Pendin the ties up Gnoll looks at you like your speaking gibberish...because to him you are speaking gibberish you would gather by his reaction.
Aelearon
Aelearon the doorway opens up to room so incredibly immense you can only see a fraction of its size. The ceilings here seem to slope up higher probably closer to 60 feet but you not entirely sure as some of its lost in shadows. Perhaps a hundred feet away to the east, what appears to be a chalice on a raised stone platform casts eerie green illumination upon what looks like a watery pool. The chamber’s western wall some of which is lost in shadows as well, is pock-marked by hundreds of shallow niches, each about the size of a gnome’s head.

Pendin Fust |

Pendin switches to Sylvan after seeing the incomprehension on the Gnoll's face.
He looks at the rest of the party, "These creatures were taken unawares by us. Their lives may not have needed to have been wasted. Truly, I pity these poor wretches, so far from perfection as to not know it even exists. Does anyone know what they are, or speak their language? I do have a Potion of Tongue if need be."

Lady Zaldane |

She moves forward and speaks in common to the gnolls, and begins to talk as she moves 60ft
Here me Gnolls, lay down your arms and repent your evil ways and welcome the embrace of Shelyn the Eternal Rose, and be welcomed in her warm embrace
Diplomacy
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24

Pendin Fust |

"Perhaps we should divest this...Gnoll...of it's worldly accouterments. As well as it's fallen companions. We may succeed at cowing it into submission."

Both your pleas seem to fall on deaf ears or ears who have no understanding of the languages you speak, the captured gnolls grunts and cackles like a hyena in some form of a guttural language that is common to his people and then spits in Pendin's face. You get the feeling he doesn't like you very much.
Aelearon
because I forgot to mention this additional info earlier
To your south about 40 or more feet is a door, to your west is what looks like another t intersections which goes north again and south but you don't see much more as the shadows are heavy in these areas as there not much light. While the east is as I described it before a fountain with a glowing chalice at its peak and 200 or 300 feet behind it a wall with many hundreds of niches all up and down the wall.

Aelaeron Beast-Caller |

If you're all quite finished with that dog-man, you might want to come in here before the door closes again. I don't see any mechanism to reopen it once it does. Aelaeron calls out from some unseen location within the room.
Besides, I think it only speaks its own language. Not that it might not have useful information, but let's do our interrogation inside the room.

![]() |

whispers to the group I am going ahead to make sure that the doors do not close on you all, do not forget to loot those dogs
I go into stealth mode since we only have one gnoll left and I go into the doors and scout ahead to see what I can see here.

Pendin Fust |

Pendin wipes the spittle from his brow and visibly clenches his fists at his sides. "Animal! You DARE expectorate on ME?! I will rip your head..." He takes a deep breath to relax himself and mutters, "Irori is my model. Perfection must be attained in physical and mental realms. Irori is my model."
He looks up at the gnoll, then the rest of the party, "My apologies for the unseemly display. Of course, you are correct Aelaeron, I shall drag this vile creature into the room. There I can consume my potion and question it."
Pendin drags the creature none too gently inside the doors and looks around the room as he crosses the threshold.
Perception 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 20 = 28
Pendin unslings his backpack, rummages through it for a moment, pulls out a potion, and quaffs it.
Potion of Tongues - I can speak and understand the language of any intelligent creature. 30 mins.
He looks at the creature again and says in it's language, "Creature, do you understand me?"

When you all step into the room beyond the door you see a room so incredibly immense you can only see a fraction of its size. The ceilings here seem to slope up to 60 feet some parts are still lost in shadow but thanks to Luca's light in the area around you most is visible. Perhaps a hundred feet away to the east, what appears to be a chalice on a raised stone platform casts eerie green illumination upon what looks like a watery pool. The chamber’s western wall some of which is lost in shadows as well, is pock-marked by many hundreds of shallow niches, each about the size of a gnome’s head. To your south about 40 or more feet is a door, to the west about 60 feet is what looks like another t intersections which goes north again and south down tunnels in either direction.
Gelik and Drake you don't see any traps on the ground around you.
Pendin you drag the gnoll through the doorway and when you start talking in his tongue after drink the potion he seem astonished for but a second before grinning widely Yes I can understand but I will not listen to you, you coward. I would rather be the refuse on a goblin's arse than converse with you so kill me so I can be devoured by Rovagug, you spineless excuse for a warrior. He then smiles and again spits in your face.

Pendin Fust |

Pendin convey's the gnoll's response to the rest of the group after *again* wiping the spittle from his face. He asks if anyone has a spell of sustenance to cast upon the creature.
He then speaks to gnoll in it's language, "Creature, I am about to have a member of our party to put a spell of sustenance upon you. You will not die from starvation, but I will leave you bound so this Rovagug can devour you alive. He points at Lady Zaldane, "That lady there wishes you to change your ways and aid us, she guarantees you will be left alive and set free to do as you will if you help us."

![]() |

The Gnoll seems amused by your continued pleas You and your pink skinned she-devil can rot in the foul depths of the Nine Hells with Asmodeus himself for all I care, do your worst you yellow bellied elf lover for I will tell you nothing. he says before spitting in Zaldane's direction.

Pendin Fust |

"Lady Zaldane, I believe you have your answer. This foul beast is not willing to repent nor aid us. If noone objects, this Asmodean worshipping beast has failed in adhering to good. His life is not worth saving."

Pendin Fust |

Pendin nods sharply and proceeds to hold the gnoll's mouth and nose shut.

Luca the Faerie Dragon |

You got it, Boss.
The cat-sized dragon swoops down from above the doorway and lands on the gnoll's lower belly, dangerously close to its privates. It stalks up the creature's torso in a menacing fashion once Pendin has its nose and mouth firmly sealed and then breathes a cloud of gas around the dog-man's head.
DC 12 Fort save or Euphoria (staggered, sickened, and immune to fear) for 1d6 ⇒ 5 rounds.

Pendin Fust |

Pendin would probably be close enough to inhale the gas
Fort save 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

Chirinide the Half-Elf |

Chirinide cast Comp Languages on herself after killing the last gnoll.
"When you are done ask him 'Who is Rovagug?' And I don't think he worships Asmodeus. He might just think we are evil for attacking without provocation, for which I can sympathize. Stealth should come when hunting a known target not strangers."

Pendin Fust |

"It may be that you are Chirinide, but we are in Cheliax, and this beast's invocation of Asmodeus' name is most likely far from coincidental. "
Pendin looks at the gnoll and says in it's language, "Who or what is Rovagug?"

Lady Zaldane |

She looks to Aelearon and Luca,
Do either oh you two have a tongues spell on you so I can talk to our lovely Gnoll friend so he will become far more compliant
oh and its only a knowledge check of 28 because i double checked my sheet and i only have a +8 instead of a +12

![]() |

Despite Luca's attempt at sickening the Gnoll, the Gnoll only gags a little and then seems just fine.
To Pendin the gnoll says Rovagug is the devourer and the eater of worlds and all souls, he will consume everything and shall bring an end to everything, he is your doom. the gnoll lets out a cackle as he says this.
Malcom to the north of you the tunnel continues for about 30 ft and then curves to the northeast at an angle. To the south the tunnel goes only 25 feet to a wall and then the tunnel turns to the east.
Aelaeron and Zaldane you are able to remember that Rovagug is an evil god sometimes associated with human death cults the venerate Rovagug as a destroyer of all creation. You also can both remember that recently there has been word that previous Gnoll worshipers of Lamashtu have begun following Rovagug.
Drake in what direction are you moving?

Pendin Fust |

"This gnoll worships death. Rovagug is apparently his deity of choice. He does not seem any more inclined to help us and I am tired of being spat upon. I don't believe it could help us even if it wanted to. It likely knows nothing."
Pendin repeats his sentence in Gnoll to make sure it understands that he is at least through with the creature.

Lady Zaldane |

He may serve a foul god of Destruction, but even in my eyes and the eyes of the Eternal Rose he may be saved, I wish i had beseeched my goddess for that spell but alas I have not she pulls down her hood revealing her face and its scar Please plead one last time Pendin as I lighten his heart
gonna use my domain power Charming Smile
Charming Smile
Will save DC 21

Chirinide the Half-Elf |

"Give me the tongues potion and I can magically 'entice' him to help."
If they give her the potion or cast a spell allowing the gnoll to understand her then she will cast suggestion (Will DC 19).
"Since our plans will make things easier for you and your god, I highly suggest you truthfully answer any questions we may have till morning when we release you from these bindings."

Pendin Fust |

Pendin shrugs his backpack off and and rummages through it for a moment before pulling out a potion.
"My hope is you can successfully convert this creature to our cause. This is my last potion of tongue, and it should last for about thirty minutes. Make well, your use of the time."

Pendin Fust |

Oops my mistake, totally forgot to specify. Lady Z, do you need to understand and speak his language to use your domain power? If you do then it's a toss-up between you and Chirinide, basically a 19 or 21 will save...I'm sure his will isn't the best. If you don't need its language I would likely caution Chirinide to wait before consuming the potion so you can try your charming smile

Malcom
You head up the north tunnel while most of your compatriots decide on the best course of action with the Gnoll. Ten feet after turning at an angle northeast, this ten-foot-wide stone passage ends abruptly in a stone wall of decidedly different manufacture than the side walls and floor. Two arcane looking symbols, about the size of a human head, mark the wall at eye level. A hammer and chisel lie upon the floor in front of the wall, immediately below a fist-sized hole knocked into its center. Beyond the hole lies absolute darkness.
Drake
You see much as Malcom did before you see a t intersection one tunnel goes north and the other south, you see all this and observe Malcom heading up the northern tunnel.

Aelaeron Beast-Caller |

Aelaeron grows bored of the interrogation and wanders off after he uses two more Pearls of Power to restore the spells he cast during the short battle.
I hope whatever information that mongrel has is worth the effort.
He then casts detect magic and warily approaches the chalice and the pool. He stays as far from the chalice as possible while still keeping it inside the range of his spell.(60' cone).
Luca rides on his shoulder, still directing the dancing lights at the ceiling.

Pendin Fust |

In all fairness (and I didn't realize it until I was asked) Lady Z mentioned using her charming smile but did not ask for the potion, only for me to plead. Chirinide asked for the potion straight up. I think I will give it to Chirinide and caution that Lady Z try her charming smile first and I will plead with the monster, if that doesn't work then Chirinide can quaff and cast.
"Chirinide, please wait a moment before using this potion. Lady Zaldane believes she can charm the beast with her smile and I may be able to get some useful information without needing to lose another potion."
Pendin motions for Lady Zaldane to attempt her smile.
