He is tough, athletic and possesses a keen intellect, though he is not an educated man. In some ways a typical Rieklander - open minded and charismatic, accepting of foreign ways, perhaps a legacy of the strong Dwarf presence in his home town.
Considered serious, even dour, by those who do not know him well, he was often seen riding out to apprehend a ne'er-do-well or cut-purse during festivals when his colleagues are more interested in securing their next drink, his charisma sometimes inspiring younger Wardens to follow him out. He is not fond of fashion, dressing practically as would be expected of someone who spends significant amounts of time away from home. Those who he has arrested might be surprised at his humour.
His dedication is appreciated by his superiors but he is also well liked and respected by his colleagues, despite their good natured joking.
Unusual amongst his profession he is not one to mete out 'justice' rashly but is unfailingly fair and gives a fair hearing to those he apprehends - but his professionalism can lead to a ruthlessness in pursuing the truly guilty - many a murderer has died holding out a bag of gold offered as a bribe.
Once he has tracked down his quarry he prefers to bring them back for trial and often the menacing sound of the pistol hammer being drawn back and a cool stare is enough to achieve this end.
He is a fair shot and whilst not a keen fencer, as one would expect of one of his humble origins, he does dedicate himself to practice with both sword and shield. He prides himself in keeping his equipment is top condition. His most prized possession is his pistol but he is equally skilled with a bow.
His mothers recent death has led to a change in the habit of 15 years. His family home is full of the screaming children of his sister and her husband, another builder and foreman of his father. Whilst the grandchildren keep his father from the grief of losing his wife and he is very fond of them Alfred has resolved that he needs a change.
He would like to take a wife but without the solid means behind him he cannot hope to achieve this. Although he knows he could work lucratively as a builder in Ubersreik he longs to see a little more of the world. Thus he has packed his bag, saddled his horse and is riding for Nuln, second city of the Empire, to see if he cannot make a new life for himself.
GM notes
With there potentially being a Dwarf and Elf in the party I wanted someone a little more open minded than your typical citizen.
Riekland is very close to Nuln so it makes sense for him to travel there.
I have read the background of Road Wardens and find the background very interesting and I think I will enjoy playing Alfred. Whether he will keep to the law when times grow desperate remains to be seen...
I am not sure if I can stay a Road Warden - if so then perhaps I am travelling to take up a new post in Nuln. If not then I have resigned and look to make a living in a new way.
I can tweak or even change sections of the above to fit in better but I hope that it will blend nicely into the story.
I have never played WFRP before (I have the rules as I was thinking about running a game for my D&D group) but I used to play 40k and Warhammer in my youth so I am fairly familiar with the world.
I hope to hear back soon if it's possible for me to play.
I will finalise the details of my stats and equipment tomorrow (or this evening) if I hear back.
Thanks!

Working on my human commoner as we speak.
1d100 ⇒ 36: Entertainer
1d100 ⇒ 48: Farmer
Hmmm. Tough choice...but every good story needs a local farm boy swept up into the action, so I'll go for that.
WS 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (7, 5) + 20 = 32
BS 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (6, 10) + 20 = 36
S 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (5, 3) + 20 = 28 I'll use Shayla's mercy to make this a 31 and go.
T 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (8, 3) + 20 = 31
Ag 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (7, 4) + 20 = 31
Int 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (4, 8) + 20 = 32
Wp 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (5, 9) + 20 = 34
Fel 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (3, 7) + 20 = 30
W 1d10 ⇒ 3
FP 1d10 ⇒ 8
Talent 1d100 ⇒ 64 Savvy
Talent 1d100 ⇒ 48 Night Vision
Gold 2d10 ⇒ (5, 7) = 12

okay, I am going to put a hold on new characters there.
It looks like we have six Players, one more than I was originally going to go with. However, I am feeling generous.
The characters are:
Katrina (Llaelian.) A female Human hunter.
Gottfried (Scranford. ) A Human Farmer.
Erevan (Spazmodeus.) An elven rogue.
Cristoph Buhrer (Torillan.) A human Wizards apprentice
Alfred Baudry (Lightbulb.) A Human Road Warden
Harlgrum Ironbeard (bilbo bang bang) a dwarven soldier.
I am just getting stuck in to re-read every ones backgrounds, and look over sheets.

please read carefully.
I am posting the game play thread now.
Do not post in it yet.
Once I have finished reviewing the PCs, I will post listing those characters approved. Once your character is aproved, your free to post IC.
It is possible one or two of you may need to work your characters just a little more, before posting.

scranford:
Gottfried has a number of mistakes.
1. His wounds and fate points are wrong. You compare your roll to table 2-2: starting wounds and 2-3: starting fate points, rather than simply using the roll. These tables are on pg. 19 of the WFRP Core rule book. Your results should be wounds 10 and fate points 3.
2.You have not used the Provincial Features optional rule, found on Pg. 245 of the careers compendium. As you are from Ostermark, please replace your human racial features with the following Provincial Features
Ostermark
An Ostermarker gains the following skills and talents:
Skills: Common Knowledge (the Empire), Consume Alcohol, Gossip or Speak
Language (Kislevian), Speak Language (Reikspiel)
Talents: 1 random talent
Special Rules: You gain a +10% bonus on Common Knowledge (the
Empire) Tests that deal with your home province of Ostermark.
3. Your free advances are applied in incriments of +1 or +5%. Not the total possible bonus. You can raise your wounds by +2, while you are a farmer, but you must spend experience to do so.
Once these are corrected, I will check over the rest, okay.

I think I've got the fate points right. I have them at three. I'll change the wounds, but I had +1 from Hardy, and +1 as the first advance, I didn't increase it by two from the advance. I guess I missed the provincial features note. I'll change the profile tonight.
UPDATE: I have made the changes
Hardy and a +1 would explain it.
on the fate point thing, I saw the wounds roll and assumed you'd made the same mistake, sorry. As for the backgrounds, very good. I cannot see any other problems that jump out at me.

Zombieneighbours |

Spazmodeus:
1. Erevan appears to have 1 to many wounds. Your free advances are applied in incriments of +1 or +5%. Not the total possible bonus. You can raise your wounds by +2 total, while you are a rogue, but you must spend experience to get the second wound.
2. Erevan is missing his default trappings found on Pg. 20. If you don't want cloths, a weapon or your other trappings, that is fine, and i have a way to bring you into the story, but I am guessing you want them.
3. Your background is good, but such that you'll need to be brought into the game in a different manner to other characters. You are not on the boat

What's the etiquette on posting? Do I wait for everyone else to post before posting again?
Cheers. :)
On the others PBP I've played, you're free to post when ever you want.
One other thing you may want to do is post under your character alias and find an avatar for your character. It's easier to identify the characters with a picture. If you need directions for that, just ask.

Alfred Baudry |

I think I have found it. I click change avatar image. A screen loads with tick boxes and I tick ranger (I am doing this for my alias not my main). But no images appear, just numbers? None of them seem to be linkable. I tried on IE and Firefox.
Am I doing something wrong?
Oh and very sorry I totally forgot to change to my alias on in in Character thread! Sorry! :)

Lightbulb |
Did it from IE and it works.
Who know... Solved now so no worries. :)
----
Question for Zombie - Am I still a Road Warden on my way to Nuln to take up a new post (if so will I be able to plausibly get away - my character wouldn't desert his post - or have I retired?
I would prefer to stay a Warden if possible because I like the law man type image. Which could be fun with a rogue in the group (not that I will play it like a lawful-stupid paladin from D&D!) :)

Hi all. Sorry about that. As i mentioned before, i have had a very hectic time recently. As of tomorrow, we should be back into full swing here however. I look forwards to getting back to this now that things are more settled. That assignment kind of blind sided me, what with loads of extra work and the like.
