Salutations!
I'm running a new play by post based on a homebrew that I've run a number of times, set in a lost continent in a distant land called "Forzega."
Map of Forzega
History of Forzega/Players Guide
General House Rules
Check out the above before committing. Of particular importance, please make sure you can meet the posting requirements of the campaign :)
I'll be posting more details as time permits. Just want to get the ball rolling :)
Yours in Adventuring,
Phil

Yes, check out the docs for info about classes and races. Some races and classes, such as sorcerers, have distinct disadvantages in the world.
15 pt build. You will have ways to become more powerful as you go.
The tone is a save the world type of adventure... But with a healthy dose of whatever the party wants. I purposely do not put a lot of detail out there because a lot is actually dictated by the groups decisions and play styles . If the group wants a slower pace to explore non combat options, such as building a hotel, they can explore that. If they want to focus on getting through the plot, it will be a run and gun affair with just basic RP and skill challenges.

Verants? Aren't they the plant deal? I do not believe they get an animal companion.
So, with sorcerers, the thing to keep in mind is that if you are ever discovered for what you truly are, you will most certainly be hunted by one of the most powerful organizations in the world (The leaders are 14-20th level wizards). Wizards must be registered with the guild. Blackguards...the more physical arm of the wizards trained in hunting down illegal fey, sorcerers, etc, are also trained to know the difference between divine and arcane casting.
This doesn't make it impossible to play a sorcerer. Some of these challenges have a few solutions that work at least partially. But, again, keep in mind... it's basically an arm of the government that has a division dedicated to identifying, tracking and capturing wayword wizards and foul sorcerer types (and fey).

yup you are correct dm i meant Sylvan (Fey)
i know about the Wizard guild from the Players guide. but i am going to have good bluff skill, the animal from the Sylvan bloodline and this nice power :
Bloodline Arcana (Rakshassa): Add half your sorcerer level to the Spellcraft DC for others to identify spells you cast. If their checks fail by 5 or more, they mistakenly believe you are casting an entirely different spell (selected by you when you begin casting).
so that i can really pretend to be some sort of weird spell casting druid power type when i am really a sorcerer :)

there is on top of Silent / still spell Metamagic this little gem:
Secret Signs (feat)
You are particularly adept at communicating with others via innuendo, gestures, and secret hand signs.
Prerequisite: Int 13.
Benefit: You gain a +4 bonus on Bluff checks made to pass secret messages. In addition, you are adept at hiding the somatic components of spellcasting. If you cast a spell that has only somatic components, an observer must make a Perception check opposed by your Sleight of Hand check to notice your spellcasting. Spellcraft checks made to identify any spell you cast that has somatic components take a –2 penalty.
and this one too :
False Focus (feat)
You can use a divine focus to cast arcane spells.
Prerequisite: Knowledge (religion) 1 rank, ability to cast arcane spells.
Benefit: By using a divine focus as part of casting, you can cast any spell with a material component costing the value of that divine focus (maximum 100 gp) or less without needing that component. For example, if you use a silver holy symbol worth 25 gp, you do not have to provide material components for an arcane spell if its components are worth 25 gp or less. The casting of the spell still provokes attacks of opportunity as normal. If the spell requires a material component that costs more than the value of the divine focus, you must have the material component on hand to cast the spell, as normal.
Normal: A divine focus has no effect when used as a component in arcane spells

Hello there. I have been reading the rules, and I know you do not usually view the lesser races in a somewhat good way...but I am in the process of making a nagaji paladin; depending on the campaign, he will either worship Tsukiyo (a Tian Xian god of moon) or Iomedae. If you don't accept this, I can understand; however, I would be more than happy if you would allow it.

Heh. Well, generally speaking (as seen in my house rules), I tend to frown upon having more than 1 of the same exotic race in a group unless there's a really good story reason. In playing PFS, it seems there were full teams of tieflings 'by accident.' And in running with those players, it just seemed that they did not use the race very effectively in RP'ing out the character. In other words, it gave me the impression that the players were just doing those races for the mechanical benefit.
There's nothing wrong with *that* par se, as long as you RP it well. I've seen some *very* optimized character that I was sure would just be OP'd spotlight horders in combat. And, they were! But, a few actually RP'd them very well, making for some VERY entertaining experiences, and helping me to quickly forget that they clearly went a certain route for optimization purposes, LOL.
So that long story short, as long as you're prepared to RP it well, and it isn't like the entire party is a bunch of the same exotic race, I'm OK with it personally. However, the 2nd thing that must be considered here is the setting.
The humans, elves and to a lesser extent, the dwarves, rule the lands. Their kingdoms are most definitely set along racial boundaries. It's short sighted racial profiling, but this IS a medieval, unenlightened type of fantasy LOL. Halflings are look down upon, more or less, gnomes are fey to be hunted by the Mages Guild and Half Orcs are thought to be brutish, mentally challenged.
The only differences between the lower class and the higher classes, in this regard, is HOW their prejudice comes out. While the higher social classes would like to see fey and other magic type creatures hunted down, the lower classes fears them. Remember, history shows that these people were torn apart by magic. And while the fey community as a whole may or may not have played a big role in that, anything that looks magical that isn't under the direct control of the mages guild is something they fear today with a medieval fear.
A Nagaji isn't fey, but they pretty snake lookin'. The fact your eyes never blink is enough to freak out most of these people who already carry a healthy dose of superstition and fear about fey creatures and the occasional dragon attack.
Of course, similar to Algar above, you can take steps to cover it/deal with it/etc. I do run into a concern if the majority of the party is a hunted race/species/class, forcing just one person to always be the 'face' person and/or running into a concern all of the time that you might caught because there are so many ways for the party to be caught, so to speak.

No rush, my friend. We'll start when people are ready...probably in a week or two.
I wills say, I think I want to limit this to five people (Combat gets clunky with six or seven). I see three people posted here plus two who posted here. For now, anyone else who throws their hat in the ring does so with the understanding that these other five have put their name in first. Let's give everyone through Wednesday to read the rules, post questions and make decisions if it's the campaign for them. If not, then whoever else posts after this will be considered in order received.
Sameli, don't forget to read the houserules. My approach to Play be Post is a bit unorthodox, with higher than normal requirements as far as postings go. :)

Yup. I should have made that clear...this is a pbp.
I have a European in my other goup, and it works out just fine. As long as you posting during the prescribed periods each time, its fine. Occasionally players miss a posting period for whatever reason. A miss once or twice/week is OK, and we have rules that allow you to make up the round of combat if you miss as a result. If you miss more than that (or entire days) and I feel its impacting our pacing, I'll let you know.

So after questioning JCS directly he reminded me I ought to ask here but ultimately its assumed that we have a number of mundane items (within reason I imagine, atypical items wouldn't fall in that category?)
I asked a few other things mostly just reaffirming some stuff mentioned, kits are okay but I changed my mind as most kits have most the mundane items he said we are assumed to have but I know some differ ^^
Of course he is welcome to correct me if I misunderstood our talk ^_^
