Grint Mavric |

Grint grabs his sword and tries to attack the bat-thing that attacked him just now in a wild frenzy of defensive thrashing, more as if to scare it off than actually trying to hit him.
Attack, Greatsword, Prone: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 5 - 4 = 182d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 = 10

GM Chyro |

Grint strikes true for another 10 dmg, causing a shriek.
Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25, 12 dmg but no stagger.
The snow zombie version of Elsa's adoptive mother wails at the impact.
"No dear, i died at their hands already. No need to come after me."
"Kakaka, whoohoo, you throw ice too."
While not showing signs of fear itself, it does seem to take Elsa more seriously than the others now.
Sabel stabilizes.

"Get next to me before you strike!", Burdock casting a spell of dwarven empowerment and holding the charge.
If you take a 5' step between Burdock and Fear, I'll tag you with the Bull's Strength for an extra +2 to damage and attack rolls for 3 minutes :)

Lyssa Kail |

@Burdock: Considering Grint will be running away on his turn, I assume that's meant for me? Please correct me if I'm wrong :S
@GM: I think you forgot to give the fear another 1d4 bleed damage at the start of his turn. Lyssa hit him with one of her previous attacks, giving him 2 bleed damage then. He should now bleed for 1d4 every time his turn starts.
Lyssa 5-foot steps to get within reach of both Burdock and the fear. She gives Burdock a moment to cast his spell on her before she throws two punches at the fear.
Punch, FoB, +2 Bull's Strength: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 2 = 17 Damage, +2 Bull's Strength: 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10

GM Chyro |

If you say so.
Grint gets hit and returns to snoozing.
Elsa hits square, Fear takes 12 damage but resists staggered.
The two minor fears return (on a few hp only) and one manages to touch Father Burdock for 3 damage & a minor debuff.
Fear steps 5ft down and jabs at Grint for 6 dmg.
Then a strike is aimed at Lynnen, she screams in terror as it connects and makes a run for it to the other side of the hall, Fear ignores her, making a mocking cackling laugh.

"That's not a Toragite way to fight!", the dwarf now fighting off the cruel fear. Seeing Grint go down hard, he moves next to him to try and stabilize the man, dropping his hammer to grab his wand.
CLW wand @ Grint: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Well, you're not dying at least Grint.

Father Burdock |

Actually, when bleeding out, it's not a Fort save, it's a Con check, far worse :( And with the -11 against you, I think it would have been a Nat 20 needed to live!
Unless that's a GM house rule I was unaware of, then in which case, still good to hedge the bet :)

GM Chyro |

Botting Lyssa's round.
Will: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 7 - 4 = 9, the wailing startles Lyssa.

She however, steps 5ft back and casts a spell. Elsa notices a faint veil of white enveloping her.

Now, what were you worrying about? :)
Elsa throws another spell at Fear, who recoils at it for a moment.
All see the minor fears fading and fly into Fear as two orbs of darkness, his bleeding stops and Fear takes a 5ft step back, panting.
He cackles and turns invisible.
Combat over.
From this point, anything he/she/it says is clear language to you all.
"Huhu....exquisite, the thrill of combat. You beat me, i must be getting rusty. You should fix up that bow wielding chap and the blonde elf. You can ask me anything afterwards."
Lynnen walks up to Sabel, CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
"Get up, don't just lie around like that! You're an elf for goodness sake."
Not too difficult to see Lynnen's crossed arms as stands speaking after the healing touch.
It kind of reminds you of the way Elsa's manner of speaking, an occasional bossy tone.

Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha |

Wait what? Weren't that thing just attempting to kill us? Let's kill it first. Why are we out of combat?!

GM Chyro |

Its intention was to step down when near collapse. Which you made sure of. It challenged you to combat in exchange for some aid and you agreed. It's a sensible entity/person with some common sense in self-preservation. Weither you accept its current surrender and potential aid is up to you.

Grint Mavric |

It probably was some sort of test. And here Grint lies dreaming about bats and all he thought he was going to have a talk with the man. Poor him. I'm fine with either talking or killing him to be honest, though Grint can't voice his opinion atm.

Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha |

Ok, I just read back where he said beat me and I'll help you....I guess Elsa doesn't frost him into eternity now...but he did hurt Grint so...she still isn't happy.
Elsa snarls as frost drips from her hands...but she holds back as Father Burdock ministers to the fallen.

Sabel Ea'tari |

Sabel becomes conscious again and looks around confused.
"Wha...t?"
"Wasn't my own free will... You could have helped me a lot earlier. What have I missed?"

Father Burdock |

As everything goes back to normal (aside from his downed comrades). "Yeah, they're a plucky bunch, I'll give them that.", Burdock using his wand again to tend to wounds.

The dwarf raises an eyebrow at Lynnen as she heals, then scolds Sabel. "You get used to it, I think. She has a knack for... attracting attention."
"You ok lass Jenny?", he then asks the timid girl.

GM Chyro |

"And risk being cut in half by that thing? He was too close for comfort."
"Y-yes, th-th-thank you f-for ask-ing. Did we all s-s-see the s-same th-thing? I saw a tw-twist-ted owl-b-bear and c-cubs."
Fear's voice echoes softly within the hall.
"Huhu...sweet little miss, is tha how you see me? It differs with each individual. So, to the one who proposed a conversation.
Does ser dwarf see...wait, you don't currently,...why i prefer to reside within obscurity?"

Before we end your miserable existence...

Father Burdock |

Burdock is surprised by Elsa's outburst. "Yes, I can understand, although testing us like that was unnecessary. I'm not here to see if I can give rites to anyone, by someone else's hand or by ours if I can help it.", Burdock quickly eyeing the ice sorceress before continuing. "You said that you know about the Vault... and even proposed helping us beyond information?"

GM Chyro |

"She's a fiesty one, the conjuress, i like that. But no conjuress, more accurately my existance has been made miserable."
A quiet......
"I am cursed, cursed, crafted to be nothing but a viewer's worst fear or nightmare. I've been in this place for about a year, making progress losing my own horrors, until a certain woman came by and took me from my cell. Darned woman....operates on people...leaves them bound to guard places. She wears a nurse outfit, on orders of 'The Father'. Some nasty nutjob leading a group more nutjobbed than all the loonies put together.
"As for the vault, that's exactly where they took me from. *insane chuckling* "Back where you came from is a double door and there should be a staircase near a wall, look carefully. The ones who are guarding the entrance to The Vault are pockets of those nutjobs, but beware, within the Vault's individual cells there's an anti-magic field. I could not what i could just now. It's a big circular area with many cells, northmost is the one you want, the one with the saddest of us all."
There's a disgusting *shlick*, and a lifelike eye made of glass comes rolling towards you. "Press this onto 'ANYTHING' living, even those who cannot see, they'll see me in their minds and be paralysed with fear if their will is weak. But it'll take time between uses. But since it's part of me, it will function not outside of this building, since i am bound to this place, as long as she lives. The corridor in the back of the hall leads to an office i'm warded from. Believe you me, killing the nutjobs at work here and you're liberating this place....and yourselves."
'Eye of mind's terror'.
Use as melee touch, will DC16, anything living this is pressed against will lose its next turn and take a shaken penalty on its 1st action after that. Usable every 4 rounds.

GM Chyro |

"My own magic didn't, HERS makes this possible."

Lyssa Kail |

"I see," Lyssa replies as she turns toward the others.
"I don't want to hog all the special items," she tells them. "One of you should take it."

GM Chyro |

Jenny comes standing next to Elsa and looks at Lynnen, then at the rest.
"S-s-someth-ing's odd. She 'didn't' un-un-underst-and common befo-fo-fore. But prior to th-the fight with th-this weird f-fear thing, she unders-s-stood miss Elsa."
The redhead stands with her arms crossed.

Sabel Ea'tari |

Exhausted from the fight Burdock heals her. She smiles and thanks him.
"That was really welcome!"
Still coming back to her senses she lets the others handle the talking. Near the end of the discussion Sabel turns to Lynnen.
"Something you want to share? Unless you mean us harm it doesn't matter to me one way or another. Everyone has their secrets."

GM Chyro |

Lynnen has her arms slightly crossed, with her face ever neutral.
"No, i have nothing to share. Weither i understand the common speech is irrelevant, i just prefer to speak it or pay it mind as little as possible."
During the talking she waves one hand gesturing.
You notice her pendant is a circle with a finger pointing at a star.
The symbol of Findeladlara, elven goddess of art and architecture.
Which explains her healing and the protective spell on Elsa.

GM Chyro |

By saying that, Father Burdock does catch Lynnen's attention as she subconsciously takes the pendant in her fingers.
A raising brow and slight nod hints she's pleased with the acknowledgement of her deity.
Man's scoring a point here.
Finer details:
Findeladlara is also a goddess of tradition, preferring innovation over new things. She is harsh towards worshipers who are not elven, never answering their prayers. She is a CG aligned deity.

Father Burdock |

Can still T10 on that for a 18. Smart dwarf is smart.
"As a dwarf, I can respect the values of tradition and improving something to make it better than to just scrap it and start anew, although I think that's as much as I would expect from the mistress of the brush."
He waits for any other reactions, ending with, "Well, that's a long way to say thanks for taking care of Sabel; glad I don't have to deal with any more dead than she can summon!", chuckling at his attempt at humor.
At Lyssa's request for the eyeball, Burdock feels uneasy. "I'll handle... it, if no else wants it. Especially if magic isn't going to work over there, I'll have to wall the line for the others.", the dwarf eying Jenny, Elsa, and the pair of elves.

Father Burdock |

Whoops, forgot to heal myself and Jenny.
"Here you go, lass.", Burdock taking his wand to heal the cold burn on the stuttering girl before turning it on himself.
CLW wand @ Jenny: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
CLW wand @ Self: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Wish I could roll like that more often... but we should both be topped off now.

GM Chyro |

He mentioned the 'individual' cells, not the Vault as a whole.
Lol, confusing the elf with the redhead as well, but i know what you mean.

Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha |

Elsa has pretty much exhausted her magic for the day...so she will be relegated to intimidate checks anyways.
