes of his jacket and prepares to get to work.
Those interested in melee should go see Kheiron, whereas anybody planning on fighting with their bow should see Andrells.

Elorin |

In a discussion later with the rest of the group, "It makes sense that if this "spy" plans to bring either a Chel raiding party or pirates down upon us he will do it within in the next few weeks. This may be one of our only times to be able to possibly catch him or her trying to communicate with his contacts. We must be extra vigil during this time to see if we can catch them and possibly end this threat to the ship and the formation of this colony!"
Hopefully via use of stealth we can try to catch the spy possibly at night above deck trying to communicate with their contacts, I imagine it would be tough to communicate below decks with so many people around.

Alexis Kirmoon |

"That sounds fine Elorin. Given that I can provide either ranged attacks or support to melee combatants, I'm going to check with Kheiron on where he wants me..."
"Sir Kheiron," Alexis begins, "I currently have spells prepared that can duplicate the accuracy of a marksman with a light crossbow. Also I have prepared color spray and light of lunia would be of use in the event that we are boarded. What are your preferences on how I coordinate with both your strategies and Andrell's?"

Biter |

The announcement from the Rich Man puts a scar-ruined grin on Biter's face. Finally, something I can get my hands around. Leave all this double-scheming to the weak…
As Biter approaches the Horse-Man, he takes a moment to wonder how such a creature came to be. Eyeing Horse-Man's powerfully built top half and even more powerful bottom half, he has to admire the amount of power one such as he could create in combat. Biter's grin is widened as another thought strikes him, Well, i guess we'll see how powerful he is in combat in the days to come. Then his smile fades, I wonder if he's able to swim?
Biter warily approaches the towering Horse-Man and pats the worn pommel of his great blade and leans on a tie-line, "Biter is'ing here to discussing the close fighting that may being coming."
He then takes a few moments to eye the rest of the assembled "armsmen" in disdain. This whole fight may come down to myself, Friend Rath, and the centaur. His wide grin returns, and he flashes Friend Rath a vicious smile. EXCELLENT!

Sir Kheiron |

"Colour Spray is a nice spell, but it may be cumbersome with the close quarters we'll no doubt be facing. I do not know of this light of lunia spell you mention, and true strike is a useful one shot spell. We may need you to pick off enemy ballistae-men or gods forbid if they have spell casters of their own. You should decide though if you want to act the archer or the meleer, and then prepare either colour sprays or true strikes, not both. If you want archery, we can put you up in the crow's nest. Talk to Andrells."

Sir Kheiron |

To Biter:
"Excellent, my friend. I assume your unarmed friend, Mr. Darknugget, and Mr. Greynor will also be joining you? We'll position you on the main deck. Our primary concern will be grappling ropes and boarders swinging in on ropes. The grappling lines are just as important as the boarders, maybe even more so, since we can deal with boarders once we've made our escape, but with ropes connecting our ship to an enemy, we're dead in the water."

Biter |

Horse-Man's words register a deadly-serious response on Biter's face, and he holds up a tiny fist, pointer finger extended upwards, "Cut ropes…" a second finger joins the first, "Killing the attackers." Then Biter rotates his hand over to a thumbs-up, and Biter nods a 'got it'.
Biter cuts his eyes over at Friend Rath, "Though Horse-Man maying want to speak more slow to Friend Rath over there..." Biter shakes his head in sad mock sympathy and points a tiny finger at his head, "Friend Rath can'ing to be slow in the understanding."
i'll let WildsMan (Greynor) speak for himself, but i'm sure those others would best be used on the melee-detail. What are the plans for Praying-Man (Abbas)?

abbas |

Abbas approaches Sir Kheiron.
"Sir, I would join with your group of defenders on the deck though I am no stranger to melee combat at least in practice, I feel that my healing abilities far out weigh my skills at sword play. I will take up a supporting position near where you expect the fighting to be thickest so that I can channel Sarenrae's healing light to as many of your men as possible while still being able to offer assistance in melee should it be needed. That is unless you have other plans for me.
that is Abbas's plan but he will do what ever sir keheiron or the other party members want/need him to do, since they have far more tactical knowledge than he does

Gregor Trevian |

Gregor walks upto Sir Kheiron, "I'll stick with the front line folks. Most of what I can do while at sea requires me to be closer than bow range."

Alexis Kirmoon |

"While I do not have true strike, some other spells I do have that may be of use include..."
"...as for color spray, if you have the alchemical resources for me to act as a bombardier, I believe that would be a more practical use of my abilities. For now, I will join Andrell's group, but I am open to further suggestions if you should have any."
Unless Kheiron has more to say, Alexis will concentrate on Light of Lunia and her telekinetic cantrips. She brief's Andrell on her capabilities to learn what he thinks on the matter.

Nazard |

Lieutenant Andrells practically salivates the idea of alchemists' fire at a range of 110 feet. He confides that there are two cases of carefully packed alchemists' fire in the armoury (24 vials in total). If Alexis is willing to situate herself in the crow's nest and use her launch item spell to throw alchemists' fire at the enemy sails and decking, he'll assign a soldier (or Elorin) to cover her with a bow from enemy ballistae.

Nazard |

Your day is filled with hard work, though not nearly so onerous as the cargo transfer two days previous. Chelaxian privateer clothing is handed out to any personnel who plan on situating themselves above deck. The colours of a Chelaxian House (Knowledge (Nobility) DC 18 to identify) are run up and the ship is renamed Crown of Jeggare (which might give a clue as to whose House colours they are), and the bowsprit of a beautiful sea nymph is replaced by a carving of a horned devil brought over from the Desert Rose.
After the redecorating, you go to your assigned posts and practice hanging on through the gust of wind spells Falcon Gray and Lord Brycen throw into the sails. The gusts are only a few seconds long, enough to shove the ship 50 feet ahead or so. The ship rises out of the water with each burst, then falls into the water, so the jolting motion is both back and forth, and up and down. If you aren't prepared, it's going to be a Reflex Save DC 15 to grab onto something and avoid being "hurled backwards" 50 feet (gotta love inertia), but if you prepare yourself by grabbing a railing, you have no problems.
After a greuling day, you gratefully retire to your hammocks for the evening. Some of the good food is broken out, and some rum rations are shared too.

Alexis Kirmoon |

Alexis' Tactics
From the crow's nest, Alexis will use any alchemical objects available to bombard either the sails (fire), the deck (thunderstones), or the seige weapons (acid) of enemy vessels via Launch Item (+2 ranged attack 110-ft vs. colossal objects).
Since she will have the best view of the Lady Iona, she will delay until after Grey and Brycen's gusts of wind to avoid mishaps with the alchemist's fire.
After the first bomb is away and she's likely attracted some attention, she will cast shield to boost her AC +4 to 16 and negate any magic missiles targeting her and make use of the basket around the crow's nest and the mast itself for cover (AC +4 to 20) and concealment (20% when firing an attack, 50% when ducking to hug the mast afterwards as her move action).
If enemy casters or any especially dangerous foes present themselves, she will cast light of lunia. This will cause her to glow (likely attracting attention) until she has fired both rays. If casting this spell is necessary, she will always fire both rays during the same round to try and take out a target as quickly as possible (+2 ranged touch 110 ft 1d6 per ray, SR applies, but no save).
Otherwise, Alexis will make use of Launch Bolt to make ranged crossbow-like attacks against enemies. (+5 ranged attack, 80-ft increment, 1d8 damage). If Elorin was able to craft any bolts that I can light on fire, then she'll borrow a hooded lantern to make attacks on enemy sails to if alchemist's fire is not available.
Lastly, Alexis can cast one more non-prepared spell using the arcane bond funtion of her wand. This could either be a 3rd Light of Lunia attack, or perhaps even feather falling (her prepared school spell) from the crow's nest to deliver an emergency casting of color spray.
be sure to factor in size bonuses for attacking gargantuan/colossal targets
1 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 dmg 1d6 ⇒ 3

Ignoring the jabs of his tiny comrade for the moment, "You assume correct, sir. Close combat and short range." He holds up a shuriken for Keiron's inspection, "Good to maybe 30 feet, but 20 feet or less is much better. If that makes difference in your plan."

Ravarath |

Biter cuts his eyes over at Friend Rath, "Though Horse-Man maying want to speak more slow to Friend Rath over there..." Biter shakes his head in sad mock sympathy and points a tiny finger at his head, "Friend Rath can'ing to be slow in the understanding."
Rath smiles wickedly at his blood-thirsty pal, "Hope your blade is sharper than your tongue, now. Seem to recall seeing your butt running away when we left Cheliax last time." He claps Biter on the shoulder. "Hopefully no Hellknights this time."

Biter |

"Friend Rath was'ing only to see Biter's butt because Friend Rath is'ing so slow. Biter woulding think those long legs could be moving faster than that. Besides, Friend Rath was'ing running away, too."
gotta get those speed jokes in before your monk awesomeness begins to eclipse my barbarian awesomeness!

LOL
"Very true, Friend Biter. Reminds me of old Vudrani story... 2 men, in woods, meet Dire Bear. First man starts lacing up boots to run. Second man say "What doing that for? Bear faster than horse! You can't outrun bear!" Second man say, "That true... but don't have to outrun bear, just have to outrun you." " With mock gravity, Rath says, "Vudrani people very wise, but maybe not so fast."

Rath hears the Priest's words and says, "Forgive intrusion, Bhai Abbas. In swirl of battle, good people and bad people may be mixed together. Please to try to only heal good ones, if possible." He smiles, "Makes job harder if you heal pirates too. If you get in trouble, you call one of us, OK? We do same. We rely on each other now." He grabs the Priest's hand in a fighter's grip. "We are team."

Ravarath |

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!" then, shaking his head with laughter he mutters, "the slowing man was'ing to be eaten by a bear. That's a good one, Friend Rath. It's funny when slow people is'ing being eaten."
Rath kneels down next to his friend, "Yes! And hopefully in this battle we are the bears and the Chels forget to lace their boots."

Alexis Kirmoon |

Rath kneels down next to his friend, "Yes! And hopefully in this battle we are the bears and the Chels forget to lace their boots."
Overhearing her friends' banter, Alexis quips, "If the bear gets close enough you better worry. I intend to make certain it is on FIRE! How's that for a warm reception?"
She picks up a dingy mug that was left laying about on the railing and in the blink of an eye it is sailing away as if shot from a longbow. In a more serious whisper she says, "Make sure we have full buckets handy in case they figured out the same trick."

"It will be done as you say, Rajkumari." He adds with genuine concern, looking at her post in the crow's nest, "May not be right to say but... Cover your pretty ass up there."

Ravarath |

Biter whips his head around to face Friend Rath, and a sobringly serious expression of child-like awe resides there. Biter whispers to you, "Gold-Hair canning make fiiiiiiire!"
"I think if Rajkumari says it, she can do it. Don't know if it is spellfire or regular fire, but it will happen." Rath sets about placing and fillng buckets strategically around the deck.

Alexis Kirmoon |

Alexis laughs, clearly glad that at least you two are treating her like a real person and not a fragile flower. "If at any point during the battle you should think you've seen it uncovered then call for Brother Abbas because you are obviously laying on yours!"
Wow, I'm starting to sound more like Alis, what madness is this?
To Biter she says, "While my spellbook currently contains no fire spells, I'll be employing something a bit more scientific and reliable — alchemist's fire! Think of it like being hit with a jar of jelly or preserves only that jelly catches fire when the glass breaks."
