Carter shifts in his boots excitedly at the mention of the medusa. How fortuitous! He shivers as a jolt of fear shoots up his spine. And precarious! The fear passes and he stops to pick up the stone bird. He glances around conspiratorially and stuffs the stone in his backpack. "Do you think we can keep this?" he whispers. "This needs to be in a museum. Or on my mantel!"

He murmurs a spell and his clothes glow like silver for a split second before returning to normal. He follows the leaders through the brush carefully.

Cast Mage Armor. Four hours remaining. Carter should be in the middle of the group while moving.

GM, I listed my prepared spells for the day in my profile.

Esaul finds the direction, and you start your day's march. Your uneasiness continues as you all feel watched.

I need a marching order with spaces between them. I've recycled our map. There is no path per se, but that's the direction you are going. Everywhere provides partial cover due to the overgrowth.

I switched Carter and Tris due to Carter's stated desire to be in the middle of the group. Beyond that, I'm fine with current location. If someone else wants to be rearguard, switch with Tris. Now we are a blanket of some stealth, wrapped around a clanking dwarf... ;)

"Ah'll be takin' point nie, kiddos. Tha' snake 'eaded queenie's lurkin' 'bout sure as me beard's silver." Thondrir adds more quietly, "Lessee if lassie perfers dwarfbait."

Shuffling out ahead of the group, each step jarring his armor so much so that Thondrir looks more ridiculous than formidable, the dwarf takes point ahead of the group. He keeps his eyes downcast to his feet, trying to appear as if he is tracking despite having little experience with such things. He occasionally stops to examine a bit of twig, taste the residue on a leaf, or kneel down to run fingers over tracks that aren't there.

OK I've moved Thondrir to the front. Please confirm your starting positions. Devan, is Arend summoned? I've time to start the combat after the gold medal men's hockey game tomorrow.

Make a DC 27 Knowledge (nature) for the exact distance of the gaze. Otherwise, a reasonable assumption is that the gaze is not affecting you now. Therefore, maybe you need to see her eyes, which would be about 60-ft or so?

Bluff: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 Bluffing, since Tris has no idea if the army really will be coming that close to the medusa's territory. If you rule Bluff isn't applicable here, then she's just at a +2 Diplo instead.

Thondrir sputters something in dwarven under his breath before turning to join the rest of the Samaritans in withdrawing. He recognizes the ruse in the words of his companions, though he hopes the thought proves more truthful than they know. A creature turning a chunk of the armies marching on Fairhaven into stone would be a remarkable turn of fortune, given what they had been told by the gryphon rider. Not that he has a choice otherwise, but the dwarf brings up the rear of the retreat, just before the now enormous Kel.

After seeing his compatriots retreat, the (suddenly massive) brawler follows Carter as they jog to the South, keeping a watchful eye back over his shoulder as he does so, in case the medusa speeds up and in so doing reveals herself.

Turning to Carter as they run, he says, "Hey buddy, sorry you burnt that scroll for nothin'. Hopefully nothin', anyway! When this is all over I'll buy you a new one."
