Father Burdock
"I can let you use your arrows for another battle, four minutes of abundant ammunition.", notes Burdock.
And I second Grint's question!
Burdock will check out the door closest to him before opening it.
GM Chyro
Lol at the 2nd'ing with an !
You wouldn't 'know/feel' when the effect ends, like you would with a powerdrink. The liquid works only when in the 'wrong' environment vs low DC illusions, but you'd not benefit from it much after that last fight.
White lines are air vents near the ceilings, case you're wondering.
I that case, ser Burdock, perception roll please.
GM Chyro
That....is a doorknob, completely harmless. The door also seems to be safe. Opening reveals a long corridor, with just 1 door on the far right.
Thankfully, this corridor is not in the fashion of a neglected and gloomy version.
Lyssa Kail
"I still don't trust it, even if it looks harmless."
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Lyssa proceeds toward the end of the corridor. While moving she inspects the hallway for traps, and she does the same for the door when she's near it. If she encounters a trap, she'll of course stop in time.
Sabel Ea'tari
"Don't the glasses reveal anything? Like a pit or something in the middle of the hallway hidden by a illusion."
Sabel starts casting summon monster to call on Isabella.
"Wait one moment please."
Once she is finished she will send her through the hallway and let's her open the door after inspecting it herself first. Ofcourse if the hallway is safe
"This way we can avoid walking into traps and such. We could even distract hostiles. I don't have too many spells like this to use every day but for now I think this the wiser choice."
Perception on the door: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
GM Chyro
Your first line was meant ooc rather? And no, it'll only function on command. Besides, Lyssa came across without problems.
Sabel notices nothing on the door.
I'll go with that even a mindless skeleton can make the movement of using a doorknob.
As the skeleton opens the door, Lyssa and Sabel see a man and woman, both in underwear in a romantic pose.
"Huh? DO YOU MIND?", the woman looks embarrassed and the man slams the door shut. A click from a sliding lock follows.
Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha
What an odd thing to be doing down here in this terrible place...
Sabel Ea'tari
Sabel looks away from the sight.
"Well they had distraction enough from each other I guess."
She looks back into the hallway and decides she wants some more information. She knocks on the door and calls out.
"May we ask some questions?"
GM Chyro
......
"What? I'm having some private time here."
Lyssa Kail
How sick and twisted are they to do that in this place?!
Lyssa suppresses the urge to kick the door down and slap both of the lovers.
"I suggest we leave... There's no special reason we have to be inside that specific room."
GM Chyro
How sick and twisted are they to do that in this place?!
Hahaha ^^
GM Chyro
So...unless you decide to go bruce lee on the door, you head for the other door.
Both Jenny and Lynnen look with a questioning look, the 2nd neutral as ever (with a bit of haughty air).
"N-n-nothing th-there?"
Quickly forward, you find the door untrapped.
GM Chyro
No, between the opening, conversation and walking back to the room, the time has passed.
This door leads into another long corridor.
Sabel Ea'tari
Detect magic and perception on the hallway.
Sabel opens the door and walks slowly through the hallway.
"What might we find next in this weird place?"
She asks no one in particular.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
GM Chyro
You'll be busy a long time with that though ^^. I'm fine with if you want.
Lyssa Kail
Lyssa patiently waits to see if Sabel finds something.
"One more such thing and I don't care about the Vault anymore. I'll head straight for the exit."
Father Burdock
"I'll take the lead. Think my armor can take anything nasty that may be lurking.",
The dwarf moves past the cautious elf and goes to the next door. He tries to listen on the other side for more strange noises.
Perception through door: 1d20 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (19) + 3 - 5 = 17
GM Chyro
Was kinda hoping Sabel'd clarify, but sure, the good Father can go ahead.
Sabel notices some magic aura near the door.
When Father Burdock steps within a few feet of it, something goes off.
A loud burst of sound comes forth, vibrating with force.
Sonic dmg: 2d8 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11
Both make a fort save DC16 for half.
Sabel Ea'tari
What's there to clarify :S Sabel walks through the hallway looking for traps with perception and detect magic. Although perception doesn't do much in this case. I would see the magical aura from 60 feet with detect magic, wouldn't I be able to warn Burdock for this? It is cone shaped 60 feet meaning the door would be well in that field.
GM Chyro
I was reading a thread the other day where they were going for detect magic on specific squares and in other games the detect magic had been casted on individual squares. The range of 60ft hadn't come to mind. You can still warn him RP wise, but the one opening the door will have to make that save.
Glyph of warding.
Sabel Ea'tari
I always use the cone thing. Never heard of people using it on single squares, which would actually be really weird if you can scan half a building xD Maybe if you would like to know extra information or something but i wouldn't do that otherwise.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
"STOP! For someone with magic in their blood you are pretty reckless. There is a glyph of warding at the door you are walking towards."
Sabel starts chanting and slowly but surely Isabella appears out of nowhere.
Casting summon monster 1 for Isabella. I hope Isabella will trigger it... She is not really alive and kicking as the rest of us.
"Could you open the door for us? I don't want to join you as of just yet."
The skeleton will open the door.
GM Chyro
Since no objection's made against Jenny & Lynnen following, they'll do so.
Isabella doesn't trigger the glyph, it's still present to any who come near. This means approaching from the hallway sets it off, in a 10ft range into that direction.
Perception vs door: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
From the angle Sabel's viewing, through the skeleton's frame, Sabel sees a middle aged man sitting behind a desk, reading a book. He looks suprised as he notices the newcomers.
"Who are you, this area is off limits."
Father Burdock
"Heh, thanks for the heads up! And magic isn't in my blood; it's a gift from Torag.", Burdock correcting Sabel. "But you are right that was reckless of me.", acknowledging that much.
"I still think I have the best shot of handling the glyph.", he notes, thumping his armor. It still unnerves him to see the elf so calm with bringing undead she converses with, but still accepts that she does take better care of them than some people do with the living, especially here. Seeing her ask the skeleton to walk through and open the door, the dwarf waits to see what happens.
GM Chyro
See my previous post :P
Skeleton doesn't trigger glyph, middle aged guy reading book, pending reactions.....
Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha
Elsa grows more perturbed by the sheer strangeness of this place. You have maniacs and abominations running amok! Who are YOU! she shouts, anger causing icy wind to howl from her voice.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
GM Chyro
I'm assuming you're still in the corridor, unless you roll a fort to half the 11 sonic dmg, then you move in.
The middle aged man is dressed in what could be considered civilian clothes. Hair the color of pepper grey and brown and ditto short beard , he now looks suspicious at you. Especially so when you mention The Vault.
"This is a section of the 2nd floor only for 'staff', formerly a section for the armed forces of old Korvosa manor. Staff which you don't look like, neither were scheduled. More so, what in name of the gods is a walking skeleton doing here? Necromancers among you?"
The man is likely upset enough to take some action, but he looks unarmed and no weapon racks are at the wall.
Edit; ninja'd by Elsa ^^
The man is silent for a moment as Elsa shows authority in her voice again.
"What? Lady what are you talking about, what maniacs and abominations? The maniacs are locked up below.
I am Chaleb, record keeper currently stuck here watching the door you intruded through."
Something within his voice hints he might indeed know nothing, mislead perhaps. But he sure sounds dutiful.
Father Burdock
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
After hearing Elsa and Chaleb talk, Burdock steps back into the conversation.
Not into the room yet.
"We were authorized to get to the Vault, but things have been weird since we got in here. Please, Chaleb, guide us there and we'll leave you be."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
GM Chyro
"That sir dwarf, is easy to say, but you are lacking your escorting orderly."
Father Burdock's honost tone however, seems to pay off.
"Let me check first, before i call any security to see you back down."
He writes a note and places it within a wooden ball, which he twists closed. A metal pipe adjacent to his desk is where he drops it and you can hear the fading sound of the ball on its way.
A minute later, from another horizontal pipe, a brown mouse with a small folded paper comes out. Chaleb picks it up and reads it.
*Mumble mumble*
"Hmm, it's odd to me, but the confirmation of your claim checks out.
You may proceed through the hall. Take the door on your left."
Chaleb stands up and walks towards the door. A few words and Sabel doesn't sense the glyph's magic anymore.
Lyssa Kail
When Sabel indicates the glyph's gone, Lyssa proceeds. "Thank you, sir."
She moves through the man's room, into the hallway beyond.
The door on the left...
GM Chyro
While in the corridor, you also notice a door at the far end.
Sabel Ea'tari
Detect magic and perception on the next part of the hallway, watching out for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Sabel keeps quiet during the encounter not wanting to disturb the figure.
"Isabelle could you walk in the front?"
GM Chyro
Entering the hallway Isabella poofs.
She's only 1 round per lvl, 18 seconds from when you summon her. Given the conversation took up most of the time, that leaves little else.
No magic lies within the hallway and Sabel doesn't see anything indicating traps.
Grint Mavric
She could have given the command to Isabelle when the others were speaking though, that way he speaks and Burdock and Lyssa respond while Isabelle approaches/sets off any traps.
Also sorry for my lack of posts, am having a lot of my time soaked up by someone the last 2 days.
Grint follows the conversation from a distance and leans at the wall just ahead of Jenny and Lynnen.
"If you recognise anyone that mistreated you, please tell us. That way we know whom we can trust and whom we cannot."
GM Chyro
No Grint, that would have provoked any action from Chaleb. Undead barging into one's office can't just be missed like that.
Say hi to that person for me, btw.
Jenny nods. "W-will do. But h-he is a str-stranger to m-me, n-never heard his v-voice."
Left door or the one at the end?
Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha
Party is ready, door is open!
GM Chyro
Opening the door, he sees a large round hall, with a single door on his right. 6 columns keep up the 16ft high ceiling.
A group of armed men stand in the back, not uniformed like the asylum's guards you saw downstairs. They are conversing with a robed figure until one in the back looks and sees the stout dwarf in the door opening.
"Intruders!"

Mage armor expires after this fight.
Father Burdock
"Wait before you shoot, Grint!", Burdock calls out, working on a gift from Torag, his bulk covering the entrance currently.
Grint, delay down to after Burdock so I can cast Abundant Ammunition on you! It'll last for 4 minutes :)
Can I Kn: Religion anything here?

Elsa's hands begin to drop ice and her breathe turns frosty. Her eyes turn an even deeper shade of blue, and her lips curve into a sneer.
I'm tired of these #$%^^@!!# people in this #%^@#$#$% place!
Sabel Ea'tari
Sabel casts bless on the group in preparation for combat.
"जाओ! जाओ! जाओ!"
She points to the door and yells.
Go!Go!Go!
Duration for Bless is 5 minutes.
GM Chyro
Sabel blesses the party, instilling increased combat capability to each.
Ser stout dwarf, it's your turn.
