Gladdened to see Aldondrick (and possibly Taker as well if she's around?), Jamaardi watches as Aldon deals with the children while the Xeph relays what he knows to the others in mindspeech.

::"One of the guards watching the statue shooed off those kids while they were climbing up on it. They must've gotten that unusual object from the statue, at least that would be my best guess. Strangely enough, that statue didn't make any noise while the kids were on it, not like it did that last time."::

Once Aldon passes on the coins to the three children, Jamaardi will ask them, "I couldn't help but notice that you all were climbing on that statue earlier. If you don't mind my asking, did the statue make any strange sounds when any of you touched it? Something like...". The Xeph does his best, closest verbal imitation of what the statue said before it's message got deciphered. "And if you three didn't mind, could you all show us where you climbed upon that statue and gotten that object? We'll make sure that the guards won't bother you while you show us."

When Aldondrick asks about getting magic to translate it, Jamaardi will add in, "I might be able to decipher those squiggles in much the same way I found out what that statue said the last time".

The Xeph will have his Astral Skin manifest some lesser Extra Arms, which he then uses one of his Extra appendages to create a glowing greenish semi-transparent Portable Altar dedicated to Nethys (through the use of his Psychic Toolkit bladeskill), while using the other arm to motion to Aldondrick to set the metal cylinder down upon the top of the altar.

"Closest thing I can make to a small table; it should be solid enough to hold the object's weight, hopefully."

Once the cylinder is resting on the altar, Jamaardi then spends 3 power points to activate the Mindstone once more, willing it to reveal the meaning of the symbols emblazoned upon the strange object.

If the three kids are still about and the squiggles don't mention anything about danger, Jamaardi will add in, "Since you three were having trouble getting it opened, I'll see what I can do to get it opened up, if any of you were still interested in what might be inside it."

The kids take you to the Statue, the Guard looks on as you past but dos not interfere.

They point at what looks to be a long metal ladder painted in yellow and black stripes.

"Jillic spotted that ladder, I'm the tallist so I pulled it down, there was a lick and she thught it looked fun to clime, so we bet Jillic he would-ent cuz he was scared."

The tall boy who talked to you said, he points at a smaller boy who says.

"I did not brake nuffing, I found it, up there."

He points to a the leg of the status that has some kind of whole it in.

Jamaardi:

Your read it but the mining is odd.

His brows furrowed in puzzlement, Jamaardi reads out aloud the translation from those squiggles, "Kind... 5... hit-surface...Shell. That's what those squiggles are supposed to mean. Rather odd, though. The word "Shell"... as in a sort of egg shell? A vehicle... that is alive?"

Currently, the hatch is closed (or appears so)?

Does Jamaardi also find any way to open up the 51 gp cylinder?

Jamaardi will take the lead in going first up that ladder. He will also caution any others nearby to have some sort of earplug ready to use. As a precaution, Jamaardi will activate the mindstone again to gain access to understanding the statue's mysterious language. He will also activate his Elfsight, Conceal Thought, and Chameleon powers as well. He is also currently double-focused for a 2DR/- and +1 bluff and stealth bonus.

Keeping his lesser extra arms handy (one of them is even wielding some earplugs for ready usage!), Jamaardi manifests his light mindarmor through his crystalline spaulders, giving the copper-sheened scales a blueish crystal facet in the center of each comprised angular scales of the light chained shirt armor. His Astral skin has entirely covered his entire clothing and skin underneath his crystal-reinforced mindarmor like a dull purple latex-spandex appearance of something unearthly.

If that strange loud sound happens again, I can try to manifest a "mind-ladder" to go upon, if need be.

Can the others tell me what they will be doing on the way up.

Speaking aloud (for the benefit of those not in the mindlink) (unless we want to introduce 13 and the 2 men to the wonders of mental communication) "I'll attempt to open this hatch; I've some knack at getting stuff opened up, so one way or another, we'll get inside."

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18. Does the hatch look trapped?

If Jamaardi doesn't see anything amiss, he'll try to open the hatch.

I'll say that with his second use of the mindstone, Jamaardi opted to put the bonus to Knowledge:Engineering for a +2 bonus.

K:Engineering: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22. Just in case it will be needed to puzzle out how to get the hatch opened.

Volita had been busy since magic died.

Healing had oft been the monopoly of the deity-singers, and their talents overshadowed all such beneficial powers of the mind-casters. But with the abrupt and inconceivable end of all non-psi magic, wounds went un-cured and losses to the body went unhealed.
So it was fortunate that Volita was one of the few that had stored knowledge of psi-healing, and the Temple of the Mind saw a brisk business as she, and a few Vitalists, sought to fill the great, gaping void of healing.

News of the Mage-Monolith (one of the many names it was going by) set the city on fire. Councils of the most learned were quickly held and many and great were the ideas and plans thrown about as how to more-quickly rush forward the magic the newly found monoliths promised.

And so Voilita was approached and given new priorities: The 'ladder' that had descended must needs by spelunked, and the secrets it surely leads to must be brought forth with greatest haste.
(Although, it crossed her mind to wonder why the Temple of the Mind would send forth assets to bring back magic. Surely the monopoly they now enjoyed would end? Once magic re-entered the world the Disciples of Psi would again be cast down as the poor step-child of the truer magic users? Well, such was not hers to wonder why.)

Sensing a long day ahead, Voilta packed all her things into her haversack and took pause to create a utility-construct of greatest ability.

Construct:

No worries, Volita; sometimes you come upon the right messageboard avatar to use. At other times, it will take a while to find just that right one even.

Hearing the voice of somebody referring to both him and Aldon by name in a pleasant, sociable manner catches Jamaardi's attention while he was up on the ladder. A person who doesn't sound like the guildmaster Kippel, Taker, or any of the younglings, but speaks very openly and in such a friendly, supportive manner. Definitely not one of the Patriarch's many advisors, that much is certain.

Peering down to witness a Blue female Goblinoid, accompanied by an Astral construct, speaking with Aldondrick, Jamaardi decides that heading into the statue hatch could wait for a moment.

Letting his Astral skin recede from covering up his entire head, the Xeph psychically creates an adjoining glowing green ladder, using his Psychic toolkit ability, placed next to the ladder that he is currently standing upon. Taking care not to force anybody else on that very ladder to have to climb down with him, Jamaardi climbs over to his green ladder and uses that to climb down to the foot of the statue.

Once back onto the ground, Jamaardi approaches both Aldon and Volita while they are conversing about alien writings on that metal cylinder. "Greetings, madam. You've arrived at a most auspicious time indeed. How goes things back at the temple, erm, madam...?". The Xeph stumbles a bit at addressing the Blue psion.

Glancing over at the cylinder, Jamaardi adds, "Ah yes, that lucky discovery made by some of the local younglings- at a princely sum of over 50 gold too, but well worth it."

::"Should there be any need to take our conversations private, we have our thoughtspeech- for now, at least. Probably until Taker, another of our associates, leaves, at any rate."::

Bolstered by the encouraging words of 13, Volita looks pensive as she takes the small cylinder, doubtful of her abilities to gleen any knowledge from so arcane an item. She studies it a momonet, then lets the full resources of her mind work upon the thing, contrasting it to anything, everything, she might think would be related to such a strange thing. Is it related to its surroundings? It was found not far from here, so perhaps it is simply misplaced from where it should go?

Perception Take 10: 10 + 8 = 18
Knowledge: Local Take 10: 10 + 5 = 15
Knowledge: Nature Take 10: 10 + 5 = 15
Knowledge: Arcane Take 10: 10 + 5 = 15

As she allows her mind to percolate on the strange object, she turns as the wiry Psy Warrior addresses her. Again she bows low, her small frame almost touching the ground. "Greetings noble Mind-Blade, I am Volita Involo, Demi-Binder of Metacreativity." After the introduction she looks to the horizon and sighs. "The Temple is of course overjoyed at the finding," she says in a deadpan, neither joy nor triumph on her face.

Then the conversation is continued.

::'Alas, all at the Temple is tumult. Factions are drawn and re-drawn. The dominant position is to pierce this monolith and glean its secrets from it, perhaps restoring Sorcery to the world, but such flies in the face of Logic. Those that would see the Mind-Art hold its monopoly have a strong argument. Indeed, why would we see us, so newly taking our rightful position as Paramount of this world, so quickly seek to re-establish the Somatic traditions and supplant ourselves again as the third-fiddle? Alas, that argument is in the minority, for the now, so we must needs siege this thing and make it tell us what it knows.'::

With that she lowers her head and returns to the study the object.

Happy Birthday Jonny! =)

Thanks

Volita:

After Volita finishes her bow, Jamaardi will formally bow in return to her with a grin, "Well met then, Volita Involo and it's good that you've arrived when you have; we did help the local authorities with keeping some order about the nearby city but we haven't been formally knighted, as of yet. Not even sure if they perform acts of knighthood here, but their camel-lances are pretty formidable..."

::"Understandable that there would be a multitude of ideas on what should be done next. I gave a mention earlier to some stubborn advisers that the possibility of our own derived powers could very well be next to dissappear as had all magics; didn't really give them much in the way of reassurance though. Still, we were fortunate enough to have this statue still be intact... we were told that other similar monoliths had their respective statues in a very poor state of being."::

Glancing over at the cylinder in Volita's hand, Jamaardi adds, ::"I sussed out those squiggly symbols as saying something to the effect of "Kind, Five, Hit, Surface, Shell", thanks to a mind-stone of the Seventh Path. So it could be a sort of egg for that statue- although the hit part seems to imply some form of offensive or defensive capability. Haven't heard of too many creatures using their eggs to attack or defend, apart from maybe some mischievous young-lings..."::

Volita climbs the ladder and tries to open the door.

You're doing just fine, Volita; I guess that our GM gave Volita some "inside, personal" knowledge/clue about the area we are currently at with the statue and monolith. Feel free to mention it to Aldon and Jamaardi, if you want Volita to chime in with any special insight on her end of things.

Sometimes I tend to take a more leisurely posting schedule myself at times, but I suspect that we're giving a way for any of the other new arrivals to this game the chance to hop on in without too much trouble. Jamaardi and Aldondrick can get Volita up to speed on 13's deal though.

After 13 finishes addressing our group, Jamaardi will give a bow to 13 and reply, "Thank you again for your confidence in us, Nooroleic; allow us to introduce you to our newest member of our expedition, Lady Involo. And milady, this gentleman before us is Nooroleic, also known as 13, Captain of the guards for the Patriarch of Eto. We first met him and his men when we arrived here in the country of Osirion. Come to think of it though...".

Giving an apologetic shrug as the Xeph turns to 13/Nooroleic, "If you don't mind my asking, why do you get referred to as "13" from the Patriarch?"

When Volita heads towards the ladder, Jamaardi says after her, "I could try to get it opened up, if you wish, Milady Involo; still, if you hear the statue start to make any noise and start speaking in a strange language, that would be the statue warning people to stay away from it. First happened when we found that statue facing the monolth, although it has been quiet of late."

Jamaardi doesn't stop Volita if she continues up the ladder, as he's somewhat curious as to what she can do. He'll probably follow along but give Volita enough space to do what she needs. He'll also be prepared to make another mind-ladder if the situation calls for it too.

@Jamaardi
He bows back.

"The Patriarch has six platoons of body Guards, each with 13 men, The 13th is the Commander."

Top of the ladder.

There are 10 small gray blocks size of the thumbnail on a panel.
Each has a symbol. Then there is a red one and a deep green one.

HP = 36/36|AC=14 (18 Inertial Armor)|PP=23/31|Ki 4 | BP 7 |Ini+2(3)|Per+8|For+6|Ref+7|Will+7 Shadow's Status

Aldon floats over to the panel, "A puzzle box of some sort?"

No hold up at all Volita, I think we are now waiting for a 4th as well. Do any of the symbols seem similar to one another or do they have any association with the colored panels?

One looks like a symbol on the cylinder the one for 5

While Jamaardi gives Volita time and space to examine the hatch at the top of the ladder, he looks over at Aldondrick's Avariel Elf form with an appreciative eye towards discerning the psionic power behind it.

K:Psionics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19. The Xeph is not able to figure out anything more about Aldondrick's new form, save that it does seem similar to a certain Psychic Warrior path, known as the Path of Infiltration.

When Aldon mentions something about a puzzle box, Jamaardi's curiosity gets the better of his decorum and the Xeph eagerly moves back towards the statue, after letting 13 know what he plans to do, and manifests another Soul/Mind-ladder next to the one that Volita is on.

Climbing up the newly formed ladder, Jamaardi gives a nod to both Volita and Aldon, saying "Might as well join the party, so to speak...". Upon seeing the familiar 5 symbol on the keypad, Jamaardi mentions, "The symbol on that...rune? nub?.. it's says Five, the same as on the squiggle symbol here on our egg cylinder."

The Xeph uses one of his finger on his Lesser Arm to point alternately at the 5 symbol at both the keypad and the cylinder that Volita has. "This calls for use of my mind-stone once more.", Jamaardi says as he puts in another 3 power points to "read" the symbols on the keypad.

Heh, guessing that there's the numbers 0 to 4 and 6 to 9 on that keypad? ;)

Set out that way, but as you still have detect pisonics running from scanning Aldondrick's Avariel Elf you note that the lock is also Psionic, pushing the symbols dos nothing they do not move, but as you read them and think about them, your focusing and each in turn lights up. If only you had some psionic means to open and close locks.

:)

Aldon sees Jamaardi's concentration on the panel, "What do you think my friend. There must be some way to open it with the right sequence coded in no?"

Half-Giant Soulknife (Cutthroat)

A familiar flash and ring of psionic energy echos out as Eisen is ported in from the temple. After adjusting to his new environment he asks. "Am I late to the party?"

Aldion turns at the flash, "Another from the Temple? Your presence here is most welcome, it appears we have hit a problem we cannot solve. Have you news from the Temple on how the doors to these contraptions can be opened? I am Aldondrick, welcome..." asks Aldon gesturing to the control panel.

The half-giant nods and walks over to the device. "Call me Eisen." He responds and pulls his sleeve up mid way revealing a fresh tattoo. Black ink in an almost indeterminable pattern. "They gave me this." He channels his psionic energy to the pattern and begins to tinker with the lock.

kinetic-legerdemain: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

You go up the ladder and from below the others, use your new tattoo, to feel past the door, its like far hand but your feeling the inside of the hatch. There is a wheel. you try to turn it one way and then the other, no good, you feel some more to left and right and on the left press down on something round and small. from this side of the door there is a click, and the red light turns green.

Aldon you see the wheel turn a little bit placing your hand on it it turn's to the left, one full turn and the hatch swings up into a tunnel space leading up to a platform.

The space you enter Looks like this

Hi players how you getting on, so your in the stature now, the space is very odd, everything looks uniform well made and oddly even. In your world you use to things being uneven bespoke made, to see so much uniformity again smacks of Dwarfish work but even more mechanical. There is now wood, bone or horn at all. Some of the materials you have never seen before. One thing you all pick up on, is a low psionic humm.

As you went up the ladder you spotted a rack on which more of the '5 impact shells' are placed, in a rack of 12 compartments but there is only 11 one is empty. This is before the hatch.

Half-Giant Soulknife (Cutthroat)

Perception v. Traps: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23

Eisen takes a look around the opening before dropping inside the structure. "I wasn't sure what to expect but this is... different."

Claiming up the leg of the metal saute, so you claiming up and into this space :)

You take a -5 on that roll for being in a space that has unknown quality's but you feel there is no traps Eisen.

There are small lights on walls winking and the odd beeping sound, the light is coming from above, its red. There is the smell of burned flesh an ozone in the air.

Dos any one have danger sense as a power?

There is a door to the left open and also the ladder keeps going up, as you go up another Hatch opens when you get close.

Aldon lands and follows Eisen through the door. As the hatch opens he turns to the newcomer.

"Did you open that one as well?"

Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

Half-Giant Soulknife (Cutthroat)

"No. It seems to detect our presence." Eisen replies. "What is this place?" he asks.

As Volita follows the group inside, her construct follows. It seems that, as they enter the even, clean, foreign-looking compartment, a sound issues from the construct that sounds like "War. War never changes," but that is silly. Everyone knows constructs can't talk.

Once they have all entered, Volita gives voice to her growing sense of unease. "Mmph. I like this place not. It's too close and too strange. What magic would have the ken to create this? A dwarven clan with advanced OCD could not make such a place as this in a thousand years. Still, we are commanded to henceforth go, so we may as well make the best of it.
Aldondrick, take pause. Let us complete a tour of the horizontal before we sojourn forth into the vertical. We don't know how far the ladder goes, but surely each floor is finite. Hopefully.
Let's try this door first, and see where it leads."

With that Volita tries the door to the left.

Would it be fair to say that the interior of the statue looks bigger on the inside compared to the outside, like a tardis?

Excitedly looking all about this strange interior, Jamaardi follows along with the others in the rearguard position this time. "I'm sure Guildmaster Kippel would love to examine this place- not sure if he's affiliated with any local dwarven clans though.". Looking to both Volita and Eisen, the Xeph further explains, "He's the master of the local engineering college at Eto and is one of the more friendlier ones amongst the Patriarch's subordinates; helped us in getting the city back under control a few days ago."

Jamaardi replied to Aldon's earlier question about the keypad with, "Possibly, but it needs to be opened by purely psionic means; something not within my own capabilities, I fear.", after explaining the numbers and symbols on the keypad to both Aldondrick and Volita (ie. These correspond to the numbers one through nine... not sure why they put zero on the bottom along with those odd symbols though.).

When Eisen teleports in and either gets the hatch opened through his psionic tattoo or gets it ready for Aldondrick to open it after psionically unlocking the keypad, Jamaardi adds, "Very timely and conveniently done, Eisen- I'd say you've arrived at the perfect moment... and well met."

As everyone enters the statue, the Xeph does point out the racks of the identical cylinders, all arranged in a row, to the others. "If I didn't know any better, they look much more like some form of ammunition as opposed to eggs..."

Other than that, Jamaardi is silently taking in these new and wondrous sights within the statue for the most part. He does answer Eisen's final question of what is this place with, "Not entirely sure myself, but there is a sense of psionics all around this place."
